I moved back to the area...
I moved back to the area last year and Country Club Towers was a good choice at the time. It's close to work and to shopping options. I miss some of the community feel of my previous residence.

Not impressed. The amenity fee is extremely high for what you get. The "fitness center" is a tiny room in the basement with very very old equipment that is frequently out of order. The computers etc in the "business center" are barely functional. Temperature control in the apartments is poor because it's an older building and the windows are very old and not well insulated. So, the heat/ac unit has trouble keeping the apt a comfortable temperature on hot and cold days. Above ground parking is okay only because it's free. The spots are so narrow expect to get many dings on your doors from other tenants, and if you arrive home later in the evening it will be full and you'll have to search for street parking which is limited. The rent is reasonable for the area, but the management company basically penalizes anyone who considers renewing their lease by trying to raise the rent even though the market value of the apartment has not risen. In my case, many other identical units were available in the building at the time my lease ended for less than my current rent However, they still tried to RAISE my rent by over $100 a month if I had stayed. Bottom line: you can do better!

Run away as far as you can!! Horrible , unsafe with nearby shooting or so they claim.Marjiuana smell occasionally.Very poor management. Not receptive to complaints and rude as if you are staying there for free. The worst I have seen. The AC situation was horrible e.g they turn it on late in the season and turn it off too soon .As an alternative they ask you to open the window to adjust to the temperature change.2 washers and 2 dryers for God knows how many apt on each floor , and usually they are not functioning well. You can't get packages or mail until after 6 pm and sometimes even after or not at all on weekends. The staff hides in the back office .They give out broken garage controls and the parking assignment is so rudimentary .The building looks ok and the staff looks ok during leasing season then things start going down .The only positive move they made is a recent addition of concierge after 6 pm service which in my opinion should replace the morning staff that is useless. The pool size is great but it is always dirty and unkept .The person on watch is usually a ------------- who sunbathes , talks on her phone , listens to music with earphones looking away from the pool I.e could not save a fly let alone a child or an adult if needs be

Overall, I appreciate...
Overall, I appreciate the location, cleanliness and that there are no pests or rodents. However, the utilities should be included as they fluctuate dramatically and even when everything is off or I have been away it can go up to $200. Also, I am almost NEVER notified when I have received a package - good thing most have had tracking so I know to ask. It is also not always convenient to have to wait until evening to go down for them. Parking is terrible after 5pm, and it is awful that there is no parking available for overnight guests! Washer and dryer in the units would be nice too. There seems to be a lot of renovation noise, even on weekends. However, I love that my unit is clean, everything is newly renovated and it is safe and quiet. The neighbors and staff are friendly.

I have lived at Country Club Tower apartments since 2010 (3 years now). I am a bit taken aback with all the poor reviews. I do agree that when I first moved here in 2010, there were some employees in the management who were notably unprofessional. However, They have LONG been replaced! Pros: - The apartment complex is very safe. Residents have been very friendly and I have never had an issue. - Management: Lilia and Tiffany have been excellent. ALways willing to help, friendly and courteous. - Maintenance: The maintenance staff are Excellent!! They respond within a day or two of placing a request and are always friendly! - The building itself is very nice, always well kept. And there are no WEIRD SMELLS in the halls as i read in one of the reviews. This has never been a problem (I would expect if you cook food your apartment has a nice food smell to it for a short while). You don't smell anything all day in the halls. - The grounds and car park are well kept. There is a very nice, Kind, -------- guy who works soo hard to keep things in order. And he does a GREAT job. - The renovated apartments are very spacious and fresh. - Never have water issues. - The gym is well kept and machines are repaired in a timely fashion. - There is a bus stop immediately outside the complex (very handy). - There are laundry facilities on EVERY FLOOR opened 24hrs a day. Cons: - Parking could be an issue. You get one parking pass per apt. once you get in early, no trouble. However, if you stay out late, then you definitely need to purchase a garage spot ($80 a month). I lived here for two years and needed to park on the street about 3 blocks away only a few times. But they don't have enough free parking spaces for each resident (understandably). That said, the garage parking is extremely convenient. - You occasionally hear you neighbors through the walls. However, it is definitely NOT an everyday thing and this has never been an issue for me. - The area surrounding the complex is safe, but SEEMS a bit shady in one area between the complex and Shirlington. All in all, Arlington has been a safe place. It is very safe taking the bus, or if you have a car. Shirlington is very close by (10 min walking distance) and I have NEVER had a problem during my 3 years. (I occasionally walked at night as well). - presently only Comcast allowed

This place smells awful! You can smell everything. From your neighbors BO and dinner to marijuana its enough to give you headache. The plumbing is always turned off and never seems to get fixed. Parking is bad, they crammed too many spots in the parking lot making it hard to get in and out of your car without door dinging and your car has new dings daily. If you arrive past 8:30 to 9pm you MAY find a spot on the street nearby. Management is non responsive to your needs and they hold your packages hostage (at least they replaced the old mean guy at the front). Oh and don't forget the noise! They nickle and dime you and then dismiss you. This place is dirty too. Not the common areas but the air vents send dust in your apartment. I have never seen so much dust in my life. I dust my unit 3 times a week otherwise I'd be living in a cloud of dust. I have also had sinus issues (verified by my doctor) because of the awful ventilation system. The only good thing about this place is the maintenance staff. They work hard to fix things immediately, and all work is completed right the first time.

Almost 5 years as a resident
I've lived at CCT for 4 years a few years ago and I moved back to CCT last spring. Yes, not every place is perfect but I do like living here. I feel safe and my neighbors are friendly and it's a clean place. Pros: -maintenance always completes requests in a timely manner and are really friendly -building clean, laundry rooms clean -controlled access entries -garage parking (never had anyone park in my spot) -washers & Dryers on every floor -can pay rent online but there is a $5 fee (again, not everything is perfect) -neighbors are friendly and there is minimal noise -random inspections of apts for bedbugs with canine -pest control comes several times a year in apts -notices of fire alarm tests, events in building etc are passed out to residents in their apts (they even have a building yard sale) -business center, gym, party room, trash room, recycle room all inside of building -yes you can get your package until after 6pm but if it's medications the leasing staff will get it for you. Cons: -windows are old and offer poor insulation (I got black out curtains) -parking is limited so it's best to get a garage spot but it is $60 a month -parking for guests is also limited and they will tow at 12am so be sure to move your car -front desk attendant (he is not the friendliest or the most organized) -problems with printer in business center -tv's in gym need to be updated and cleaned so it doesn't smell like mold (again, it's a gym) -not every fee was mentioned until lease signing -apt rent depends on the day you move in and what month (no rhyme or reason in my opinion -fee for garage door key is non-refundable Other: The customer service level in the leasing office could be better. They give you a basic level of service and most of the time they look like you are bothering them. Oh well, they are there to assist the residents so ask away! Well all know that leasing offices are super nice while you are looking for an apt because they want your business. DUH! I agree, they don't have to be rude to you after you sign the lease. The utilties are reasonable but it also helps to be GREEN people and not leave on lights all night. There is a directory at the front doors and you can have it connect to your cell phone so it's easy to buzz people in.

So far so good
I recently moved to Country Club Towers and was nervous about the reviews. I have to say I have had a great experience thus far. The management has been friendly, maintenance concerns have been handled quickly and efficiently, and I have no problems to report. I will say my apartment faces Glebe so I do hear street traffic. But that would be my only negative thus far.

Don't move here.
I think it's ridiculous that a staff person can be in the office and won't walk the 15 feet to get your package that arrived in the mail. They make you wait until the evening when the incredibly rude front desk guy arrives. Also, parking is a total nightmare. There are not nearly enough spaces for the amount of tenants. Don't ever plan to arrive home past 9PM, because you will have to try your luck with non-existant street parking. Simply put...run, run far away.

Renter beware!
Be warned, there are serious issues living here! The root of these problems start and end with management, who are more concerned with cutting corners and saving a few dollars than providing adequate living quarters for tenants. A few examples. When I moved in, the cabinets were old, the refrigerator leaked, and the carpet hadn't been replaced in years. The so-called "business center" is a joke. The printer is always out of paper if it works at all and the PC's are always in a state of disrepair. The gym is even worse. Bring your own exercise bicycle seat unless you want to ride on the cracked one that's been broken for years. Apparently nobody informed management of the Digital Transition which had been publicly announced for years. None of the tv's in the gym are digital capable, meaning they now only receive about 3 stations since tv stations started broadcasting a digital signal. The remaining 3 stations will go offline soon when those stations start broadcasting digitally as well. Management hasn't made a decision whether they want to pay to upgrade the tv's, despite numerous complaints. I don't know about you, but working out to a television displaying static made my workouts seem a lot longer. Good news is that at least not as many people go to the gym any more due to the lack of service. The pool is infested with ants and has been for years. Tenants unknowingly put their bags on the ground, while armies of ants climb in as you are sunbathing. The ants happily start building their new home when tenants take the bags back to the apartments. Rent free of course. Here's a trick when this happens to you. Drop a piece of food on the floor and the ants will pounce upon it. Kill them all now while you have the chance, BEFORE the Queen is annointed and starts reproducing! Parking is extremely limited. Instead of replacing the useless courtyard with some much needed parking spaces, they pointlessly spend plenty of money planting a few flowers and paying for landscaping so they have a pretty picture to put on brochures. The towing company is getting a kings ransom from this place. They are even starting to tow food delivery services who have no other parking options during their visits of a few minutes. I expect all the food delivery services to simply stop coming to Country Club Towers, and they are already complaining. As for the apartments, the cabinets are small and you will quickly run out of shelf space. The apartments are not sealed water tight and as a result, many neighbors have dangerous paint chips along the window sills and other areas. When your appliances break down, they will be replaced with equally dysfunctional refurbished appliances that had broken down years ago. Tenants dread the transition of seasons due to the age of the heating/cooling system in the building. Apartments here can only have either heat OR a/c at a time, you cannot switch from one to the other. Management determines when it is switched and once the decision is made, you will have to live with that decision for the next 6 months. Every spring/summer and fall/winter, you will invariably suffer many nights of no a/c or no heat when you need it. Stock up on extra blankets and fans, if you dare move here! Plumbing is so old that tenants actually share water backups. Tenants play a game of tag with the kitchen garbage disposal, which forces water backups into the sink of their neighbors who send it right back with their disposal unit. Kind of like air hockey except the puck is dirty water. There should be some sort of FAQ explaining this phenomenon as you won't have a clue what is happening when it will invariably happen to you. While the apartments are generally quiet, the design of the building significantly amplifies road noise and you'll have to deal with the noise of the fire trucks at least 8 times a day as the building catches the noise and actually makes it louder as the sound bounces back and forth between building wings. Management won't tell you of your benefits that you're entitled to such as painting your apartment or replacing/cleaning your carpet even if you're entitled, because this will cost them money. They are more interested in primping their courtyard or keeping a clean yet dysfunctional gym and business center, so potential renters will like the first impression. Renters beware! There are many other problems I haven't even addressed. Most of the other negative reviews are extremely accurate. Management will be nice to you and present a pretty courtyard that serves no purpose. Once you sign the lease, the management beast will be unleashed and don't you dare complain about anything or they might evict you. One tenant is being threatened with eviction because she found a mold infestation due to leaky plumbing and management doesn't want to admit it's their problem. It's a health hazard and the current or future tenant will be living in a possible death trap because it won't get fixed as this costs money. You would hope the health and safety of the tenants were first and foremost but this is proven not to be the case.

Loving it
I've lived here for 15 years. Since, I am a considerate, polite person, the staff has been the same to me. Things are repaired quickly and the work is done right. Not a place for kids, since there is not much for them to do.

HORRIBLE STAFF
46 out of 52 reviews can't be wrong! I have lived here for 8 years and am appalled at the lack of customer service here. They are rude to residents and believe more in enforcing pointless rules(cannot pick up packages/mail until after 6 PM, cannot use the bathroom in the gym before noon)than accomodating happy residents. Maintenance requests go often unanswered and if something breaks, they will bring you old, used appliances or fixtures from other apartments that are also broken. Crumbling, cracking walls, leaky unsealed windows, and mold are huge issues here which they will not address even though people could get sick. There is no guest parking, the business office equipment is nonfunctional, the TVs in the gym only get 3 channels and several residents on the 2nd floor had a bed bug infestation which management refused to help with. I still live here because the location is convenient and I like my neighbors, decent pool even though your guests (even 1!) have to PAY to go with you. I am just waiting for the property manager to retire (or get fired) so someone competant with some customer service skills can come in and run this place properly. Fingers crossed that things will get better someday.... I would not recommend this building. Ever.

DO NOT LIVE HERE
This is by far the worst place that I have ever lived. Not only is the management inconsiderate and rude but their business practices boarder line on illegal. When I moved in I was not given a copy of a lease and when I requested one it took days for it to be ready. They also are extremely slow when processing requests. I work at a property management company and therefore understand what management SHOULD be like, and the management at Country Club Towers is far from it. Parking is also a HUGE issue. Inness you are willing to pay the 60$ for garage parking, I would not live here if consistent parking is important to you.

Save yourself the headache; looks nice, but definitely are decieving!
I just moved out of Country Club Towers after living there for three and a half years. I had several problems with the management staff and would not recommend them to anyone. The rent is affordable for the area, and they are very nice prior to signing a lease, but then become overbearing and downright nasty. The management office is atrocious. They are unprofessional and unaccomodating. They are poor at answering questions and do not return phone calls. Both --------------------------------- are rude and fail to provide any level of customer service. They have extensive office hours but are not often in the office and available. It takes weeks to have a lease drawn up. The microwave took over 1.5 months to be placed into my unit. Now that I have moved out, they have not notified the submetering company of by move out and am still being billed (again calls not being returned in a timely fashion from the office) and I am not holding my breath with regards to ever getting back my security deposit. When you actually do get a hold of them, they speak to you like you are a bother and like you are a child. I cannot overestimate how unbelievably mean spirited and awful they treat the residents. Their office staff turnover is high because it is an awful atmosphere. Mulitple issues with the move out. In short, I gave them well in advance the required 60 days notice of my move out and then I get an angry call 60 days later that my stuff is going to be evicted and thrown on the street if they did not get the keys even though we were contractually still under lease. They angrily demanded that I pay out the end of my lease and stated that another tenant needed to move in. In short, Country Club Towers is unethical and was trying to collect double rent on the same unit, by getting me to pay out until the end of my lease and then told me that they had a renter for my unit. When I reminded them that this is in fact against the law, their tune changed. I understand there must be rules, but my sister's car was towed at 12:05am, after she just had to go back up to the apartment to grab her car keys when she was visiting. Her vehicle was registered as a guest with our phone number/apartment number at the front desk and instead of being notified that our guest was about to be towed, that registration becomes a quick identification so you may be towed off the property at anytime. The parking is situtaion is awful. If you get home past 7pm, do not expect to find a spot on the lot. Street parking is not in the greatest of areas, over one block away and not abundant. The apartment itself was spacious and quiet, but had issues. The windows are large and offer beautiful views from the higher floors. After a heavy rain, the seams at the window began to leak a large amount and ruined many books, pictures I had stored in the bedroom and the living room. The handyman stated that the windows are over forty years old and that they were in need of replacing. It was my impression from the handyman that he had been busy as this happened after the rain in several units. The lobby, common living spaces are nice, but the workout space has dated equipment that is frequently out of service & requiring repair & smells musty. With regards to the cleaning and maintenance staff, they are friendly, diligent and prompt with repairs. But this is provided that they are made aware of the request, which needs to go through the management company. It is clean and the grounds well maintained. The gentleman at the front desk, ----, is unpleasant and lazy, often not helpful when you need to pick up deliveries and packages. Another thing, you can only get packages after 6pm when the front desk staff is there and there are often unfilled shifts when there is no one at that desk in the evening, meaning it can be 3-4 days before getting you package. The office staff will not allow you to pick up a package during the day even if medication or perishables are inside. Most of the residents mind their own business and are younger professionals. Keep in mind that although the rent/security deposit is reasonable, the leasing terms required 60 day move out notice, there is a couple hundred dollar move in feea and keep in mind they will try to nickel and dime you at anytime they can. If you want to call a place home where you cannot pick up your packages, have a hard time finding parking, deal with nasty office staff & a place where clearly they do not appreciate your business...this is the place for you! Again, I would not recommend this place to anyone. I tried to give a fair review, hope this helps!

What is everyone's problem?
I have been a resident here for a few years now and have enjoyed Country Club Towers. I live in one of the renovated apartments now, and love it. As for management, I have never had a problem with them, whenever I have spoken with anyone in the office, they have helped my needs... but there was one time they were pretty stressed, maybe they were dealing with one of those other residents posting on here. My biggest warning is other residents. There are many disrespectful neighbors here. I must have shoveled myself out a dozen times during the snow only to find another resident had tossed more show on my car. And after Christmas people drag their dead pine tree throught the halls to the trash and don't care to clean after themselves. Others may complain about their stay, I on the other hand, love my HOME.

dont believe the management
I used to live in that building about a year ago and i find the residents are really nice too nice to be wasting there time and money for this kind of place to live in. I am happy that people who are unhappy are complaining and expressing there feelings here because someone should change there ways of handling the public. They are extreamly not professional and lazy when a resident needs help or a simple favor! I was treated very unfairly, the management were rude and snappy! This building should be demolished, I would not recommend this apartment for Virginia state! so please if you are thinking to rent here think twice! its not worth it ... Trust me there are better places to start a new living.

You think it s a cheap place! Think twice! Or at least budget an extra $500 per month for incidentals.
The first day I signed my contract and parked in the loading zone to unload a few items. I came back to find my car towed ($115) Of course management doesn t reimburse! It was somewhere in the fine print of the contract that I signed half an hour ago where it said that you can t park in loading zone outside of office hours. That was my experience as a resident! Let alone my guests who have been towed countless times! Not that management gives you the impression that you re supposed to read the contract carefully but rather they d be staring at you while you re sitting in their office with the look implying when will that annoying tenant finish up so I can take my 2 hour lunch break or check out for the day . Management DOES NOT WANT TO WORK OR HELP with anything. They have a system set up to nickel and dime you all through your stay! And they ve strived to make the rules as ridged and inconvenient to your work schedule as possible! If you re expecting a package in the mail you have a window between 6pm and 11pm to pick it up! And if you happen to have had a late work week too bad! You re not getting that package if you visit the leasing office during you lunch break they just won t give you the damn package until the concierge shows up at 6pm. And if you happen to have showed up within the allowed time but the concierge was either on break or on a phone with a relative, then good luck! Sit around and wait a few hours for the person to come back! My advice is to have packages delivered to your work address instead of having to deal with the office! Wanna use the common laundry room? First of all, good luck finding an empty machine on a Sunday! Then pray that the machine is reading the cards correctly! I ve once had the full $10 on my laundry card blown away with one load! It turned out the machine was not working right. If I wanted to get my $10 back management has nothing to do with it! I d have to call some 800 number and contact the corporate office of the company that administers the laundry cards to report the error! Oh well goodbye to some more cash. If you sign up for garage parking its $50 per month otherwise if you happen to need a parking spot without having paid the monthly rate it s $10 per day. If you get locked out of your apartment you re on your own. Management let s you into your place during office hours! Which don t really help especially if you happen to fit the demographics of a typical Arlington young professional then chances are that you will be at work from 8 am till 7 pm! The apartment doors are designed to lock immediately after you shut them. So call a lock smith and get yourself back in for $250. Oh and don t forget there isn t a phone for you to use if your locked out on site. Your best bet is the shady Severn Eleven around the corner you may need a bullet proof vest while walking down there. Oh and don t forget to make a copy of your new key for management so they can sneak into your place while your gone otherwise one of the scary ladies will yell at you! You defiantly get what you pay for. The access pad to the building doesn t work and the front desk concierge is almost always on the phone or too busy doing some personal business the last priority on their list is to open the door for you or greet your visitors. You can t even see if there s a person sitting upfront! They keep the lights down so they can take their nap during work hours. Let alone that some of those concierge employees seem to look so dressed down that I would mistake them with a homeless on the street! You like the pool! You can go ahead and enjoy it with ONE friend! Otherwise go ahead and pay $10 per extra person. Wanna throw a last minute cookout or outdoors party? Forget about it! You re supposed to reserve the area centuries in advance and pay some fee to use the place and can t exceed maybe five guests . and where will your guests park? In the ten guest spots that are often taken by residents so go figure! Don t have a party! Did something stop working in your apartment? Go ahead and put a ticket today if you want it fixed by next week! The maintenance staff runs on such slow third-world pace that nothing gets done! You like the business center? Did you try to use it and find out if any of those computers actually works? Those machines are loaded with malware and have no virus protection or any sort of scanning . Do not use them! Your security WILL BE COMPROMISED! The neighborhood behind the building is very questionable! Every so often I ve noticed a police helicopter that goes looking for someone with a big beam light at 3 am! There are also police cars chasing someone around there every few months.

CHEAP RENT FOR A REASON
If i had to write how many bad things are happening here, I would have to cut down about a MILLION trees! Thanks for the internet I can express my free speech here...The parking and the management is awful. The elevator smells horrid , allll the time it makes me want to puke! the gym is dusty dirty smell all the time like bo, and the machines always break!!! Hell even the front door buzzer does not work.We get a fire drill one a month for the length of 10 hours!!!! more like drill in the brain... and also i want to mention, the walls are thin like paper , you can hear your neighbor fright with his wife or even sneeze!!! If you have already moved out, your smart good choice but dont expect to get your security deposit in 3 months!!The management will make you stall if you are not showing your muscles and the gustapo manager will charge you for any tiny dirt! dont relye on ----- and span to clean up for you!!! I HEARD A RUMMER SHE CHARGED 600 EXTRA! Also to mention for the people that moved here for a CHEAP deal on rent, dont expect to rely the same next year it will be doubble !!!!

Horrible Management
I would have to agree with some of these comments. I am not a picky tenant, but the management just ruines the whole experience!! They have no respect nor have any type of customer service. If you think you won't have to deal with the office, you are very mistaken.. Think twice before getting an apartment with them. Let's just say, I moved out in the beginning of June, and I still didn't get my deposit back ..hmmm it's almost October!!

You can hear the neighbors next to you sneeze, the walls are made of papper 5.Your package arrival will sometimes go some post office in somewhere in alexandria happens allot !!!! 6. the manager is like bi polar gostapo ! watch out 7. if you are alleady living in this horrible building dont expect to pay the same 1100 dollars rent, they will raise it !!! 8. The gym room is like gross , dirty disgusting , and smells , I guess no one cares to clean it, SWINE FLUE is the biggest threat in the world!! i guess cleaning after thousands of people using the equipment is too much effort!! Yuck 9.the fire alarm test goes on for 10 freaken hours! once every three weeks , what if there was a real fire??? people will ignore it since there so used to hearing it going on for 10 hours! 10. The parking sucks!!if you own a smart car your dumb! the only parking space is at the hotel and then expect to get robbed!!! 11.The door bell buzzer does not work 12.the leaf blower guy at 9 in the morning on a sat makes so much noise, what is he blowing bugs?? he has been doing this ------ job since may!! its not Fall yet awww , THE MANAGER IS OBSESSED !!! 13.The pool was soooo dirty this year FUNGUS and ALLGEY ewwwwww the life gard was too busy , he was all the time on his lap top surfing Russian porn!! 14 if you think this apartment building is convenient , your very right! its also convenient for the efire trucks to come by between 1-6 in the morning with color and loud sirens. 15. if you expect to get your security deposit back , think again you will not get it after 3 months, and the manager will inspect every tiny corner, if it does not meet the managers expectations you will pay allot of money!!!! REMEMBER THE 2 GUYS ----- AND SPAM 16. there are some low life residents that leave the trash outside there appartment unit! no joke! i saw a rat! I guess when you lower the rent you bring in the RATS!
