I moved to my lovely eco-pad in Blairs East in October 2014. I work in conservation, so I was drawn to their low energy efforts, composting program, and proximity to public transit. It doesn't hurt that the apartment and community is beautiful

I chose the Blairs apartments because I liked the floorplan they had available at the time I was looking--I have a fireplace and a washer/dryer in my unit. I really love the unit I'm in--I never hear my neighbors(I hope they don't hear me ;-)) and the proximity to all things important to me is great. The downside--I've had a very negative experience with the office staff, the maintenance staff, and the concierge since I moved in. I've seen all new faces at the concierge, so it looks like in the past month or so they have switched everyone out, but unfortunately, from the encounters I've had with them, they weren't provided adequate training. For example, one evening, two undercover officers came in and asked a security guard (dressed in uniform) where all the exits to the building are, and he responded that he was new and he did not know, and he did not even try to find out. I have a touch time getting quality responses to my maintenance requests; sometimes it takes over a week for them to come out, and when they do, they rarely fix the issue in one visit. I almost always have to follow up and ask them to come back to fix the original issue. I love the layout and proximity, and for that I'd recommend the place, but the customer service leaves much to be desired.

After one week of residence, my experience has been positive. Good neighborhood, clean building, friendly staff, on site parking. Move-in went very smooth. Appliances all worked. Building is very close to local retail and mass transit. Thus far, I am very happy.

We researched nearly every apartment building/complex in Silver Springs before making our decision to come to The Blairs. We moved from out of state and I can say without a doubt that Jamie in the Leasing Office was treasure. He helped me handle all the details of the move and was very responsive to my questions and concerns. Once we arrived the concierge team was helpful in getting us an elevator lock and loading dock space to make the move in process easier. We have a studio apartment and it is so nice. The walk in closet is large and can be shared easily by two people. There is also an extra storage closet so you don't have to get a storage unit ($$ savings). The kitchen has lots of cabinets and is easy to work in, for those who like to cook and bake. For those who have lived in apartments where they painted the windows shut, this apartment building has windows that actually open and you can get fresh air whenever you want! The apartment does not have a washer and dryer; the laundry room is located down the hall (every floor has one). The machines are clean and modern. The building is convenient to shopping and most importantly, to the metro. Just minutes from the door. We have found The Blairs to be, not only a nice place to live, but the best value around.

The Blairs are a wonderful place to live. We have lived here for 4 years and will be staying much longer. The location can't be beat and the staff take very good care of us. The apartment is clean, updated and well maintained. We have had no problems.

This place really feels like home. So much value for your money - beyond nice, clean apartments and friendly staff, there are awesome activities (free yoga!) and events. Fantastic location - easy walk to metro, bus stops, Giant, and Rock Creek Park.

Pros: clean (feels brand new!), new appliances-love the shower head and kohler sink, walk-in closet, student discount, accent wall, nice staff (always offer to help), no bugs-this is a place that does not have roaches or bed bugs (this was a must for me! it's hard to find an apartment that is this clean and within my price range). Cons: high cost-parking and utilities, no W/D in room, staff not detail oriented (I had to make corrections on the lease and ask about important details. Staff seem nice but just not detail oriented. can get frustrating for those who like things outlined for them) and difficult to get a hold of (I had to call 3-4 times even though I left a message each time), no central light- had to buy lights for the main room.

Moved in to the community in the winter months and was already disturbed with the lack of comfort in my building. Very noisy apartments, lack of washers and dryers in each apartment, lack of even usable laundry facilities. The entire building smells terrible. The entrance on the back is disgusting - each time you enter, you are met with a foul odor that doesn't go away. What kind of apartment building has a carpeted lobby? The Blairs has a superb location and a great Lifestyles program with fitness classes and community events. My husband and I really enjoy grilling out on the patio and love the layout of our studio. However they made it incredibly difficult and stressful to move-in and sign the lease by reneging/challenging the special offers that they originally offered after we had already based our budget on the price they told us during the first and second apartment visit. In addition, in our first two weeks of living there, we got locked in our apartment because the door handle was broken, the garbage disposal needed to be fixed due to a leak, and my friend's car was broken into in the parking lot. Overall, it's enjoyable to live here, the people in the residences and concierge are very nice, and I typically feel very safe walking around (which is why the car break-in was so surprising). Just some unnecessary speed bumps getting started at the Blairs.

I enjoy the size and layout of my apartment. The noise level is quiet and doesn't seem like I live in a city area. The maintenance team is fast to respond and very professional. Management is slow at responses but listen to what you have to say. It was miserable in May when they had the heat still on. I was lied to about a pool being open during summer 2015 and this was very disappointing to me.

Apartment itself is really nice. The Eco is nice and new, although beware that air conditioning is not powerful enough to keep apartment super cool. Staff is very friendly but uninformed about many basic things. Nobody could tell me where to park my moving truck. Basic information about the building has yet to be communicated to me.

It's a really great community. It is beautifully maintained and shared among the tenants. The office staff make a genuine effort to provide services and amenities that make the tenants feel at home. They are very quick to inform of us of any changes or issues around the building or community.

I have lived here for almost 6 months, and my experience has been mostly positive, especially because of the very good location of the complex. On the downside, the W&D units are in pretty bad condition, and they are used by some residents to wash their pets' belongings, which clogs the units with dog hair (and is pretty disgusting and inconsiderate). Elevators and hallways also routinely have bad smells (of pets and cigarettes). The concierge service is mostly cosmetic, since anyone is let into the buildings without checking if they are residents or who they are visiting. All of these things could be corrected easily by a stronger management that enforces rules and is on top of the buildings' maintenance. Old residents tell me that this used to be a very well-kept community, and that it seems to be going down hill. I hope this isn't true.

Diverse apartment community with several family friendly activities. Excellent access to grocery shopping, the Metro, and downtown Silver Spring. Other residents are friendly and most seem considerate of the community. Good exercise classes are offered regularly.

People are nice and friendly, the environment here is quite good, but the laundry facilities always stop working. Staff who works here are very responsible, and they're taking care of the service request very quickly, say almost within 24 hrs.

Very positive experience with this community. Apart from seemingly frequent elevator problems, the community has a lot to offer including being pet friendly, monthly activities for adults and children, and quick maintenance response. The apartments are also close to Giant and cvs and other stores with the metro stop only a few blocks away. Very convenient.

Fantastic Leasing Office Staff! Very comfortable apartment with fabulous kitchen! Very impressed so far. If I could change anything, it would be the parking availability. Convenient location. Concierge are very friendly and helpful.

This has been one of the worse experiences of my life. The quality of the community for current residents has decreased every year I have lived here. Since I have moved in a number of the amenities have decreased such as: the pool was closed; parking is now a separate charge; limited to one vehicle per apartment; and utilities use to be included. They take better care of new residents while giving the shaft to new residents. BEWARE! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Can't beat the location - a block from the Metro and easy walk to anything you could want. Min Shin in the business office provides stellar service. Concierge staff is professional, helpful, and friendly. We've had a good experience living here.

The Blairs has great access to downtown Silver Spring, the Metro, grocery store, drug store, etc. A pool would be nice for the amenity fee paid, but other than that I'd say it's a great place. The gym is pretty nice and the laundry rooms are clean.

A great experience. I like being near shopping and public transportation. I also like the apartment and the equipment. I don't need more than that actually. I also like the people whom i dealt with during my stay and my move from the sublet apt to the current one. Thanks.

The staff is courteous and the common areas are kept up fairly well. The back patio is great. Gym could use expansion and renovations. I believe there was once a pool but there has not been one since I moved in. Would be a great touch. My unit is not renovated so I will likely move soon but other than that I've been very happy with the Blairs. Other than the frequent fire alarms! Understand that is not management's fault.
