Hell on Earth
My fiance and I moved in, and the VERY DAY we moved in we had a problem with our air. (We moved in July, so it was really hot.) We dealt with this problem for about three weeks before they FINALLY fixed it. They never answered our calls, and took forever to call us back, when they bothered to call at all. Around September my fiance's car got broken into, and we told Leigh, the manager, and she said they had securtity cameras and would check them. Turns out, they're just for looks! They don't even really work! Around May our air started leaking everywhere in the hall closet, and molded the carpet. We called several times a week for three weeks until we threatened to call her boss and tell her. Leigh sent someone over that morning. Apparently the only way to get anything done is threaten her job. Lol. Now we moved out in June and are still waiting and fighting with them over our deposit. We had it looking better than when we moved in, and they even signed off on it, and Leigh has told us several times it would be mailed, and surprise! NO CHECK! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! The office people suck and never answer your calls, its loud and people party all the time, there is no parking, and the apartments are old and outdated! We are SO glad to be out of that place!

Liars......Do not go here !
No heat; no air conditioning; raw sewage in floor; they do not clean carpets with raw sewage in them; mold growing on my couch when I was away for two weeks . You never can get a person when you call because they screen their calls. They do not respond to any maintenence requests. They have a reputation among local plumbers and carpet cleaners for NOT paying their bills.

no heat, Toilet water in shower, liars
Worst ever apartment I lived. Moved out after 6 months. The place is dump, like a Jungle cabin with no maintainance and management(animals) who lies. In last 6 months there was once a fire, once the waste water pipes broke. The landlord Mary is biggest liar. The laundry is broke, the swimming pool and recreation room are never open. There is not even onsite person for emergency maintainance. Nobody answers your phone call and if you go in person they will lie and the problems are never fixed. The heater was broken and I had to live with room heater in freezing cold througout winter. I would never live suggest this even if it is free.

Life in Hell would be better
This is the worst place I have ever lived. I lived in the same apartment for 3 years, and when I moved to Kirklevington my life became a nightmare. There was constant mold growth, the air conditioner never worked in the summer, and there were 4 late night fires. Often times the hot water didn't work or the water was turned off all together. Section 8 housing is better than this place. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. They need to tear the whole thing down and sell out......terrible manager and management company. Oh and if you even need to be out of your lease 2 days early because you are going to be out of town the day it is up and you can't do a walk through....forget it...you're not getting out 2 days early. You're not even getting out of your lease 3 minutes early. These people are ----'s. DON'T LIVE HERE.

Wonderful!
If you love being warm all the time this place is freakin great!! Excellent location make it hard for LFD to get to any of the buildings on site! This place is serene with fireplaces abound... In ground pool and onsite athletic facility will have you BURNING calories in no time... Hell has nothing on this place.. We have 24/7 onsite cop support so no need to fear arson! This five star apartment complex was built with the HIGHEST of standards adhering to Lexington fire codes and promotes regular inspection of the fire alarms onsite. The only thing I have to complain about in this place is the "break in case of emergency" glass. Inside the case there was a half-eaten twizzler and an ancient can of "Tab". 5/5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For Flames.

Tooo many late nights!
I'm not going to rant about how bad the apartment was. But I've had it with Kirklevington Hills! Every night I fear for my life. You got to bed not knowing if they're gonna burn your building next. I sleep with my shoes and cellphone next to my bed.

Not to mention, I can't get out of my lease. The cost of breaking the lease gets higher (not lower) as you go. I'm not sure if Apartment Ratings will edit this. But the rough average cost of breaking a lease is around $1800 bucks. Management could care less. I really wish someone would call the Better Business Bureu.

All I expected was safey. All I got was fear. God bless the people that got out and those who had to deal with the flames.

Fire Hazard
I understand that living in an apartment is nothing like living in a house. There is noise and other things that need to be taken into account. However, that doesn't mean you should live without hot water for days at a time (in the dead of winter). Nor should you have to live with the constant fear of fire.

I live there now but hope to leave ASAP. I'd like to say the landlord has nothing to do with the shoddy help present here but.. she's about as clueless as the rest of them. The apartments are cheap and utilities are included but that doesn't mean a guarantee that you'll have heat, or water at the same time. In 1 months' time.. I had no hot water 3 days out of every week. And this is NO exaggeration. My only hope is that not all apartments are like this.

You're gonna see the prices and think.. surely I won't be as miserable as everyone says.. it's a bargain. But trust me.. you will and i hope that you're apartment isn't the next to catch fire. Renter's insurance here is a must (if you can even get it!).

You've got to be kidding
The review on 8/5/04 must have been written by a relative of the Landlord Mary. She is nothing but nasty and NON helpful. What a joke! My daughter lives there and I have personally tried to deal with this woman. I lave left several unreturned messages

Steer clear!
My review was also deleted, even though it followed the guidelines to a "T"...
Steer clear of this place if you want to have a stress free home environment! I am not even sure where to start on this...

* The A/C never works in the summer (I only had A/C for 2 weeks from May-Sept) and the office staff fed the residents differing stories as to what was wrong with it.

* After the A/C was finally turned off, I didn't have heat for another 2-3 weeks when it was getting pretty cold @ night!

* My tub would constantly be filled with my neighbors tub water after their showers. My toilet would constantly run after flushing. My hot water is non-existant...I have to let it run for literally 30 minutes to get luke warm water. The water is also super cloudy and sometimes yellow.

* I stopped making maintence requests because the maint. staff and office staff (including management) stopped calling back, coming to fufill the requests and started making rude comments about my phone calls.

* I called the property owner only to be referred back to the property/area manager and then only to be talked to like a dog for calling her boss, she wouldn't even give me her supervisors name to talk to him because "whatever I needed to tell him, I had to tell her". She went as far as calling me stupid and talking to me as if I were a child.

* I had mold growing from my A/C unit. I'm allergic to mold aside from simply having seasonal allergies, etc. I called repeatedly for it leaking and the mold spreading. They didn't clean it-they spray painted over it. Yes, you can Kilts it once it's cleaned but otherwise, it will not work. The staff complained about having to come to my home multiple times for this problem...but it kept coming back. I was then told my the property manager that the mold wasn't making me sick (which it was at that point) because "She's allergic to smoke and she smokes" and there's no difference.

* The bugs are incredible...so much fun to deal with. Ranging from lil black bugs appearing in the apartment to finding spiders everywhere!

* I pay my rent, which includes all utilities. I have paid it in full, on time every time. However...each time the utilities didn't work (no hot water, power outages/power flashing, no heating or air)-I was no reimbursed for any of this because "that wasn't how things worked" at Kirklevington Hills.

Anytime I have had to deal with the office staff, I've been talked down to as if I'm some child or as if I'm below average intelligence. I have never lived at a place where I've been treated so poorly. What's worse is now that I'm moving, my deposit will be kept because according to other residents that have moved out--they got nothing back and had been told they would recieve *such and such amount* back...however, they've seen nothing.

To sum it all up, save your money and go somewhere else. Trust me, you'll thank me later! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. They are rude and unprofessional! The apartments are DEFINATELY not worth the small fortune you pay to rent them out. The advertisments LIE! They aren't spacious, they aren't clean...and the staff is FAR from professional!

STEER CLEAR!

Nice try- AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I had written a very nasty, well-founded review on here that was deleted, but I am going to reiterate my comments because people need to know. So, here are the A,B,C's of Kirklevington Hills.
A- Ants, Aggravated Asthma (due to mold)
B- Black water, Bugs!
C- Cut your losses on your deposit- they'll take it all.
D- Deceitful advertising and staff
E- Eak! Electronics are ruined- damned humidity!
F- Freeze all winter!
G- Go elsewhere!
H- Holes, Heat and Humidity
I- Insulation???? Yeah right!
J- JUST STAY AWAY!
K- Kick the wall, the whole place will fall down!
L- Loud, Loud, LOUD.
M- Mold EVERYWHERE
N- No maintenance service until you threaten to have them investigated.
O- Oh, the misery of getting conned into such a long lease
P- Plumbing??? Yeah right?
Q- Questionable morality of the entire company
R- Rude
S- Sweltering heat ALL SUMMER. Sewage, Sewage, Sewage!
T- Third world countries have better apartments
U- Unresponsive staff
V- Very thin walls
W- Witchy staff members
X- X-treamly awful
Y- Y didn't maintenance ever respond?
Z- Zoo animal's accommodations are better maintained!

IN SUMMARY, WORST PLACE EVER. IF MISERY LOVES COMPANY, THEN IT SHOULD GO TO KIRKLEVINGTON HILLS, IT WILL FIND PLENTY OF COMPANY.
Life in soviet union better
I used to live in Soviet Union. I come here in 1991 after fall. Let me say; apartment in soviet union MUCH better than this! In Soviet Union, apartment made solid out of concrete, so no noise! No mold either. Here, walls thin thin like card or something. All you do is hear BOOM BOOM BOMM from idiot ------- kids all night every night. Also, very much mold and stinkyness from neigboor. Also, Dog ---- and trash everywhere!

What is wrong with everyone
I have lived here for over a year and yes, I have had some problems but I have also owned my own home. I know how much it can cost to fix things and how much utilities can cost. Trust me when I say YES you want to live here. If you want a nice quiet place, nice residents and YES nice office and maintenance staff plus resonable prices with all bills paid then this is the place for you.

Like A/C? THEN DON'T MOVE HERE!!!!!!!
If you're even considering moving here, DON'T! Please take these reviews seriously because all of these (except for the good ones from 2 years ago) I have read are telling you the honest truth. I've not been here long and already want out- but it would cost a fortune to get out of the lease (that's how they trap you in this junk hole).

My a/c has NEVER worked. When I told the office manager (M***) about the problem that it was always over 80 degrees in my apartment she told me "at least it's cooler than what it is outside." What a joke! I told her that a/c was supposed to be included and I wanted it and she told me that "you have air, it may not be coming out as cool as you would like but you do have air." We put a thermometer up to the vent and it was coming out at 77 degrees and w/ what little bit of pressure it has by the time it gets a foot out of the vent it's at least 80 degrees! And that's w/ 4 fans running.

I thought the management would at least be somewhat considerate that I wouldn't die of a heat stroke in an apartment I'm paying way to much for that is supposed to have utilities included but I guess not. M*** could care less. The girls that work in the office I actually feel sorry for because they get bombarded every day w/ people complaining but there's not much they can do but tell the manager and she's not going to do a thing about it.

I could go on for days, but I hope you're getting the jist- stay away, stay far far far away! Pay more to have individual heating and air- no boiler systems! Don't waste your time even coming and looking at this place because they will make it look like heaven but it feels more like something else!

dont be fooled
as the spring flowers blossom, so does the mold in your vents.
Spiders are abundant.
Ask to see the laundry room when touring.
If you dont live on the top floor, you will suffer, daily the ceilings are paper thin.
An apartment "special" is simply the difference in what you would pay anyway and the amount you'll be penalized if you have to break the lease. good luck.

Great
I lived at Kirklevington Hills for a year and it was the best apartment complex that I have lived in to date. Mary, who is on the office staff, was very informative and helpful during my residency there. The free utilities are nice and the location is good, especially for UK students. When I lived there I got a $50 per month discount for being a teacher. I have never heard of a better living discount for teachers. The only complaint that I have was the bird poop on my car 24/7 because there are tons of big trees on the property.

NO GOOD!!! TRY AGAIN!!!
I think this place is horrible. I have been living here for 7 months and it is HORRIBLE!! It is very dusty and spiders are everywhere. Also, my tub doesn´t release the water out automatically. I have to do it manually. THAT SUCKS!! Lastly, the buildings are OLD and they tend to have a pet smell to them!! IT´S HORRIBLE over there. I don´t wish that type of living on anyone!!!!

Great Place to Live
I have been living in this complex for the last two years and recently renewed my lease for another year. The apartment complex is located in a nice neighborhood with easy access to the major arteries as well shopping and UK/downtown. Apart from some minor maintenance issues which were promptly addressed, I have never had any problem so far. Ample parking space is available, and the noise level is minimal. The rent is reasonable (rents for 2 BR apartments are significantly higher though) and the staff is always courteous.

Enjoyed our time there
My husband and I lived there for 4 years. We both were very happy there and the apartments did not carry noise much so they were pretty quiet. We did move at one point from a first floor to a second floor apartment because the floor boards above us were loud. I would definitely recommend them.
