I just recently moved in myself and I must say that these apartments are rather nice. I actually ended up getting one of the older units and not one of these newer models that some have mentioned but you wouldn't think it to look at the insides. My unit isn't perfect by any means, I've got a banister rail that looks like it could have been from the 80's but I can understand that there's no point in replacing it unless there is a safety issue or if they are going to remodel it. Don't just blindly believe the negative comments on here. Looking at some of the pictures on here I would be willing to wager that people aren't calling about repairs until there are serious problems. If a wall looks like it MIGHT have water damage don't wait until the drywall is caving in until you call about it. And as far as the whole fire situation, I don't know what that would have to do pertaining to whether Plainview is a great place to live or not. Accidents happen people. As for people complaining about late fees and maintenance reporting you for things, pay your bills on time and dont be trying to break the rules. You signed a contract and were told exactly what to expect. Sorry about complaining here, this is suppose to be just my review about the property. I'm just sick of people feeling like they are entitled to something and that the world should revolve around them. I just want to reiderate that Plainview is a great place to live and in a great part of Louisville. It is well with the money with all of the nice facilities including a fitness center, pool, and corn hole. I also found out this weekend that there are two really nice gas grills for tennants to use.

    If you want to live in a deathtrap, this is your go-to place.

    Having been a student and working in Louisville for 5 years, I had the opportunity to live in a variety of housing and apartment complexes in various parts of the city. While the renovated town homes of Plainview may seem like an attractive housing option, I would strongly avoid any apartment-seeker to avoid this complex at all costs. Highly overpriced for the area, the Plainview staff will entice you in with their claims of "renovated apartments". On the surface, these apartments appear to be nice; however, within days of moving in, you will quickly find out that their apartments were likely renovated by toddlers with Fischer-Price tool sets. Within the first day of moving in, a shower in one bathroom on the second floor leaked water due to a pipe not being properly installed, causing the ceiling in the kitchen (underneath the bathroom) to collapse. While one mistake can be overlooked, the ceiling in the second floor bedroom collapsing after the first rainstorm makes it more difficult to be forgiving. The second, third, and fourth time this happened was simply inexcusable. And, the steady stream of insects crawling into the kitchen throughout the year did not make for pleasant company. Perhaps we were unlucky and found ourselves in a faulty unit (though the other reviews on this site indicate otherwise); however, if the faux pas with the apartment were difficult to deal with, the customer service from the Plainview staff reached the pinnacle of disastrous. I have never interacted with a less helpful, ruder group of people than the Plainview Office staff. The only one exception was the maintenance man apologized for all the inconveniences. The office staff, on the contrary, never apologized for the fact that we had maintenance men in our apartment off and on each week for the first few months we lived there, repairing and painting our ceilings, redoing the roof on our building, and fixing our plumbing. They made no apology, and of course made zero offers to reduce monthly rent or fees in order to compensate for the building that was far from adequate. They rarely returned calls, and when they did, gave false impressions of when the repairs would be completed. Even after moving out, you'll have to deal with the snippy-staff of Plainview, like when they called me weeks after I had moved out (early, nonetheless), to leave a voicemail threatening me that they had not received my keys, and that my account was being charged at 150% of the premium rent for each day my keys were not returned. When returning the call to the property manager, she was conveniently on the other line, and had the person whom I was on the line with inform me that they had, in fact, found both keys. All-in-all, Plainview is easily one of the worst possible places to live in Louisville. Unless someone is threatening your life unless you move into Plainview, I would suggest moving elsewhere.

      Nice Apartment

      I just recently moved out of a renovated apartment. I can't say much for the people who live in an unrenovated one but we were very happy with what we had. We had very nice granite countertops and lots of cabinets in the kitchen. Maintenance was great, I accidently dropped a fork in the disposal and they came over immediately to fix it. I would definitely recommend these apartments to people who are like my family and didn't know the area well but wanted a nice place to live for a year.

        Great customer service and maintance crew!

        Love it here. The staff is great. Any issues I have had we're dealt with the same day! When there was a mix up on move in time the crew literally helped me move in! I've never lived in apartment with such a caring staff. Any negative reviews are probably more the people making the reviews than an actual problem....I've been so impressed that it prompted me to call there corporate office and tell them what a great job they are doing....I've never done that before anywhere!

          Great Place!

          I've moved in this past Jan and I have been well satisfied. Everyone has been a great help in making me feel right at home. My newly renovated apartment is beautiful and has everything I need. I moved from an apartment that I needed to wear ear plugs every night...Not here..It's very sound proof. My dog and I have enjoyed our walks around the complex and meeting other dog owners. I'm really satisfied with Plainview and happy after all the apartments I looked at, that I choose this place.

            Commercial Rape - Astronomical charges for little things - Kiss your Deposit goodbye

            $100.00 plus $10 a day late fee for Rent over 4 days late. $50 each lost key fee, etc, etc. Read the contract VERY CAREFULLY. If anyone smokes, you will pay for new carpets and patio door blinds when you leave. Maintenance workers will report you for any discrepancy they see while in your home. Staff inspects patios and reports discrepancies to management.

              Best Customer service ever!!!

              I moved into Plainview a couple of months ago and absolutly love it! I moved from Mississippi and had to do everything over the phone and the staff was so helpful in the process. They put me in one of the newly renovated apartments and it is so beautiful! I love the black granite counter tops and really nice deep sinks. I felt that everyone from the maintence crew to the ladies in the office were so kind. I requested a shelf to be put up in the laundry room and they had it done the next day and the gentlemen was kind enough to hang all my pictures on my wall while he was there. Overall it has been a wonderful experience!!! I highly suggest coming to make this your home!!!!

                Welcome to hell

                We moved into this apartment in january and signed a 10 month lease. From the day we moved in we had issues. There are 3 parking spots in front of our door to be used by 8 apartments. The stairs leading up to our door are breaking and rotting but they won't fix them. The "granite" counters scratched on first touch. Don't let the renovations fool you, they used the lowest quality supplies. The apartment is a loft and the upstairs gets really hot but they won't put a ceiling fan up there so we have to run a fan all night. Our water gets turned off all day about twice a week. There are no washer/dryer hookups and we have to drive to our laundry facility which has the crappiest machines ever. There is also a sign in the laundry room that says you are on camera but if you take the cover off the spot where the camera is, you can see that there never was a camera installed. Who are they trying to fool? Then we reported a noise behind our sink. Maintenance came, checked, said they don't see anything. Two weeks later, we get a knock on our door because the apartment below us was completely flooded on the ceiling. Hmm..wonder where it came from. Then our water heater broke and flooded. Now we are dealing with a roof leak which has caused us not to renew our lease and move out immediately. There is mold in the walls but their idea of fixing it is to just paint over it. Management doesn't care if we stay or go, doesn't care about the problems we have. And to put the icing on the cake, we got a letter saying that our rent would increase from 679 to 710. I don't know how they can justify charging us more to live in this piece of crap. Oh yeah, and ask them about the building that burned down.

                Thumbs down!!

                My family and I have lived in one of their "renovated" townhouses for two months now and the place is a disgrace. Thus far we have had ants, flies (took over a week to an exterminator in here". The AC unit does not cool the upstairs and their own maintenance crew told us the unit was too small for the square footage. This problem translated into a $300 LG&E for the month of July. The property is managed by employees too young for the responsibility. They tried to charge me a $5.59 fee to have their maintenance staff (more young kids) drive a golf cart to my apartment and tape a letter to my door. They call it Certified Mail - First Class US Mail. Our latest fiasco is now the old run down overtaxed AC unit is broken. Surprise yet another hot night in this disgrace of an apartment. Thinking about renting here I suggest trying somewhere else.

                  Staff is awful

                  This place is a joke, at the end of our lease we were offered a new lease. When we went down to renew it before the end of our lease, they told us the offer had expired. They refused to allow us to stay in the apartment because they wanted to renovate it. When we tried to get their corporate contact info to complain, they refused. If you like having running water, forget it. Almost every other week the buildings water would be shut off, try making a newborns bottle or showering for work when you have no water. The parking situation is awful, if you come home past 8pm you are guaranteed a hike to your apartment. There were mice, bug issues, the hall lights were always going out, the energy bills were more than living in a house due to poor insulation. During the summer you are guaranteed to have to walk through an un air conditioned hall way to get outside. Temperatures regularly reached 120 in the hallway. Our tile in the shower area was literally molding and rotting, when we notified the maintenance they came in and just applied some caulking to it. That is not a fix, and it most certainly does not fix the mold problem, within days the mold was coming through the caulking again. It is beyond obvious that management writes all positive reviews...

                    This is a great community. The staff is outstanding, helpful and attentive to the needs of the client. I have only live hear for about a month, however I have witness great changes as the original builder NTS has reaquired this property. I have worked in the area for years and have been amazed by attention and value that has been placed on this property. Thanks to all who care, The new guy!

                      No Complaints

                      I moved in about six months ago, and I have no complaints. Plainview is close to my work, and many resturants and shopping. Since move-in, I have only had a few issues, and they were all resolved in a quick and professional manner. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this site, but I would encourage anyone to stop and see for themselves. That is what I did, and so far it has been great.

                            Funny how many reviews were obviously written by Mgmt.

                            The apartments are what they are, in the day they were nice but they were built in the 70's. And that means they have lead paint, poor insulation, most likely aluminum wiring, drafty windows, and just general old building issues. Also the gas utilities are combined for each building so you may well wind up paying more than your share. That being said it may be ok for the right price, but most likely you can find newer, more comfortable apartments nearby for not too much more money. Love the way Mgmnt. always talks about the improvements as if they were residents, for me that would raise a red flag. Why aren't legitimate residents praising the property?

                                          Not worth it.....

                                          ....management is overly nice to get u in the complex....not so much afterwards. I've had soooooooo many issues with them, it's ridiculous. Can't wait to get out when lease is up! There are lots of vacancies, if that tells u anything, although they'll tell u otherwise. They're even willing to let me break the lease one month early to avoid ongoing issues with neighbors & several water leaks - which I have to clean up after. I've had at least 8-10 water leaks, if that tells u anything....talk about a mess. I would certainly suggest considering ANY other property. Very outdated....except for the building that burned down a couple of years ago. The second building that burned down is still being leveled. Think long & hard about it...u've been warned!!!!

                                            Much Improved

                                            I lived at Plainview a few years ago, and I was happy to leave. One of my old neighbors still lives there, and this weekend I was in town and stopped in to say hi. All I can say is WOW!!!!! This is definately not the same property I used to live at, everything has changed. I can't believe some of the negative reviews, as all I saw were positives.....some people need to remember, Rome was not built in a day. If I ever more back to Louisville, I will definately consider Plainview again, something I didn't think I would ever say.
