Good with the bad
We have just renewed and look forward to another year here. When we moved here we realized that there would be construction all around us which meant some noise and dust but we didn't mind because we really love the location and had heard how the area was projected to grow. We've been really happy here and have met a lot of great people who also love it here. It is a shame to see negative things said when you can see that the management works hard to keep up with the maintenance of this community and seem to be very responsive to the residents needs. They have added a lot of conveniences since we moved in that we appreciate. We WOULD recommend this place for anyone wanting to be close to the park and to downtown.

Rent here if you like the smell of dog waste
Rent here if you like the smell of dog waste.<br>I live on the 1st floor & I can t even have my windows open on a nice day because it smells AWEFUL! Not just a faint hint of it either ..it is gag inducing! They poo & pee on the rocks right under the windows & no one bothers to clean it up, then it bakes in the sun for days on end. UG. I m not talking a few little tootsie rolls either we are smelling & stepping around some logs!<br><br>Rent here is you like the beeping sound of construction trucks backing up all day long. There is constant construction noise. That includes bright & early on Saturdays! Another reason to never open your windows. <br><br>Rent here is you like cheap construction. The walls are so paper thin. You can hear your neighbors voices even if they are just speaking at a reasonable volume! Constant slamming of doors. <br><br>Rent here if you like a luke warm hot tub. The hot tub is not hot. The pool, even though it is open all year round, is COLD. Unless you are in the polar bear club it is useless.<br><br>And yes the staff is RUDE & very pretentious! Some may not think that is important, but I feel that when you give someone your hard earned money, it s nice to be treated with a bit of courtesy.

Does anyone notice that fortune and basic fortune sound like the same person??(probobly someone in management) As far as "fortune's" comments, I think some of the comments are legitimate and some ridiculous. We moved to the Retreat because we are getting a dog and wanted a place near a park with secure parking, not because we wanted a super friendly management team; why do people care how friendly the management team is? As for the dog messes they were a problem but I think management has done more than enough to solve the problem. They made changes to the parking rules because too many people were illegally parking in the underground structure, but since they have assigned spaces, we haven't had any issues. The trash situation is disguesting, the problem, is that the chute is too small for any bags larger than a small kitchen trash bag so most people dont bother to try to cram their trash down the tiny chute and the bags start to pile up, again, I don't think they made a smart choice for a trash chute, but how is that management's fault? My problem with the Retreat is that we directly asked our leasing agent if there was construction work being done during the weekends and we told "rarely ever" and the crew has been working every Saturday at 7am and some Sundays at 7am since the weekend we moved in; it's extremely loud and they are just about to break ground on the second tower, so it's bound to get worse, not better. Additionally, living in a construction zone is very dirty, our cars are always filthy, the parking structure is filthy and dusty and our apartment is constantly full of dust; again I'm not blaming the super friendly management team, I'm just giving my opinion of what it's like to live here. It is also a very cheaply built property, we constantly hear every one of our neighbor's televisions and stereos through the floor and walls, you can also hear everyone who walks down the hall because the doors are not sealed properly. Additionally, we received our renewal notice and they planned to raise the rent, the construction keeps getting worse and City Park is a complete mess, but somehow they feel justified to raise the rent not discount people for the inconveniences. I understand there are positives and negatives everywhere, but for the price and hassles, I feel there are much better options in Denver.

Horrible place to live
Retreat at the park looks nice, but thats it. My experince living here has been a nightmare. my reaons being :naked people having sexual relations in the resident hot tub, being sexually harrasses by the office staff, and getting charged WAY to much for a very cheaply made apartment and on top of that getting charged for every little thing that happns. I would definantly not recommend this building. This apartment is as good as its location right off Colfax!!!! If you have any consideration for your quality of life, you will definantly look around for a different place to live!!

We just renewed!!! We are really happy here
We found this website by accident and were surprised at what was written considering how much we love it here. We moved from out of state and have lived in a lot of nice apartments but never anywhere that had such nice management. We love the notes that the manager sends out and anytime we have a question or concern all of them have been nothing but respectful and work hard to help. We've had a chance to meet a lot of our neighbors over the last year who also think highly of these guys. Of course things can break and we all hated that the trash piled up during the Blizzard but we also saw the maintenance guys here early in the mornings and even on the weekends making sure that the trash chutes were cleaned out and snow was shovelled. We love all of the resident events they put together. We've never lived anywhere that had so many parties. It was such a great surprise to drive out one morning and see these guys out there serving breakfast. They keep on adding new services and programs to make this place different and better than other places. I would absolutely recommmend this place.

Complaints
I have started to email parking complaints daily to Retreat, not to mention writing plate numbers and taking pictures. I was told that they would start towing cars every night until the parking situation was under control and that has yet to happen.<br><br>Don't waste your money!

Disappointment at the Park: Good Potential/Not Realized Due to Management
Retreat at the Park has a wonderful location. A new building/community, management talks a good game, but is unwilling/unable to create/sustain a quality residential environment. To wit: Piles of trash accumulate and is not picked up regularly. The results are foul odors and unattractive heaps of garbage detract from the building. <br><br>If you are disabled, with limited physical mobility, forget the Retreat at the Park. An attempt at a ramp to the office is frequently is dangerous due to snow and ice, to which management seems oblivious. To add insult, management allows (encourages) residents to park in spots reserved for the disabled. Equally bad, management does nothing about residents who park wherever/whenever, including in the driving lanes clogging access in or out of the garage. <br><br>Thankfully, the Retreat at the Park allows dogs. Regretfully, management allows residents' and their dogs to be irresponsible about picking up after the dogs. Could it be they like the foul odor and don't care about demeaning the quality of life? <br><br>I could go on, but why bother? In summary, the office staff, with one exception, are rude, unresponsive, unreliable and uneducated about fair housing laws. We pay top dollar to reside at the Retreat at the Park, and expect a high quality residential environment, but I'm sorry to say our experience, thus far, makes me want to re-name at apartment/community to "Disappointment at the Park." You are forewarned: Do Not Be Fooled!

DONT BE DECEIVED
The building was built way to quickly and carelessly. Its just a matter of time before something will go SEVERELY wrong in your apartment if you live here. WHEN it does, that is the LEAST OF YOUR WORRIES. The managment LIES. They tell you anything to get you in and the moment you sign your lease you are treated as though it is your fault that things went wrong and that you don't matter. Going to the management about an issue is responded to with a TERRIBLE attitude. You are treated as though you are being rediculous for requesting either things that you were promised or things that should be basic expectations as a tenant. It seems like a great place but is WAY too expensive to be treated the way you are.

Don't rent here if you don't like dog poop AND other issues
For two months we have been complaining about the pet excrement surrounding this building. It is sad that EVEN on walkway from the street to the sidewalk next to handicapped parking that shoveling snow and picking up excrement is beyond their responsibility because "they are not responsible from the curb to the street". City code by the way would disagree. Be careful too because you're very likely to find doggy poo in the parking garage as you get in your car. Dog bag stands are on 'eternal' order and then one only hopes that the tenants will use them ( because as we know maintenance won't pick up after the losers who don't) By the way first time this complaint was broached, we were told that "you have to understand that this is mixed housing"...whatever that is supposed to mean???<br><br>If you're planning on a brand new building with no problems also forget that. Leaking ceiling in our unit took one week just to find the root cause and now we get to live with the hassle of dry wall repair. Any good business would offer some compensation but broaching that subject just resulted in a denial because per the lease they cannot provide any compensation.<br><br>Oh and the parking...even though they provide extra parking through a heated walkway next door, tenants still park wherever their cars will fit even if it is handicapped or not designated....if security managed to get in there early enough and get plate numbers the rest of us wouldn't be punished by the same losers who probably don't pick up their dog poop.<br> Oh and the trash room....constantly overflowing and not being emptied on a regular basis so trash shoot full and room overflowing with stinky bags. <br>In summary a lot of money for a not very classy establishment and heartless manager who doesn't know how to apologize or care if your grandma slips on poopy ice at the handicapped walkway...look elsewhere and for this kind of money you will find a cleaner establishment right here in the neighborhood. 'Retreat' is a BIG MISNOMER

Great location-love our home!!!
We checked this site for comments as we searched for our new home but didn't let us stop from forming our own opinion. We had nothing but a great experience from the time we leased and through the last four months living here. Before we leased, we attended a resident function and talked to other residents who did nothing but rave about the staff. That was the deciding factor to our leasing. The staff has been very caring. It is disappointing to read negative things when you see them trying so hard.

Lies, Lies, and Horrible Management
This place is a joke. They will tell you absolutely anything to get you to move in, and then they act like everything is out of their control when things don't go right. The amenities are nice, but don't try to use them, because they are off limits to all residents. Plus, the construction goes from 6am to 6pm, six days per week. This place wants to seem professional, but they just plain don't have it together. Plus, the feeling around the leasing office is only condescending and pretentious.

Love our apartment!!!
We have just moved in after an unanticipated construction delay. We realize that this wasn't anything that the management could predict and we thought they were amazing in what they provided even though we knew they didn't have to do anything. I was most impressed with the manager and that she took the time to update us almost daily on the status. We could tell that she really cared and was deeply affected that this was causing anyone any inconvenience. We would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place.

After our move in date was pushed back several times, we were promised that we would be able to move in the day before our lease was up at our current home. At 7pm that evening we recieved a phone call informing us it would be at least one more week. With all of our stuff packed into a moving truck and no place to live, these people hung us out to dry. They are not trust worthy and don't deserve your business. Before renting here, look around. It is a buyers market and there are lots of great properties in Denver with honerable management teams.

Amazing team!!!
With new construction we realize that there can be delays that are not due to anything mmanagement can control. Although we have been delyed for move-in, I am absolutely amazed and impressed at how personally involved the manager has been in making sure that we have temporary accommodations and our moving/storage has been arranged. She has taken time to update us daily with the status and ensuring that we are okay. We have seen her efforts and understand that we are not the only one she has been working with. Yes it is disappointing but we will stick it out just for the fact that we know how much she and her team care.

NIGHTMARE!!!!! Failed building inspection leaving everyone homeless
We have a signed lease to move in today 9/29/06, but were informed at 4pm that they failed their building inspection so we cannot move in. This is not the first broken promise. We've been waiting since JUNE to move to this place (that was 5 months ago). If this is the way they treat prospective tenants (once they already have your money) how do you think they will treat you once you are living there with a lease? <br><br>Save yourself the hassle and look somewhere else.

Great Place!
This is great place so close to downtown and right across from the park it is best of all worlds. I can walk my dog in around the lake and then go out for sushi and not have to drive for a half in hour. They are still under construction, so there is noise in the mornings but that a small temporary price to pay for a brand new home. The staff is so professional, something that is not often seen in this business. I am confidante that if I have any issues they will efficiently deal with it and give me their best. <br> <br> <br>
