Great Place/Awful Management
When I first found this Apartment Complex I found it to be very nice. There are lots of trees, it is quite, and appeared to be kept clean and in order. I was right about most of this. The other tenenats were very nice, my children and I enjoyed the pool that was available and when ever we had a maintenance problem it was always taken care of in a timely manner. However, Judy who is one of Managers in the office made my family feel uncomfortable on more than one occassion. She not only approached us DRUCK and STUBLING in the parking lot once but TWICE and demanded that we follow "rules" that we were unware of and were not in the lease agreement when we asked the Office Manager following the incident she apologized for Judy's inappropriate behavior and made me aware that those were not the rules and she would address my problem. I never heard back from the Office Manager and the harrassment continued from Judy and her roomate/girlfriend. At the end of my lease Judy's girlfriend began staring, watching and harrassing my children and spewed racial slurs at me about my children. When I went to address the Property Manager was unavailable and was not going to be available to help me for three days after the incident occurred as she was out "sick". So who do I contact when her "substitute" is the one harassing me? I have every intention to reach the OWNER of this establishment and will be contacting the Better Business Beaureau with my complaints. I have lived in the Sarasota/Charlotte County area for 26 years. My mother and father have always taught me that "word of mouth" is very powerful and I will speak about my experience here and I will let it be known that I was mistreated and no one tried resolve the issue. I thought that this day in age that people would be more tolerant and accepting howver Judy and her girlfriend have shown me that there is still ignorance in our world and that our children to come will need to learn to rise and overcome this UNACCEPTABLE way of thinking.

Former Employee Tells the Truth...
As a former resident & employee of Timberlake Apartments I'd like to share some hard facts with everyone! The situation was so bad that I was fired for "Blowing the Whistle!" I complained about many of the extremely unhealthy issues, such as mold, repair issues, bugs and over all cleanilness of the apartments!!! What renters don't realize is that the parent company has been struggling for years.... At times payroll checks even bounced. Most sub-contractors were NOT getting paid at all... What that means is that the Lawn would go un-cut for weeks and weeks until they'd finally hire (trick) another landscaper to work for them until they too would walk of the job for none payment! Apartments would not get prepared properly... (Cleaned, repaired, painted, carpet cleaned or replaced, dirty appliances, etc.) Mold is a HUGE problem.... It is inside of many of the walls and/ or in the A/C compartments!!! The painter was intructed to paint over mold, instead of maintenance repairing the problems and removing it properly. There are actually some apartments that have had the walls removed in an attempt to get at the mold and nothing else was done... THESE APARTMENTS SIT VACANT BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT CONTROL THE MOLD! The health department closed the pool and my boss reopened it without proper repair or inspection. The pool and whirlpool are NOT up to code! The spa pump and heater need repair and there is a leak! The pool grate does not fit properly! Most of the apartments have original appliances that are indeed rusted and most stoves have burners that don't work. Refrigerators are small and smelly and most ice makers have been removed because they broke!!! (Management DOES NOT repair ice makers! Too costly and/ or some are soooo old that replacements can NOT be found!)Air Conditioners are old, loud and very ineffecient! Making the renters electric bill OUTRAGEOUS!!! Most apartment have extremely old, peeling brown particle board cabinets. (A few have been nicely updated, those are the ones they show you when your shopping for a place!) Did I mention the BUGS!!!!!!!!!!! BUGS!!!!!!!!!! BUG!!!!!!!!! What is so terrible if that management is so threatening to renters if they are late with a Zero-Tolerance or your OUT policy, but they do not maintain the property well or pay their bills??? This IS the truth! Please, do not allow yourself to be a victim. Ask around, call the Better Business Bureau, research the owner and his management company and decide for yourself.

The SLUMS!!!!
There is NO pool furniture, dog crap everywhere, the company doesn't pay it's bills so nothing EVER gets taken care of on the property, the staff has changed about six times in the last year, there is black mold throughout the buildings posing a huge health risk, the appliances are old and broken down, carpets are filthy, stained, gross and they will not change them out, no carpet cleaning on renewals (that's what I was told at lease renewal which is why I'm moving), they lie, lie, lie..... no grass, no mulch, just DIRT everywhere, drug dealers galore throughout the property, holes in the apartment floors under the carpet, exterior stairs that are about to fall off the building (can you say LAWSUIT??????????) They are letting anyone and everyone move in because they are desperate to fill the apartments, consequently white people are the minority - it's mostly -------- and ------....... junky, loud cars litter the parking lot, scummy little unsupervised kids running all over the property, bugs, bugs, bugs everywhere - roaches, spiders and ants throughout..... Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction - it is the shittiest property in Sarasota and the fact that it is in Palm Air Country Club is a JOKE!!!!! CNC Investments is sucking the money out of this and all of their properties and funneling it back into the Indian owner's pocket!!!! They treat their employees like absolute dirt and threaten their jobs constantly! I feel bad fr the people who work there! DO NOT RENT THERE - Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!!!!!!! They have had so many lawsuits filed against them it's ridiculous!!!!! They are greedy Indian PIGS!!!!

Would only recommend if you were a college student on a budget. Not too satisfied.
I moved here with my room mate the summer after my sophomore year in college, So i have been here to 2 years and ready to move on in about a month. I have to say that its better living then in the dorms, but at the same time, I wasn't picky from the get-go because I knew that with my limited budget, it wouldn't be a 5 star living situation. HOWEVER, I do agree with some of the negative comments made. -The management has changed about 5 times since I've been here. I does get quite annoying, and they aren't the nicest people in the world. The think that because I'm young, I'm very naive. WRONG! -The appliances are very old! My dishwasher is currently broken (water won't drain out) I asked them to fix it, someone came by, drained the water but didn't fix the problem. I am currently washing my dishes by hand. I had to FIGHT for a new fridge because mine was leaking, thus causing mold inside and out of the fridge and wet soggy food. When we threated with the family lawyer, they did something about it. The ceiling leaked because the upstairs air condition was leaking and came through to our floor. Among those major problems Iv had my air conditioner freeze over, my toilet leaking, as well as my room mates toilet running all the time, power serges, the lights flicker every time you turn something on, especially the washer & dryer! -There are some bug issues, but we live in Florida, you have your window, & patio door open or your going in and out of the apt. frequently, It whats expected in FL no matter where you live. (I recommend "Tero" for ants, they only sell it @ Ace Hardware and it work AMAZING!) -When the dishwasher is "working", not even pre-washing will remove all the spots, I often had take them out and wash by hand, or put then back in for another cycle. Oh and only two of the stove burners work efficiently. I usually use my own electric skillet. One thing I was excited about was the hot tub, but its probably worked 3 times in the 2 years iv been here. But after reading the health warnings, I'm glad I didn't use it often. I live in the back on the coldesack, so parking want THAT bad, and the noise was doable, however the dumpster pick up loves to come empty the dumpsters at about 7am on a sat. morning. So do the lawn people. They also raised my rent when I re-signed my lease, despite the housing market, and lack of occupancy in the community. There are cheaper ways to live, next time I'm going to rent a house for half the price. If I had a family here I would be upset about everything too. I don't blame people for all the nasty comments. I personally cant wait to move on to a nicer place.

They have a spa?
Wow, reading some of these reviews, I'm sort of surprised these people are talking about the place that I live. I've been living in a one-bedroom Timberlake apartment for about six months now, and honestly, I haven't had any complaints. The spa is screwed up? The pool equipment is broken? I had no idea they had any of this stuff to begin with. Here's why I'm pleased with this place: unlike every other sub-1000 dollar rental in Sarasota, it doesn't look like a mess, there are always parking spaces in front of my apartment, the rooms in my apartment came well-painted and clean, and generally, "Timberlake apartments" isn't a blip on my daily radar. For this, I love the place. It's in a quiet area, so I never hear cars or sirens or any of that. It's a minutes drive from: an Albertsons, a Walmart, a Sweetbay, Blockbuster, two pharmacies, a Blockbuster, several restaurants, and on and on. It's made me sort of lazy having everything so close by. Regarding my neighbors and the Timberlake office staff: I have no idea. I don't know my neighbors, nor have I heard anything through our shared wall. I have not had a need to speak with the office staff, as nothing has broken or been problematic. I haven't had mold, or insects, or anything like that. So, yeah. For those of us that have a day job and stuff to do, and aren't really interested in stress testing their jazzercize equipment, Timerblake is pretty decent. I've had awful apartments in the past, is this is decidedly not one of them.

Horrible!!
Every single bad comment below is the truth! The place saves money and puts tennants health at risk! Cannot tell you when the spa worked and the pool was always being shut down by the health dept. A friend of mine is actually in the process of filing a law suit against the company. DO NOT MOVE HERE!

Health & Saftey ALERT
Warning: TimberLake of PalmAir off Whitfield, Sarasota, Florida is full of mold, filth and bugs. Some buildings are worst than others. Buildings 8,10,11,16,19,21,22 have excessive mold crawling chest high up the walls or in A/C vents. Residents report sudden unexplained health issues such as coughing, allergies and asthma! Roaches, spiders and ants in all buildings. Pool and spa pumps work inadequately below health dept. standards. Appliance in most units out dated or barely operational. Many carpets not cleaned upon new move-in. Some died to hide excessive pet stains. Mangement does not address problem... Claims to have money issues. Company owned by CNC Investments, TEXAS. Beware they own many properties throughout US and do not pay there bills. Venders always quiting... Lawns do not get cut, apartments go without repainting or carpet cleaning... Just Filth! Looks can be deceiving... First glance the lake and pool areas look relaxing and tranquil. Take a GOOD look! Pool furniture (What there is of it) is broken and straps missing. Lake has garbage and beer cans floating in it. Cigarette butts are everywhere!

The nicest place to live!
I have been a resident at TimberLake for over 5 years and this is a nice older community with a great staff!! Tia, Judy, Randi, Alden and Rudy have been all very helpful in my needs over the past year. I have read some of these reviews and felt compelled to write my comments on this site. (which is just a cop out for people who do not have the guts to go to the office in person). I have a dog and have met many residents during my walks and it's nice to hear other residents talk about how nice the staff is and how anytime they have called in a work order things get done right away. Timberlake is a nice place to live with a caring staff that go above and beyond.

The Worst Management EVER!!!!!!
Been here for over a year now and I think the office staff have changed 4 or 5 times. I've repeatedly requested maintenance fix various things (I always drop off a polite, typed letter and follow up with polite, concise phone messages)...and they NEVER...EVER...FIX...ANYTHING. They completely ignore you OR...once when I asked for something (a safety hazard) to be fixed, the office woman on the other end of the phone literally told me to "get over it." The appliances barely work (and are from the Mesozoic Age, when I moved in, there were stains all over my carpet, a giant hole in the living room wall, molding peeling (or hanging) off, broken window blinds, a fridge that dripped everywhere, holes in the back porch screen, and an AC unit that didn't work at all. Now I have an AC unit that sometimes blows cool air, cooling things off to 80 if I'm lucky. Nothing else has ever been fixed. IN OVER A YEAR. It's just gross. And other posters are right there's dog ---- everywhere. And garbage. And loud, tacky, messy neighbors. Oh, and no outgoing mail anywhere because I was told they "had to remove the outgoing mail slot in the mail area because people kept vandalizing it." I'll be out of here ASAP.

do yourself a favor...
DO NOT RENT HERE! The only thing nice about Timberlake is the location. The complex itself is horrible!!!! My neighbors are inconsiderate and rude. The walls are paper thin. I can hear the person upstairs when she walks. I can hear my neighbor playing video games next door. Everyone parks their cars like they have their eyes closed. I have seen so many people parked up on the curb, or totally outside the space. Not worth the money, AT ALL! I'd maybe pay $200 a month to live here, not $720. Oh and I'm pretty sure there is a mold issue. The fridge is stained and the seal is breaking. THe A/C unit is extremely inefficient. You can't open the windows, they are stuck shut. The back porch is absolutley gross. The staff chages monthly. I could go on forever. Just please, please, please don't rent here. I have 3 months left in my lease and am actively looking for another place to live. I can't wait to get out of here!!!

They only have pictures of the clubhouse bEEEcause....
clubhouse is adorable..and that is why they only have pictures of the clubhouse in ads. The rest of the complex is ugly and overpriced The buildings are old and outdated. The kitchen was soo used and outdated.. and the burners broke every 5 minutes and maintenance took forever to come out.. The pool was always dirty. The lake was very pretty..and full of duck crap. The best things this place has going for it? The clubhouse with the cute little flowers hanging from the window... and the location location location..making it nice and overpriced:) there is my two cents on that one.

Wow, this place really SUCKS!!!!
If you want a quality place to live this is by far the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. I hated living here!!! Everything was broken, nobody picks up after their dogs (so watch where you step), it smells really bad, and the office workers are both cruel and evil. The only reason why i didn't move out of this hellhole is because my job didn't pay well. On top of all that Timberlake raised their prices drastically. Are you kidding me!!! The office's staff are dumb enough to raise the price for a crappy little apartment. The only good thing about Timberlake Apartments in Sarasota is the fantastic matinence workers. They are the best and nicest Matinence guys I have ever met. They should ditch Timberlake and work somewhere where they are appreciated. My hopes go out to you (You guys know who you are).

Rip Off
My boyfriend lived in Timberlake for a little over a year and I lived with him for a brief period of 4 months. It was HORRIBLE! The dishwasher was broken for over a month so we hand washed dishes every night. The toilet leaked water and literally flooded the bathroom floor for about 3 weeks, before the maintenance team finally took care of it. We also lived on the top floor and the roof was leaking and the paint and everything bubbled up on the wall and left stains. There were little knat like bugs everywhere. It was disgusting! By the time he moved out, they were charging $750 for that $#%! hole! I would never ever recommend Timberlake regardless of your desperation for an inexpensive apartment!

Bware of false promises
After living in a one bedroom for a year my wife and I moved into a two bedroom nightmare. The electric was faulty and management was full of false hope and promises. A huge let down. We have since left and are still haunted by the traumatic event. Don't waste your time.

STILL HAPPY AND SATISFIED
I have been here almost a year and yes have seen the staff change quite often. But that has not affected me nor the enviroment. Timberlake is conveniently located in Sarasota, close to shopping, interstate, beaches, and provides all neccessities.
The apartment is spacious and utilities are inexpensive compared to others I have lived in Sarasota. I suggest you rent here and you will be happy if you just pay your rent and not cause problems. I dont want trash or noisy neighbors next to me. It is very peaceful

DO NOT RENT HERE
I have been living here at Timberlake since Septemeber. When I moved in, the blinds didn't work, the front window was about to fall out of the wall, the fireplace screen is all torn to hell and the paint on the wall in bedroom was peeling off, needless to say, the problems I listed about this apartment HAVE NOT CHANGED.
About 5 months ago, I started complaining my air was not working! It still isn't. I have notified management, maintanence, the district office, everyone I could think of and still nothing has been done about it. My power bill is over $230 mos because the air runs and runs and runs. I have to keep it set at 70 degrees just to keep it below 85 in the apartment. The apartment is 700 sp ft and a 1 bedroom. There is no reason my power bill should be this much.
When I call the front office, nobody cares, they tell me the same thing, they say that it's because I live on the second floor that my apartment is a sauna! I am not a hard person to please, I would just like to be able to sit in my apartment and not sweat. When I went to bed last night at 11, it was 86 in my apartment.
On top of the air, I am beginning to believe there is a mold problem. When I am at home, I get dizzy spells and headaches. When I am outside or at work, I am fine. Go figure.

I would rather live in the projects then this hell hole. The sign out front should say, "Welcome to Hell". Not home.

Management is less than desireable....
With the competition in the rental market right next door, you would think that the management here would be more interested in keeping their tenants.

As long as you are paying rent or a prospect, they are happy. As soon as you give notice that you are leaving, they treat you like dirt.

Really a disappointment after two years of being a good tenant.

I just moved in and it is really nice. Close to the interstate and 301. Very close to shopping and we have a new Target on the way within .4 mile. Nice golf course right behind the apartments. Considering all of Sarasota prices - this is really the best deal.

I had no problems
I lived in Phase 2 of the apartment complex for almost a year. The staff was always very nice and if they didn't tend to my problem right away I called again. No one was ever nasty or rude to me and my fiance. They do need to manage the trash around the dumpsters better since it piles up behind them. Parking in this phase was ample and we never experienced any problems. Yeah there are bugs but it's Florida and they were exterminating quite often. I would recommend Phase 2 over the first phase since it's smaller and quiet.
