This place is so bad, and I know what I'm talking about--I managed apartments for four years. If anything, I normally take the side of the landlord, and I hate when bad apples come and write terrible reviews online just because they didn't get what they want. But I promise you this place is not for anyone. Maintenance takes forever to respond to requests, and most of the time when they come to your apartment they fail to leave a note, so you come home from work and have no idea if they were even there or not. You might think, well can't you just look at the issue and see if it was fixed? Half the time the issue isn't fixed. The office is also clueless. They don't have a working e-mail address last time I checked. They usually answer their phones, but often place you on hold for long periods of time or bounce you off to someone else. They often give contradicting information. Their systems are always down. I have lived here a year and for most of that year my gate code hasn't worked, so when my friends come over I have to physically run downstairs and let them in. I also just stopped by the office to pay by rent but they said they no longer take any forms of rent in the office--ANY. Everything has to be paid online. So I went to pay online but required a personal ID number. I called the office for my ID number and they said their system is down and I'll have to check tomorrow. My packages have been lost and later found. The only good thing about this place is the security, because it's in a pretty shady area, but there are super nice security guards that walk around making sure nothing is going on. I know they can't be everywhere at once, but I feel they do the best job they can. Just don't move in. Spare yourself.

I was considering moving here and I paid my application fee and gave them $99. Well I wanted to see what the property was like on a weekend, because I had visited during the week. And the weekend visit pretty much sealed the deal!! It's a NO GO! This is the hood. Although it is extremely close to my job, I would rather live somewhere in peace than convenience. There was trash in the breeze ways, people hanging out, just looking real ------. So glad I visited on a Saturday to see what the community was really like. Fast forward, I called on Tuesday, because Monday was the MLK Holiday and the office was closed, to get my $99 back. NO ONE has called me back. Each time I speak with someone in the office they tell me that they have to talk to the manager and the manager was doing an audit one day, then she was out of the office another day, blah, blah, blah. Just lies!!! So I called the Integral Property Management group, which is the group that owns the property. Even more unprofessional experience. I was told one day that I needed to speak with the Internal Control Manager, and she was in a meeting. The next day I called, and she was out of the office but her assistant guaranteed me she would call me back. I just called a few minutes ago, and the entire staff is out on a company outing. I just want my $99 back!!! Do not rent here. The apartments are built with the lowest quality of material. The carpet is cheap and God help you if you live on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator to make your move easier. All this complex has to offer is its location.

Great staff and building but the area is probably their biggest mistake. First and foremost the complex is titled "Capitol Gateway." It is named so because you can see the Georgia State Capitol from the office. SAFETY -My car was broken into twice INSIDE the gated community. They said cameras showed nothing. -I would often briskly walk home. As a young college-girl, I was followed by several older men in tank tops that lived in the complex. When I say older, I mean at least 30s. -Located right by a public basketball court. Surprisingly noise from that area isn't that bad, but they want to be quiet for a reason. I've called the police on a few sketchy sightings to find out it was drug/gun deals. -Too close to homeless areas. Would have to call police often. -Gates were easily opened or left unopened. Easy to breach security. -A lot of fighting you could hear things being thrown. Getting caught in the middle sometimes just because it's on your way to your apartment. Cops would have to come by a lot due to violence. PARKING -A lot of students park their cars in the visitors' spots and walk to GSU. Office does nothing to rectify. -Not enough space for people who double park (which seems to happen a lot). -Gates break often and sometimes will be stuck inside/outside. -Parallel parking abused by people who blast music in their cars. NOISE -Easy to hear neighbors. Too easy. -Area that seems to enjoy playing loud music all day and night. -Lots of young families so very loud. -Near a school. Recess time is almost unbearable. -Near highway so can hear emergency vehicles and other car sounds. Construction, grounds, maintenance, and staff. All average-good. Staff exceeded expectations. Were incredibly friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable about the area. Never had complaints about maintenance. Everything was done on time and right the first time. Sound and heat insulation was very good. Layouts were beautiful and very modern Georgia look. Grounds were kept nice and neat almost all the time.

the worst place to live .. EVER !
when i moved in last year i was fooled by the guy in the leasing office being so nice . when I turned in my application I asked if there was anything else necessary and he said no .. I got a different call almost every day asking me to bring this paper and that paper and sign this.. it was SOOOOO unprofessional . it took an entire month for him to get it together . when I complained to their corporate office I got a call from the property manager who is the rudest woman I've ever met .. she has a smart mouth and never smiles and doesn't realize how stupid her entire staff is . the only nice people are the maintenance staff although they never come when you need them . my toilet broke on a Friday and by Monday I still hadn't heard from them so I had to fix it myself and I have yet to hear from them . my bathroom fan stopped working and they have yet to fix that .. its been two weeks. this neighborhood is not safe. my friend was car jacked in front of my apartment and people were always knocking on my door at all kind of random hours . the kids that wait for the school buses are loud and inconsiderate . if I wanted to stay in the hood I could have stayed back home. the apartment itself is nice but no where near the drama you will have to endure . I could go on for days about horrible this place is .. I should have went with my gut and listened to the bad reviews before I moved in

do NOT live at capitol gateway
I lived there for a year and moved out a month ago. Now, Capitol Gateway is trying to make us pay for June's rent for not giving a written thing saying we were leaving even though we told them TWICE that we were moving out. Everyone in the lease office has been extremely rude and the safety is terrible. The gates are always broken and they never change the gate code. My car was vandalized and other neighbors have had their apartments broken in to. Terrible.

NOT a safe place to live!
My apt was broken into a few weeks ago. They stole everything electronic. There is no security for the apts, no alarms, no outside cameras besides the one pointing at the playground. Me and my young son don't feel safe living here. I would not advise anyone to move into these apts.

No problems for me but alot of problems for everyone else
I didnt have a bad experience here but I know alot of people had. First I lived with roomates and we where the first people to live in the unit. So the unit was nice with space and washer and dryers and new appliances ..and the grounds where new...There is AMPLE parking..you will never worry about parking but you will worry about safety. The place is the hood..it was orginally capital homes..a well known project..the residents that live there are either GSU students/ or OF low socio-economic standing and from the hood. And this place is the hood..looks nice but you will have kids running around, bums asking for change..My friend car was stolen outside the complex...One day I was coming home and found 2 grams of weed laying on the stairwell in the breezeway that some1 dropped, stayed on the 3rd floor and the lady on the 1st floor was getting had police knock on our door because her husband beat her and they were asking if we knew him..had the people on the floor below me get there door kicked in ..and thats why if you look every apartment at CG now has door guards surrounding the door knob. Overall its a convient location and nice grounds ..but its the hood..dont be fooled

management
Yes it is true the management is trash they can t help you they don t know what you re talking about and they never put in your work orders. The property manager and the assistant property manger are the only ones that can help you but trying to contact then is almost impossible. The apartments are pretty big and spaced out the area is pretty quite but the gate is almost always broken. Over all I would say it s a pretty ok spot due to the location and the price. They really need to get the management staff under control. I sad that no one other then the property managers can help you!!!!!!!

DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!!! DO NOT LET THE PRICES FOOL YOU!! TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT
Capitol Gateway apartments are descent when it comes to looks(as far as grounds go). The only reason I moved here was because it was close to my school and close to the downtown area. First of all the entire leasing office staff are a bunch of incompetent orangutans who have no idea how to handle issues in a proffessional manner. They are slow to respond to your issues; they do not take responsibilities for their actions, instead they blame you, the tenant, for their faults. the current leasing manager Renwick Cole is an egomaniacal twit who has absolutely no idea how to co-ordinate or manage the rest of his staff. they are very inconsistant in their business management. one agent tells you one thing, and you hear the opposite from another. you have to do all the research on your own and they certainly do not adhere to their "promotions" they put on their ad online. Capitol Gateway operates on a bait-and-switch system. as i mentioned earlier make sure you do all your research and ask plenty of questions as well as take notes on what they tell you because they will say what you want to hear then when it is time to sign the lease they switch it up. I would not recommend this place to anybody. yes they are affordable but their ammenities are not that great. you will be surrounded by a number of interesting "individuals" who do nothing but walk around the complex, smoking in public and hanging around the parking lot at all hours of the day and night. there are children who stay out late and make loud noises when they run on the stairs as well as mothers "reprimanding" their children in ways that would make anyone want to call children services. when you get out of your car, make sure you have no valuables in there because the chances of it being there upon your return is slim. as a young woman, I have to be extremely cautious going to my apartment and back. there are strange men just lounging on the stairwell at night hollering rude comments when you walk by. I wrote to management about this 3 times already and they have yet to do anything about it. if you like to be harassed and treated unfairly by the people who call themselves management then sure move here otherwise get more bang for your buck by moving somewhere ELSE. I've been living here for the past 3 months and i am currently looking for someone who would sub-lease my apartment. and don't expect maintenance to arrive on time. if something is wrong with the apartment you might as well contact an outside source because they will not acknowledge your request or put it off until it is convenient for them. this is by far the biggest mistake i made trying to find a place to call home.

RUN!! RUN!! RUN!
I'VE ONLY BEEN HERE A FEW SHORT MONTHS, AND MOVING HERE IS BY FAR THE WORSE DECISION I'VE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MY LEASE IS OVER!!! MANAGEMENT IS GARBAGE! BY GARBAGE I SIMPLY MEAN INCOMPETENT,INADEQUATE, AND UNPROFESSIONAL. ITS SAD TO SEE THAT THIS GROUP OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN INDIVIDUALS HAVE YET TO FIND THEIR NICHE IN THE CORPORATE SCHEME OF THINGS. THEY ATTEMPT TO BE PRIM AND PROPER WHEN THEY'RE NOTHING MORE THAN A GROUP OF HOT ------ MESS, WHO HAVE DIFFICULTIES GETTING ANYTHING RIGHT! RATHER A EGO TRIP FROM THE SMART NEW LEASING MANAGER OR MISMANAGEMENT FROM AGENTS, ITS CLEAR TO SEE THAT MANAGEMENT HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE DOING. THEY LOSE THINGS, LIE, CHEAT, AND BLAME YOU TO COVER UP THEIR MISHAP. WHEN YOU SHOW THEM THEY'RE ERROR THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY WRONG DOING. WHATS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE??? ITS SOOO EVIDENT THAT THEY HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO RUN THIS PLACE ! THE LOCATION OF THIS COMPLEX IS THE ONLY PLUS! IT HAS BEEN A GREAT GOING TO GRAD- SCHOOL AND WORKING IN THE AREA AND BEING ABLE TO COME DIRECTLY HOME. ......JUST COME HOME! NOTE: NOT COME HOME AND RELAX. THIS POORLY BUILT PROPERTY ENSURES THAT YOU HEAR EVERYTHING!! I FOUND IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STUDY! I COULD NEVER UTILIZE THE WORKOUT ROOM BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS SO HEAVILY CROWDED WITH APPARENTLY HIGH (ON MARIJUANA, I HAVE A NOSE!!) TEENAGERS HANGING AROUND. NOTHING IS ENFORCED AROUND THIS PLACE. NOT MAINTENANCE, NOT SECURITY (PEOPLE ARE ROBBED EVERY DAY OUT HERE), NOT PROFESSIONALISM! LIVING IN THE CITY COMES WITH PROS AND CONS NO MATTER WHAT YOUR LOCATION IS, BUT THIS PLACE IS SKETCHY. IT IS A REVAMPED PROJECT/ PUBLIC HOUSING COMPLEX. CAPITOL GATEWAY (FORMERLY THE INFAMOUS CAPITOL HOMES) IS NEW BUT ATTRACTS SOME OF THE SAME CRIMINALS, ACTIVITIES, AND RESIDENTS. IN CONCLUSION,....THIS IS "THE TRAP"...."THE HOOD"...."THE SLUM" WITH A NICE NEW PAINT JOB! IF IT WERE A CAR IT WOULD BE AN ATTRACTIVE LEMON. SAVE YOURSELF A HEADACHE AND RUN!!IF YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO LAY LOW AND DO ILLEGAL THINGS WITH LITTLE INTERVENTION FROM MANAGEMENT, SECURITY OR ANY OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE FACTION WELCOME HOME!!!! RUN!! RUN!! FAR AWAY! EVEN IF YOUR A STUDENT ON A BUDGET DON'T SALE YORSELF SHORT, THERE ARE MANY MORE PROPERTIES TO SELECT FROM! I CAN GURANTEE THAT ANYTHING POSITIVE SAID ON THIS REVIEW BOARD IS FRAUD AND PROBABLY A FIXTURE OF THE MANAGEMENT TEAM!DON'T BURDEN YOURSELF WITH THIS PLACE!

I've only lived in Captial Gateway for a year now and i can agree with some of the other reviews, there are alot of things that can be addressed and changed in these apartments but what apartments don't have its issues. And although Capital Gateway has its share of issues I love my one bedroom apartment and i would recommend these apartments to anybody.

Warning not a good place to stay if you are a young professional
I lived here going on a year now and my lease is fianlly up. Thank goodness!!. i do agree this is a great location but its not worth the nasty stairwairs, broken call box, people just wandering like they lost, parties over in the park by the school, etc. i could go on for the days. Oh and the worst part my mailbox never ever lock nor did my clicker to get the parking area worked. The staff sucks and yes they have gotten cussed out a few times. I warn you if your sophisticated or just want higher standards dont move here cuz the place is not worth it. the people who say they enjoy it are probably never home or dont pay market rent.

The mixed income thing is not working, stay away
There are some pluses to this apartment community. It is conveniently located, it is across the street from a great elementary school. I just hate being a market rate tenant, paying $1280 for a 3-bedroom, and have to come in to the parking lot to see trash everywhere and the first thing you see is the trash compactor when you walk or drive into the lot (what idiot thought up that design). The stair to my 3rd floor apartment stay nasty with beer bottles, chicken bones, and other unidentifiable stains. I have heard gunshots (six on Sunday evening). There is a park that I do not let my children go to. I agree with whomever said that the market rate tenants should be living together. I am tired of feeling like I am paying full price to live in a ------ with getto neighbors who keep trash in front of their door. The parking spaces are too small on one side and there is always a war going on when people are parked too close together. And what is with not having a way to buzz your guest into the parking lot. Who has ever seen a parking lot where cars are parked right where cars come in so that it is easier to have a collision with someone else. There are no stores close by so you must be ready to drive to get groceries or just go to the store without being charged and arm and a leg at convenience stores. One staff person, Angelica, kept me on hold for 20 minutes while waiting on a manager who when went to lunch while I was on hold. Oh did I mention the rent check that was stuck inside my door because I did pay a $20 water bill with it (I would have held on to the $1280 and just sent a note to get the rest of the $20. So there you have it.

Very unfriendly staff with terrible management skills. You are pretty on your own once you move in. You are better off calling 911 when something wrong in the apartment. It is a total waste of money. I could not come to the apartment to have a decent sleep!! I had molds from the rain growing in the apartment. I called them to do something about it and did not get any help. I Was forced to terminate my contract early because the doctor said the place was not safe for my health. Worst experience of my life!!

NEW BUILDING SAME ------ TENNANTS
I Currently live in Capitol Gateway; in a two bed room in pay 1100. for rent. I agree with the two previous post. Capitol Gateway is a mix use community, with everyday working people and those who could care less about working because they are either receiving Section 8 or Tax Credit funds..... I have been here six months and I feel as though I have been living in a nightmare......------ rude neighbors who litter, play loud music, and children who have no respect and class. While Capitol Gateway is convient to the downtown area, I would not recommend them if you are looking for something to call home......

read before renting
I was a tenant for only a year and couldnt take it any more. First the washers had roaches in them and the laundry room was dirty and had an odor. There was always trash on the outside, because the compactor did not work.So many cats live around the trash area, but that kept away the rats.Drunk men would often lay in the breezeway or sit on the steps. The kids are rude, disrespectful, play out in the parking lots and didnt care about hitting cars.Summertime was even worse because the had nothing to do.Often pulling the firealarms.Management was nice until u sign the lease. Very rude and unprofessional. The pool was always cloudy, not to mention too many people who did not live there swimming, with no bathing suits, they would wear blue jeans.Too much dog crap in grilling area.

Never Again
While Capitol Gateway itself is nice buildings with a great view of the city skyline, I have to say the updated building and ameneties are not enough. For this to be such a nice place, the attendants who get tax credit bring the entire apartments down. The children here are bad, rude and loud, who parents need to teach them some home training. I don't have any issues with children playing, but I think they should be in at least by 9:00 and not 10:00. There is always trash spreaded around the trash compactor, which shows that we have nasty attendants who are either lazy or just straight out don't care. I think they should group all the market price paying attendents be in the same complex, because if I have to pay full $950 for a 2bd/1bth I should at least be able to have peace and quiet during the weekdays. I would recommend this apartment to my worse enemy.

Not so bad and Getting better
We were one of the first families to move in back in 2006. Have been here 2 years, and as far as apartment-living goes, Capitol Gateway, is a good one. I make it a point to be in friendly-contact with the entire staff, and have always been treated with respect. They have had a change in management, and change in office reps, and they have gotten a lot better in regards to community safety. They installed taller, working automated gates, and courtesy officer has responded to me very quickly on the 2 occasions that I contact them. I am known by name and face by all of the staff, and that helps when it comes time for any problems I may have. The maintenance guys are great guys! Have nothing but positives to say about them.

Great Place To Live
I am from up North in compared too the apartments there Capital Gateway is affordable. Although I have some problems with others having a chance at receiving a tax credit unit or section 8 in my rent is pricey. However I love it here, it's convenient to everything, no noise in my building besides a few new tenants with children. I will recommend this community anytime.

Great Place to Call Home!
Capitol Gateway is a great place to call home. What a nice community in such an progressive urban area. Great location and great amenities. People moving from Rural Georgia or any part of the Rural United States will not appreciate the uniqueness of this property. With rising gas prices this community is great for me since I work downtown. The staff is friendly and courteous and the grounds are always clean. If you have never lived in a big city or in an urban area then I would suggest that you go in live in Alpharetta or Douglasville!

Friendly staff
i am considering renting at Capitol Gateway. The staff has been really helpful and nice through the whole process thus far. I am however concerned about the reviews i see here. Is it only the people that have had a bad experience that write something. Does this mean there is nothing good about this place?? Come on people!!! Isnt there anyone out there that has had or is having a positive experience???

Believe the Badness
There are some positive sides to Capitol Gateway, but I don't think any of it balances out the negative. The staff are friendly and courteous. When I call to complain about the broken dryers, the person on the phone never raises their voice or treats me like I'm crazy. As I said before, the security is all right. The grounds are kept up even when dogs do their thing and kids vandalize the walls and leave their garbage everywhere. Parking is not a problem here, and it's within walking distance to a Marta bus stop or hiking distance from King Memorial Station. There's no question about the location. You can't beat having I-20 and I-75/85 around the corner. On most days, it's a quiet, lazy place, but when the kids come out in full force, there's no escaping the chatter, bang, and clang. Don't even get me started about the burglaries... Capitol Gateway is livable, but I would not recommend this place to my close friends.

ITS HORRIBLE!!!
Capitol Gateway is the absolute worse apartment complex ever! When I first moved here it was to be close to my school which is Georgia State University! The staff was very nice when I first came here! Afterwards, none of my outlets work in my house, my phone connection is in the laundry closet and has not been fixed since I moved in because I was told that I had to pay to get it fixed myself! The carpet lint gets all over my clothes and everything else!! When you call for someone to fix something they don't do it! When I first moved in hardly any of my keys worked, none of the laundry rooms have change machines so have to drive all over downtown just to get quarters to wash your clothes and the machines mess up your clothes!! This apartment complex house section 8 and makes regular tenants make pay to much money for these apartments!! People are very loud, little kids run around and pull the fire alarms which the alarms goes off for an hour!! I think these apartments are seriously overpriced for the things that the residents go through!! If you want to keep money in your pocket and not spend it on the "EXPENSIVE ------" please don't move here!! Its in your best interest!!
