Love it!
I have lived at Elizabeth Square for almost a year and will be renewing my lease in May. I absolutely love it! Since graduating college, my friends and I have lived in several places around Charlotte in Uptown, Dilworth, South Park, and now here at Elizabeth Square. This is definitely my favorite so far. The location is great and I love it that there are lots of fun places nearby like Jacks, Eds, and Hawthornes Pizza, and that it is only like a $6.00 cab ride if I want to go uptown. As for the apartment complex itself, my experience has been positive and I don't have any complaints. My rent payment is about the same as my friends who live in other apartments around uptown now. And as for parking, if the deck gets crowded on the weekends, I have never had an issue parking on one of the side streets. And I have never been towed here, but I have been towed at 2 other apartments in Charlotte. (It is the one negative about living anywhere near the city.) Also, the pool here is tons of fun and I met lots of new people there last summer. I would definitely recommend living here for anyone who is moving to Charlotte!

Parking issues
Noisy! People upstairs sound like a herd of elephants moving through. Management just towed my car from the parking garage. $125.00 to get back. I was recently rear ended by a hit and run driver causing my parking sticker to fall into the backseat. (Yes I should have stuck it to the back window better )Supposed to be a secure garage, requiring a FOB to enter but management allows towtruck drivers to come in at anytime and tow cars without a sticker. By the way, the doors into the "secure" building are unlocked in the garage area. Hope those tow truck drivers are nice guys. The people in the office could not have cared any less that I was out $125.00. I will not be renewing my lease. Very sad it could be a nice place.

GREAT PLACE TO LIVE!!
Don't believe any of the negative things people have posted. I have been living here just over a year and this is a great place to live!! The location is perfect! You can walk to many restaurants and get uptown w/in minutes via car or cab and NODAH is just around the corner! The neighborhood is a refreshing change of pace to the uptown hustle and bustle. The staff has been very helpful as well as maintaince. I just renewed a 12 month lease and though I took an increase it was still very competitive to many other communities close by. I would highly recomend living at Elizabeth Square!!

HORRIBLE.
This place is like a fraternity house. Every weekend it is like spring break at the pool area. It is very noisy and the staff is right there along with everyone who is partying. It is sad to see such an up and coming area be swarmed with people like this. Very disappointed with my time and money wasted there. They ask entirely too much for the quality of amenities offered here. I had nearly every appliance break at least once and it took days sometimes weeks for them to get everything fixed. Staff is unprofessional and very snooty. I DO NOT RECOMMEND LIVING AT ELIZABETH SQUARE.

very nice apt but Cable and Valet Trash should not be mandatory
We lived there for 7 months. PROS: - our apt was very nice: nice hardwood, tall ceilings, big rooms and closets. - amenities: the pool was nice and had umbrellas. The gym is also nice but could be upgraded with the latest fitness accessories (see CONS) - maintenance staff : friendly and efficient. - location: within walking distance to Harris Teeter, library, bars and restaurants. - parking: spots are always available, and it is nice to have your car parked on the same level as your apt. - netflix available - recycling on site CONS: - valet trash and cable: they make you pay for it even if you do not want it. Valet trash and cable added an extra $100 to our monthly rent. - noise level : it is very close to the highway AND the railroad tracks. - office staff: very nice on the surface but did not give any concessions on anything (cable & valet trash for example, which we did NOT want). It felt that they were very greedy. - Recycling trashcans: constantly overflowing. - the home theater room: The remote was not working properly on the few occasions I used it. - As I mentioned earlier, the gym is nice but could also have: a stairmaster and more fitness items such as a medicine ball, a stability ball, a pilates ring, kettlebells, a bodybar, etc. Also, blinds need to be put up in the gym so that the sun can be blocked off. Overall, we liked living there but the office staff needs to be more flexible.

Great Place to Live!
I have lived in Elizabeth Square for about 15 months and it has been a great experience. We moved here from Uptown and it has totally been worth it. It's true that it is a little expensive, but it is worth it. This is a great area with so many awesome things to do. We are so close to everything, nothing is far away. The management is really helpful. We have not had any problems with maintenance or noise. The only small problems: parking can be a little crowded and the construction next door is annoying. The apartments are nice, the other tenants are really cool, the pool and amenities are great, and the management does a great job.

Great Living!
I really enjoy living here! The leasing agents are super nice and remember your name and your pets' name. Their helpful with concerns and also put on fun community events and parties. It's also nice to have people over and they comment on how nice your apartment is :)

Rip Off
I lived at Elizabeth Square for just less than a year. They actually let me out of our lease because they had messed up so bad. We had many issues with our apartment including power complications, noise and poor building standards. I would not advise living here. The maintenance staff is pretty nice but the leasing office staff is a mess. They really seem to just be trying to make their quotas and could care less about who they let in the building and once you sign the lease they are completely over helping you and will pretty much just ignore you. The building is really loud and on the weekends the hallway and the grounds tend to get trashed, with the trash chute often overflowing. For the money there are much nicer options in Charlotte. I really regret the money I wasted living here, thankfully I was able to get out before a full year...

Live here.
Elizabeth Square has been our home for almost two years now and we've loved every second. Phase II is opening in the spring and looks even better. I recommend.

Love Living Here
I am a Young professional in my late 20's and love it here. The staff is amazing at E Square. They are always friendly and help with any issue I have ever had. They let you know everything up front as well. They do not "nickel and dime" you to death. If you are an educated person you can clearly see what you are going to be charged from the time you sign your lease. The staff has events for the residents almost every month, if not every week! It is a great way to meet neighbors and other young professionals in the Charlotte Area. The gym is top notch and made me quit my membership to PEAK. The pool is a fun hot spot during the summer months.

UPSCALE LIVING FOR LESS!
I've lived in Elizabeth Square since they first opened. This apartment community has a very good reputation for friendliness, style, and being affordable. The complex has a lot to offer and many things to offer. Parking is good. Residents are awesome.

Living at Elizabeth Square
We have lived here since the beginning, once it first opened. We are able to compare the current ES to our original ES. We are surprised at how it remains to still be quiet even with over 90% occupancy. We have been very satisfied here, we recently signed our 3rd lease. The maintenance crew is efficient and timely. The amenities are great! The gatherings are constant and varying. The leasing agents are friendly and attentive. We feel comfortable and safe here. We are very happy with this apartment complex!!

No Concessions
Elizabeth Square. Where to begin? Postives - Security, Amenities. That's about it. Initially I loved living here and then I realized, yes, it IS too good to be true. Depending on where your unit is, noise is a serious issue. I chose this property because the demographic seemed to fit my lifestyle (young professional), however within the past 9 months I feel that they are so desperate reach full capacity that they aren't screening candidates as well as they should. The noise after hours especially in the summer around the pool and grill area is ridiculous and although they leave notes on doors asking for residents to respect their rules, nothing ever changes. The construction is awful and despite it being a serious disruption to anyone that lives on that side (noise from 7am to 7pm, construction vehicles everywhere, accident prone traffic)they continue to charge the same amount in rent and offer NO concessions for the inconvenience. They don't seem a bit concerned that this affects their residents and has been since March. And Money? You better have a lot of it. You want to transfer apartments? That will be $300. You want to add someone to your lease? Another $100 please. You want pets? That will be $350 for each plus $10 a month extra in rent. Do you get any of it back? Nope. Does that cover any damages? Obviously not! We expect you to pay an exorbitant amount for trivial damages that incur in your unit when you move out. Even if you've already paid the transfer fee and the pet fee. Twice. Surprise! If you break something by accident, say like the gate to our parking garage? You get charged $600. If you break the fountain or firepit or grill? That will be another $600. We have cameras people! You want an extra fob? $25 please. Does it matter that you've lived here since we've opened and never been late on rent or complained about anything? Nope. We will take as much money as humanly possible. And now you're unhappy and want to break your lease? You have to pay us. Moral of the story.. for an apartment complex with so much potential, it's sad that they feel the need to nickel and dime everyone, and NEVER give concessions, even to the residents that have been consistently loyal, abide by the rules and never complain. Free cookies just don't cut it.

Lots of Noise!!!
I lived at this complex since it opened in January 2009 until just recently. At first, living there was fantastic because of the relaxing, quiet atmosphere. As tenants moved into the complex however, it became clear that I (mid-20s, young professional, paying my own rent) was not their target market (21-22, rowdy, parents paying rent). Most of the indiviudals that live in this complex seem to have no regard for their neighbors as they feel free to set off fireworks, bang on other tenant's apartment doors, and throw around furnishings outside at 2am. Young and rowdy tenants paired with the fact that there is no insulation to decrease noise from other apartments made for lots of sleepless nights here. Additionally, the noise situation is not being eased at all by the ongoing construction across the street (for Phase II of the same complex). Construction starts at sun-up 6 days a week, so forget sleeping in on Saturday if you face the construction zone. I would say that the one thing Elizabeth Square did correctly was hire a fabulous maintenance team. Each time I filed a work request (yes, there were multiple in a brand new apartment complex), it was taken care of that day with no excuses whatsoever.

Not worth it
I have lived at Elizabeth Square for almost a year now. I looked around in the uptown area for an apartment for a while, but I chose Elizabeth square seeing the price was lesser than most of the other luxury apartments, and I can why as E Square were'nt as nice as the other apartments. The staff at first greeted me with smiles and halo's, but that quickly turned around even before I moved in! They lure you in and dont tell you anything about the ridiculous amounts of fees until you get a fat bill. The apartments units are not bad, but require constant maintanance as the quality of the floorboards, cabinets, fixtures and electric sockets is very poor. Dont be suprised if your cabinet doors fall off, or if half your appliances stop working....there seems to be an electric problem, which countless other residents also experienced. Also, no matter what they tell you, if you are living on the side facing the highway, there is going to be a lot of noise, even during the night. I like the pool and grill areas, they are quite lively and they keep having events around the year. Mostof the people living in these apartments are young professionals, so while there is some hustle and bustle, its not bad at all. The gym is small, but well equipped and nice and its almost never overcrowded. The game/media room pretty much has the same dvd's/games and that hardly gets updated. Maintenance arrives when they want to. They let the problem sit for a good while before addressing it. My only complain with the apartments is the staff. Please beware! They are the biggest liars you will ever meet. They have lied to me on countless occassions and have everytime slapped me with a fat bill. They charge you uneccessary fees and have hiked up the prices for the apartments to an unbelievable point. Please believe me when I say they are not trustworthy at all, you will encounter a lot of hidden fees. They are just after your money. The Phase 2 construction on the left side of the building is noisy and some of my friends living here are ending their leases early and moving out. Overall, its a nice place to live, but the hidden fees and constant lying in not worth it. Also, for the price you are paying here, you can live at some of the other apartment complexes uptown which are MUCH better!

Highly Recommend!!
I lived at Elizabeth Square for about a year. Unfortunately I had to move out of town. Otherwise I would have stayed until I bought a home. The staff is very nice and helpful, the ammenities are GREAT, the entire building in and out is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to anyone!! I actually miss living there.

Apartments are small, staff is not helpful and very unprofessional. This is a new building but I've had to call for service around 9 times. Currently the ac doesn't work. The staff is horrible and take every opportunity to take advantage of the residents including adding fees to rent and misleading residents about lease terms. The building is too crowded and noisy. It feels like you are living in a frat house.

Awful-Not worth the Money
This place is one disaster after another. It was poorly and cheaply constructed and the management cannot handle all the problems. There is a major construction site right next door which is loud six days a week and causes traffic and parking difficulties. Most residents are very young (I have a feeling a lot of parents are paying rents!) and the place is often trashed on the weekends. Be warned look elsewhere, if you are willing to pay these prices in Charlotte you can get an awesome place, not one that just appears to be awesome!

Great staff, but noisy building
I have no issues with the way that Elizabeth Square is run. I have had no issues with payments online, and my requests for maintenance were both answered quickly. The staff have been very helpful to me, and the maintenance staff were absolutely AMAZING! There is no doubt that the human element of this apartment complex is what is working well, and I don't want to bash the building without first giving credit where credit is due. The gates, both to the parking garage and to get inside of the building, do not use keypads, but require an electronic opener; I have noticed that other residents are careful whom they allow in the building, and because we are not given generic pass-codes that we could hand out to anyone we'd like, this building is (thankfully!) very closed off. I feel very safe. However, the noise is ridiculous. From the courtyards outside, to my neighbors above and below and on all sides, there is no sound-proofing whatsoever. Add to that the fact that there is construction going on 6 days a week for the new phase of the complex, and it's a nightmare. It's definitely a structural issue, stemming from the way in which the place was built, so I would hope that they would take notice & change up the layout of the new place, if possible.
