Enjoying the carefree lifestyle!
I've been living at Plainview for quite some time with no problems. The staff are always eager to help and the maintenance and grounds crews do an excellent job keeping things working and looking great.

Do Not Rent From Plainview
I would not recommend Plainview Apartments to anyone.

Where to begin. At move in we were told that furnace/air filters would be changed every 30days. That's a lie. In four months they've been changed once after we went to the office everyday for a week. They left one at the door and we had to change it...oh and by the way, it was the wrong size.

We waited a month for a door to our spare beadroom that was missing at move in and it still hasn't been painted.

There is no door on the closet in the masterbedroom. The tolit in the masterbedroom has run constantly since day one and we can get no one to fix it. Thank God we don't pay the watter bill.

Parking is horrible!! We work second shift and always have to park by the office and walk two building over to our apartment.

Last but by far not least...the office staff. They are hateful and unhelpful. At move in we were told that Plainview Apartments works with their tenants in times of need. We are being evicted from Plainview because they refuse to work with us. I know you hear this all the time, but in our case a bank error resulted in our rent check being returned. We were asked to pay over $1000 to within seven days or face eviction. We were able to come up with all but $150 of it. We told the office that we could have the other $150 the next day and they refused.

Please tell everyone you know not to rent from Plainview!!!!!

It's a great place to live!!!!
I've lived at Plainview for over three years and I love it. I am not planning on leaving. The staff are great and the location is awesome. Things weren't that great when I first moved in here but new management and staff have really improved things.

New Improvements
An apartment is an apartment, not an estate or a penthouse.

I have lived at Plainview since March and there have been a tremendous amount of improvements. The new manager has installed new lighting, dog walking areas, improved maintenance, resident parties, and renovated exercise room.

No complex can guanrantee every resident will be a good one, but overall the apartments are quiet, clean and friendly. The rents are reasonable, and in keeping with the area.

Not impressed...
But it was better than where I had lived. I should have stuck to my guns about an all electric apt., that gas bill killed me in a 2br townhouse(over $100 in the winter). Really never used any of the redreation facilities, the neighborhood is so big you kind of forget there are pools and courts. The staff could've done a better job at our move in, but they were so busy trying to get other people to sign leases we got over looked. Atmosphere over all was fine, neighbors kept to themselves but I was not interested in another winter of high utilities, so I bounced at lease end.
Parking pissed me off cause I worked 2nd shift into 12-1am sometimes and people need to tell their guest to park around the corner so PAYING RESIDENTS can walk safely to their doors at night. Me and my roomate would be parked way down yonder, while another renters guests would be loitering on the sidewalk at night.

Positive Steps
Plainview is taking very positive steps to regain its past glory. The new manager is responsive to resident requests and is most accomadating. I see him on the property all the time and was even paid a visit to see if my maintenance work was done to my satisfaction. I see workers getting the pool ready to open and the grounds are beautiful.

I have been in Louisville all my life and have seen Plainview at its worst but the changes made in the past few months have been nothing short of miraculus. Office staff is often waving hello and goodbye as I'm on my way to and from work.

Give the place a look and see for yourself. You're the best judge of what you like. You can not beat the location of Plainview and all the great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

changes on the way
We have lived on this property for 9 years. In that time we have seen many things happen to this property. We now see new changes taking place. These changes have been for the better. Given time the Plainview we remember will soon return. This is a plus for this complex. We like the area, office staff, and the new management style that has arrived. With the new improvements we would recommecnd people to come and check it out. If we did not feel this way we would have moved but we like the atmosphere here and are staying. We are going to renew our lease for another year.

AWFUL AWFUL I HATE PLAINVIEW
Well, my four months so far at Plainview have been horrid, and I am thanking my lucky stars right now I only signed a 6 month lease. I will try to quickly run over some of the large problems I had, but there´s no way I wil have enough time and patience to list them all.
1. Was supposed to move in Dec. 19th. Got a u-Haul and everything. Dec. 18th they called and said my apartment wouldn´t be ready until next week. The leasing girl was an awful b*t*h - after I threw a fit about it, at first she said I could move in on Sunday Dec. 21st, gave me her cell phone number to call and said I will personally come out and let you into your new apartment after noon even though we´re closed at noon on Sundays. I get up there on Dec. 21st after 12:00 and the girl was a mean mean B*t*h when I asked her to come out and let me in like we had discussed. Got her to do it but it was a struggle.
2. Got there, they wrote up my lease for the wrong term amount and I had to have them rewrite it. Then I moved in - was supposed to have an apartment with an individual entrance, recieved one with entrance inside a building.
3. When I moved in, I counted 21 maintenance problems that needed to be fixed, including huge paint drips and tears (think HOLES) in my carpet, broken glass from a shattered light fixture on the back porch which went nicely with the missing gate on the back porch, and a front door that wouldn´t shut - not even close. Took me a week to get the key to my mailbox. Took me two months to get all the problems fixed. They have a "move-in guarantee" that everything will be right when you move in - it´s a joke, don´t believe it.
4. They don´t move their lawns or keep up the grounds. This apartment complex is in the nicest end of town, but they do a good job of trying to ruin that by letting dandelions and dog ---- roam free.
5. I had heard one of the apartment buildings at Plainview caught on fire in 2002. When I moved in, I asked them if my building was the one that had burned. They told me NO. Later I found out it was - severe water damage in apartment.
6. Toilet flooded at 2 AM all by itself, entire carpet had to be torn up, huge loud blowers were placed underneath to dry for four days - turns out a repair was done incorrectly and that´s why the toilet practically exploded.
7. Have had many maintenance problems since moving in - leaky dishwasher, etc. - that took weeks and multiple service calls to fix.
8. Currently there are no fire extinguishers on my floor. Need I say more? How about I called the front office 3 times in 3 weeks to complain and still nothing has been done about it?
9. Outdoor lighting is non-existent, all the hallways smell and they leave mulch sitting in monstrous piles in parking lots for weeks. Neighbors leave their windows wide open, turn their alarm clocks on the most annoying sound in the world at top volume, and then leave for the day.
10. Groundskeeper ´lost´ the key to my apartment, it was never found. There is a loose key to my apartment out there somewhere, I just hope the groundskeeper isn´t a psycho b/c he could break into my place anytime and steal, kill, whatever.

The only remotely good thing I can say about Plainview is that I have only had to kill two bugs in my apartment the whole time i have lived there. Of course, I moved in in December, so we´ll see what happens when it starts to warm up this summer.
STAY AWAY FROM PLAINVIEW!!!

Broken into TWICE
My apartment was broken into twice within a period of two weeks. The property manager ignored my letter after the first time. The second time I went in to tell her and she accused me of lying about the whole thing to get out of my lease!!!! The cops told me the complex is renowned for this type of burglary, and the people who lived above me told them it happened often. I had to pay months of rent when I lived with a friend because AIMCO refused to acknowledge the incident.
*Sketchy neighbors
*Spies who live in the complex
*Condescending, dishonest staff
*Repairs done shoddily and after a long time
*Definitely not worth the price

Noisy and filled with ´low-rent´ types
I find I can only sleep comfortably when I´m OUT OF TOWN! At least 2-3 times a week I´m awakened by a car horn at anywhere from 2am - 6am, or engines being gunned (fart mufflers or loud trucks), or stereos at 3:30am.

Repeated calls to the leasing office have resulted in nothing being done.

This is a remodeled unit, too, but the paint job looks like it was done by a 2 year-old.

AIMCO Properties Suck
I lived in Cincinnati in an AIMCO property, it sucked, then transferred here thinking it would be better- It isn´t, just more expensive. Shoddy building materials, as cheap as possible. Maintenance workers have no idea what they are doing. Office staff is quick to point out if they can charge more $$$ but if you need something- forget it!! Noisy, trashy poorly lit and dirty!!!

AIMCO SUCKS ! ! ! ! !
Don´t let all that sugar coating impress you cause the water´s still a drippin´.
They had some decent maintenace people
but they were smart enough to get out.
If you want to be talked to like a piece
of dirt then PlainView´s office is where you want to be.

It´s changed, for the BETTER!!!
I lived here for 6 years then moved. Didn´t think I was ever going to live here again. The apts were real bad. Now, I have two young boys and I´m living here again. I think that it´s changed and I feel safe being a single mom. The contruction changes are making it look so much better. The floor plans are huge and it´s under new management. So far, everyone has been very nice, efficient, and responsive.

Incompetent and dishonest office staff
This apt complex has been the worst I´ve EVER stayed in. I´ve been misbilled multiple times, my rent checks have been mysteriously lost, I have been mislead twice, and now they are trying to rip me off by claiming my lease term is longer than what was promised. Stay away from Plainview.

Crime, Pot Smoking Neighbors and More
Lucky me, I took out a six month lease. Two months after moving in, my truck was broken into. According to the office who responded, crime was common in that area (and this is supposed to be the "nice" end of town). He said that another car had been broken into that same night. Two weeks later, my apartment was broken into! Nobody saw anything and no-one was ever arrested. When I called the office to request a change of locks, they wanted to charge me. There are supposed to be security doors for each building, but you can use ANY key to get in. They tell you to use your apt key, but how can 10 different keys all work with the same lock? When friends came to visit, they used their house keys to gain entry to my building. Also, I was told the gas heat was paid by the complex. Wrong! It was split heating. My monthly gas bill ranged from $40-$100 a month, not including personal electric (This is for a one bedroom). The residents across from me smoked pot and parked on the lawn. The indoor pool was never available for use, b/c of swim classes (not free, by the way). Covering parking is available, by not exactly convenient. Lucky for me, I took out a six month lease, but I still moved out one month early. I would NOT recommend this apartment community to anyone.
