Before you move in make very sure of all possible damages to the unit. Also make sure when you leave, you go over and review the apartment with the manager and discuss what damages if any were caused by your living there. Before we left, we requested a mutual review of the apartment. They declined to go over the apartment with us. We moved out. Then 2 months after moving out we received a massive bill claiming we did not clean the apartment, garbage had to be taken out, the flooring and carpet needed to be replaced. The only thing we were unable to do was clean the really cheep arpet. In addition they charged us more rent for the months we moved out and wanted rent for the next month. We were on a month to month rent. We gave notice according to the terms of the rental agreement. We moved out 2 weeks before the end of the month but payed rent in full for that month. We have multiple witnesses who saw the apartment was extremely clean when we left and also payed people to help us clean the apartment. We have proof of payment of our rent. We always payed our rent on time. I can prove these items. We were even charged for a fire extinguisher we did not even know there was suppose to be one in the apartment; we never saw one. In addition I would add in some places lighting is poor at night. In those areas I tripped and fell several times due to lack of lighting and not being able to see the steps. We reported this too. In the summer our A/C went out 2 times and it took them 3 days each time to fix the A/C. The oven in the apartment temperature did not match the dial on the appliance. Although all appliances worked, they are showing age. The refrigerator had a loose seal on the door. I have not had to rent since the mid 80. After this experience, I will never rent an apartment again.

I am new to the va, and this is one of the places that I checked out. It was my last stop for the day while looking for somewhere to live. I absolutely fell in love with these. The staff is amazing and friendly. The maintenance department is also wonderful and tentative to the minor things that needed to be attended to. I highly recommend this property. You will love it. MN

We have lived here at Ashton Creek for three years and we love it! The property manager is awesome and always helpful, and the maintenance staff are great. The property is well maintained, the lighting is good for walking in the evenings, and I feel safe living here.

The apartments are great, except you can hear the person farting in the next damn apartment. My neighbors have constantly blare their music, and don't give a ---- about anyone else in the building. Me and my wife have constantly complained to the apartment complex, but they do nothing but leave messages. We have had the police called, and they still do nothing. The parking is horrendous. If you do not get into a spot by 3pm or 4pm, good luck. This place has been a headache for me and my wife. I'm glad we are moving out this month and not giving this company another dime.

We have lived at the Ash Creek Apartments for 8 months. The reason we are leaving is because we have bought a home. We really have enjoyed living here. I would and will recommend anyone looking for an apartment to come check Ash Creek out. I love how it is pet friendly, because they are part of us and to be able to have them here is a wonderful thing. The staff is great and wonderful people to work with. It is nice when a person needs a maintenance man to know you will get a smile, helping hand and professional person at your door. Every time I walk into the office, I am greeted with a smile and a friendly hello, and what can I do for you. I love how there are dog stations for your convenience. Every morning I see a maintenance man picking up trash that has been left behind from the tendents. The office manager is always there, with an open ear. I feel we were taken care of very well at our time here. So if you want a pleasant living experience try Ash creek Apartments. It is clean, quit, and with an outstanding staff that are there for you.

I have lived in Ashton Creek for a 1 1/2 and I must say that I have enjoyed every moment. The staff and maintenance are very professional nice, friendly, and prompt in terms of responding to maintenance issues. The manager (Rebecca Webb) is the best she takes the time to explain every detail of your lease along with any changes that may come along and is very down to earth and empathetic to your needs . The complex is very quiet, secluded, and comfortable and I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone looking.

I Miss My Apartment!!
I have recently moved from Ashton Creek due to a death in my family. A friend told me of this web page to help me find another apartment. I must say, I have had no luck. I miss my old apartment. I lived at Ashton Creek a little over two years and loved it. After life settles down I will come back to the Chester area and Ashton Creek will be where I go (yet again). The Property Manager is a very humble young woman and the staff is great. They made the transition for me very easy. I have never lived in a complex where the staff makes you feel welcome every time you call or come in. The Assistant manager has been there from the time I moved in & has always been respectful & helpful. If it were stars I was giving out..they would get 5 out of 5 from me & my family. Thank you, Ashton Creek for everything you have done & continue to do. I will return.

don't believe everything you read
I was very skeptical when I came here to look at apartments. I read the reviews and I guess curiousity got the best of me and I had to take at look. I have been here for almost 4 months and I love it!!!! The staff at the office are very nice and spend plenty of time with you when you come in with a question or concern. I of course like most of my neighbors had questions about the pool being closed. I went to the office and spoke with them and took the time to explain to me why the pool was closed and that were working to get it fixed. And of course the pool is now open and we have been enjoying it since it reopened. I understand the concern for our safety and the safety of our family where the pool was concerned. I admit it was a pain when it was closed and 98 degrees outside. But I would rather have it closed and keep my family safe then have a staff that doesnt care and would put myself and kids at risk. My apartment is nice, spacious, and is good for the price. I have recomended Ashton Creek and 2 of my friends are moving in at the first of August. So don't deny yourself the opportunity to live in a nice place and not have to sepnd a fortune, just because someone has a axe to grind. DON'T BELIVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!!!!!!

Parking Lot From Hell/No Swimming Poo >:P
large amount of vehicles with expired tags and inspection stickers run rampant in this parking lot. I have even seen cars abandoned here by residents who have moved out. these cars take up space from PAYING RESIDENTS who have to speed home in order to get a space anywhere near the apartment (the parking problem is in the back of the community where the 3 bedrooms are located. so for those of you who have families and want to move into a 3 bedroom beware. on another note, the pool is also closed for the season. reason? they have the pool baskets that have been recalled by the government and did not replace them prior to the swimming season. they had more than enough time to get the problem taken care of but didn't. rent is also too high for the quality of the apartments and the excessive noise from your neighbors above you. yes, you truly can hear everything. there is only one trash compactor that is located at the entrance/exit and the light that is located there hardly ever works. so word to the wise, don't take your trash there at night. the community also has poor lighting throughout the community. a lot of "dark spots" near the buildings. look at other apartments before renting here.

Wouldn't recommend to my enemy
Community looks great at first glance but after living here for almost a year we plan on moving. Maintenance is great; they have great personalities and were always helpful and friendly. Management is a pain to deal with. We had an inadequate A/C and their solution was to try cheap fixes to band-aid the problem all through the 95 degree summer. Only after multiple complaints, and a change in the property manager was it properly replaced.....half way through September. During the 3 months of the summer we totaled $800 in electric bills due to the problem. On top of that the fireplace (we had a unit with a fireplace) is very in-effecient and meets bare minimum safety code. I have seen cheap fireplaces that heat better and offer better protection (glass doors vs. this one had chain mail that slides back and forth). So if you have children or pets please beware. Also, they advertise having grills in the common area (which they do!) but are only useable during the time the pool is open (end of May till beginning of September). This is Virginia folks, there will be days during the off season that is nice enough to go out and grill. This wouldn't have been a problem except my neighbors next door stole my $25 grill. Granted it's only $25 but it really is the principle of the thing. As for neighbors, there have been numerous drug raids in the community and college kids with there "rules don't apply to us" attitudes really bring down the overall atmosphere. Unfortunately we were put next to college kids that blast their TV (could hear it in our living room when their connecting wall was the master bedroom) until 3 AM and it took calling the cops several times to get anywhere (that's after talking to the neighbors a couple of times and talking to the front office). Community grounds, are always dirty. It seems like people around here don't know what a trash can is. When we walk our dogs we see everything from cigarette butts, beer bottles/cans, wrappers, food boxes (cereal, hamburger helper, etc..), and cellophane laying on the ground all the time. Not to mention people DO NOT pick up their pets' waste which makes playing with out animals in the yard a challenge. This is what we have dealt with in a years time being stationed at Fort Lee.

Bad Seems to Outweigh the Good
I have lived in Ashton Creek for about seven months and never really had an issue until the new neighbors moved above us. Now it is a total nightmare. They run their washing machine at all hours of the night, which sounds like it is in our apartment. Their kid wakes up around 5:30 to 6:00AM every morning and begins running from one end of the apartment to the other and jumps off of furniture. The noise is akin to our building being hit by artillery shells. The office will do nothing about this, and the people never answer the door when we try to inform them just how loud they are. Everyone who visits say they have never heard anything like it before in their life. We are now developing cracks in the walls because of this. I assume we will have to start calling the cops every morning since the apartment complex will say nothing to its residents. I feel it is also important to note that the parking is horrible. If you get home after 7:00PM, good luck parking anywhere near your apartment. If you have to park on the other side of the median, do not walk through the grass. It is littered with what I like to call "doggie mines" since it seems a lot of people do not feel it is their responsibility to pick up after their animals.

Can't wait to leave
We have lived here for a few months, but I can say we can't wait to get out of here already. The parking is crazy! If you don't get home before five pm, you are going to have to walk a ways to get home. Some of the staff members tell you that whatever problem you have they will fix, and as soon as you leave, nothing gets done. The air conditioning sucks, we were told because the air conditioners were 20 years old, they were working as good as they could; that was it. We were also told that the pipes kept freezing up and that was another reason and yet nothing was done, even after many phone calls. The prices of these apartments are ridiculous, you are not getting what you pay for in my opinion. The only reason we chose this place is because we are military, there wasn't anything available on post at that time, we couldn't afford to keep living in a motel, and this place had an apartment open, so we jumped on it. That was our big mistake.

Maybe Maybe Not
I have lived here just under a year. I have not had any problems with the staff. They are all very friendly and make sure to acknowledge you when they see you. The maintenance staff is super friendly and responds quickly. The apartments are very small, and all carpet, which I hated. I found that minor things that needed to be repaired were rigged, and broke very often and continued to be rigged. They are in the process of changing out the wood railings and ties to metal railing and brick landscape blocks. The grounds keepers are quick, friendly and good at what they do. I have a fireplace, and it does NOTHING to heat the house, plus you have to carry groceries up a HUGE flight of stairs, so unless you HAVE to have it, I'd opt to NOT have a top floor apartment with a fireplace. The homes are constructed fairly well, The windows are older and a bit drafty. Electric bill for me runs about 80 (i don't use heat) in the winter and about 200 in the summer (gotta have AC). I NEVER hear my attached neighbors, that's a plus. It is fairly quiet, and there is no drama. I live on a top floor apartment with little kids, and have yet to be complained about. Really my only major complaint is parking. Doesn't matter where they live, people will park wherever, and that gets annoying when you have had a long day at work, and you have to walk quite a distance to get to your front door. I also think the rent is a bit high for the amount of living space you get. PS> THERE IS NO STORAGE ROOM!!!!! I'd say as a first time home, this would be great.

Ridiculous!
Everything here is great, except for the fact that they allow a tractor trailer be parked on the side of the street. Who ever owns it lets it run from anywhere between 3-5 hours a day. Not to mention once it was until 11:45 on a sunday night. And its extremely loud, we constantly run our air conditioning just beacuse we can;t have any windows open!!! Definitely a huge problem!

great place to live.
I moved here from a super ------ apartment in Richmond, this is ten times better, I have had no problems at all. well the only problem I have is that Hyde park is so close, that place is super ------, the drug dealers live there and its a bunch of teens that go to JTCC.The only thing that seperates our apartments from theirs is a shoddy wooden fence. It is always quite here, everything in the apartment works great. Great parking lots, the do the yard work every weekend in the summer and keep it looking great. Rent is a little high, and you have to make three times the rent, and a credit check, but that is how they weed out the teens. It is right in the heart of chester, near everything you would need. I just renewed my lease, I am not moving out until we get a house.

Great Place at a Great Price
I have lived here for a year now and am only moving because I have taken a job in another state. Maintenance is very quick and the Management is extremely friendly. Parking can be a bit of an issue if you live in a certain area of the apartments (toward the back) and get home later in the evening. The fitness center is kind of a joke and is routinely under repair, but I only use it as a place to go when I don't want to drive all the way to my gym. The grounds are well kept and the apartments are quiet. I would live here again and recommend it to others that I currently work with.

good and bad
We have lived here almost a year, and just renewed our lease. I wish we hadnt. Something happen with our rent and the check bounced BAKC IN NOV!! They are letting us know now in March and gave us 4 days to pay 1000.00. I understand its our fault, but come on 4 days to pay? We cannot afford to live in these apartments anymore. They don't do anything for the community except let you know when rent is late, if there is a problem in the neighborhood. I was scated to answer every time they called because I thought it was going to be something bad ( when I know I didnt do anything ) I have rented apartments better for less. Pet fee is crazy!! $300 per dog and non refundable.

Not a fan
I Lived here for a year, and I thought the place looked very run down and dark. I lived on the bottom floor, and the noise from above was awful. The apartment also reaked of smoke, even though no one EVER smoked in my apartment. It was coming through the vents, and made everything smell of smoke. The parking lot is always to capacity at night, and I often had to walk a great distance from my car to my apartment, which made me feel a little unsafe. Also, the washer and dryer were so small it took forever to do laundry. The knob on the dryer didn't even work, and it took forever to dry a coupel shirts. I would not rent here again!

Great Place to Live!!!
We lived here a year and we would not have moved if it was not recieveing a new job!! The staff is VERY friendly and polite!! Maintence is super fast, friendly, and ALWAYS get the job done. We had a problem with our AC running constantly for a whole week and brought it to the attention of the office staff and it was not only fixed in one day but teh paid the differnece of our bill for that month (we did not even expect that)! The apartments are very nice. We lived on the bottom floor and there was very minimal noise that you could hear coming from the family that lived above us! Felt very safe and secure!!! AGAIN I LOVE THE STAFF and WOULD RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX!!1

Nice place to live
Truly enjoy living here. The apartments are laid out well. The staff are always polite and courteous. Maintenance is swift (within a day or two). In the back of the complex is moderatly quiet, but still noisy enough. Dogs are allowed, only a couple of breed restrictions. For the price, I would defintely recommend!

Good place to live.
I have had no problems at this complex. The office staff has always been fair and professional with me. If something breaks in my apartment, someone comes out to check on it within a day. I am a single female and live by myself, when I come home from work late at night I safe walking up to my door. My apartment is very comfortable and while it is not the newest community, the price is fair. I am not willing to pay $100 extra a month to live in a newer community and have to pay a ton of hidden fees! I have a had a pleasant experiene here and would recommend it for its consistency. Good service, low utility bills, and quick maintenance.
