THIS COMPLEX IS SOOOOOO BAD IT SHOULDN'T BE OPERATING. DON'T KNOW HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH IT. MY LIFE IS WORTH MORE THAN SAVING A FEW BUCKS.

Hell Naw HoneyCHile!!!
OMG this complex should be shut down until they get through repairing it. Lawd where do i begin, the grounds had plenty of trash on the on them for decoration I guess? Buildings had peeling paint everywhere, and raggedy venitician blinds. The apts I saw didn't have new carpet and they looked run down. Did I mention the trash cans were overflowing and the agent was walking and talking like everything was okay. She was apologizing that the clean up man was gonna clean everything up. She offered me a larger apt, I couldn't wait to get out of that office and away from those death trap of apartments!!!! By the way parking under the shed was free...LOL! I wouldn't want a stray dog living here and I ain't no animal lover, you get my drift??? Tenants put EVERYTHING on their balconies, even kids playing loud. The ------ is NOT only in Oakcliff it's all over the world!

Unsafe Place!
Too many crimes and criminals! Too many potheads and petty drug dealers! Too many threats to mgmt staffs. Too many roaches and too cheap corporate mgmt. and nice mgmt staffs, both office and maintenance.

Terrrible Managers and roaches
First, roaches were all over the place when I moved in. I did not realize this the first night because I moved in at night. They had to remove the carpet just to get rid of the roach infestation. Furthermore, the managers at this apartment are terrible, hard to deal with people.

GREAT PLACE TO LIVE
I moved here in 2003 and have enjoyed family living at it's best! I had to have back surgery about three months after moving, and was very depressed. My husband died of a heart attach righ before I moved and I felt like I had no one. The Management here, (Chris who has become like a daughter, Rose and Yolanda who are like sisters and Max the Head Maintainance person and his wife) went out of their way to make me feel like I belonged. If you are looking for a family friendly (really like family) place to live, where everyone looks out for you and your kids, then this is the place to be. It is said, "it takes a village to raise a family" and this is the village you want to be in. From the first day, you will feel loved and welcome. Never mind the fact we all love kids and enjoy them palying. You have a life time to grow up, but you are a kid only once.

Never ever rent from this property
I have lived at this complex for only 4 months, and already I can tell you this, that it is my worst nightmare!!!! First of all I kept asking to see the apt that I would occupy and the manager kept saying that it was not ready, finally when I was able to check the place out,I was floored the manager informed me 2 days before my move in date that the previous tenant was very filty and that roaches were a problem to get rid of and that they would continue to exterminate after my move in,because there was not enough time for me to move elsewhere I was stuck like chuck and I was hot enough to catch a fire, then to add insult to injury,I was placed in the bottom apt with a girl and 3 children in the aboe apt. If you think this has not been a trip, think again. Upon moving in you sign your lease and there is a clause that states one tenant can not disturb the peace of another tenant, that's a lie,I have had children running from 9:30am to 1:00 and 2:30 in the morning along with adults that stomp the floors, drag things accross the floor so that you can not rest, bumping against the walls to cause unnecessary stress, and here is the topper running water evering five minutes for 15minutes,and I have been to the manager 5 different times and she has done absolutely nothing because this is her family and friend.Between the property security company and Dallas police dept,I have placed 25 calls for disturbances, and as of yet nothing has been done. I am so tired of being told that I need to move and I am 60 years old and first of all what good does it do to sign a lease if it is not going to be enforced?I have sent faxes to the corporate company that is suppose to be over the manager of this property and again nothing has been done, the tenant over me is out of control and no one seems to care.I pay my rent and I feel that the manager should do her job,and realize that if you allow one person to ignore your rules, then why should others tow the mark?My car has been keyed 4 times and when I have gone to the manager you read her facial expression that she could care less, one way or the other. I am preparing to move because I have had enough, and I deserve a H--L of a lot better. So take my advice when you are preparing to move to your next home make sure that you do not in anyway consider Summerhill apartments on Whitehurst!!!!!!!!!

Roach Infestation
We just moved to Dallas, last August, and were ready to take in the big city life. I didn't realize that the apratments we were moving to was part of the ------. Not even our avorite pizza place won't deliver beacuse they have been robbed here to many times. The assistant manager is the rudest lady you have ever met, calling here a lady by the way is a lie. We have the worst roach infestation ever. The maintnence guy keeps making a fit because I vut into his lunch time, I mean sorry isn;t it your job to fix things around the apartment. I you can afford something better don't rent here. Oh unless you like living in a place where you have a drug dealers in line down the street and a hookers ready to be picked up.

I have lived in Summerhill Apts for about 4 yrs. Maintenance is always prompt. Neighbors are friendly. Working class environment - No section 8. Very Roomy. The only problems I have had were w/ the noise levels from my "New" neighbors, but after notfying management - the issues were resolved. Gated community!

very nice places to live
i currently live at summerhill been living here for 1 year and about to renew my lease, i never had any problems of any kind , i come home late from the club and i never notice any such thing as prostitution or drug the only thing i notice is the cameras, and under cover police patrol that they have hire for are safety.. so to whom ever wrote that looks can be deceiving was probably the out there selling drug and prostituting... i guess ever one is entitle to there own opinion.... no where is safe,so take care because i care...

Looks are deceiving
Don't let the looks of the place fool you.<br>The two people who posted great things about this place are probably the same people happily selling crack on the premises. Daytime the place seems to be a nice place to live. Anyone, before moving here just make 1 trip to the place between 10pm and 2 am. I don't think you can argue that this would not be a good thing to do before you move to any place!<br>

Great Apts
I lived at SummerHill for four years and never had any trouble with maintenance or, office staff. Yes it is one cover parking per apt but there is alot of non cover parking for guest or if you have two cars. I strongly recommend other people to SummerHill it has great landscaping with a nice pool and it's people freindly. There is no where safe to live you can live in the most beautiful place in the world and there is still going to be drugs, murderers, prostiute hell for all we know it can be your mother, father, brother or sister ,ect for all we know??

Easy access to schools, shopping and crack cocaine
I have lived in many, many apts. but this is the first where I have been terrified to go to my car after dark. <br><br>During the 4 mths. I lived there (yes, I broke my lease to move early) I could sit on patio in the evening and watch children playing, and men selling drugs. Not to mention the addicts and prostitutes that wonder around the apartment at night.

Not Recommended
Only 1 parking permit per apartment. (Not assigned spot) <br>Consistently had to notify management of water leaks 3 or 4 times before they would be fixed. Written and verbal requests for repairs were often ignored or "lost" between office and maintenance crew. When they do fix something it will always be your fault. They will make up some excuse for it being broken and just complain the whole time while doing the repairs. <br> <br>Several of our kitchen appliances damaged due to kitchen water leaks <br> <br>My wife was electrocuted because of a water leak that management already knew about with 2 notices. (We finally went directly to maintenance) <br> <br>We were promised new dishwasher and ceiling fan by management who implied free. Maintenance refused to install until we paid installation fees. <br> <br>While my wife was pregnant maintenance failed to notify us that very strong chemicals for putting a new tub would be used next door to us which filled our apartment with fumes and could have caused birth defects. Both my daughter and wife woke up feeling sick due to these fumes. <br> <br>I was told paint for the walls would be provided upon request. A few months before moving out I requested in writing paint along with other repairs. My requests in writing were ignored. I now have a bill from Summer Hill with one of the items being $150 for paint. I do not feel I am responsible for this since they claim to provide paint to tenants and refused. <br> <br>I have to say even though I was a minority at this apartment complex all the neighbors were quite friendly. Tons of drugs going through the place. A couple of guys would smoke weed in front of my place at least once a month. <br> <br>About a month before I moved out there was even a shooting in one of the apartments. <br> <br>Dallas police always at this place. <br> <br>My brother came and stayed with me for a short while. Every single night he was there more and more damage was done to his Cadillac. Broken windows, steering column but they couldnýt seem to actually take the car. Maintenance just swept up the glass around the car and never notified anyone. <br> <br>Also if you like loud music and sub woofers, this is the place for you. Plenty of those. <br> <br>I lived in two apartments at this complex. First an efficiency (studio). While there, there were 3 attempts of people breaking in. (One even while my wife was there!) The second was a one bedroom one bath. Twice people attempted to break in. Even cracking the doorframe. Had a bicycle stolen. <br> <br>If you choose to live here try not to go out after dark especially on the weekends. So many times I would witness people get beat up and attempted car thefts. I even have pictures of a brand new impala right behind the apartment I was staying at with all its rims stolen sitting on blocks! Almost every morning if you walk around the parking lot you are bound to find cars with broken windows and their stereos gone. <br> <br>There are alarm systems in each apartment but no longer function without setting up your own contract with a security monitoring system. When management decided to make the change of making the tenants set up their own accounts for some reason they decided it would be a good idea to announce to the entire block with fliers that the systems would no longer function past a certain date. I still can´t believe they did that. <br> <br>Call the police before you move to an area. They can tell you how safe an area is. <br>
