I really enjoy living in ocean walk, I feel so safe walking around at night, the whole complex has been upgraded and the management is amazing! I've lived in several apartment complexes and this place is by far the best. I definitely feel like I am home here.

Not certain where to begin. When you start searching it appears with $ this is the place but truth is this is the NASTIEST APARTMENT COMPLEX. Between people throwing trash everywhere, not cleaning up after their pets, grills being used on many balconies which is not allowed but not enforced. The apartments are truly gross. Old carpet that they feel only needs a cleaning before the next tenant moves in, appliances that are so 1980's the cabinets are seriously from when this complex was built and the smell, the bugs, the water leaks, tenants parking where ever they want, the office rarely answers the phone, the office employees are pathetic, and of all things...How much they charge you for pet deposits of which I would say 60% of the tenants haven't paid. They claim certain pet types, but hear this Pitbulls and Rottweillers are in these apartments. Nothing is monitored!!! You have fees for water added on but yet you pay also to Key West Authority for water...go figure. The laundry area is NASTY as hell and your their washing clothes. As I tell you this yes I have lived in these apartments but so others understand just how NASTY and how 2300.00 for a 3/2 that is 1000 sq ft or 1995.00 for a 2/1 that is 800 sq ft. Sure new management but REALLY. Julio is pathetic !! Megan is not any better!! Karen tries and is sincere but one person can't do it. THIS PLACE IS DIRTY AND THE LACK OF YARD CLEANING THE HALLS HAVE DOG CRAP AND PISS, ELEVATOR IS ALWAYS WITH DOG PISS. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO THE HOMELESS MUCH LESS ANYONE THAT CAN PAY RENT

Horrible place to live. Under new management and over priced! The fees are outrageous as well as a grandfathered resident wanting to down grade due the the prices. Does not help out a current tenant, let alone a new one! Typical greedy corporation, gauging the average Key West income citizens who have a hard enough time making it here. Manager is from Miami and has the attitude of high style, high class and treats one with a snobbish, low class, piece of crap. Lacks in customer service, busy attending to distractions rather than one on one personal attention. Obviously Key West is not his style. The staff is nice, but a fake nice. Makes everything at Ocean Walk seem so wonderful... BS! Can't think of one thing that has been worth the money I have paid! Company does not care about the well being of average Key West citizen and the struggle to make it here as well as lack of competition unlike the mainland. The rules are harsh, as the fees and refuse to work with you. You will regret accepting a term here. Like any other company, only care about themselves, serve themselves rather than serve the customer!

I read the old reviews and was a bit worried but decided to check it out. As most places in the keys, it is old and needs a bit of updating. ----- was pleasant, easy to work with and upfront on both the cost and expectations of the renters. The pool area and Tennis courts look updated and well maintained. The planting and landscape are what you would expect, but the day I was there they were planting new flowers by the office and sign. I see improvements from the last time I looked at this option. I am someone who is searching for a place to stay when I visit the Keys seasonly.

DO NOT MOVE HERE the entire place is disgusting and the appliances in the apartment all barely work. They rip you off for EVERYTHING. The worst part about oceanwalk is the office staff. They are very rude, not helpful at all, and they hide fees from you until the last minute on a friday so you are forced to have another fee on top of that. REALLY PEOPLE DO NOT MOVE HERE FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. Even if the rent seems cheap it wont be after they get you with all their fees.

Ocean Walk, where to start. We ended up living here because it seemed to be the most practical when we moved across country & were unable to come check places out ahead of time. The Community manager, ----- was very kind & helpful with our move. However, once we got here it seems no one is ever in the office, they never answer the phone nor return any voicemails. We were told at move in our balcony door which is pretty much impossible to open would be fixed... That was six months ago. Since the. I've put in two online service request without even getting acknowledged back. Next, this place is overflowing with Navy people & they is not enough parking by far, so expect a phone call from a very rude woman in the office named --- telling you your car is going to be towed more often then not. There's raccoons eating garbage everywhere, your toilet will run & get you a $200 water bill & no one will care. $1345 for a one bedroom with this place is most definitely not worth it. Believe me when I say there are way better options in key west thanOcean Walk.

Office phones don't get answered and calls do not get returned. You have to constantly keep on them to get a work order taken care of. Now the grounds are kept up and the pool but as for communication, I'll give them an F

From what I can gather from most of the reviews posted either these people are brand new to Key West or they are just not being fair. I do think I pay too much in rent; however, I just don't see this problem changing. As for the view, I like watching the planes, at the pool it is fantastic. This is apartment life. It is what you make if it. All the other amenities people are looking for; maybe try Ohio. I like it here.

We were lucky to get into this apartment when we did in June. This place goes for 2000 that we live in right now. Its very small.. one bedroom a twin bed and you can get a tv stand and a dresser in it. the other bedroom a queen and dresser tv. kitchen is ok, nice size living room, no dining room area in my opining without the living area being apart of it... thats the inside... the maintnace come when sent most of the time.. do they fix things.... yeah for a temporary time, and they never clean up. The outide of the place is terrible.. try finding a parking space is hard after 8. so those of you that work a night time job, dont expect to be close to your home in any way. As for lanscape, its kept up pretty well, except for the Dog poop EVERYWHERE, the elevators break every other day, so if you live on the 4th floor, be prepared to walk those steps down and up. forget it, if you have laundry... 40% of the time there broken machines, or the dryers dont dry your clothes, cleaning out the lint and everything, you end up paying 3$ just to dry one load of laundry.. the elevators people smoke in, weed, and there dogs pee in the elevators... its a horrible place to live.. i still have a few months left of my lease and cant WAIT to get out of here! Never agian!

I've been living here for two years. Ocean walk is exactly that, bearable. It's not the absolute worst place to live but it is far from the best. The apartments are expensive but you assume they are going to be living in Key West. I am a very reasonable person though and I feel that the apartments have so much potential that is wasted, so yes, they do overcharge. The concrete stairs walking up the the apartments always have chunks broken off. The apartments have very cheap berber carpet which I dislike very much. It wouldn't be so bad except they expect you to pay to have the carpet replaced when you move out even though the carpet is five years old and needs to be replaced anyway. They do everything in their power to keep your security deposit. Even if the apartment is exactly the way that you left it, they will find a way. Also, in the two years i've been here, we put in numerous work orders. Our air conditioning was practically broken for about 8 months. We had a child in the house and it was just awful. It was ALWAYS hot. The maintenance men came to fix it like they were supposed to about 15 times. It was never properly fixed though, I appreciated them coming over so often to TRY to fix it but after a few months, they should have just hired someone who was competent enough to do the job instead of making us suffer. We also put in work orders for water damage that was coming from the apartment above us which they never came to fix. There were a few other small things we had to put work orders in for. One was damage to the wall in the front bedroom because water was coming in from outside. They said that they completed this but no one ever even came over! I had to buy paint from them to paint the apartment before I moved out even though, after two years, you know they are going to repaint the apartment themselves anyway. They are always just looking for ways to save even the slightest amount of money. Lastly, because my sister put in so many work orders, the people in the office didn't like her and because of this reason, they said that we couldn't renew our lease. Yeah, that sounds fair. Hah. There are two laundry facilities on the property. They are both awful. They are very expensive and very, very few of the washers and dryers actually work. Usually, its a guessing game and I've lost a great deal of money trying to do laundry. If it does take your money, which is will, the office doesn't care and they tell you to call the company number on the washers. Like they are going to do anything. Listen, I've lived her for a while. I am not some bitter tenant who has a grudge against Oceanwalk and is just leaving a bad review to spite them. I do know that some people enjoy living here. I do like that Seaside (a small grocery/deli) is located at the entrance when you are coming in and they are open until midnight which is very convenient and they guy who is normally in there is very friendly. The parking is usually decent and I can't complain there. Don't park anywhere that you aren't supposed to though, they have a deal worked out with the towing company and they are VERY fast about towing. It's never happened to me but I know a few people that it has happened to. Overall, no, I would not recommend this apartment complex.

Could Be So Much Nicer
At first glance, this place looks decent, but it could be SO much better. It's a great location right across from the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. The landscaping and grounds around the rental office are pretty and maintained. Unfortunately, it ends there. First of all, this place isn't inexpensive. I hate to say this, but by the look of many of the tenants, I wonder how many of them can even afford to live here. The grounds around the apartments are full of dog poop despite the bags and cans placed around the property for this very purpose. The inner courtyards are a landfill of cigarette butts that probably date back to the Civil War era. The apartments themselves offer good floor plans and layouts. The balconies are large and covered and it's obvious some tenant have made an effort to make them nice. Others seem to think they are are dumping grounds for all sorts of junk. The condition of the carpets in the apartments (at least mine) upon move in was disgusting. It was clear it had not been thoroughly cleaned between tenants and was in dire need of replacement. I promptly went out and bought several cans of carpet cleaner that did help make it tolerable. With enough air fresheners I was able to mask the sour smell that seemed to permeate the entrance of the apartment. The interiors are sad and dated - the counter tops are cheap formica that have been even more cheaply painted over in a poor attempt to look refinished. The laundry rooms are even more gagging. Half of the washers and dryers don't function properly - it's a guessing game which ones work and which ones don't. Thankfully I was clued in by a kind fellow tenant who gave me the low down early on a few that were functional. They must not have any pet restrictions at all. I swear several tenants are operating kennels in their apartments. Don't get me wrong, I love pets and I have one but she is well behaved AND I PICK UP HER POOP!!! I will say that the management is very friendly and nice as well as helpful. I guess there is enough of a demand and turnover that the company that owns this dump can get by without making much needed updates and basic decencies (such as a clean presentable carpet). If you need a short term place to live and have no other alternatives, I suppose you can make it work like I did. Just make sure to stock up on the 409 carpet cleaner from K Mart - you'll need it!

DO NOT LIVE HERE!
These apartments are TRASH! My husband and I are a military family and chose to live here because the price was reasonable for Key West. We made the BIGGEST mistake. The leasing office employees are horrible at communicating with you and the lease has all kinds of hidden things in it. They NEVER clean the hallways or stairwells (they are littered with feces from racoons and food people just toss out and don't pick up). There is glass everywhere in the grass, I know people who have had to go to the ER because the maintenance crew didn't clean up after themselves and left SOAP all over the stairs. The pet fee is $500 and in order to break a lease you have to pay 1.5% times your rent. The apartments are tiny for what you are paying and parking is a nightmare. If you come home past 6pm, good luck finding a place to park. Do yourself a favor and LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE! Do not give these people a dime of your money! There are MUCH nicer places to live in Key West! I've had to write multiple letters to the corporate office already expressing how many problems I've had. I've seen drunk people puking in hallways and peeing in the elevators before. Awesome place to live? I think not.

Great place to live
I have lived at Ocean Walk for over a year and absolutely love it here. The staff truly cares about the people living here. We are invited to parties and emailed by the Manager regularly. The maintenance staff never hesitates to stop and say HI and ask how we are daily. The property is kept very clean. We absolutely love that they love our dog, they know him by name which is so sweet to me. It's sad to read these other reviews because the Ocean Walk I live at is very pleasurable, down to doing my laundry with the open beautiful breeze in the laundry room. Everyone has their own opinion but trust me if you move here you also will see what I am writing about for yourself.

Not a desirable place to live.
If you re looking for a place to live that might survive a hurricane this place just might. That's the only good thing about this place. It has been 5 years since I lived in Ocean Walk, and I can still remember the problems living there. At first it was not so bad until Key West started to build low income housing and the next thing there was a flood of immigrant construction workers. A bunch of them moved into Ocean Walk and place started to go downhill quickly. Halls that were clean then became dirty and smelling. The apartment I lived in was bug free until, A family of 4 adults and unknown kids moved into the apartment next to me, not a week later there were roaches in the hallway only because they were too lazy to take their trash out that they left sitting outside their door. Then there was a infestation of Bed Bugs. The elevators never worked. The Raccoons run rampant, not much they can do about that problem. The swimming pool was always full of kids and maintenance was almost nonexistence, and people wonder why their kids are always sick. And do you think the management lifted a finger to take care of any of these problems, their only purpose in life is to collect rent. And what others have written I found to be true. They will not release you from your contract unless you pay two months rent. OUCH!!!!!! Overall if you're a very sound sleeper and don t mind smelly hallways and inattentive staff then this is the place for you. Otherwise there are better place to rent in the lower keys.

Do not rent from these people. Horrible experience
We moved in and agreed to sign a 7 month lease. The lease that was drawn up was a one year lease. Not thinking they would have changed the terms of our agreement, we both signed this new lease - yes it was dumb not to scan it again, but... lesson learned. We were trapped in this nightmare building for what seems like an eternity. Stairs and corridors / common areas are filthy, they never clean them, pool is open to all the kids of Key West and do not leave ANYTHING in your garage or outside your door as it will get stolen in a minute. The people that live here are really decent, but I have not heard one of the neighbors say they will stay on after their lease expires. Too many negative things to name. Watch out what you sign. Neighbor upgraded to a larger apartment and after she moved in was told they "forgot" to let her know there is a $500 change fee - one of many similar stories. Heavy late fees in the hundreds of dollars for just a few days paying late. Do yourself a favor and talk to some of the tenants before you decide to move into this dump!

DO NOT LIVE HERE
If you move to Key West, do not move to Ocean Walk apartments. I am a military employee and have lived in several apartments throughout my career. This is by far, the worst place I have ever lived. Living in Key West, where everything is priced very high, you are ultimately paying to live in paradise . However, this apartment complex is far from paradise . The staff is not very friendly and could learn a few lessons on customer service and customer relations. None of the apartments have washer/dryers in the unit so you have to use the community one. Many of the machines do not work and if they do, it is a gamble since it may take your money and not dry or wash your clothes completely. It is a pet friendly community, but be careful not to step in any dog feces since it is everywhere and not cleaned often!! The area is very dirty and smelly, since many residents believe in throwing their trash everywhere except the trash can. My fianc es windows was busted in our parking garage a few months ago and some of his valuable possessions were stolen they have had a few break ins in this complex. Beware, the rent increases every year!! They are not small increases either in my opinion, if you are military move on base, or go to other areas within Key West to look for housing. Many people have said there are better deals up the Keys..there are other options but Ocean Walk is not of them. Las Salinas, The Golf Course, and Salt Ponds are better apartment complexes to live in with better rates! I would never live here again!

lived there 1 year (2009 to 2010)
I lived there for a year. There were a lot of partying noise on week ends, public areas (such as hall way laundry rooms etc) weren't very clean. However, it's hard to find a nice place with $1500 in Key West. $50 additional for parking garage. I wouldn't recommend to anyone if you have to live there for a long time.

Sorry to hear
I lived there from 1999 to 2001 while working at what used to be the Mariott Casa Marina. I have to agree with the guy who lived there in the 90s. When I lived there it was one of the better places. We had tennis courts, a pool, basketball courts. They were pretty picky on who they let in. So I am disappointed with what I have read too. I was hoping to move back one day with my new wife.

DONT move here
There is urine everywhere! this place is so dirty, the elevators smell like smoke and animal pee. The "cleaning lady" leaves a bigger mess with her carts dirty wheels than she does cleaning. she also doesn't wear a uniform, I thought she was a homeless woman pushing a shopping cart when I saw here for the first time. Staff only "cleans" with a dirty broken broom on the ground level. Dryers are always broken. Ocean Walk has taken at least $50 of mine from the broken machines (only 12-16 for 440apartments). Staff is lazy and maintenance is slow. Apartments are small and over priced. There is never any parking!

Move here until you find a better place.
On my moving day, I showed up the apartment wasn't ready, and this is after talking to NAMRITA for weeks letting her know exactly when I'll be coming. I drove 4 hours got there at 9:00 AM expecting to pick up my keys and move in to my apartment, instead I didn't get to step foot into the apartment until 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I should have never signed that lease because after I moved in I had to call the maintenance guys several times to come and fix my bedroom door, the sliding door and my toilet which took him about a month to fix. In the mean time my water bill just kept on going up and it took three months for Namrita to finally decide to reimburse me after giving me the run-around and putting the blame on the water company. I'm just waiting for my lease to be up so I can move the ---- out. Oh and not to mention the ------- dumpster right in front of my door, every time I step out I get a whiff of garbage, no wonder she didn t show me the apartment when I was looking but instead showed me a similar one. To make things even worst I have to pay for laundry and there is no storage space inside the apartment.

If you like your rent to go up $300 more at end of lease
This place is ridiculous. They never call you back when they say they will. You have to go to the office to talk face to face to get an answer. I tried to renew my lease thinking it would be the same or lower because they told me that it would. When a month went by I get a letter in the mail that my rent(normally $1600.) went up to about $1950. When I went there they told me I needed to give a two month notice or I would be charged almost $2000. for next month following the end of my lease. They are so fake at the office acting like may be they care until you rent. Also this place is so ------, if you like people partying next door till the am, listening to peoples dogs bark and also people playing nasty rap as loud as they can at 1-3 am. They rent to anybody. This place is definitely not for children. Also they let all kinds of dogs here including the fighting breads how i this safe?

Ghettowalk is correct...
How would you like to live in a place where the walls are cracking, the office staff is very rude and things are promised to be fixed but never are? Neighbors bang on their doors at 11:30 at night for a half hour because they are locked out. The elevator is always broken and they are too cheap to replace the with new ones. How about the place is infested with bedbugs. Trash sits outside of peoples doors for days without being thrown away. Drunk people pass out underneath the stairs and nothing is done about it. If that sounds like your dream place then Oceanwalk is right for you. Heres a scenerio for you, I was walking my dog the other night around 2:00 a.m. and someone from the office staff gets out of a taxi, drunk and on the phone yelling and cussing at who she is talking with on the phone, all the way up the elevator and into his/her apartment. Thats always a pleasure! I have been living here for almost 2 years now and have not enjoyed it at all. I am thankful my lease is up here soon so I can leave Oceanwalk. This place is the ------ of all ------ and I would not recommend it to anyone!

------ Walk
I've been on a lease here at GhettoWalk since 2006. Since then someone has tried to break into my apartment, my car has been hit in the parking lot, my laundry has been ruined by the horrible maintenance of the clothes care facilities, my dishwasher took a crap, my freezer doesn't freeze things properly, and I was harassed by the staff about parking my scooter. I've been paying for covered parking all along, yet there is no space assigned to me, and no one is willing to tell me how much I've paid and when I'll be getting my space. So I fight for parking, just like everyone else. People park in front of fire hydrants, and you can't call to get them towed because the management has to do that. Resident safety is definitely NOT #1 here at GhettoWalk. Come as you are - criminal convictions for being a child molester or sex offender? You're in! 12 people to an apartment? You're in! Get divorced? Sorry, you need to come have a little chat with the office.

Things must have changed considerably
I lived at Ocean Walk from 1990-1992, and it was one of the best times of my life. We had a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment, everything appeared to be brand new (not sure if we were the first residents in the apartment or not), the grounds were beautiful, the pool was very nice (and it appeared that all rules & regulations were adhered to), the maintenance staff was great and the office staff was very nice. They were fairly strict on occupancy and pets, so I didn't see any overcrowding or pet droppings. I'm fairly depressed after reading all the negative reviews. I had hoped to move back to Key West, and Ocean Walk, one day. I guess I'll re-think the Ocean Walk part of that dream.

Really its not that bad...
I have lived at Ocean Walk since 1995....and I have seen it bad...things have gotten soo much better here. In a town where when you own a private condo...or a private house and your landlords can come in whenever they want to..at least we know that Ocean Walk does not do that. People we will always have issues wherever they go...but would we want to move to West Isle..where they do not even check criminal backgrounds??? I agree that there were construction workers living here and things were bad...but they are gone now...and things have changed big time!! Everyone is soooo harsh on the office staff and maintenance...but do we ever give them kudos for trying to make this place better? When I lived here we never had a courtesy officer patrol the pool and remove people that do not live here. The Manager and the Assistant Manager and Maintenance are working hard to keep us happy..and maybe we do not realize how hard it is for them. Yes, I know it may not be perfect....and it may not be the best place to live...but at least we know that we are backed by a corporation and cannot get screwed with legitimate situations. Some of the reviews speak about the manager and a maintenance screwing around...what I want to know is...has anyone served as the mattress to confirm that they did? We have gone from rating the apartments to bullcrap....I would not choose anywhere else to live here in Key West. And no I do not work in the office writing this posting but am a long time resident, that sees many changes. They cannot help that residents have people staying with them that are not on the lease, because they cannot qualify due to their criminal backgrounds, and will be denied. People should care about where they live. Key West is expensive and should not be compared to living in other places. I feel that we should give them some credit...no one is perfect but they all are really trying...and also this website is apartment ratings...not comments on peoples personal life...so maybe we should leave it to that...seeing all the changes that have been made...I would recommend Ocean Walk to anyone moving to Key West. It is not just up to the staff of Ocean Walk to take care of the place..but it is up to us residents to take of where we live....no one is perfect at their job...but do not be so harsh...if their is a maintenance person that is rude...then try talking to the office, the two ladies really try their best to make everyone happy....speak to them and give them a chance..if they do not know, they cannot correct the issue.I have gone to them with issues and they have found a way to correct it, and I appreciate that!!!..and again I am a long time resident..that cares..sorry if you do not!!! Instead of spending time complaining...use that time to make a difference or move out!!!
