When we first moved in everything was fine. Then noisy neighbors moved in and the problems started. Nothing was done about after hours noise or the smell of pot through vents. Hurricane damage was never fixed since our apartment was "low on the list" still have mold in the outside closet. Windows and balcony doors leak with heavy storms. A good thing is the availability of parking for when you have visitors. Pet friendly which is nice.

Pleasant experience living here with the office and maintenance staff being exceptionally prompt to your needs and very pleasant and friendly. The only issue we would like to see addressed is keeping the stairwells cleaner on each level. Maybe once a month blowing off the steps of dirt and debris would be helpful for improved appearance. Otherwise, the maint. staff is doing a great job on keeping up the appearance of the community even around our dumpster area. Kudos!

The apartments have been recently renovated and are quite. Convenient to shopping and town. A nice place for families of all ages to enjoy. The upgrades are very nice and help provide a quality feel to the apartment!

First of all the apartments themselves are in need of MAJOR renovations. The handle of the microwave pulled off the third time I opened it. They have no mail intake system and whatever system they do decided to have that day differs and more times than not your mail gets sent back to the sender. Don't plan on having a roommate because it's double security deposit and application fee. As if one ridiculously high one for old apartments isn't enough. And on top of everything. If they have an issue, instead of talking like real professionals they tape some cheap written notice on your door and include whatever fee they can attach. Move into Hawthorne. That's where I'll be headed as soon as my lease is up if they don't kick me out first

Let's hope that the new management company can fix the issues at Hunterstone. Let's start with the bug issue, Roaches are all over this place. Complain to the office and they tell you " in the New York you have rats and here we have roaches". The size of the units are very small and you can hear everything that is happening in your building, Don't hope to get your security back as indicated in the lease, they hold out as long as possible to give it back even when the unit is in perfect condition. Just my thoughts, hope that helps.

I have recently moved to Hunterstone and wanted to take the time to give the apartment complex a detailed review. I absolutely love the place, location, and just about everything Hunterstone has to offer. With that being said, every single person has different preferences. My top preferences are location, noise, and cleanliness. I want to live in a nice place, with nice people, and do nice things. (Don't we all!) After living here for a month, I would strongly recommend this complex to anyone! Our apartment was thoroughly clean upon moving in. The application process took about 5 days, which was unacceptable, but I did not let this issue ruin it, and I am glad I looked past it. We cannot hear any of our neighbors (this is why we moved from our last place) and everyone in the complex is mostly friendly. The nice thing is with Tribute you do not pay extra fees for no reason, such as community and administrative, but there is a reason why Tribute does not charge them. Your rent can be paid online, but is somewhat confusing, as you never receive any type of bill for rent, and only an emailed bill for water/sewer. You have to do the math yourself, but I would much rather do simple math then pay an extra $1.50 a month for a paper bill. Once again, everyone is different. Parking is the only issue I have, but it's occasional that I have to park a good 100 feet from my building. However, there are nice handicap spots in front of each building, which handicap people actually use, so I do not mind walking if it means helping them. We haven't had any maintenance issues yet, but I will keep this review updated if we do.

I moved in to HunterStone in December 2012. In January I made my first call to the office to complain about the roach infestation that I was shocked to discover. I was told the exterminator came every two weeks and covers the entire complex completely within a three month period. However, there was no exterminator in my apartment until the following week. Every time I walked into the kitchen there was new roach excrement and or roaches running in the kitchen. I have had to remove the paper towels, the drain board, the cutting board, soap dispenser etc from the counter because there are always roaches under them! I called the office every week. I put my complaint in writing. Once more the exterminator came, spraying only my apartment, which makes me feel certain that the roaches will be back soon. I then gave my notice to leave the complex because I cannot live like this. I was told that the manager was unaware of my complaints and would I give her a chance to fix this. She promised another exterminator visit. As of today, he never came. When I told the the office I was leaving, they insisted I was breaking the terms of my lease. They said in addition to my needing to give 60 days notice, I would have to pay another two months rent on top of that, and the difference in rent that I was given off as "break" in my lease for a signing bonus! How is this legitmate? Do not rent at Hunter Stone. How can anyone find this kind of living situation acceptable?

This community is close to everything but yet wooded and beautiful. Fitness center is great and pool area is the best in this heat. Office and maintenance staff are friendly and helpful as needed. Dog park is a nice feature. Monthly socials and events to residents which are fun.

---- HOLE
Ok lets start with when we moved in we were told we got one moths free and it was in our contract. WHen the month came and we just went up there to pay out water bill they said we were late and they DEMANDED there money we told them no we moved in on a special they looked up our info and told us "No we were wrong" so my husband went home and got the lease and showed them they said "o thats not what our copy says" no apologizes no nothing! Then we got a nasty phone call from management saying we had a vehicle that needed to be moved asap needless to say it wasn't even our vehicle but they told us it was and dint want to listen to anything we had to say, extremely rude! We had only been here 2 months at this time and it was a nightmare with the management so far. We also had a problem with our door, it wasn't level to the ground so bugs came in right under the door way needless to say they still haven't fixed it, our dishwasher leeks bad and they still haven't fixed that! The paint they used to paint the walls is horrible you can't wash your walls with water without the paint coming off. By the 3rd month we received a letter saying we owed them money for the water needless to say they made another mistake and still didn't apologize and were rude. The maintenance is ridiculous the stair ways are disgusting trash throughout the building. The company my husband works for he sometimes drives a work truck home, a rude lady then called him and told him that he was not allowed to park in the apartment parking lot bc it wasn't on our lease as a vehicle, like really, its a work truck, and if he drove the work truck home his truck was left at work. I don't recommend this place to anyone! THe management is horrible but i have never had a problem with my neighbors at all. Then there is a pet policy no pet over 25 lbs and breed restrictions,, i had a min pin that weighed 5 lbs and wasn't allowed to have her bc of her breed but yet there are pit bulls, huskys, dobies, and every breed that you rant supposed to have that are here! ITS RIDICULOUS!!!! STAFF SUCKS AND ARE RUDE! RUN AWAY FROM HERE FAR FAR AWAY

Just moved out
I enjoyed my 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment at Hunterstone. I was on the 3rd floor which was nice because of the vaulted ceilings but if you have trouble walking up 38 stairs, the 3rd floor isn't for you. Maintenance was always pleasant and available when I needed them. The office staff do the best they can. The fitness center was a plus. The only possible downfall to living at Hunterstone is if you don't like dogs as there's a lot of them. I had to move because my dog didn't get along with my neighbors dogs otherwise, I'd still be living there. Everything is so convenient ... Walmart, restaurants, shopping, jobs!

love living here
Hunterstone is such a great place to live! It is tucked away but close to eating places and shopping. It is such a great neighborhood. The office and maintenance staff are great too. They plan great things for us like yummy chili for all the residents, morning breakfast to go, and even had a chocolate fountain one month!!I just can't say enough about how great it is to live here!

Seriously
I have lived here two years and I can honestly say the pros out weigh the cons. The staff will work for you if you give them the chance. Always trying to reach out to us with games and contests and get togethers. Maintenance is on the ball too! I was given a new dryer AND a new dishwasher with absoluely no begging. The ones I had were not working and they replaced them no problem. The dog walk area is great we have older kids so we do not use the playground. Its quiet which you wouldn't expect since it is easy to walk to mcds or walmart. Very little noise as there is a woods and stream in the back of the property unless of course your neighbor above you plays dance revolution but thats apartment living and the chance you take! The parking lot is not full of thumping music and young kids either...which is a plus! Unlike other places in Wilmington NC being in Leland this is not only a great price for a short drive to the beach but more laid back and quiet for people saving cash more like thrifty family style than ------ ....a good value.... I am picky and I am glad we are here!

Don't do it
I have been here a year and am happy to say my lease is up and I am leaving. When I moved in the apartment was dirty from the walls to the carpet to the appliances. Management is poor at best. There are vehicle with expired tags, cars come thru at all hours with loud music, there is trash everywhere, the pool is nasty, unless you find a maintenance man yourself nothing gets fixed. There are at least 8 people living in the apartment below me. People leave food waste everywhere. It is just nasty. I would recommend tribute properties tear it down and start over again. Oh and lest I forget the homeless man living in his car outside my apartment for weeks harassing all the women tenants.

Hunterstone Apartments are poorly managed
I have only lived in Hunterstone for two months and what i was told when I moved in and what they actually do are two different things. I was otls they are very srict with the rules and make people abide by them. Well the people let their dogs poop everywhere and do not pick it up, food and trash are being thrown from the balcony's of apartments. Cras with expired tages have filled the parking lots and it looks like they just let anyone move into the place as long as they have money to give them. I wished that I have never moved in to Hunterstone. the management are very poor and they will not correct anything when reported. They are very lazy around here. I think Tribute Properties who owns Hunterstone needs to get rid of all the people they have working there and start with some good hard working people who would care about the place. The buildings are beautiful but once you live here you will see all the trashy people who live here and you will see just how poorly the apartment complex is run.

The worst place I have ever lived
These are the laziest people I have ever dealt with, they did not clean the carpet before I moved in, when asked about it they said they did not have anyone to do it. There is no upkeep on the stairways, I have complained several times and been told it is not thier problem. My A/C went out one evening and they told me it would not be looked at until the next day, and I should open a window. I cannot wait to move from here, I would not recommend this dump to anyone.

Cant wait to move.
first of all, I do understand that when you live in an apartment there are certain things you have to put up with, like loud music from neighbors, the occasional mess on the sidewalk from a pet. things like this i can put up with. The things I can't stand here all have to do with management. They are LAZY! When i moved in they said they would be in monthly to change the air filters. I think they just say this to keep you on your toes or something because i have lived here 9 months and they have changed my air filter twice: once when my ac unit wasnt working, and the next when i checked it because no one could come into my home without getting a stuffy nose and noticed it was pitch black and all grimy. You have no choice but to have your water bill go through the office. They will email you when they are out and you have to email back or wait for them to post on your door how much you owe. THey have my email address but sometimes they email me and sometimes they dont. They also dont send them out till the last couple of days of the month, and ask that they be paid with your rent giving you just a few days. Normally your water wouldnt fluctuate too much from month to month but if it does you have almost no time to budget in the bill. The tipping point for me was this morning. I went into the rental office after finding a giant cockroach on my kitchen floor last night. THe woman passed it over as if it were nothing. she filled out a maitenance form and sent me on my way. I had to ask her when they would be coming, and she said, "they only come once a week, and i think theyve already been here this week". UNACCEPTABLE. I keep my apartment very clean, no stray food anywhere and am constantly disinfecting. I know living in North Carolina in an apartment building you will see these things from time to time but that she expects me and my young son to continue to live with roaches running around my apartment for another week? that is absolutely disgusting. I can not wait until my lease is up, I am tired of requests going unanswered, serious issues being passed over as if its no big deal. Do yourselves a favor do not rent here....

If you are considering Hunterstone, look closely
The day I moved in, management seemed to go from Nice to "Here are all of the rules". I did complain numerous times about the elephants who lived above me but nothing had been done, the area was clean sometimes but other times it was pretty messy. Apparently the apartment beside me had an infestation of fleas and they moved up and down the building. One of the carpet cleaning people told me that it is hard to kill them all as many as there were. Also, we had a fire inpection which I wasnt given any notice except a piece of paper that was taped but then folded up on the outside of the building. One of the tenants who was a neighbor said when they did the inpections, they went into bedrooms but the fire alarms were right above the kitchen. They then did an inspection and sent tenants notices of things they need to fix. Interesting place, lgad I left.

Never had problems!
My husband and I moved in to Hunter Stone the day after our building was finished. We stayed for 4 years. After having moved on almost a yearly basis all through college, we were ready to find a place to stay at for a couple years. The only thing that made us move this year, was the lenghty-ness of our daily commute to get to work. We never had problems with crime, or bugs, or bad neighbors the entire time we lived there. Sure kids would play in the parking lots when they got home from school, but this is going to happen in any apartment complex with lots of kids and little green space. We have recommended this complex to a number of friends over the years and will continue to do so in the future. I don't know where these people with negative reviews are living, but in the FOUR years we lived here we NEVER had any of these problems.

Horrifying..RUN..Do Not Rent Here
This apartment complex is extremely BAD. Litter and trash everywhere, hoodlum kids on skateboards and bikes ramming into vehicles even though no bikes and skateboards are suppose to be allowed on sidewalks and drives. Vandalism, and vehicle breakins. Definitely do not feel safe there at night. Bikes and kids toys laying all over sidewalks. Mgt doesn't do a thing. Grass is never cut, it has been knee high for most of the summer, landscaping is dying, or missing altogether. Car in lot with flat tire that has been sitting there for months, kids unsupervised at pool and playground. Several maintenance ppl have come and gone with only 1 onsite. Poor poor management. Am very glad I got out...I would never recommend this scummy slummy place.

Think twice before you choose
When I first moved into Hunterstone it was not that bad as it is now. I understand the economy is poor, but Hunterstone has really lowered their standards. The quality of people they are letting into this community is awful. The tenants are filthy, and you almost feel like your living in a low income community. The apartments are nice inside, but it is hard to get past the fact of the community atmosphere. I also felt unsafe in the parking lot. I would advise a tennant to think twice before choosing Hunterstone.

Totally filthy place
I live at Hunterstone and cannot wait for my lease to be up so I can get out. It is filthy and disgusting and mgmt does nothing to remedy even with verbal and written compaints. It is definitely looking more like a low income housing projects rather than the upscale "condo" community that they advertise....Take advice and look elsewhere...it get worse here by the day.
