electric bills
I have a 2 BR 2BA with a loft and our light bill this month is 301$ and has never been under 200$ These are poorly built apartments. Mold on the outside needs pressure washing. Wasp nest in the busted, rotted wood around the porch. No closet space. Washer and Dryer very small. Walls are very thin, we can hear neighbors downstairs and next door. Also, the gates are never closed and people go in and out the wrong way. The pool looks as though there is mold in it. We moved here in a pinch and got the first month free along with no deposit and now I see why. Also the apartment staff are rude and hateful. The golf course is nice but we can't park close to the apartment because our cars are always getting hit by golf balls. Also you have to be careful about the racoons in the trash and in the bushes near the apartments. We are hoping to get out of our lease soon

Unresolved Issues
I have issues about noises from the dogs in the apartment upstairs from me. I have called the office several times, and they said they would be contactiing the resident, but there has been no change. I don't see why they cannot designate pet buildings, where everyone in the unit has an animal. This is not called "steering", as the office told me, because steering only refers to human racial or ethnic profiling. I know for a fact there are apartments in Georgia that do not even allow pets, and there are others that have a weight limit. If this is possible, why can't they designate a "pet building" where people all have pets and no one is disturbed by the noise they make. At least, put the owners of larger dogs on a first floor level so that the "thundering herd" is not constantly thumping overhead, or tell the owners to run the dogs outside if they must excercise. Also, the materials used in these buildings is so inferior and poorly constructed, I have problems even cleaning faucets, toilet seats, etc. The cabinets in the kitchen are coated with a white paper covering, they're not even painted, and the covering gets loose around the bottom edges. This is about the shoddiest construction job I've ever seen in my life. Everything is installed crookedly in the kitchen. There is almost no countertop space, and the appliances are the cheapest you can find. The shower plate to cover the hole where the spout is has rust all over it. The tiles are not placed properly. The sink stopper doesn't work, and it's worn so badly the finish looks terrible. I lived in an apartment in another state that puts this one to shame, and it was twice as old as these apartments! I wouldn't recommend these living conditions to anyone!

Beware - look somewhere else
Way overpriced for what you get. I was in a pinch for an apartment and boy do i regret it. Please look somewhere else, but not sure where to direct you. I came from out of state and had no one to help me out. CHEAP fixtures, cabinets, that i can handle. Walls aren't square, outlets aren't square, carpet stained and fraying, "fresh" paint job is patchy, it could be worse - and it is. Gated community? Only if the gates actually close. I'm on the first floor and just had someone move in above me. When they "walk" its STOMP, STOMP, STOMP. I can hear their conversations, coughing, yelling, and yesterday I could hear someone throwing up as i was getting ready for work, clear as day - pleasant, huh? At least I had two months of peace with no one above me. Maybe if you live on second floor the noise is not so bad - but i'm not sure. I had to call twice for a badly leaking window. My dryer was not working - took two months to get it replaced, toilet runs constantly - called to have it fixed and it stills runs unless you hold the handle down for 6 seconds and feel it "catch" then you have to let up on the handle and "jiggle" it slightly for the chain to seat the flapper properly. There should be a choice for zero stars for some of these categories. Location is good, the person i delt with to get the place is pleasant - of course they have to be to sucker you in. Please look elsewhere, i can't wait til my lease is up and i'm so glad i only signed for 7 months. The noise is the most unbearable part. and it makes me sick to pay so much for such a "CHEAP" apartment.

Not what you pay for!
I have lived in these apartments for almost a year now, and I am not pleased at all. We pay to live in a gated community, the gate is never closed! both pools are disgusting, and the smaller pool had mrsa bacteria so it was supposed to be closed and people were still swimming in it because it was not posted what was wrong with it. Lastly the women working at the leasing building are the rudist people I have ever met in my life. They have no personal skills, they always give short snotty answers.

Fine apt, lazy, discourteous staff staff
Coming from the D.C. area, I can't believe the price. I have a large 2 bedroom with 2 full baths and a full-size washer and dryer for less than $800/month. You can see where they cut some corners (cheaper cabinets, sink faucets), but you really can't beat the price. Quiet neighbors for the most part, I live on the bottom floor so of course I hear some noise upstairs, but anytime you aren't in a single-family home you HAVE to expect that. I pay about $20/month for water, and haven't ever paid more than $70/month for electricity, including summer. I dont know what that person is talking about with $250 a month, unless they keep it at 55 degrees, have a three-bedroom loft, OR it's broken and they haven't called maintenance. Speaking of, every single time I've called with a problem, and there have been a few, they fix it the same day. I feel very safe here, and again, you can't beat what you get for the price. **UPDATE When I moved out of the complex, early through my military clause, I sent a forwarding address for any utilities, etc. I never heard from them - nothing was ever sent to me - until two months later a CREDITOR CALLED ME saying I owed the complex about $70 for a bill. FUMING I called the Links and the woman told me they tried to send me the bill but it came back to them and they had no other way to reach me. Which was funny, because I know for a fact they had my phone number and they easily could have called me. I was never late on rent or any payment, and they "reward" me by not bothering to even call, but send my bill right to a creditor - thankfully I fixed it before it actually effected my credit. Talk about lazy and discourteous. For this fact alone, I would NEVER suggest anyone live here - the apartment themselves are fine, but the staff is not worth the hassle.

Do not rent here
A/C failed to cool the apartment. Eletric bill ran $250 plus. Nice on the outside falling apart inside. Website is a hoax. Turn-over in complex is high due to poor quality. Management fails to help residents.

A Dump...
These apartments look very nice from the outside, but are not set up very conveniently, (moving in and out sucked with our doors being a good 50 feet from the road, and a downhill slope from our front door leading right into a canal full of water!) and all the furnishings suck! The whole 7 months we lived there, the carpet was continually coming up on the stairs, there are only lights prepositioned in the bathrooms and on the stairs, all there rest you have to buy yourself, and our air conditioner was breaking every 3 or 4 weeks, and every 10-12 days in the summer. The repairmen are very nice and friendly, but must be being supplied with the wrong parts to fix things. As we were moving out, the kitchen cabinets started falling off, as they were all left-sided doors, and all the right sided ones were simply installed upside-down, and the hinges had begun snapping from the stress they weren't designed to take. And my biggest pet-peeve of the apartments are the STUPID rail systems the closets use! Every time i went in and out, it would pop off of it's railings, because the railing was so thin it easily deformed, and was so badly designed it suck a good 3/4" off of the floor and was continually being abused. They also didn't use plated screws to install the bathroom closets, so after we had been there a month, humidity had rusted through the installation screws, and the railings just snapped off at floor level, leaving jagged little rusty screw pieces sticking up! Also, the upper level apartments are TERRIBLY energy-inefficient! our monthly electricity bill was $200-230 on average, in our new home, with all the same appliances (and a few more) it's usually in the 110-140 ballpark. Our upper apartment was always too hot too, even when it was cold outside! I can see our lower neighbor in Arctic survival gear with his heater on full-blast, heat bleeding up into our apartment, with us in our underwear and our A/C on full blast! All of the office staff seemed to be on the slow side, with the exception of Georgia, who honestly did everything to help and was continually apologizing for the rest of the staff's screw-ups. UPS and Priority Mail packages too big for our mail box would be left at the office, who would notify us. We would show up to retrieve it, but in the span of half an hour, it had been lost, they seemed to throw all the packages into the front office rather haphazardly, and formed mountainous heaps of boxes from which there was little hope of rescue for a poor misplaced box. If you have the money to live here, buy a house, we only pay $200 dollars more a month now, and everything is so much nicer!

Not Worth the $$$$
I can not speak for all of the apartments here, but I can speak for mine. I live in the one bedroom 871 sqft, no loft. It is a lower level. The windows are amazing. I get so much wonderful sunlight. The apartment is spacious, with a walk in laundry room. Tile floor in the kitchen. The flow of the plan is great, and the bedroom is quite spacious. All of that said, I would not recommend living here, but only because it is way over priced for what you actually get. I live at the bottom of someone's stairs, literally. I sleep at the bottom of someone's stairs. It is like living underneath a herd of rhinos stampeding up and down all day and night. I can hear their TV, I an hear their radio, I can hear them flush the toilet, I can hear them talking, I can hear them walking, I even get the joy of hearing them have relations. It is like having roommates, behind a hidden wall. I pay $845 to live in someone's basement. I could get the same effect living in a college dorm, and pay half the money. I have complained to the office, and all they did was leave a note. I have called the courtesy officer, and it took them an hour to respond. If the rent wasn't so much, I would understand. However, these are supposed to be luxury apartments, and they simply are not. From the outside, they are so beautiful! However, the inside is a different story. The walls are made of plaster and plywood. The windows are huge, but poorly sealed. The carpet is thin and cheap. The kitchen cabinets have no knobs, and are covered with cheap linoleum so all of the edges are pealing off. The sliding doors in the kitchen and bathroom are cheap aluminum, not wood. Furthermore, there is never any parking and the dumpster is always overflowing with trash. The office staff is polite, but they manage crap apartments and lease them at top dollar. They consider a black muddy mosquito filled pond a "view," and up-charge you to live next to it. $500-700 worth it, but $800-$1000...not worth it!!! I can't wait to move out!

Started looking for somewhere else immediately
Way too much neighbor noise. I know what time they get up, flush toilet, run garbage disposal, run dishwasher and watch alot of loud movies. All this from the comfort of my hot apartment. Hot because the AC has not worked right since the day I moved in.

Would very much recommend...
I've just recently moved into this apartment complex and have had no regrets. The staff were very nice and inviting from the first time I spoke with them. The noise is quite minimal and regardless of what anyone says, my apartment is on the side near the interstate and you cant hear the traffic at all. So far the residents I've met have been quite nice and welcoming. As for the hotels and restraunts near, I don't mind being able to walk to a nice restraunt to eat dinner if I want. All & all I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone I know.

nice enough staff, internet website misleading
my husband and I were recently transferred into the area; looking for a place to rent while looking for a house. I spoke with a member of the apartment staff regarding website information and apartment information. I put a deposit to hold the apartment at a special rate. I drove down to the apartments to look at them (over a 3hr trip one way, one day) to make sure I would be happy here. I was immediately disappointed upon driving into the community. The apartments are surrounded by a lot of hotels and resturants. The apartments themselves are very small and very close together. It did not reflect the golfing community the website portrayed. The model apartment we looked at needed repairs. THe front door was dragging, the microwave provided is tiny, and a drawer in the master bath had actually fallen on the floor. There is a garden tub in the guest bath, but not in the master. THe stairs and sidewalks are rusted and rust stained. Needless to say, we opted for different living arrangements. Again, the staff very nice (except one lady who seemed to not have time for anything...). We also did not receive deposit back even though our move in date was over a month away. Look before you rent here! Don't trust the website information or the staff!

Great place
I visited the Links at Georgetown Community on 6/14/06 and what I saw was nice. The office staff helped me out and Carlytha gave me a wonderful tour of the community. I would have leased but I am not looking to move until January of next year. The little blond girl greeted me and was nice as well. I think this would be a nice place to live. So visit and call before you believe all these postings. I am glad I did.

The Money Pit
To start off the price of the apartment is no where near what you get. You are being over charged to live next to a golf course. Which probably only about 5% of the apartments actually look over the golf course. The office personal (Walmart Barbies) are very rude and not helpful in any way. You will enjoy walking around the complex while trying to dodge the numerous piles of dog poop. (Which is never cleaned) If have pets you can look forward to paying heavy fees just to get them on the grounds. You will not have to pay a security deposit because it will be much easier to bill you for imaginary problems when you move out. The buildings are a hideous shade of yellow. This is supposed to be a gated community but its kind of hard to say that when the gates are always broke and there isn't a gate around the entire community. They even charge you a fee to give you your water bill. I'd have to say I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are so many hotels being built that they are practically 10 feet away from some apartments. Overall if you want to live somewhere nice this isn't the place!

The Links Suck
If you are looking for an apartment don't look to the Links! What they advertise and what you get are two totally different things. Rent is outrageous, you pay too much for what you get. The outside may look nice but inside you'll find a poorly constructed apartment made out of cheap materials. You will be able to hear anything your neighbors do and everyone who is outside. One time I heard my neighbors above us sneeze! Or you will have people walk by and it sounds like they are walking through your living room. The staff at the Links are not helpful at all. It had gotten to the point where we would avoid them at all costs- dropping off rent after they closed so we wouldn't have to deal with them. You will also have to fight with traffic on the way into town and back. They do offer lovely views.. that is if you enjoy looking directly into your neighbors living room and they into yours. Over all I would never recommend this place to anyone and I was never more happy as when we pulled out of there for the last time.

What can I say about the Links at Georgetown? Absolutely nothing. It is too much to fill this page but let me keep it brief. Let's start by saying expensive!!!! They are almost seven miles away from Georgetown. <br><br>First, Is it a swindle? Where they bill you for your water with an administrative charge, at the end. What administration fee? Why should I pay a greedy fee to see how much I owe the water company? <br><br>Second, the front office has absolutely the MOST HORRIBLE customer service to date!!!! They treat the residents differently; some get preferential treatment and a lot don't get any at all. I know you see where I'm going with these observations. Got to the point where just going to the front office staff made me feel, not a hundred percent. They are so bogus to the point where my stomach is queasy every time. <br><br>Last but not least, the features are misleading. They advertise the following, Controlled Access Gates and Lighted Tennis Courts -- But my car was broken into, and almost stolen. The damages ended with a total loss on my vehicle. Yes, a total loss according to the insurance company. They could care less about my needs or concerns. I called the front office, and I got, I quote, “Oh we will put out a memo to the residentsâ€, Click. No, I’m sorry---how can we help you in anyway. Life is short, don't hate where you live. And you will if you choose this household waste site for your family.<br><br>

Only thing good I can say about this apt complex is .. I DONT LIVE THERE!!<br><br>Ok, now for the bad, ( i toured the place)<br><br>- I swear they lie about their square footage<br><br>- Want to know how big the kitchen is? Snap your fingers. There ya go, thats pretty accurate.<br><br>- Links at Georgetown... Links = Golf, no golf course that I saw, Not even in Georgetown.<br><br>- Located behind like 6 hotels off I-95, so you have the hustle and bustle of travelers. Not very homely. <br><br>- Mustard orange siding.<br><br>- rusted stairs, and molded concret. <br><br>- Club house looked really nice. Thats where all the money went.<br><br>- Where do you put your TV?? Not to mention the "show" furniture was even crappy. I cant believe what they try to charge for this place. Its a joke. <br><br>I highly recommend seeing, Preston Grove, Georgetown Woods, or Waterford Plantation before you make a decision.

VERY CHEAPLY CONSTRUCTED
If there was a way to cut costs when they built it - they found it. I always see a bunch of appliances by the bulk trash and the a/c units are ok for a 1 bedroom apt, but not for a two bedroom and forget cooling the loft, it's not going to happen.<br><br>The second gate is broken (again). Look at Walden Pond instead - you'll be happier.

What can I say about the Links. Too much to fill this page but let's keep it short. Let's start by saying overpriced! And they are NOT in Georgetown but 5 miles out. The scam where they bill you for your water WITH an admininstrative charge kills me. Why should I pay a greedy fee to see how much I owe the water company? Just another ploy to get your money.<br>And the front office is absolutely the WORST! They could care less about your needs or concerns. They treat the residents differently. Some get preferential treatment some don't. I think you see where I'm going with this. Got to the point where just looking at the front office staff made me ill - they are SO phony. It's OK
Hi,<br><br>I'm a current resident at the Links and everytime I see one of the glowing ratings, I have to think it was written by one of the office staff - who get apartments in the complex.<br><br>Honestly, the place is OK - but I've not moved out yet and I hear they can really hit you with charges on the way out the door.<br><br>On the plus side, it's pretty. The landscaping is nicely done. The club house is lovely - but you really can't use it, since it's only open when the rental office staff is there (office hours.) The gym is open 24 hours - but it took almost a year before the office staff would give me the code to get in to use it.<br> <br>Someone recently purchased the ajoining land and cut down all the trees that blocked the complex from the highway I-95. So it's a bit nosier at night with the traffic on the road. <br><br>While everyone can have a bad neighbor, it there is a real problem, a call to the answering service will have the office staff member on call coming in to try to solve it.<br><br>Now for the bad: <br><br>Was the architect on crack when he designed this place??? <br><br>The kitchens are almost useless for a serious cook due to tiny counter space and few cabinets. While you have a full length pantry, the shelf space is poorly configured so the space is mostly wasted.<br><br>The living room is all windows and to quote my mover - "Where do I put the tv?" If you are in a downstairs apartment, you can put the tv where the fireplace is upstairs, but on the 2nd floor you either need a flat screen over the fireplace mantel or you'll have to block a window.<br><br>There is a funky 8 foot tall window OVER the 6 foot tall window on the wall with the peaked roofline in the greatroom. Since there is no window shade or blind over this window, it gets REAL hot, real fast. (But Southern Electric thanks you for your a/c business.)<br><br>The bedrooms are small but ok. I like the mirrored doors on the closets.<br><br>Garbage is a BEAR. They have two large compactors and you have to take your garbage to one of the two sites (most people drive it over, since it can be a significant distance from the apartment.) The company who services them is not reliable, so don't be surprised if you can't put out the trash, since the compactors are closed/out of service. One was down for over a month awhile back. The other is routinely (at least once a week) overflowing. This is a serious health issue and if you mention it to the "Barbie Dolls" in the rental office you get a smile and a platitude with your "Have a nice day now." They need to change contractors NOW.<br><br>Lastly, it's not very well constructed and I'm worried about Hurricane season in my apartment. I'm taking lots of pictures for insurance purposes (just in case.) The complex has not stood up to a Hurricane yet and was built in 1999 just before the building code was revised (in 2000) for stronger hurricane resistant building practices. Only time will tell on this one.<br><br>For all of that I've lived in worse places. Overall I'd give the complex a 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Good luck with your move.

Very Nice & Safe Place
I moved into the Links on 15 JUNE 03 and have enjoyed my residence immensely. I just recently requested the rental office to extend my current lease for as long as possible, which will be an additional two (2) Years.<br><br>I have experienced minimal problems, all of which have been expeditiously resolved. The rental office has been extremely helpful in collecting mail, organizing cleaning for my unit, as well as accepting packages from couriers. I manage Asia & the Pacific for a USA Medical Company and travel quite frequently, therefore management's helping with mail collection and other items, during my travel is quite appreciated.<br><br>My unit is located adjacent to the 8th tee on Henderson Golf Course, which I joined immediately upon moving in the Links. The golf course and woods certainly add to the beauty of The Links At Georgetown and I am quite quite happy with my complete living experience here for the past 19 months!! <br><br>Bill Cannady

Safe, Happy , Pampered and Secure
I have lived at the Links since 1999. I could live anywhere and I can afford to buy a property. I live here because everything I want and need is made available to me. This is a beautiful community. We have nature about us....a beautiful golf course...easy access to the city and the highway and sweet quiet in the evenings. Good shopping is in easy access. It is always a pleasure to come home...throw off the shoes...say hello to the neighbors...take a swim or use the gym...or just take a walk....knowing that you are safe and so are your children. There are also some neat fishing holes! The management and staff are the absolute best! They accomodate every need. Be it a light bulb...help with groceries or luggage...looking out for you if you are ill....watching out for your apartment while away....living at the Links means being safe, happy, pampered and secure.

Biggest Scam in the South
I lived at the links for about a year and kept my apartment in great condition, paid all my bills in full on time. Then after moving out of state was sent a bill for the carpet- which wasleft in great condition! The Links claimed there was all sorts of damage from my dog even though i had taken pictures before moving out to prove my point! Their expert witness was the same Carpet Company to whom they gave business and when confronting the manager I was hung up on with a sarcastic have a nice day. This place is a mirage, the reason it looks so pretty and new is because each and every person who has lived there has paid for imaginary repairs. This building was designed to look high-end but really cheaply constructed, expect to hear your neighbors, and expect management to do nothing about it. If you are even considering this place do yourself a favor and KEEP LOOKING!!! Absoloutely the biggest scam in the south!
