Now the pool and Gym are CHAINED UP! WTF?
I am so done with this damn place. I went to workout on Sunday early evening to find a chain on the gate to get into the area where the gym is located. There was a young girl getting her mail and I asked her the deal and she said the City of Frisco had to come in and shut it down due to safety and health violations. She thought the city actually put the chain on the gate. I am not even a little surprised. This place is just one big safety hazard and the management could careless as long as they are getting their money. I'll take a picture if I can to post it. So, I pay for a pool that I can't use, I pay for a grill that is out by the pool that I can't use and now I pay for a gym that I can't use either. AWESOME!!!! Where is the discount off my rent? Isn't THAT stuff part of what the rent pays for? Oh and what's up with the huge aggressive dogs that they said aren't allowed. They scare the crap out of my little pup all the time when I take him for a walk.

$390
It cost me 390 dollar to cool 1,100 square feet to 78 degrees. The management left a note on my door stating that they could not fix the air conditioner, so we should by dark colored curtains. You should take your rent somewhere else, I plan on it when my lease is up.

Awesome staff & property
I'm a new resident @ the residence of starwood on 5/30/09. By far one of the most knowledable staff (Keisha) members I've ever leased from. Great property with exceptional amenities. I'd refer friends and family to this property in a heart beat. I never thought I'd move to Frisco but I've found a new home. Thanks

Luxury? I think not.
To call this place luxury is a joke. I have attached a photo of the "intimate style" pool they advertise for this complex. More like a green nasty pond if you ask me. The gutters are falling off the buildings and the carports are held onto their posts with bungi cords. DO NOT MOVE HERE. The ammenities are a joke! They charge high prices for a ------ lifestyle.

long term resident
I have lived here for almost 9 years and this current staff is above all the best I have ever encountered. A apartment community with a heart, that is rare. Leaps and bounds ahead of the crowd this place is a community not just a apartment. My neighbors are helpful and friendly, there is a great balance of all ages of people, and people out right just respect each other. Way to Go Starwood team for making it a great place to be.

Just moved in
All these reviews are from residents that lived here over a year ago. It's a nice place to live, take it from someone who has moved 6 times in the last 4 years in the immediate area. All the apartments in this area claim the same thing, and all will raise your rent when it comes time to renew. It's just the business they're in. So far it's been a good experience. I lived at Sonsrena and I don't think there was a month that went by without calling 911 to report a fight. We had some friends that lived here last year and they really enjoyed it too. They actually recommended them to us and we love it so far. All the doors are on the first floor with private stairs inside the apartment which is nice. It's close to the tollway which is good for travel a little less good for noise but not horrible. Oh, the pool is empty.. but it's April so they are trying to get it prepped for summer the office says. Neighbors have been nice and there are plenty of dogs in the complex. Great for my family of 4. The kitchen is a little small and not a very efficient use of space but what do we expect in apartment?

A Fabulous Place to Live
We are having an excellent experience at the Residences at Starwood. The amenities are awesome, with special regard to the Gym. Management has made special accomodations for our family that we really appreicate. Compared to all other places we have lived in the past, both apartments and houses, this community is by far the best! I would certainly recommend this as a great place for families of all sizes. Above all, this community has everything you need...large closets, open floorplans, ample parking, and AWESOME management.

Its' still a safe and nice place
I was reading the reviews and honestly I think you people need to get a life. This is a very quiet community. Sure the pool is closed and it sucks but everything can't be perfect all the time. This is still by far a pretty nice --- place to live. Those of you who think different maybe should try getting your --- in a house and stop complaining. Personally I like living here, it's clean and the people are nice. Would I like the pool to be open? Hell yeah! But I also understand that ---- happen. I love my apartment.

HORRIBLE PLACE
DON'T MOVE HERE. THE AIR CONDITIONER UNITS DO NOT WORK. THEY ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE APARTMENT UNITS. THE POOL WAS SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO HEALTH REGULATIONS. THERE ARE RAT PROBLEMS ON THE PROPERTY. THEY ARE OLD FASHION AND THE "AMMENITIES" ARE NON EXISTANT. THE ROOF HAS LEAK FOR 3 YRS. THE PROPERTY IS OWNED BY THE CONNOR GROUP AND THEY ARE SIMPLY JUST PROPERTY FLIPPERS. MY WARNING TO YOU IS DONT MOVE THERE. THEY ONLY TEMPORARILY "FIX" THINGS LONG ENOUGH TO SELL THE PROPERTY. BETTER PLACES TO MOVE FOR THE MONEY. IN 1 WORD HORRIBLE. THE ONLY DECENT REVIEWS COME FROM MANAGEMENT. HOW PATHETIC.......

Moving Out--sad to go...
I realize the rates went up, but that's to be expected. I realize not everyone has had a positive experience--that's true of any apartment since no one can make everybody happy all the time. I also realize that mistakes happen and people don't always do what you'd like them to, but I must say that I am going to miss my apartment here. I had probably the best experience here out of all the apartments I've lived in and have enjoyed the quiet surroundings and the german village feel to the complex--my new complex feels much less cozy. My neighbor did slam her door everytime she arrived/departed and it shook my bedroom wall right before I heard her every footstep up the staircase, and I could hear the lady above me peeing, vacuuming, showering, and walking, and yes, there are two gates that never work but all of that was nothing out of the ordinary for apartment living (well, maybe the gate thing isn't too common) and you have to learn to take the good with the bad. The staff have always been helpful to me--granted I haven't moved out completely yet and still have to give them my keys and get my deposit back, but so far being an uninvolved resident I've been satisfied. My apartment was beautiful inside, was HUGE for the price (yes, even the increased price) and the sunrise and sunset were both visible from my front porch--I will miss that the most. I parked practically at my front door under a FREE carport (good luck finding that elsewhere--don't ever change that apartment managers!!!), had beautiful faux wood floors, an incredibly large closet (could have been a bedroom!) and that bathtub was great! My neighbors were all nice people who would lend a screwdriver or an egg anytime and would wave and greet me each time we were outside at the same time. My point is this, you can't expect to get the house experience from an apartment but your attitude can turn an imperfect apartment into a suitable home until you're able to buy a single family home on your own. Smile more, complain less, and you'll be happier no matter what happens. Happy apartment living!

Regarding the comments below
You are right! The law states a legal description must be attached to any lease over 12 months, which is exactly why we have one attached to each lease signed since we acquired the community in July 2006. If you come by the office I will be more than happy to copy the addendum from your file so you have it for your records. I will not respond to the other comments as they are obviously made in anger and have no validity. I'm very sorry you feel you have had an unpleasant experience at our community. We strive to meet the needs of our residnts and offer a community they are proud to call home. It has been a very rough transition for some residents and we apologize for any inconveniences they may have had. When we purchased this property, there was no landscaping, the exterior paint was peeling, the fitness center was crammed with fitness equipment from the 1980's that was not operational, the business center had been taken over by management and used for storage, the pool had been closed for three months and they were officing out of a vacant apartment because the office had caught fire nine months prior with no renovations planned and there were no amenities for the residents to enjoy at all. Since we began managing the community in July 2006, we have changed the name, completed a full exterior paint, replaced every garage door, remodeled the office, remodeled and expanded the size of the fitness center, purchased $40,000 in brand new heavy duty commercial fitness equipment and purchased very nice pool furniture and a top of the line grill to hold us over until pool renovations begin in the fall. In addition, we are at the tail end of a $213,000 landscape improvement project that will make the property as beautiful as it ahould be. Not only that, but the plant materials being intalled are drought tolorant to keep the property green while we suffer through another two years of water restrictions. As with any property that has been renovated, we have increased the rates. This has burdened some of the residents because this was the least expensive community with rates $200-$400 less than comparable apartment communities in our market. Infact, when many residents toured other communities in our area they resended their notice to vacate once they saw we were not over priced. We constantly keep abreast of the properties in our market and adjust our rates accordingly. With or without the renovations, the rates were too low. All of the wonderful changes are worth the time and lashings we take on a daily basis. Our goal is to improve the living experience of each of our residents. As much as I'd like to, I can't make everyone happy but I am always available to discuss your concerns. We now have a great looking community that I am very happy to be a part of. I know change can be difficult, especially when it involves your personal finances. If beating up the manager makes it a little easier, I can deal with that. I am very appreciative of the residents that stuck with us on this project and have been amazingly patient, accomodating and kind through the major construction. I hope you are pleased with the improvements. Lastly, I'm very proud of the maintenance staff and leasing team. Their drive and momentum have never failed even under enormous pressure. They have been repeatedly verbally abused and still maintain the highest professionalism with ease. Thank you, The Residences at Starwood Your thoughts? Post a response to this review. You are right! Take a closer look...
I was going to complete my lease there but after being badgered many times over by the new management, I looked closely at my lease. For those not in the "know".... Any lease in Texas that is twelve months or longer, must have a legal description of the unit listed on the lease. If there is no legal description, the lease (even signed by both parties) is void. Therefore, a tenant is not required to give notice to move out since the lease was not valid to begin with. (Call a real estate attorney to verify if you like.) Secondly... I took it upon myself to investigate the manager (------) after being accused of petty lease violations she claimed were grounds to evict. I wonder if her employer knows about her criminal background? I'm sorry, let me clarify.... The manager of that apartment community was actually convicted of Theft By Check. If memory serves me correctly, she had two of these charges. This is information that can be verified on PublicData.com and/or the Department of Public Safety. I just read that she is suspected of infidelity. I wonder what her husband would say about that? (If she has actually separated and/or divorced prior to that... my apologies.) I have been in contact with two of the girls who were under the former management and they told me that they were treated exactly the same by the new management as they have treated the tenants since the takeover. They told me that they miss the residents and unfortunately, they were not able to let residents know what type of people had taken over. But hey.... if the intention of the new owner was to bring in a criminal to run the tenants off... Well they hired the right person.

Glad I am moving!
I have lived in these apartments since 2004. I have loved living here because it's in an incredible area with everything you need close by. It is normally quiet, unless you have the misfortune, as I have the past few months, of living near someone who is loud, has big dogs and enters their apartment late at night and talks loudly to their friends right outside your bedroom door. The new management has made some steps in improving the area, but are no where near as nice as the prior management. Maintenance is really, really slow at fixing any problems you may have and have really poor communication skills. I am really glad to be moving soon!

I have lived here since 1999
I can't believe the things people say. I am really happy since the new company bought the complex. Things are getting better everyday. The people in the office are very nice and have never treated me badly. Everyone that lives here knows the reason so many people moved out is because they went up on the rent. I was glad to see my neighbors go! The people that were living here, scared me. I like the staff and I am really happy with changes. It takes time to change the scenery, give them a break.

Apt!
I moved to Starwood back in 06, it was then Residence at Starwood...At the time it was good place to live, with reasonable rates.(2b/2b $780) After a few months the place went downhill, when management changed hands. They changed hands about every three months, up until the resent management. So our lease was up, and they wanted to offer us a deal!..What a joke, they want us to pay $1059 for a 2bedroom 2 bath? You have got to be kidding, they are no way worth that much! I must say that if you move here expect for your electric bill to be around $200/300 a month due to poor insulation. That is as much as a house! It will be much higher in the summer.I was friends with several other residence, and it just wasn't us...Also they never fulfill work orders, or do things promised..They sent out flyers that they would be changing smoke detector batteries, and air filters..those were never done..So instead, they used that money to have a pool party! We had a window that leaked when it rained, and it was never fixed!!!You can never get anyone to help you when you have to pick up a package, no one is to be found, its like they are hiding...Also the gates never worked while we lived there..So much for a gated community! Anyone that says this is a nice place to live, hasn't found out yet!..lol So glad to be away from them in my OWN place..Oh, and don't expect to get your deposit back, they will find something wrong with the place so they can keep it..I gladly said keep it! GOOD RIDDANCE

I am pleased with the way things are beginning to look
I've lived here three years and like it much better now than before. This place was falling apart so badly I was embarassed to bring friends over. I had already started looking for a new apartment but decided to wait and see what these people do. The office people are always nice to me and most importantly, they actually send a maintenance guy when you call. They have always been responsive and courteous when I have dealt with them.

Keep Looking
we lived there for a year and it's a nice enough place to live, although the new staff is ridiculous and not at all helpful or knowledgable. when we moved out, they were just transitioning into their positions and they certainly made a mess of the entire process. the floorplans are a bit strange, they are VERY cheaply built and the "gated community" status is a joke. those gates didn't work the entire year we lived there and still don't (as we drive by often). the pool was frequently closed, too, and when it was open, was usually disgustingly dirty. you'd be better off at another complex, as frisco has many nicer ones than this. try closer to stonebriar centre for some good options.

cute floorplan but not a good place to live
I agree with everything written about the new staff. When I visited the complex, the old staff knew everyone by name and was friendly. The new staff has no clue who I am even though they have been dealing with me for almost six months. I don't like to have to talk to the management, as I would prefer to just live in my apartment and be left alone. Instead, I am counting down the days until I can move out. I am planning on filing a complaint with the TEA and also taking the owner to small claims court. If you choose to live here, be aware that this complex is now owned by a private company out of Nevada and you can not talk to anyone above the office staff. They will not give out a phone number. If you need to contact the owenership, you may only do so in writing to a P.O. Box address. In my personal experience, the office staff has always acted as though my presence in their office is a huge hassle and is taking them away from thier very important personal conversations. My recomendation is to find somewhere else to live.

The new staff is --------. These people do not have a clue and are outright oblivious to anything going on. Try asking a question about something simple and expect to get the runaround. I just avoid the leasing office at ALL costs.

The Broom is in Motion
I have been here 2 1/2 years and had no problems with previous stafff. The new staff is another story. I have had a good history here and they new management has now issued threats of 24hour notice to vacate and 3-day notice to vacate. The second one is so absurd (was addressed to "resident") because they threaten eviction if a satellite dish is not moved to comply with their property guidelines (even though previous mgmt signed off on it being ok) AND FCC guidelines. Yet there is no actual mention of where in the lease of FCC regulations this can be found.
I teach landlording for a local real estate company and I am also TREC certified to teach MCE for Realtors. It is my opinion that they are doing whatever they can to bully people out of their homes/leases so they can renovate and boost the rents way up because of the proximity to the gated Starwood homes and the opening of the extension of the Dallas Tollway.
All I can say is, if you live here now... they are coming very close (if not over) to violating TAA and/or Fair Housing regulations. I intend to file formal complaints accordingly.

Great Layout and Wonderful Staff
We lived at Stone Manor for six months when first arriving in Frisco. I found the apartment layout the best we looked at--large rooms (even the kitchen and baths)! The staff was exceptionally helpful whenever we needed anything done. The maintenance people would always ask if there was anything we needed if I saw them on the grounds! We had not lived in an apartment for many, many years and I was not looking forward to it but the people at Stone Manor made our stay so easy and comfortable.

Sandy

Not the Worst
I moved into these apartments a little over a year ago because of the previous ratings. I have not had many problems at all. Of course the gates never worked, but if that's all you need to feel secure maybe you should rethink your options. The parking scheme is a little bit awkward and the pool is very small. I have been in some terrible complexes before, but this one is not even close to the previous horrors that I have seen. I would honestly recommend these to people (unless they are allergic to wasps), in this warm weather they are all over the complex and very hard to get away from. The office says that they are working on it so I am giving them some time before I pass judgement on that problem.

Do not live here! They say they are a gated apartment complex, but they are not! The whole time I lived there the gates were broken. They told us they would get fixed and never did. If you ever need to speak with someone in the office your phone call will never be returned. The pool has been closed several times b/c it does not pass health inspections! Yuck! Living here would be a bad choice.
