Nice Location, Horrible Place to live
While they will probably lure you in with a good price, they will screw you when it comes time to renew. I've spoken with my neighbors and it happens to everyone. As mentioned by others, the management is horrendous. Dont expect anything besides the bare minimum. Walls are thin as paper...you will hear everything that happens at your neighbors' property. RUN while you can!

Nice Place, Good Maintenance Staff, Horrible Office Staff
This place is pretty nice. The grounds are kept in good shape and the Maintenance staff takes care of your problems quickly. The apartments are acceptable for the price. Only problem is the horrible office staff. Anytime your have a problem they hide behind Equity Residential's corporate banner. IE: look at the small print, its all in there! Call the corporate office in Chicago if you have a problem; We don't care! This makes living here very difficult if you happen to run into any problems. Just expect major fighting and difficulty if you ever have to dispute anything.

DO NOT LIVE HERE
This place is awful. Honestly, it is WAY too expensive for what you get. The gym is tiny, the pool is always crowded with loud small children, no one cleans up their dog's ----, and finally the people that work there are mentally incapable of doing a good job. They are, however, excellent liars. Do not rent with equity, you can find MUCH better in Denver for cheaper. It is an old building so for a one year lease, I had around 20 maintenance problems, one being my windows were broken and had frozen over in the winter, including the INSIDE of the window. Trash, Sewage and Water fees add another 25 - 50 bucks on top of your rent and increase every month. DO NOT LIVE HERE! Parking sucks because you step in dog ---- and motorcyclists take up all the spots so you are forced to park on sketchy Dexter Street.

Great for one year, and that's about it
After the first year they try to bend you over with the renewal rates they offer. It is a joke. I tell anyone who wants to live here that it is good for the first year, but then they try to screw you after one year. Seriously, it is unbelievable, they reel you in with cheap prices at first and then they try to charge you downtown prices after one year. They say that there is nothing they can do about the prices, and that it is up to Equity's headquarters in Chicago. I don't get it, you would think that they would want you to stay, but instead Equity Residential is just like your run-of-the-mill slumlord...it really bothers me. When I moved in here, this apartment complex had an ApartmentRatings rating of almost 60%, and now it is down to 20%...one would think they would want to do something about this, but I guess The Sonata really does not care. And don't even get me started on the noise...on one side I have a couple who argues all the time, and on the other side I have a creepy guy who I can hear masterbating/farting/snoring/coughing...anything that you can think of, I hear the guy doing. Do yourself a favor and look to live elsewhere

They will rip you off!!!
I have lived in the Sonata for over a year. At first we had no major problems, until it came time to renew our lease. They tried to raise our rent by almost $100, even though our very same apartment was being advertised online for the exact same price as what we were currently paying as part of our original lease. We tried to fight it, but they still ended up raising it $35, which made our rent $35 MORE EXPENSIVE for us to resign our lease than it would be for a new resident walking in off the street. Moreover, during the process of negotiating the rent I caught them in multilple lies and at one point the leasing agent basically told us that they can do whatever they want to their residents because the economy is bad and therefore people can't buy and have to rent. On a separate ocassion I submitted my rent online and their system screwed up and told me the payment had been processed when in actuality it hadnt been processed. When the money didnt come out of my checking account I called their office to verify that it had gone through. They charged me $60 for being one day late when it was THEIR FAULT!! If you dont mind living in a very corporate run apartment complex that will try to steal from you every chance they get, then live at the Sonata!!

Read First! Here to help!
Although I only lived at the Crescent for one year, I only had one problem with it. (I transfered universities) My garage door would not close, and it was promptly fixed. It is true from the other comments that you will hear your upstairs neighbors, but only if they are dropping things, stomping around, playing with their dogs, loud activities... The living conditions always seemed safe to me, which is the most important. I was always able to find a parking space close to my unit, no matter what time of day. I rarely heard any parties or loud music, and it was especially quiet throughout the day. I was a student in the area, and this was great for getting work done. The staff was great for me, and always courteous. They seemed to work well together. The few problems I had were fixed promptly, just be honest with them and they will help you out. The model property they show you is how your apartment will be structured. In my opinion it is a basic foundation (other reviews will tell you different), not cheap or extremely expensive. Please ignore any recent opinions that will sway you from this property. I am being honest with my review, and taking the time to write because there are so many places on this website with horrible reviews. I wish I could have moved this property with me as well! Best of luck, and I hope you will consider this property.

Filthy, Loud, Poorly Build, Bad Management
From the day I moved in I couldn't wait to move out. I signed a lease sight unseen moving from across the country for a temporary stay... big mistake! From the street, it looks OK but after living here I can't agree more with the other reviewers who gave this property 1 star. The outside grounds are the worst and are so poorly kept up partly due to no regulations on where dogs are allowed to relieve themselves so the entire property area just smells terrible, ESPECIALLY after it rains. Many dog owners don't pick up after their dogs either so basically, there is poop all over. The noise is awful - I can hear everything my neighbors are up to - it feels like no privacy - side walls, across the hall, and upstairs. By far the nosiest apartment I have ever lived in, even in college. The inside feels dirty even though it was recentely "redecorated" there are COUNTLESS problems with the new fixtures and appliances not properly installed.

okay, but cheaply built
I lived here for a year. Most of the staff were nice and I really liked the maintenance crew. The only problem I had living here (and it was a BIG problem) was the noise thumping from the upstairs tenants. You can hear everything they do upstairs -walking, cleaning, dogs playing, constant thumping. I've lived in many other apts before and this is the cheapest construction I've come across. I've not had any problems with noise outside the property (dogs barking, people partying) so I'm happy with that. I suggest you rent a top floor apt, away from the main gates that crash closed. Overall, I'm content with the community but I'm not sure I would recommend it to a friend.

Awful!
This is a poorly run property. They will try to rip you off every chance they get, make sure you double check your invoices. Their maintenance team is horrendous and the ground are poorly maintained.

Very quiet!
I lived there for a year and it was very quiet. Lots of people walking their dogs so I was surprised to never hear insane barking ever. The staff members were so friendly and I loved living there honestly. Sadly, I just couldn't a ford it any more. Rent was a little crazy, but then again its the cheap for cherry creek and the fact you live next to so much great places. Target, Home Depot, whole foods all within walking distance. And as a young female I felt safe walking around the complex at night because of the gate. There was even a park where you could just walk outside the gates and watch the fire works for 4th of july! You didnt need to drive anywhere just look outside for a great view!

Loved it!
I lived there for 2 years and wouldn't have left if I hadn't moved in with the boyfriend. Pretty quiet, clean, newer, GREAT location, nice amenities in the apts and in the club house. Trish in the front office is the best. Any maintenance issues I had were handled efficiently as well. Loved it!

Stay away!!!!
My experience was awful. The roof in my bedroom leaked. It finally fell in this year and I had to threaten them with a lawyer to get it repaired. they neve cleaned up the mess in the floor. They had my expensive sports car towed. I don't drive it during the winter months since it is terrible in the snow. over $500 later I got my car back. The removed the parking permit when it was towed and claimed it didn[t have one. The staff is only interested in you when they want you to renew(your money). The manager stays in her little office and writes memos that she has her little minions hang on your door telling you what her rules are. The walls are thin. you could her the baby in the next apartment. They have signs on the building which may shine in your window at night. It keeps it nice and bright all night long. The garage is so small you have to squeeze a very small car into it. If you have an SUV forget parking in a garage, it's too small. Parking is miserable. If you are lucky enought to have a place close to the road then street parking is sometimes available but forget about having a space for your car near your apt. And if you have an apartment near the street then you have to deal with the street noise. The gates are broke half the time, so if it looks like a safe gated community then that is only the days when they happen to work. the place is noisey and just overpriced. Try the complex across the creek for better quality. I hate moving but finally got fed up with the place.

We've lived here for a year, just renewed. We really love it. The apartment is beautiful, and the price is good. We've had a few maintenance issues, not out of the ordinary, and they are dealt with well. Management is helpful.

Great place to live!!
I have lived here for four years and have just moved out because I got transfered accross town. I am sad to leave my home because I have had a wonderful experience. The community is clean and well maintained. The pool is always clean and so is the weight room. The office staff are courious, knowledgable and helpful. I only had a couple maitinence issues (leaky faucet, sticky lock, clogged garbage disposal) and they were all fixed incredibly fast. The prices are reasonable and the neighborhood is good. I highly recommend this apartment complex!

GREAT Place to Live
I lived at the Crescent for a little over a year and I LOVED it. It was nice, quiet and they accepted my large dog. The office staff was always courteous; maintenance was done the next day. I never heard my neighbors, the grounds were always clean and well maintained. I would move back there if I ever needed an apartment again. Parking is at a premium so I would recommend a garage; it is worth the extra money for sure!

Renewing my lease :)
I have lived at the Sonata for 2 years and plan to sign for another year. I have enjoyed my time at the Sonata. I am not aware of any leaks and my apartment unit seems to be built very well. I have had a few maintenance requests but with minor things like light bulbs being out, or my garbage disposal not working and the staff has always had it fixed in a timely manner.

not worth the price of rent
I lived at the Sonata for four months (on a short-term lease). The property itself isn't very old, but the construction and quality of the buildings is very poor -- you can tell it was cheaply-made. It has gated parking, but the gates usually don't work, which caused people without permits to park in resident parking, and snow removal was HORRIBLE after all of the snow this past year!

The office staff is adequate, and maintenance staff was great, and I can't really complain about this place other than that I don't see why it's considered a 'luxury' property when the buildings are so cheaply-made and offer cheap, bottom-of-the-line appliances.

With that said, I wouldn't recommend this place based on the price of rent.

snotty, I call it the Snobnata at Cherry Creek
If you want to be a “want to be Yuppieâ€, and act like your better then everybody, not say hi to your neighbors, and live in a place called the Snobnata in the boring suburbs this place is for you. However, if you want a neighborly and friendly place, a neighborhood with character and style, not have security cameras follow your every move, and not have a yuppie gate surrounding your place, this is not a place for you. Parking? I tried to park in the parking lot, and could never get a place. I just ended up parking on the street, and had damage to my car. Garbage? You better follow their rules because if you put it out to early, or if your bag breaks, then you have a litter violation. They prorated me for the month of July when I moved in and I payed 200 some for 10 days, and my lease was from August 05-August 06. Then I find they want to take me to court for not paying another prorated price in August 06. This place is a snobby and stuck up place that will try to cheat you out.

Keep Looking
Great location, but noise is terrible. Maintenance is not good. Anytime something broke, maintenance did not get it fixed on the first visit. Most often, they would report that it was fixed on their first visit, but I found there were still problems and they had to come out a second time. Noise between apartments and in the courtyard is bad.

AWESOME!!!!
This place is a great place to live. I moved here from out of state and the office staff was great and really made me feel right at home. The maintenance staff was VERY responsive to all my needs, even helping carry heavy items into my apartment when I was moving in. There have been a few times that my job has required me to stay late, and the office staff has stayed open for me to renew my new lease. Also, when I wasn't able to make into the office during business hours to pick up my packages, they were willing to deliver my package to my apartment for me. Anytime I have a problem with noise or with my apartment, I always get a call back before the business day is over--great customer service. I think they have done a great job keeping the community clean and presentable. I will be a resident at this community for as long as I can be.

Going down hill
Don't rent here. This complex is made up of a lot of corporate apartments, and the staff has no interest in keeping current residents.

Walk around the property, and you will see VERY POOR maintenance. Things like sweeping or picking up trash -- non-existent. The dryers vent to the stairways, and you can see months of built up lint all over. Also check out the dumpsters -- usually overflowing with garbage on the outside.

The front office is INCREDIBLY unresponsive, not even returning phone calls unless you call several times. Though they have posted office hours, don't count on it; they close at whim, without notice, for several hours at a time, which makes package retrieval unpredictable and difficult.

The location is borderline; to the north, it's a nice neighborhood, to the south -- it's the bad part of town. Maybe this is why Equity, the managment company, has "given up" on this property and its maintenance.

Cars have been broken into (by throwing bricks into them), and the community mailbox broken into as well. The management, again, doesn't seem to care at all about improving safety or even walking through the property to ensure that things are okay.

This place is just plain old dirty, with an apathetic front office. If you need a corporate apartment, who cares? If you want a home, you're better off just about anywhere else.
