As a man that is always on the go, it is nice to come home at night to such a great place to live. I moved here from Ohio and was not used to the fast-paced, uptown scene. I feel like this community does a great job when it comes to resident events and functions. When I moved here I didn't know a single person, now 5 months later I always have someone to hang out with and there are many cool spots to go for a beer. I tell everyone about this place and hope that this helps anyone looking for a place to live in Charlotte. If you are new to the area & looking to meet people, this is certainly the place for you.

As a realtor myself and fitness coach, I am pretty critical of places and their gyms. The staff is superb. They are always there for you. The maintenance crew I swear works while I sleep, and they are SO friendly. Everything here is awesome. I love the VALET trash pick up, and the gym. People in the building are a mix, but really friendly and not the party college crowd. The gym is AWESOME. Always clean, and has the basic equipment and beyond. On the days the boxing bag falls, within mins the staff has it fixed. LOVE THAT. They offer bootcamps and personal training also. Parking is safe. I wish there were more visitor spots in the garage, but other than that I have NO complaints. I highly recommend this building and the area is close to everything! Thanks! Danielle

I lived in Elizabeth Square Apts for a year and had the worst experience there than I have had anywhere. I lived in Apt 412, overlooking the pool. This is everything that's wrong with this building and company: 1. TENANTS DO NOT FOLLOW RULES: First night people were having sex in the pool, ES did nothing. There are drunk people who break glass in the pool and party throughout the night. People who don't live there hop the fence to party there all night, ES does nothing. However, they do have a "courtesy cop" that gets free rent in exchange for enforcing select rules (smoking outside after 10pm is considered loitering on your own apartment property and YES the cops will come for that) A girl PEED outside my door while her friend drug her down the hall. I reported that and the pee photo and the carpets were cleaned two weeks later. Yes, two weeks later. 2. POOR NOISE INSULATION: Within first month, 2 large breed dogs moved in above. What they don't tell you is the 5th floor is fake hardwood floors, not carpet, so if you live on the 4th you hear everything. I could hear the man above peeing in the toilet, so the dogs wrestling throughout the night was so loud. ES did nothing after two phone calls. I woke up every morning I had off to my neighbor's alarm clock vibration. The new tenant above me did lunges and KETTLEBALLS every morning at 5:30AM, ES did nothing. 3. COMPROMISED SAFETY I've had my cars towed and booted MANY times. Rental car was towed even though I had a note saying I drove back arriving at 3am Sunday night and would register the car with the office when they were open (there is NO 24-hr service at this place). By 6am it was towed. All the visitor spots are taken up by tenants who don't want to pay $10 for extra parking. My friend s car was towed after coming in for less than 30 minutes. This was 2am on a Saturday. We had to taxi it to North Charlotte, it cost $40. The tow truck driver who instructed us to go to MATHIS TOWING took 1.5 HOURS to show up so we stayed on a dark dirt road for 1.5 hours. Across the street was a mobile home park. When the tow truck drive arrived he had a prostitute in a fur jacket sit up from having had her head in his lap. It was seriously like out of a movie. The tow truck comes every night between 1-4 am. I've seen a woman accompany the driver 3 times. There's a flimsy deadbolt on your door and NOTHING else between you sleeping and tow truck man and prostitute who drive through the garage. Many cars are broken into at night and everyone told me it was the tow truck service. My car has been TOWED once and BOOTED TWICE with a resident sticker on my window because they can't see it at night with the tented windows. After persistent emails to the regional director it was reimbursed. However, there was an elderly man down there and a young lady another time in the office saying their car had been towed WITH A PERMIT DISPLAYED and ES did nothing. 4. THEY ARE UNDERTRAINED Upon move out, my auto pay continued to auto charge me, after my lease had ended! I was overcharge $1300 out of my bank! They blamed it on me saying I never returned a paper to cancel it (the terminated lease wasn't sufficient I guess). Upon their investigation they found I had never been given the paper. Someone forgot and so I was overcharged $1300. They said it would take weeks to reverse because it had to go through a "different department." I said I would sue them, so the debit was immediately reversed. They were just lazy and didn't want to do that originally. ES makes threats in posted fliers around the building that are not legally substantiated, such as no standing in pool area or other public places after 10PM. The staff engages in drug use. Yes, I've witnessed this in person. 5. THEY ARE DISHONEST Upon move out I left my apartment spotless. Fridge scrubbed, everything wiped down. As I was driving cross country with a cat (I was there for nursing school), when I had my car packed, I took a walk-thru video and left keys behind. I didn't schedule a walk thru because of its spotless condition, because I left at an hour when maintenance was not there, and because my friend who worked at the front desk had seen it and assured me my apartment was more than perfectly left. BAD BAD BAD BAD MISTAKE! I got a bill for $623.97 because they replaced all the fake wood floors and carpeting. The catch? The carpet was 4.5 years old and ALWAYS gets replaced at 5 years. They had a girl who WORKED there move in. Because she signed a year lease the carpets would have to be replaced anyway. They took advantage of my not having had a walk thru to scam me out the money. An attorney told me I would have easily won it in small claims, but I would have had to FLY BACK. This is why ES did this. THE CONCLUSION: Move anywhere but here. The fixtures and amenities are cheap and for people who want to look like they have money. Try Metro 808 if you like the neighborhood (which is a charm!) or pay for real quality and class!

Place is HORRIBLE! I write this to warn you that you may not want to live through your entire lease at this complex. It felt like I was living with the most uptight, disrespectful, and non-welcoming people I have been around. If you do not know any residents prior to moving in, than you will be very unhappy with your stay while at Elizabeth Square Apartments. It must be their staff, which sets the tone for all the residence. Offered: free coffee and cookies in the morning, free use of the theater room, free clubhouse use, free pool and BBQ with fire-pit, free WIFI and cable tv. The truth: coffee and cookies are never available when since the office opens long after I leave for work at 8:00am. so if you don't work, than you can have all the cheap coffee and cookies you want. The theater room is a joke! It is too small in all ways, plus you need to schedule and appointment the day before then get the key and return the key to...well the workers are gone in the evening so forget about using the theater room. The clubhouse closes when the office workers go home, which means it is going to be close when you get home from work and are ready to use it. So, no Clubhouse, but don't worry, it's not too inviting and very uncomfortable. The pool is okay if you like swimming and sunbathing around hundreds of people's balconies. No pool, or BBQ, or fire-pit at night, it's not allowed! (What's the point of a fire-pit during the day? And no BBQ for dinner???) The WIFI and cable are NOT FREE, they charge you for every bit of it, which took them 2 months to come install, then I had to buy my own router. I was very unhappy to find that the local community despises the new Elizabeth Square Apartments, and I was extremely unhappy to find I was being way far too much over charged for the area. Their rates are high, and the additional fees stack up to too much. The parking garage is too tight, with near misses every time I come or go. The elevator reeks of piss. The hallways are miserable and duplicated on every floor and every hall. The mail is outside in the cold or heat, and not safe. No enjoyable roof-top. The people are all unfriendly, which seems strange until you have been here for a few months and understand. I became depressed and isolated in Elizabeth Square Apartments, a first for me. I had to break my lease, HAD TO! I recommend not locking yourself into the Elizabeth Square contract and instead go rent in one of the better quality apartments or areas. Don't do it!

My experience at Elizabeth Square was pretty dreadful, horrendous, unbearable. The depressing story of my experience here will make you laugh, it will make you cry; it will give you good insight into what type of property you are dealing with. I know this is long, but if you are seriously considering moving here, it will be extremely beneficial to read this in its entirety. FIRST DAYS: Initially, I was so excited to move into such a stylish and high-end environment. I had just taken a job and was relocating from New York City and I thought the rent was reasonable for the way this place is presented on their website and the tour provided by property management. The reasonable rent didn t include the later disclosed mandatory $25 valet trash fee and $75 basic cable fee (no digital box that will be an extra $30 with Time Warner if you want to know what channel you are on). My unit that I was not shown prior to moving in was sold as a gorgeous apartment with an Uptown view. The uptown view? An awkward unusable corner window that has no real purpose other than to see a portion of the Duke Energy building through some telephone poles. Realistically, my main view was the freeway paradise that is Independence Blvd, an extremely bustling, noise infested road. You will hear the hum of rubber to asphalt FOREVER! Okay, no big deal. I mean the place has a sweet pool, a fitness center stainless steel appliances any amenity you could possibly want in apartment living including non-functioning fire pits, and gas grills that often times do not light. However, you will have many trade-offs.. Here they are: MANAGEMENT: I can not tell you how many times I have been interrupted during meetings at work, enjoying relaxation on a vacation, or any other inopportune time to address this office s complaints. One example of such is this following email: Your neighbor below has brought to my attention that he hears loud walking/running at all hours and that it sounds like doors/cabinets are being slammed. He also states that he hears a constant banging. He said that this Saturday was extremely louder than most days. This may or may not be coming from your apartment. However, I wanted you to be conscientious that this is audible to your neighbors. Now, I can assure management, my former downstairs neighbor and the readers of this that I had not been training for an Olympic relay marathon or even slamming my cabinets out of frustration that I ran out of fruit roll-up snacks. A few of my own thoughts: No one was even my apartment that one Saturday, the allegedly loudest day of said constant banging . This was eerily similar to the time this office contacted me while I was on vacation in Savannah for a noise complaint while I was in Georgia. Quite frankly, it was downright harassing, that over and over, the office would call me at work - Habitually over the entire tenure of my rental. This is an apartment community that has several hundred residents and unlike most of them, I expected a certain living noise. These walls and ceilings are incredibly thin. Be very quiet when cooking a pot of spaghetti you will receive a noise complaint. Now, did I hear my neighbor above? Yes? Did I think they are training walruses for a musical chairs circus act? Absolutely. Did my neighbor to the side of me abuse his right to play the bass guitar at all hours against all things that are good to the name Bon Jovi? Certainly. Did I ever say anything about the constant aroma of marijuana I had to enduringly trudge through every day after work to get to my apartment? No. I did not complain because I expected that environment in an apartment complex. It was beyond stressful for me to have to listen to trivial notices and calls about noise, pool rules, etc. every other week. If a neighbor claims that there slamming doors when I wasn t home, why weren t the police called. I would have loved to known if there were invisible ninjas dancing off the walls around my apartment. DOG ATTACKS: Beware! Wild packs of unleashed German Shepherds running around common areas. My girlfriend and Boston Terrier were attacked by an unleashed dog in a common area. Property Management said that dog wasn t even registered to the apartment that it ran out from. I assumed we would never see this dog again. Wrong. Three weeks later, the same ferocious dog darted for my girlfriend and Boston Terrier. Fortunately this time, neither of them ended up bloodied and bruised. THEN: when you move out, they charge you HUNDREDS of dollars for pet stains horrible. SECURE GARAGE?! HA! The garage requires a FOB entry residents are given a decal parking permit. Secure enough, right? There have been rashes of car break-in in the garage at several times during my stay here. They also contract with a towing company and they police the garage for people parking without permits. I guess that s a good thing until one morning my car is magically missing. Confused and now late for work, I find out my car was towed 12 miles away. How could my car disappear from the garage where I live? I get that answer when I finally catch a ride to get my car and find out that the decal was peeled off. Did someone steal my decal or did the towing company peel it off after they towed it? Very suspicious. DORMITORY ATMOSPHERE: Enjoy late night fire alarms being pulled on a regular basis. Enjoy young adults fighting on their way home from the bars on Central Ave. And surely you will enjoy the ridiculous Resident Advisors, errrrr property management emails reinforcing the behaviors of its tenants. Your email address will be disclosed to the other tenant as well Management does not respect your privacy and will not use the BCC function when sending out correspondence. POOL: previous review hit the nail on the head: Cancun. ENTRY WITHOUT NOTICE: One day at work maintenance stopped by my unit to change the air filter. I know this because my girlfriend was not working that day. Since when is it acceptable or considerate to enter an apartment unannounced without notice? Typically, legally responsible property managers provide a declaration prior to entry. They said they were there checking things . I suppose they were looking for the invisible ninjas that had been creating all-that ruckus while I wasn t there. If my girlfriend had not been there, I have to wonder how many other times my apartment been entered without my knowledge to check on things . SUMMARY: I have been renting for 14 years and have never come across such an atrocious living experience. Do not let the visual appeal of this place fool you. I can assure you that any positive reviews on here are self-posted by the property staff to ensure a higher star rating quota. Just look at the times they are posted and the replies to them, etc.; Look at the wording: a three line review used the word awesome three times and someone replied that had it not been for that review, they would have chosen somewhere else to live. I mean, really? It s truly amazing how the real reviews have less of a pattern and less agreement to the negativity of the review. Elizabeth Square is a tyranny and as a resident, you will surely find out first-hand soon enough. The constant sight of moving trucks outside the complex is a giant red flag about the attrition rate at this place. Anyone I knew that lived here quickly found another place at the end of their lease. The best money you will spend here is shelling out whatever it costs to get out of your lease.

I just moved in over the summer and love it here! I work crazy hours and have never had my sleep interrupted and the people in the office even place packages inside my door when I cannot make it to the office in time!I am new to Charlotte and the location couldn't be better.I can walk to a lot of local bars and cab it to down town for the games for under $10!

AMAZING! I love living here! I moved from Chicago and needed a place fast! I have had problems at other apartment complexes but there has never been a problem for me. It is great to have my friends over and have them compliment me on what a beautiful place I live in! The staff is unbelievable- from the maintenance staff to the office staff, I have never been more impressed! I plan on staying here for a long time!

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with pets, or if you are a light sleeper. If you don't like someone stomping on your head, don't live on the third floor. The upper floors have hardwood floors throughout, but poor insulation. We called the office constantly about this, and all they could do was call our neighbor and tell him to stop. He never did, and they didn't do anything further. You can't have your bikes on the balcony, and there isn't any bike storage on the grounds. If you have a pet, beware. We have two cats and they charged us about $1000 for cat urine everywhere. Our cats never urinated anywhere, and the only evidence they had was a picture of a stain that looked like a coke stain. We had rugs throughout that didn't have any urine stains on them, and we had lived in a one bedroom/one bath for 3 years and didn't have any problems. When we called, they said we had to call management which is somewhere in Texas, and the man who we had to talk to was a complete nightmare. We were going to sue, but didn't have the time to take it to court. If this happens to you, please take the time to take it to court. If not, they will continue to get money out of people they don't deserve. I've already asked our company not to recommend them to any new employees and not to send any clients there to stay. My final note is that this place is too expensive for the noise and problems you have to contend with. You can live in the heart of uptown for the same price.

Fantastic place but I am sadly writing this as I move out of Elizabeth Square due to relocation. I have lived all over the US, including NYC and have never found a group of more responsive individuals that take pride in their jobs. The staff is always friendly and extremely professional. They are great with pets, kids and guests. If you've read any negative reviews it's most likely the individual has gotten noise violations or isn't following the few rules they have. Can't say anything about the maintenance as I've had no problems and they even replaced my furnace filter when I moved in. (It's the little things at this place that has impressed me) And if you're into cooking, the kitchen is fantastic. Anyway, I'm so impressed with Elizabeth Square I'm using my email to post this. If you have any questions about complex just let me know and I'll let you know if I have the answer.

I've lived at Elizabeth Square for a few years and I have had ,for the most part, a good experience. Pros: * Convenient Location (very close to Uptown and other city fun) * Spacious floor plans with nice set-ups * Large wall to wall windows (I had great natural lighting in the daytime) * Staff is helpful and the maintenance guys are fast and kind as well (they always addressed issues quickly) *Parking on every floor- great for grocery shopping Cons: *Thin walls, I heard my neighbor walking all the time (but realistically this was an issue at my last apt as well, I think this is an issue you will always have if you aren't on the top floor) *Visitor Parking is a joke and they def. tow when they feel like it *Pool time gets a little loud (I had an apartment away from the pool so this didn't bother me at all, but I wanted to note it) *Permit Parking (depending on the floor) sucks but I do love that parking is on every floor per my comment above Overall I enjoyed my stay. I moved in when the apartment was first built so I got a great deal. Realistically I wouldn't pay Uptown rates to live here but if you get a good deal it's def. worth it.

What can I say about Elizabeth Square: The nonsense doesn't end and the comfort level is well below par. Don't get me wrong, if you're a 22 year old frat guy, this place is your home following college. From the Cancun regulated pool to people pulling fire alarms in the middle of their drunken night, this place may very well be for you! If you also like being bothered on a constant basis by management, also a plus! The entry-level blondes enjoy calling you on weekends, slipping notes under your door and emailing you habitually - even when it's regarding something that doesn't involve you. You will receive general noise complaints (even when they take place when you aren't home). This is not a place of refuge after work, rather a place of headache and constant policing. While I can appreciate rules being enforced, I prefer them to be done so ethically and professionally.

Safety is an issue. My roommate had her car broken into twice on te street in front of our apartment, along with barely escaping a car jacking. We have also had to call the cops regarding severe violence on the sidewalk outside our place at 3am more than once. However, the even bigger issue is the management team. They will win you over with their sweet ditsy dimeaner, but they are grossly incompetent and will weasel any money they can from you. Constant errors and lost documents leave you with hundreds extra to pay at the end of your lease. Make copies of everything, record phone calls, and save emails to save yourself from their scams. The one positive - the maintenance team. WHEN things start falling apart - which they will since everything was built with bottom end quality made to look "luxurious", they will come and fix it for you in a quick and efficient manner. Maybe they should have hired these guys to build E Square in the first place...

Plan on having visitors? ... don't live here! Guest parking is completely mismanaged
Aside from the constant noise issues, unreasonable increase in rent after the first lease expires and cheap construction guest parking is a nightmare. There are only 2 guest parking spots per floor in the parking garage which is insufficient given the number of tenants at this complex. There is enough space in the parking garage to accommodate both tenants and their guests vahicle; however, management opts to regulate guests to only a limited number of assigned spots and then conducts random towing for those guests not able to find an open guest parking spot. Coincidently, I have been playing the parking roulette game as a frequent visitor over the past 6 months and this morning I lost the parking roulette game. It cost me $120.00 and a missed job interview due to the random towing of their guests vehicles. Bottom line how they manage parking is consistent with their we re better than you b/c we re in charge management style. I would not recommend living here unless you: 1. like noise, 2. don t have friends who drive, and 3. enjoy the challenge of interacting with egocentric staff.

Warning: Elizabeth Square was offering gift cards to residents posting positive reviews
for the most part, I had a positive experience at ES. The girls are typically very nice who work there and the place is well maintained. There are signs posted in the hallways offering residents gift cards if they write a positive post on apartmentratings.com. I think its only fair that readers know this.

great complex
lived here for over 3 years. before that on the other side of town. well maintained building. responsive staff. nice and secure parking. beautiful looking apartments. tasteful interior. small fenced in dog area outside in the back which is handy. the only concern is just like with any other apartment complex are the residents who tend to forget to clean up after their dog or decide not to use trash bins for their garbage. none of that is elizabeth squares fault.

Great Apartment
I've lived at Elizabeth Square for about a year now and I've truly enjoyed living here. The apartments are very spacious and modern, and the amenities are great. I love being able to walk to local restaurants like Loco Lime and Soul. Elizabeth Square is also very pet-friendly. They just built a brand new dog play area, and they keep dog treats in the front office. I would (and have) gladly recommend Elizabeth Square to anyone.

Great Place, Great Amenities and Convenient Location
I've lived at Elizabeth Square for almost one year and I really couldn't be happier with my choice. The location is great for an uptown commute and the food and bars in the area (walking distance) are perfect for weekend fun. The complex organizes weekly happy hours which was great for getting to know people as I moved from out of state. The office staff and maintenance staff are always friendly and accomodating. If you are looking for a nice place to live you need to put this place on your list. The rent is reasonable and they are very pet friendly with a nice little dog park on-site.

Great apartment!
I've only lived here a month now, but I've really enjoyed the complex. The pool and gym are much nicer than other complexes I toured, and the general community is much more welcoming than any other community I've lived in. Also, the leasing office is very responsive when maintenance issues arise, and generally very welcoming. I've never had trouble finding a parking place, and it's great that I am able to park on the floor where I live in the parking deck. My guests have never had trouble finding a spot on a surrounding street either. I feel generally safe in the apartment, and each apartment is wired with an alarm system that residents can set up if they choose to and that makes me feel even more comfortable. There are great restaurants and bars within walking distance or within a short drive or cab ride. It's a little noisier here than where I lived previously, but nothing that is bothersome to me. I can often hear a nearby train, but I think the noise of the train is rather calming actually! I haven't lived here long, but I am looking forward to exploring the Elizabeth area more and continuing to enjoy my apartment at Elizabeth Square!

Nice Place
I sold my condo in Centre City in October and moved into Elizabeth Square. The complex is set up like a hotel so you don't have to leave the building to get your mail, go to the gym or the club room. It is also nice to park on the same level as your apartment. The building is well kept and appears to be well constructed. The location is great, as you can walk to everything in Elizabeth & Plaza Midwood. I work @ Wells and take the Gold Rush shuttle to work. I just walk a few blocks to the hospital and it leaves every 15 minutes. I don't have to pay for parking or deal with traffic. The location is a quick drive to NoDa, SouthPark, Shops on Selwyn and Dilworth. I don't have a dog but it is nice they have a dog park as part of the complex. I like living here so much better than my condo. They take care of everything so I have more free time. I would highly recommend.

Elizabeth Square is a great place to live !
I have lived here for over a year and think this place is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the apartment complex itself is very clean and well kept. The few, very minor issues I have had have been dealt with promptly, and the apartment complex staff holds a lot of events for other tenants to get to know one another. The location is great too. It gets a little noisy down by the pool in the summer, but the complex is good about trying to keep things down at night. Although the occasional group of people coming in for the night (after drinking) has awakened me a few times, I would say overall the noise issue is not too bad (I also have an apartment complex that overlooks the pool) and the staff encourages calling public safety if the noise is a nuisance. I would recommend living here to any potential new residents.
