a complete turn around!!
When i first moved in i was an unhappy resident.... until this past October when Sunchase got smart and brought in a new Assistant Manager and Community Manager. Things are getting taken care, the office now has a friendly staff and its not a hassle when you contact the office. When i go to the office, they know me by first name (ive lived in a lot apartments and never had that)and always ask if everything is ok. I would and have recommended Sunchase and hope that whoever reads this, disregards previous entries and checks Sunchase out for themselves!

Seeing things thru...
Having lived here for 5 years, i have gone thru MANY office staff changes. With every change came a worse staff. In October, came a new assistant manager and she was very nice to me even though i came in the office screaming about incompleted maintenance issues. She took my complaints seriously and wrote down my issues and i thought they wouldnt get taken care of like previous times, imagine my surprise when i came home the next day and they were all completed and i even received a phone call from her making sure that i was happy with the service. Then came a new manger and she has had the gates fixed, and the grounds are looking great and when i sit out on my patio i have a fountain in my lake which really is quit nice. I want to give a round of applouse to the old and improved staff and the two new and only getting better additions.

A Place I Call Home>>>!
I´ve lived at Sunchase for almost a year now and am totally impressed! The staff is friendly and my maintenance calls are handled very well and to my satisfaction. I´ve recommended my friends and co-workers to live here too! With US 19 being so close, it only takes minutes to work and shopping. I love my spacious apartment and plan on living here for many years to come! My neighbor upstairs has lived here for almost 30 years! That was enough proof for me! =)

The office management team is a joke
Where to begin?! First off, I have never had a working dishwasher, and I ve been here almost a year now. All major appliances have broken including the a/c. Most notably though was the thermostat, that I was lucky enough to catch just getting home from work as it was short-circuiting and burning and melting the inner workings. I was literally minutes away from fire. They will claim to have "pest control," but I have never seen them. I have fumigated this apartment 3 times now myself for swarms and swarms of fire ants. I see the landscaping team out there mowing the dead, brown grass(weeds?) and can t help but yell out to them, "Sod!! Sod!! You need sod!!" There are 4 gates to this community: 2 entrances and 2 exits. The past 3 weeks were the first time since I ve lived here that all of them worked at once. Oh, no, wait...the south exit was broken the other day. Oh, well. And, last but not least, the most amazing service they "provide." They claim to offer package acceptance at the office when tenants are not available for receipt. I have had merchandise delivered via UPS and accepted by the office in my absence, only to be sent back the next day by their caring office staff without a word to me. When I confronted the office manager, Linda, on the subject, she was rude, condescending, and insulting to me, claiming I was a liar, and that they had no responsibility over items they accept from commercial shippers on behalf of their tenants. As it was a heavy item, obviously shipping was expensive (in excess of $75). Aside from her crude dismissal of my complaint, as you may guess, no financial compensation was rendered. Not only do I not recommend this complex to others, once my own lease is up, I am outa here...!!

They will tell you what you want to hear
This review is of my experience trying to rent there, I never did get an apartment.

Because I use a wheelchair, I called Sunchase on 2 separate occasions to make sure that they were wheelchair accessible. The fist call I made, they stated that they were accessible. The second time I called, I specifically asked if all the doors in the apartment were at least 29" or wider. They stated that they were and that they even measured them to make sure. When I arrived at the apartment to view it, there was a step up to get into the apartment and the bathroom doors were much narrower than 29". Sunchase had outright lied to me on the phone when I asked about accessibility. When I stated to them that I could not get through the doors, they responded that it was no big deal, and suggested that I just crawl into the bathrooms if my chair wouldn´t fit through the door. What a bunch of dumbasses there. They wasted half of my day and then they insult me
Saftey, Maintenance, & Customer Care
The apartment I rented in February 2002 was never even cleaned upon my move-in date, further more the leasing office constantly stated they would have someone over to clean but never followed through. Several things were broken & maintenance took their time fixing them. It always took several calls to the leasing office to resolve any maintenance problems. Security gates were broken 95% of the time I lived there & when they did work anyone could get in anyway. The workout facilities never worked while I lived there which was used as a selling point for renting at Sunchase. As stated in my lease pest control would be maintained monthly however not once did they enter my apartment to spray. The employees I worked with at the leasing office were not friendly, didn´t return phone calls, & misdocumented several of my complaints. My overall experience at Sunchase was unbearable. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Maintenance an Issue
While Sunchase has the largest apartments for the rent paid and also the convenience of Washer/Dryers in units, I felt that the maintenance was a big issue. On many occassions we asked for maintenance to be performed, and our attempts to get someone to come out were ignored. The lack of maintenance on a particular issue led to a much larger emergency maintenance issue that could have been avoided. A year has gone by and still the issue has not been resolved! Additionally, they closed the Fitness center for repairs in early September 2001 and didn´t reopen it until July 2002! Way too long to go without a functioning gym - one of the main ammenities we were looking forward to. Also on many occasions, we´ve noticed people not living at the apartments making use of the pool. Often they sneak onto the property uninvited. The gates are often in disrepair allowing for anyone to come on property. The apartments are directly off of Highway 19 and so they are noisy as well.

High crime area!
Although this is a gated access community, the so-called "security" gates and fences do little if anything at all to protect residents and their property. In the past 2 years that I have lived here, my car has been broken into and vandalized not once but twice. I know more than one other person here who has had their vehicle stolen out of the parking lot. The security gates are hardly ever functioning correctly-there are two entrance gates to the community, and if one is operational, chances are the other one is broken. The fences surrounding the community are continually being torn down by people attempting to get in--until recently, there was a section of the fence torn out that was so large, people were actually able to drive their cars through it instead of bothering with the gate. It is not uncommon to see drug deals occurring by the racquetball courts late in the evening, and there was also a rather recent shooting in the community, after which, management did not seem to take any further security measures to prevent further occurrences. they did publish the local police department´s phone number in the monthly newsletter, however) Aside from security concerns, management seems less than sympathetic towards the rather aggressive ant infestation problem in many of the units. (´deal with it´ is usually the attitude). Rent includes routine pest control, which we have NEVER recieved. Units tend to be sprayed for pests only on request, and once a request is put in, it doesn´t mean that it will actually be followed up on. The only good points of living here are the washer/dryers in the units, and prompt response of maintenance to their calls.
If you value a sense of safety and security, you may do better to look elsewhere.
