I'm reading the most recent review on here, and couldn't disagree more. For one, the staff is very helpful and friendly. I'm home sick today with some sort of stomach virus, and the property manager Tim just brought me a Sprite to my apartment without hesitation. I also have a dog and left her in the bedroom when I was at work during these inspection hours. I simply left a note on the bedroom door, and they were completely cool with it. I happened to be home when they did stop by, and it took about 10 seconds. And they were very friendly to my dog! I love this location, especially for pet lovers. We can walk across the street and take her for a walk in City Park every day. Can't wait for Jazz in the Park this summer, too! I lived in Capitol Hill for a few years, and trust me, this isn't the most dangerous part of town. I love being able to walk our dog at night without homeless people everywhere. The apartments are nice, we have zero noise issues which is a miracle in an apartment complex, maintenance is quick to respond and a really nice supervisor Greg, parking is relatively cheap compared to the rest of Denver (believe me, we looked everywhere). To top it all off, Shaunie and Amanda have answered my numerous questions without losing patienceâ??not as easy as it sounds.

New owners are turning retreat at the park into an unprofessional and inconsiderate establishment that doesn't treat the renters with any respect. They asked during a two day window to enter all of the apartments to "contain or remove" our pets. They failed to provide a window of time for this inspection, say 9-12 etc. In addition, they gave us 72 hrs notice starting on a saturday when obviously the new owners had much more notice as about 8 of them were gathered with boxes of files in the party room. There are so many nicer buildings --- look at this old/small gym for example --- in denver. And this location is really in the dangerous section of town.

So sad to leave! Wish my job weren't transferring me to Texas otherwise I would have stayed. The location is unbeatable and the staff is amazing, very helpful and knowledgeable. Twice my apartment flooded and the maintenance team was on it immediately. I've lived in places before where they take days to get to you for that stuff, even a light bulb. These guys were very communicative with me each time and very prompt in attending to the matter. The noise is not bad here either, I could hardly ever hear my neighbors, maybe once when they got a new couch but nothing other than that. This isn't a party central, but it's close enough to downtown so that if you like that kind of stuff, you have easy access to it! My dog also LOVED it here!! He's going to miss everyone in the office, they were so lovable to him whenever we would come in for a package. We were so close to the park and there are so many dog-friendly restaurants around here too. Seriously I would buy a place here if they sold it. All those flashy new downtown properties are probably build like crap because they keep popping up so damn fast. You honestly couldn't find a better place, and I searched a LONG time before I found Retreat at the Park! I'm so happy I didn't settle for anywhere else. We will miss you, but if we ever get to move to Denver again I know where I'll be living!!

Just wanted to say thanks for everything you guys have done for us over the years. Really sad to leave but are excited for the new adventure. This place was our home for three years and we have loved everything about it. Good people, great part of town, and the pool was nice. We would recommend it to anyone new moving into Denver.

I can't say enough about the staff. The leasing office has accommodated me on more than one occasion for unusual circumstances or requests. They are always friendly, understanding, and cooperative with meeting my needs. The maintenance department is responsive and thorough with repairs. I'm currently going through a transfer from a 1-bdrm to a 2-bdrm and they're offering me a break on the fee/rent to help make it happen. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

Pros: 1. PERFECT location - close to park, restaurants, bars, bus routes. 2.Nice pool/hot tub access 3. Gated/covered parking included in rent. Cons: 1. Loud upstairs neighbors - I can hear every step they take, the dog's nails scratching on the slate, toilet lid slamming and water running through the walls, etc. It sounds like they are moving heavy furniture back and forth all day but when I ask them, they say they're not doing anything. (??) Once, my entryway light fixture fell out of the ceiling and smashed into a thousand pieces after a particularly "stompy" episode. I have lodged complaints at the office, with the night security, and via the building's quarterly surveys to no effect. If noise bothers you, DO NOT rent here. 2. Expensive - we pay a portion of the utilities along with the rent and it's gone up 2x since June 2012. 3. Hapless office staff - can't help with noise issue and don't even care. Complain to me that I leave my packages there too long but have truncated office hours that I can't be present for. Attitudes and service levels could be lots better. 4. Public areas reek of dog urine - there are a LOT of dogs here due to their permissive pet policy. No biggie except for the fact that the dogs all go right outside the doorway and all along the sidewalk in all directions. It SMELLS. And it's worse in the heat of summer. You can hear any barking from the apartments throughout the hallways and you can hear people taking their dogs in and out all the time. 5. ALSO - I found another place about 2 weeks early and even though they'll have the apartment available for another renter, they're going to leave it empty for the remainder of my lease (till June 1), since I'm paid up. There is no consideration for your personal situation.

I am surprised to see all of these negative reviews, I strongly disagree with most of them. I have lived at retreat for almost a year, and I have nothing but good things to say about the management staff, maintenance staff, community, and convenience of Retreat at the Park. Retreat has an ideal location across from the park, but it also has proximity to routes out of the city in all directions, yet the area is quiet. Parking round retreat is a cake-walk compared to other areas this close to the city's amenities, and this is if you decide not to use the spot allotted to you as part of your lease. The pool is always clean and warm not to mention a great way to socialize with your neighbors. At move in, my apartment was clean and everything functioned flawlessly, and the community areas had the same distinction. Since then the complex has re-painted, re-landscaped, and re-carpeted the hallways. I can't say enough about this community, I love living here, and again, I am really surprised by the negative reviews.

Overall, this apartment community is beautiful and in a beautiful location. That being said, this is the most incompetent leasing staff I have ever encountered, save for ------ who is wonderful. Upon move in, --- would not let me look over my lease until move-in day, which, legally, he must let me see before I sign it. Furthermore, he failed to respond to questions and left crucial information hidden until he eventually showed me the lease. The move out fee is absurd (mine will be close to $3,000 if I ever need to move) and, in my opinion, this place is not worth it.

Very glad I moved here, great location being next to the park and very easy to navigate to anywhere around town. Have made it through the winter now and was impressed how quickly they were on top of removing all the snow we had this year. Having covered parking was a real time saver too. The additional storage is great if youre a gear junky, oh and the heated pool has been a muscle saver after a full day on the mountain! Overall the staff has been very friendly, Tim and Ryan were very straight forward with everything, I haven't experienced any unexpected fines or fees, unlike my last place. This will probably be the last apartment I have before buying a house, just wish it was my first too. Definitley check it out!

The Good: The apartments are relatively nice. The area is nice. The grounds are safe. The outdoor areas are well kept. Gated parking. There are nice people in the management office. I liked the maintenance staff, I found them friendly and very responsive. The Bad: Thankfully the old assistant manage is no longer there. She had absolutely no sense of customer service, and I often found her attitude to be flippant and rude when I came to pick up packages from the front office. Like she had better things to do than help me. They are more concerned about getting you into an apartment than you being satisfied once you move in. Also be ready a HUGE bill upon move out. I have always gotten my deposit back upon move out. This was a completely different story and was echoed by our neighbors as well. Neither of us left Retreat with our deposits and I even ended up owing them money. I was charged for things we didn't even use--new blinds in all rooms (including in a bedroom that was only used for guests), new toilet seats in both bathrooms, new carpet in every room in the apartment, although they only provided us pictures indicating that one room needed carpet replaced. The final bill was over $1300. The move-out experience was so bad and so expensive, we decided never to rent from a corporate run apartment complex again.

I have lived at the Retreat for almost 5 years, and recently had to move. There was a misunderstanding with the situation, and ---------- (the manager) was extremely helpful to me during a very disruptive time. He manages the Retreat very well, and I would recommend the Retreat as a great place to live. The noise is minimal, and the maintenance staff are very helpful as well. Thanks again --- for everything. You give apartment properties a good name.

Need More for the money!
What you pay here you should get a better looking place and free lunches or dinners as you can get a town-home for the prices here. Lower prices and get rid of the noise around the pool and hallways with better of office team.

Just a touch pricey - Nice place, though
For what you pay, the interiors could have just a bit nicer finish than laminate cabinets and linelouem in the bathroom. Nonetheless, what you have here is a well-kept property with great features. Big year-round pool/hot tub, a community space with free coffee, secured parking, etc. The apartments aren't huge unless you opt for a more top-end one, but I think they all have balconies with adequate space for the morning coffee. Maintenance has been great every time I've dealt with them and management is always friendly and holds on to your packages for you. The buildings are seemingly full of young professionals who are reasonably respectful (EXCEPT YOU, UPSTAIRS NEIGHBORS!) I wouldn't attempt to break a lease here, or anywhere really as it'll cost you. Be prepared for the dog deposit ($500, $200 refundable). All in all, I am happy.

Awesome place to live!!
I lived at the apartments for a year and 8 months. I never had any issues dealing with the staff (management team). They are incredibly professional and super friendly. They hosted events to get the community together. The year around pool was also a great perk. I saw my neighbor occasionally and they were all friendly. There is plenty of parking available and is close to all that downtown Denver has to offer. Overall, was a great play to live and play.

Pretty nice little place
I moved out a few weeks ago and gotta say that Retreat at the Park was pretty decent. I never really had any major issues. Staff was cool, any maintenance was taken care of in a couple days, the location is excellent, and most of my neighbors were pretty cool. I didn't really use the pool much but went once in the winter and it was pretty relaxing. It is pretty expensive, the walls are a bit thin but so has every place I've lived in. I've always thought the halls and the grass was ok but it does suck when people don't clean up their mess. They have a lot of dog bag places but not too much green space. (except that big park across the street) I've recommended this place to friends and will continue to. There are some bad review on here but it seems like people in general mostly post a review if they had a bad experience with something in general.

A Fair Review
So, I have lived at Retreat at the Park now for almost two and a half years. Is it the best place I've ever lived? Certainly not, and that includes five years of military duty and living in crap hole military barracks. However, I'd like to respond to the scathing response to the previous post. First, they absolutely gave tenants Starbucks gift cards for positive reviews. I would suggest doing your homework first before you rant like a crazy person and call the original reviewer a liar. Maybe you didn't live here at the time or you just didn't pay attention to the signs in the elevator. Second, I have lived in two different buildings and you absolutely, without a doubt, can hear the conversations of the neighbors next door to you. I used to hear the guy next door on the phone and could tell you whether the conversation was with his girlfriend or just a friend. I do not think he was speaking loudly, but if two bedrooms are next to each other and your beds share the same wall, be prepared to hear whatever happens there. How did I resolve it? I moved my bed away from that wall and only heard him every once in a while rather than every night. Third, I have never heard of drug deals or crimes happening on the property. Honestly, there's not much property to begin with so I highly doubt heavy crimes are occuring. I will say that I have complained about the garage doors being left open for weeks. When I first moved in they had postings about apartments being broken into. Clearly, they have not learned that leaving open access to your building might have something to do with it. Have I had issues with the apartment? Of course, no place is perfect. I haven't had hot water in my shower for months and have had maintenance there multiple times. Their suggestion was to replace the whole hot water unit, which of course is not going to happen. I boil water just so I can take a bath. Seriously, that's not an exaggeration. Is it too pricey for me? Absolutely. I will be leaving after a $300 increase to my rent. There is no way my one bedroom apartment is worth $1500 a month. It is a great location, but at this stage in my life it's not worth the price and I'm buying a house rather than lining someone else's pocket with rental income. The building, with it's close proximity to downtown, lures a younger generation. The pool area is usually crowded, but most people there are respectful. Just not my style of living now and I'm only in my mid-thirties. I've been out of college for a long time and no longer feel the need to relive my glory days boozing away my afternoons. They now have social events every other month, vice every month, but they are still fun and it really helps you to get to know your neighbors and the staff. Plus, they always give away free stuff. Go to the Christmas Party! It was a blast. I have never had a problem with the office. Melissa is always helpful and I've seen her remember every tenants' name that walks through the door. The rest of the staff is pretty nice, with one exception, but I think that's his personality so I don't take it personally. Overall, I've been happy with my stay here. If you're not happy then leave when your lease is up. That's exactly what I'm doing and I don't need to get all worked up and be profane about it. My suggestion to future renters, do your research. Talk to people that live in the building. Someone else's issue may not matter to you. Weigh your pros and cons and make an informed decision.

Retreat BRIBED residents for positive reviews! Do not rent here!
Retreat BRIBED residents to leave positive reviews on this website with Starbucks gift cards!!!!! Any place that needs to bribe their tenants should be carefully considered. Retreat started out ok to work with, however, greatly diminished during my stay. The staff is completely unprofessional. I have personally overheard management attempt to barter gossip from tenants in order for work repairs to be received. Specifically, who was sleeping with who and extra-marital affairs. Additionally, staff often complain about their own personal lives and woes, in addition to their own issues with Michelson Realty. Be wary of the walk through process at the end of the lease. Management will state everything is ok, when in fact, they fully intend on billing for erroneous charges. For instance, $65 to replace poorly constructed blinds, $250 to clean a spotless bathroom, and ridiculous costs to replace previously stained carpets. The walls are very thin and noise complaints are never resolved by after hours security (who is a very elderly gentleman), resulting in numerous police complaints. Due to the lack of security, there are drug deals that take place on the grounds, in between buildings, that management will not address, stating it was not their responsibility. The safety of the tenants is also not a concern. ------- had ordered for the concrete floors to be refinished and the company she hired did not follow health regulations, resulting in the Chief of the Fire Department (FD) for Denver ordering a cease and desist. Additionally, the EPA and FD had to ventilate and remove residents who were trapped in their apartments due to the poisonous materials on the floors. How is ------- still managing this complex? Perhaps nepotism is at work in this organization. As a female, I have been appalled by the maintenance staff. The ever-revolving staff that are hired have repeatedly made sexual advances not only on myself, but other females on the property. Not only are these men disgusting, but for the most part completely incompetent and repairs often require multiple service calls. Additionally, the water heaters were improperly installed, causing flooding of other units. Retreat refuses to take responsibility for their error, leaving the renter responsible for all damages. Overall, the management is rude, unwilling to admit when they are in the wrong, and not helpful for their tenants.

Negative reviews are due to deposits
Incredible. My wife and I are trying to convince a friend to move in. He remarks about the "negative reviews" and is concerned. We read them together and we are both pissed that such reviews are allowed to be published. We did our research with a few neighbors and found out the following: Nearly every negative review was put out there by SMOKERS. Yup, people that smoked in their apartment and stunk the place up to the point the carpet had to be replaced and every inch of the walls and ceiling had to be repainted. They lost their deposits and for excellent reason. Shame, this place is NOT perfect but it is extremely upscale and the grounds are well maintained. The staff is attentive and the location is excellent. We have rented the "Common room" and "Poker Room" on many occasions. Our friends and family visit often and the comments and opinions are always, always positive. Please be skeptical of all reviews, we all know that the negative reviews are most often placed by frustrated and warped individuals that don't get their way.

Great place to live
Whoever said that this place is a "crappy area" obviously hasn't been to the BAD areas of Denver. Go move to Cherry Creek with those snobs, if you think this area is bad... Management is always willing to help when I've had comments or concerns, all you have to do is bring up the subject if you have an issue instead of complain about it on the internet. I agree about the dog poop in the hallways, but thats a sign of bad pet owners not bad property management. Its kind of pathetic these people can't pick up their dog poop when their going inside their own apartment complex. I've only noticed the poop on Sundays (when the cleaning staff is off work and the residents are hungover from the night before and can't bother to let their dogs out in time)All in all I think its a great area to live in! Its about a 5 minute drive from downtown, right across from city park and has beautiful ammenities. Plus its right next to the Pinnacle, (sorry but those people aren't paying bank to live in a crap area). I had a pipe burst in the middle of the night and the guy got there within ten minutes and fixed it right away. The next day management was really nice about it. Parking is a total bonus btw.

Do not rent here!
I signed a year lease here and went month to month thereafter with a very hefty increase. Upon moving out Melissa the manager did a walk through of my apartment and mentioned nothing about the carpet which was left clean. Imagine my shock to get a 700$ carpet replacement bill for carpetting that was left spotless! Not a word was mentioned about the carpet during the walk through! Beware of management here and don't believe them. The dog feces left in interior hallways near my entrance door was an added plus. Don't take an apartment near the pool if you want to sleep.

DO NOT LIVE HERE
This complex is not in a good area of town and is wayyy overpriced for the quality of the interior. It seems like everything was done as cheaply as possible. The management is completely AWFUL and unhelpful. All they care about it renting their units and they will tell you anything to make that happen. When I had a problem with my apartment, they made me feel stupid for even bringing it up and basically told me to get over it. The hallways always STINK like garbage. When I moved in there were about 5 things in my apartment that needed immediate attention. They say there's granite counter tops, but only one segment in the kitchen actually has them- the rest are cheap plastic-like material. When I take my dishes out of the dishwasher there is more crap on them than when I put them in, their "professional painters" are completely sloppy with their work- there's paint all over the doors, on baseboards, light switches. There is dog poop left on the stairs. Gross. When a toilet flushes above me it sounds like a monsoon is going to come through my ceiling and has woke me up from a dead sleep. I smell people smoking when I'm in my bedroom and bathroom. I could go on and on.. don't waste your time looking here. There are SO many other places where you can spend the same if not less money for better quality living.

My roommate and I moved into Retreat at the Park in the summer of 2009, attracted by the great location and amenities, and stayed for one year. As the end of our lease approached we were told rent would be raised but management staff was unable to tell us what the new price would be until after the date had passed for us to give notice. This brings up our main criticism of the complex: the staff in the management office is very nice but completely disorganized and more often than not, will be unable to help you. They seem to have very specialized functions with no general knowledge or consensus on very basic protocols. Therefore you will get a different answer depending on who you talk to. They don t communicate with one another so even if you confirm something with one person you will probably get calls for two or three others asking you the exact same thing. We found this part of the experience of living at Retreat at the Park to be the most upsetting and unreasonable and at the end of the day this is what made us decide to leave. Some of the other things that we wish we d known when we moved in: like many newly constructed apartment buildings, there was more of an emphasis put on aesthetics than quality materials. We had recurring problems with the microwave going on the fritz and found that some of the finishing on cabinets was poorly done. Luckily, the maintenance staff is super nice and responsive. We also found that the exposed duct work, while a neat design feature, also made it nearly impossible to hold a conversation or watch TV at normal volumes; we constantly had to adjust based on whether it was blowing air or not. Another weird thing: due to the way the heating/cooling units were installed residents can either have the unit completely off, or set to a temperature of 70 degrees. We found that if we went even one degree either direction we would get rusty water leaking from the ceiling in the bathrooms, and this is something that the apartment complex was apparently helpless to fix. We found our neighbors to be friendly, and quiet while in their homes. However, we did have an interior facing unit overlooking the pool and can confirm other reviewers experiences of how loud it gets on nice days throughout the year. We also found there to be an echoing effect with air conditioning units during the summer months that was bothersome. The bottom line: every apartment complex has its drawbacks, and Retreat at the Park wasn t an entirely bad experience for us. We re only walking away with a bad taste in our mouths because of the way business is handled lesson learned, it is easy to dismiss the value of good quality management until you have an important issue that needs to be dealt with and then you really want to have people who are credible, informed, and trustworthy at your disposal. You will not find that at Retreat at the Park.

A Definite Retreat
I was in the midst of a marital crisis, I have found only security and comfort in living at the Retreat. My sixteen year old son and I were able to get a six month lease and move in within two days of signing. It's a very comfortable one-bedroom with lots of amenities, like covered parking, athletic center, billards/large screen tv, heated pool/hottub. It has been well maintained, the landscape is filled with summer flowers and benches to sit and enjoy the outdoors. I find the staff friendly and open to suggestions. In addition, the apartment is in walking distance to the bus stop, multiple restaurants/bars, close to downtown and the best City Park you can imagine. This has been a real retreat for me.

Pretty good place in my opinion. Location is sweet. Great places in walking distance. I like the pool, staff and my big ole apartment. A little expensive, but ya get what ya pay for! It would be nice if people picked up after there pets a little more but it seems to get cleaned up.
