Overpriced and rising
My rent when I first moved in was 1068 (including storage). After our six month lease was up, we decided to go month to month paying 1240. We are now in our second month of a month to month and have the option of staying month to month at 1500 per month or $1300 (can't remember the exact amount) for a year lease. Needless to say we are leaving. I know they say that they do market research, but the Glass House downtown units go for $1500. Overall the place is ok. Nothing special other than the pool and hot tub area. Oh, and whomever said the heating/cooling bill are high are correct. They are outrageous. (we were sold on low utility bills) Feel free to call excel and see what the average cooling bills were for any apartment. I thought mine was high, but some were over $300 per month in the summer for similar size, solar exposure, etc. Basically, a a nicer version of the ballpark lofts with (mostly) better tenants.

Fantastic Living
This has been my favorite place to live ever! Convenient location to surrounding areas, and walking distance to nightlife. Wonderful staff, and friendly neighbors! I cannot say enough good things about Retreat and the Park.

Great Staff, Great People, Great Facility, And City Park Across The Street!
You would love the folks living and working here; personable, professional, respectful. The apartment is wonderful and affordable for downtown living...just 2.5 miles from work downtown and you come home to this great City Park neighborhood where there are always events in the park. You can bus from 17th Street or Colfax. The on-site pool and exercise facilities are great. Having a washer/dryer in my unit was critical to me and now always available downtown. The facility is secure, clean and maintained with excellence.

This place is horrible!
don't rent at Retreat at the Park. Management is horrible. They do not attempt to solve your issues with tenants, etc... They have demanded money for things that weren't agreed upon in the beginning and you will not get your deposit back, rather you will end up paying extra.

Management is AMAZING
I've lived here since April 2009 and have been nothing short of amazed. Tim, Melissa, and Heide are all great. Very attentive at getting things fixed. Pool is great, the people living here are all youthful, yet professional enough to not cause noise disturbances. Very dog friendly. All in all a great place to live.

A True Retreat at the Park
Having already lived in a loft downtown, my boyfriend and I wanted to stay close to the city, but also in an area where parking was ample and we were close to the outdoors. We searched for many months to find the perfect location. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a great apartment that fit our strict criteria. Not only is there secured, private parking, a fitness center, year-round pool and hot tub, but also a "Walk Score" of 91/100 ("Daily errands do not require a car.") There is a Starbucks across the street, liquor store one block down, and 7-11 one more block down. Doesn't get any more convenient than that!! In addition to the amenities, they allow pets with no weight restrictions, which is a huge bonus for animal lovers. We love having a washer and dryer in unit which can accommodate weeks of dirty laundry, which allows for more time enjoying the city and less time doing chores :). Our unit faces City Park which is enjoyable at any time of the year, but especially during the summer months when Jazz in the Park plays live music every Sunday. Gather some friends, a few bottles of wine, and walk over for a picnic. Or enjoy the music from the privacy of your own balcony. The management in the office is amazing. They are very friendly and immediately take care of any issue that may arise. They are always arranging fun parties or events for the residents at least every 1-2 months. Anything from a party bus to a Rockies game, sushi in the lounge, coffee and breakfast burritos in the morning, to beer and pizzas in the evening. The maintenance staff is quick and thorough fixing any problems even if it's just changing a light bulb. The cleaning crew keep the building and all common areas very clean and smelling fresh, which is huge for me! The only draw back is the amount of people parking in the covered lot without passes. This is especially apparent late at night and during the winter when it snows. Although I've never NOT been able to find a spot in the garage, it is more difficult to find one on my floor because of all the defiant parkers. There is supposed to be someone regulating the cars that park in there to make sure they have passes, but I have yet to see anyone be ticketed, let alone towed. Management has tried to deter people from parking there who don't belong by issuing passes, but there will always be those @$$h0Le$ who just don't want to follow the rules. I think management could do a better job regulating the repeat offenders, but it is only a minor drawback. There also is plenty of street parking, not that I have had to park there, but when friends visit and the guest lot is full (of more defiant, non-paying residents) there is always space on the street.

Great Place to Live!
These apartments are in a great spot - right across from City Park and just a block from Colfax bars, restaurants, and entertainment. The pool is always in great condition. The work out room is a great bonus! I would highly recommend checking it out!

Great location - nice community
We moved into Retreat at the Park in January of 2010. We chose it for several reasons: proximity to City Park, local elementary school (Teller Elementary), and ease of access to area attractions. For those three reasons we have absolutely LOVED it here. The office staff have been very helpful. The maintenance requests and repairs have likewise been fantastic. They are very quick to make repairs and are very positive about doing so. Furthermore, the amenities, including the pool and hot-tub which are open year round and the assigned, underground parking spot are great. One challenge we have experienced, though, is that the community is very young, which for a family, it is not necessarily ideal. However, for the most part the residents are respectful.

Good Location
A little on the expensive side, but a great location. We were new to Denver and were quite pleased to end up close to a big park, the Nature and Science Museum, the zoo, the Botanic gardens. It's close enough to commute by bicycle if you work downtown and several supermarkets are only a 5 to 10 minute drive away. On the downside, the walls are a little thin, but management worked with us to find a reasonable solution.

Retreat at the Park Apartments are perfect! They have the best location being just east of downtown next to City Park, great bars and eateries. The year round pool, hot tub and gas grills are nice too. With a good selection of rooms and a newer facility (2006) you will find what you want.

I lived her for almost 4 months now, and I have no complaints. Staff is very friendly, no noise complaints, I have an assigned parking spot so that makes life easier, maintenance is quick, my apartment is nice, I would like a better view but I can't change that. I take back my previous statements. Moving out.

It's good, I've had no problems, and the apartment I chose is fine
Pros: - Good location! Right next to the park, tons of food and I-25. - Clean - Repairs are handled quickly, never had to wait longer than 48 hours, except once on the weekend but they got to it first thing on Monday morning. And I've only had minor issues. - Great for working from home it's really quiet. - They have awesome monthly activities (They once filled a party bus with food and drinks and took everyone to the Rockies Game) - They allow all types of pets, I have a pretty big dog and was havning trouble finding places that allow pets over 50 lbs but this place let him in no problem Cons: - It's a little expensive, but you're gonna pay for the location. - Guest parking gets filled quickly. - One of the BBQ grills is touchy and doesn t work sometimes - There are only 3 people who work in the office, most days it s only 2 so it s kind of hard to get a hold of them. But once you do they do help you out contrary to what other people have said. - There isn t enough elevator space. Other: The most common age here seems to be 25 - 35. Staff has been friendly and good to work with. Overall, been a good place to live.

So far so good!!
I just recently moved in and found some of the comments quite funny. Thus far I have had nothing but good experiences with the office staff and maintenance staff alike. I did have a leak, which nobody could have predicted, upon moving in. The maintenance staff was fast and courteous in taking care of the situation! They were clean and left my apartment in the condition which should be expected...the same as when they entered. Management was amazing as well throughout the entire situation. They kept me informed of the progress of the repairs, and asked me if there was anything they could do for me! I have not experienced anything negative with any of the staff to date, everyone has been plesant and accomodating to my needs. I am sorry to hear that others have not had the same experience as me...makes you wonder about the validity of these sites huh' One person's castle can be another person's shack, it's all in the way you look at things

Worst. Apartment. Ever.
I moved cross country to Denver and thought Retreat at the Park would be perfect for me. Close to downtown for my job, next to City Park, close to bus routes, etc. It was nice...until people moved in around me. Someone moved in above my place that decided to play loud music and watch TV on max volume at all hours. I had called Security three times and filed noise complaints independently of the Security team to management. Nothing ever happened. On first glance the apartments are nice, but everything is cheap. Caulking on the counter tops started to come away from the drywall. There was no paint on the undersides of window sills. The front doors could be opened with a swift kick as they are made out of cheap wood. Walls are paper thin and ducts carry noise. Elevators stopped working on occasion - didn't bother me too much, I took the stairs. It was nice to have assigned parking, but the person next to me smashed his truck door into my car and when I went to the leasing office, they told me they could do nothing. They wouldn't give me the person's name or even deliver a letter so I could contact them to exchange insurance info. The management was not very friendly and I never felt welcome there. It was like when I went into the office, I was inconveniencing them to get my package for me, or check into a maintenance request (which never happened). Beware utility expenses. I never once turned my AC on, kept my heat at 67 in the winter and rarely used my dishwasher and still paid a lot. I decided to move out six months before my lease was up because I just could not take it anymore there. I paid an arm and a leg to do so, but it was worth it. Retreat at the Park was the worst apartment I have ever been in. My crappy college studio apartment was way better than this place. Stay away.

DO NOT Rent Here
CAUTION #1: Bad customer service. CAUTION #2: False advertising practices. CAUTION #3: The leasing agents aren t very knowledgeable. They don t know a lot of the answers to general apartment questions. CAUTION #4: Legal agreements don t mean anything. There word also doesn t mean anything. CAUTION #5: Management doesn t practice good customer service or properly train their staff. We had a horrible experience working with the leasing agents and management at Retreat at the Park. You will want to read this before thinking about signing a lease at the Retreat at the Park. First, we called the leasing office at Retreat at the Park and were told that the apartment layout we were interested in would be available on the date we were interested in. Then, we were told the cost of the apartment and agreed that we would go look at the apartment in person. When we showed up at the leasing office, the person we made the appointment with wasn t there (she guaranteed that she would be there for our appointment, by saying, I look forward to seeing you on Friday. ), so we were given to another agent. Caution #1: Bad customer service. After going over what we were looking for, for the second time, with the new agent, we were ready to tour the complex and talk more specifically about numbers. After touring the complex, we mentioned to the agent that we saw an ad on the internet for the apartment we were looking at and it was less than what the agent was going to give us. The agent didn t know what ads the Retreat had on this specific classified Web site, so the agent asked us to bring in the ad and he would honor it. Most of the ads, for Retreat at the Park on the site were titled, 2 bd/2ba $1,400/mo, but when you clicked on the ad, it was really advertising a 1 bd/1ba. Caution #2: False advertising. Next, the leasing agent quoted us a monthly rent we were comfortable with (although we were still hoping to get $100 off per month with the ad we had to bring in) and given a move-in day. The leasing agent typed up a new resident agreement, listing the monthly rent payment, lease terms and various concessions. We signed off on the agreement, along with the leasing agent and put a $200 hold on the apartment. Since we still had quite a few unanswered questions (i.e., TV satellite policy, short term lease policy, etc.), we had to make a third appointment to speak to the property manager because she wasn t there the first two times we visited the property. Caution #3: The leasing agents aren t very knowledgeable. When we visited the property for the third time, we were finally able to talk to the manager. Once we sat down with manager and she looked at our file, she told us that the leasing agent made a mistake and she could no longer honor the terms listed in the new resident agreement her leasing agent signed. We were in shock and irate that after all of the time we spent looking at the property and talking to the leasing agents, everything we talked about and signed off on had drastically changed. The monthly rent increased by $200/mo., the required move-in date changed to two weeks earlier, the number of parking spots decreased and the manager said that she would not honor the ad we found on the internet. The manager continued to tell us that the ad would only be honored for the specific day it was listed. This was surprising to me since the ad was listed for over six days. Caution #4: Legal agreements don t mean anything. The manager wouldn t honor the document her staff signed, wouldn t apologize for her staffs mistakes, taken at our financial expense and didn t apologize for all of our time that was wasted by her illegitimate staff. She basically said, take it or leave it (to the new terms presented to us that day), but I cannot honor the new resident agreement you and my leasing agent signed. FYI any signed document that outlines terms that have been agreed upon by two parties is a legal document. Caution #5: Management doesn t practice good customer service or properly train their staff.

Lived in Europe, Australia, and in the U.S - This is the worst Apt by far....
The management and the owners of the Retreat only have a GED education and were never well-informed in etiquette. They are all only about the money and not the people; which makes no sense giving attitude toward the renters; when we help write their checks. Please look else where; unless you like unnecessary drama from people who act like their in High School.....

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE Place to Live - NOT RECOMMENDED
I have lived in many different apartments, and this place is by far the worst ever. The Company inevitably will nickel and dime you to death. I gave 60 days notice on April 1st after business hours, and I was informed that I would have to pay 15 extra days worth of rent (over $550) because it was not received on the first, even though it was over 60 days before my move-out date. Not to mention the most unfriendly staff I've ever dealt with. The saying "The customer is always right" is NOT the philosphy they live by, its more like "Lets get every penny we possibly can out our hard-working tenants and leave them pissed off and broke. Please take my work for it, The Retreat at the Park SUCKS!!!

Management sucks and you WILL loose valuables
After coming home to find out that my camera and jewelry are stolen, I went to the management office to complain. Apparently "these things just happen", well it SHOULDNT! It is my apt and no one should be going through my personal property. Not only this happenned to me, but I know of FOUR other residents with the same problem! Missing cameras, cash, gold jewelry...you name it. And the main office has done NOTHING about it! NADA! Yes, having a pool is nice in the summer. Thats about it! Rent here is overpriced, management is rude, maintenance staff steals, the list goes on and on. Have fun if you just signed a lease here! I feel sorry for you :(

Someone finally said it!
Thank god. I didnt have enough nerve to say it for fear of repercussions, but Candy the manager, is horrible. She has made me feel insignificant several times when trying to raise concerns with her. I have also had the strong smell of urine in my hall, and when complaining to her, she brushes me aside. Im also very tired of the dog feces everywhere. If residents aren't cleaning up after their dogs, the cleaning/maintenance crews needs to address it. Most importantly, after having to deal with the office manager, I can honestly say I'll never rent here again.

Manager is condescending, urine smells everywhere, do not rent here.
I have had many issues with the management, many of them very simple to fix such as; cleaning up animal waste, making sure the doors are secure and closed, lighting the streets, keeping the main hall ways urine free (this place does smell like a zoo most of the time) and well lit (usually dangerously dark in hallways). When I have addressed the manager Candy , she belittles me and cuts what was a civil conversation short as I am not important enough to address. I have given up and look forward to leaving as soon as I can. This place is a health hazard (both physically and mentally).

Moving out to save $$$
I moved in last year and really like the convenience to work and downtown. Winter was fine, great snow removal etc. The summer months and continuing into fall the noise level continues to go up to the point it I can easily hear the music and parties from the neighbors. There is running in the hallways and lots of yelling and laughing when people come home from the bars. It appears there are some steady tenants and the rest are a revolving door of 20-somethings who treat the place like a college dorm. Many of the pet owners are just gross and inconsiderate when the pet has an "accident" they just leave it there! That is not the managements fault by any means and they have sent notices about it repeatedly. Even given the noise and the pet issues, the neighborhood and convenience would have kept me here. Here is the reason why I am leaving- My rent was raised significantly and I can look on rent.com and other sites and see my same type unit being advertised for less than I am paying now. When I submitted my notice that I was moving, no one contacted me at all to discuss why I was leaving etc. Sorry to loose the convenience but will be saving $$$
