I moved into St. James back in August and have had the best experience that I have ever had at an apartment community. I am in the military so I move ALOT. I called st. James to get some info on the community after getting orders to be stationed in Charleston. After speaking with Austen I knew this was where I was going to live. The staff is very personable and makes you feel like you have known them forever. Austen was very patient with me during the application process as I was having to do everything online. Once I finally got here I moved into a beautiful home that looks and feels brand new. The amenities here are awesome and I have met some really great people while attending the resident events. Parking is ample and there are designated visitor parking areas so that residents have easy access to the spaces closest to the buildings. Neighbors are friendly and even kept my dog over night when I had a family emergency. Another perk is that i can walk to Wal Mart and near by shops. I love my new home and my new town, hopefully I will get to stay here for a while!

Office people don't care. You can hear your neighbors too much. No security cams in parking lot. Vehicle vandalism occurs.

New management is horrible. If I knew Austin was leaving I NEVER would have renewed my lease. I don't think they like their JOBS. Property definitely has gone down hill. Office staff is frequently on break. FYI they lock the doors for lunch and will not let residents in ( and look right at you through the windows). Dog bitten blinds still not replaced from last resident and it's been over 6 months.Residents pay for trash service, but garbage still ends up in the stairways/ hallways. Residents were required at the risk of towing (I got towed.. $250.00 in the hole) to obtain a parking pass, then NEW Management decides to issue Visitor parking passes to park anywhere. Why the need for parking passes if it is a free for all?Bikes were not allowed on balconies w/Austin ( there is a bike area), new management changes the rules and requires bike to be on balconies or inside. Do not move here. You can rent a house in the area for the cost of living here without the hassle.

I've lived here for 3 months. I've been complaining about not having a place to park anywhere remotely close to my apartment for 3 months. I only have one vehicle. It's ridiculous how they won't enforce the parking rules in the lease.

Nothing special. Beware. When I left I asked them if I had to clean, they said "no just don't leave any large holes in the walls". I did clean anyway. They charged me $150.00 for not cleaning and had a collection agency come after me.

This was the first apartment complex I'd ever lived in and I stayed here for two years. At the end of the period I was there, I was displeased. There was a situation that was handled poorly by the office and maintenance and it actually took four months to get resolved. Four months AFTER I moved out. I think this was a result of poor management in the office. I don't look at it as a reflection of Woodfield St. James. I live in a different community now (that was just purchased by GreyStar, after I moved in) and there are some things that I miss about Woodfield. If you're looking for a nice place to live, it would be for you. The community is gorgeous, the nicest I've ever seen. They have little things that make you feel like a community. During the holidays, they have porch decorating contests. Once a month or so they have resident appreciation events and more. They really try to make it a nice place to live and it is.

When your lease runs out, they really put the squeeze on you. They jack up the rates by $300 a month. The apartments are fairly nice, but not opulent. one shouldn't think of them as "luxury" apartments.

I moved here about a year ago and couldn't be any happier. The community is beautiful, from the amazing and helpful staff to the immaculate landscaping. The apartments are by far the nicest that I have lived in....I would recommend WSJ to anyone moving to the Charleston area, or just looking to make the move into a great upscale community.

I have lived here just under a year now and I still love it here. I do have to move next month due to my company transferring me, but I wish I could stay. The new staff here is awesome. The maintenance guys have always been very helpful and respond very quickly. I met the new manager for the first time this month and he is very nice. I havent had any bad experiences here like some of the other reviews. I travel a lot for work and normally cant stay anywhere for more than a year, ( 8 apartments in the last 7 years ). This has been one of the best places I have lived at.

I absolutely love living here! The community is beautiful and the maintenance staff works very hard to keep everything maintained. The office staff are relatively new, but they are always very helpful and dependable when it comes to questions or concerns. I adore the CARES team because it makes it nice to have the opportunity to meet new people and know that I can enjoy more here than just my home. The location is so convenient to everything! I love the amenities this complex offers as well. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Just renewed my lease.
Well, the title says it all. I have lived here for a little over a year and just renewed. I love it here! The office staff seem really nice and are always willing to help. They address everything in a timely manner. The maintenance guys are awesome! Any time I have called in a service request they have it completed in the same day. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Noise can sometime be an issue if you have inconsiderate neighbors but you will get that in any complex. They have a community organizer, that does resident events multiple times a month. ( can't wait for the march madness event next weekend). Overall it's a great place to live and am glad I am able to live here for another year.

Best Place in Goose Creek!
I moved in about 4 months ago and really enjoy living here. I mean you can hear your neighbors sometimes but thats what comes with living in an apartment. The landscape always looks really nice and maintained. The maintenance staff is really nice and always willing to help....I mean they even carried my package to my door because it was heavy. Everytime I go into the office they are always helpful and smiling. Much better place than some of the apartments in goosecreek in my opinion. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to move to goose creek!

Nice community, great staff
It kind of annoys me that there are so many negative reviews regarding noise- it's apartment living... I actually find it relatively quiet compared to other complexes. If that is something you are worried about, live on the 3rd floor because you know there's nobody above you. Or just get a house. As for the community itself, I've been here almost a year and I love living here. The amenities are really nice and the staff is always helpful and friendly. The apartments are big, new and have nice black appliances. I've met a couple neighbors, most of which seem cool. All in all, I'm happy with this place.

Mediocre living
To cut to the chase: There is a very high turnover rate with residents here, which means your experience here can change at a moments notice depending on which floor you live on and who moves in", noise is a major issue due to poor-insulation, rent is way over priced for the quality. They advertise this place as a "Higher End" apartment complex, it's not any different than any college apartments I've lived in in the past. As for me, I'm done with apartment living, I'm going to try looking out for a townhouse or a house to rent/purchase...If you choose to live here request to live in the back of the complex. You won't experience 176 noise as much. It also seems to be quieter on that side due to the fact that it's on the back side of the property. everyone I know who lives on the back side says it's pretty quiet by "apartment living" standards. I hope this review helps you out on your search for the right living accommodations for you :)

CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUT!!!!
At first we loved it and loved being the first tenant in our unit, then we started to notice the little things. For example, hearing your upstairs neighbor use the bathroom and run the shower. Kids run up and down the stairs like it's a play ground. And before you say this must be an old lady writing this, you are wrong, I am 32. The bathroom vent leaks when it's humid outside (they have been here more than twice to "look at it" or "fix" it). Also, after "looking" @ it the last time, they left the door unlocked! Then there is the office staff. Parking is an issue, so they handed out Parking Permits and were going to implement the next phase once everyone received their sticker. That was a year ago. They have switched utility companies twice and neither one can calculate a correct assessment of your water and sewer consumption. Our rent has always been around $930, my statement this month is over $1000, how is that possible for a one bedroom?!?!?! If we could afford to break the lease, we would. Unfortunately we have to wait it out. For the amount we pay here, we can rent a house!

APARTMENT REVIEW
I do feel that I have the right to state how I feel about the apartment complex, its nice but, very poorly constructed!!!!! When you are able to hear your neighbor going to the bathroom, that's pretty bad construction!!!!!! The manager is a pushy miss know it all... which if I were her would not be talking about other tenants while they still live at the complex. Extremely unprofessional. But, then again she might have something going on with the builder developer or what ever... because if you were to ask me she really is not management material. The grounds are nice but, the dog ---- is starting to get on my nerves, if people can not clean up after their animals than maintence should do it or do they NOT... get paid enough to do their jobs. Well, I could go on for days but, I sure alot of people feel the same way but just afraid to say anything....... I know your out there so do not feel bad....

Beautiful Place but not enough sound proofing....
I agree that Woodfield St James is beautiful, landscaping is beautiful, pool is beautiful, maintenance is very helpful, parking has been readily available (Although the apts are only at half capacity so I don't know how parking will be once they are full). I can hear my neighbors however. I can hear their washing machine, garbage disposal, showers, children etc upstairs (Kind of strange to hear a neighbor using the bathroom) and I can hear the neighbors TV, music etc downstairs. The master bedroom wall is closest to the outside stairwell wall and you can hear people walking down the stairs and talking early in the morning, so I am awoken by that also. I've also found that the cabinets and materials used in building are subpar. If you don't mind hearing your neighbors or are looking at 3rd floor living then you should be fine noise wise.

Great place to live!
I have had a GREAT experience at Woodfield St. James. Everyone that I have come in contact with here has been nothing but helpful and welcoming. The front office personnel are always around the complex making sure that things are running smoothly and they are extremely nice. I was very impressed with the speedy response of the maintenance crew. I called to the front office and I had someone at my apartment within 20 minutes! The workout area is great as well. When I go in there, I can immediately get on any machine I want and the machines are very well-maintained. The complex is also very quiet. I have yet to hear anything that my neighbors are doing. Parking is great too! There is always a spot near my apartment door. The landscape here is absolutely beautiful! The pool area is beautiful as well. Whenever I am near the pool, it does not seem to crowded and everyone seems to be very respectful. This place has a great community feel! I am proud to come home!

Same Problem
The first person was right! These apartments have little to no noise insolation. You can hear every noise that you neighbors make from walking across the floor, doors opening and closing, music, and yes! Showers and Toilets! If you want to use the pool, forget about it! Too many kids! I went to use the gym, only to wait until two 11 or 12 boys got off the exercise machines. There are a lot of military personnel located in these apartments, which does make it a safe community. Overall, these apartment look great from the outside! But, don't judge a book by it's cover! Not worth the money! The front office personnel need to step up and enforce some rules.

Just moved in
The person who wrote the review below me has a gripe. This was my response to them: I just moved into these apartments. They don't even allow pitbulls on the premesis! For now I can say I've not seen ANY of the complaints so far. I don't know what floor this person lived on, but I'm on the 3rd floor. With that being said I seriously doubt I'll have the same experience. The pool area is beautiful, as well as the club house. I've watched the pool area at night to see if there are any ------ bags living here, SO FAR, there aren't any. Also its common sense that children aren't allowed to play in the middle of the walkway that's a liability, DUH! Also the property manager now is a woman. So you should find solace with that. :-) For those reading this, SO FAR, I give this apartment complex 4.9 out of 5.0 (b/c no place is perfect). Just a thought, how would they know about the paint washing off the walls? I wonder if they used a harsh chemical on the walls b/c their kid has a crayon problem. Those cleaners have a warning posted on the back of the bottle saying DON'T use this on such and such surface. Maybe this person is "not what it seems."

Not What it Seems!
We were told that these apts are very family friendly before we moved in, however as we have lived here there have been many groups of single men moving in and we've had many issues with them. They have been in the cabana/pool area playing beer pong, had a pitbull dog off the leash (an animal that is not allowed on property), they were trying to throw each other over the pool fence, were stumbling around drunk, jumping into the pool drunk almost jumping on my 7 yr old daughter and her friend, they were cussing and threatening and hitting each other, basically taking over the entire cabana and pool area. We reported them to the manager and he said he was sorry and hadn't had a chance to see them as he had been busy, however he had walked past them MULTIPLE times as he showed potential tenants the property. We had had plans to swim and BBQ with friends at the pool but instead ended up leaving for fear of our safety. The apts are beautiful but very poorly constructed. The builder/owner used seemingly the cheapest product/supplies around. The paint washes off the walls, the cabinets dent at the slightest ding, things aren't constructed properly and the "sound proofing" is non-existent!! I can hear my neighbors alarm clocks going off in the morning, hear conversations people are having in their bedrooms and know when my neighbors toilet flushes, their dishwasher/washing machine, dryer are running and can smell their food cooking even with the doors and windows closing. I have become friends with several people in this apt complex and they have ALL experienced the same problems. Our children are not allowed to draw with chalk, take up the sidewalk space or play in the grass. Again these apts are beautiful and have a wonderful pool area but I would never recommend them to anyone!
