I feel like I'm not heard. When I used to live in The Shelby, my requests used to be followed through and resolved to the Z. Example1: I asked for preventive maintenance team to return back on the same day at 3:30 PM and they never did. Never came back the next day and pretended it never happened. Example2: I was told late fee was going to be waived for courtesy but was never done after following up twice. Frustrated? Not the word, a betrayed resident sounds about it. My expectations have kept falling ever since I've moved. Manager I've never met personally and I feel like they don't care. I know Bell Partners also manage The Shelby so I was expecting something along the lines of consistency but boy I was wrong.

For the last year my living experience has decreased, 2 doors down my apt are teo families with so many children the noise is just non stop, would b smarter to put 1 family in different row & in another to keep balanced but now my area is like a daycare/school 24/7, plus all the noisi neighbors the quit time hours should be enforced same with the non smoking policy all those reminder letters dont do anything, would be better to fine them for smoking inside or non respecting quit hours, alsi pets pee in the elecstor or public areas and the manitance staff havecto clean that mess, tenants should b responsible for cleaning after their oets, elevators are not pets restrooms

Greta place to live. Nice pool, gym, convenience store etc. Only downside is the prices have gotten way too high sadly. 2019 about 1700$ with everything included for one bedroom now it's 2300+. So if they can reduce the price it would be the best place in the area.

Good: The staff are all very kind. The facilities staff and -------. They are wonderful. BAD: We have had an ongoing issue since September with -------. They are so loud, fight at all hours of the day, and a very very strong weed smell constantly coming into our apartment from theirs. We have sent countless emails about this and are told that 21 days notices and eviction notes are being sent but without any improvement to the situation. Its ridiculous and unacceptable. We cannot sleep and do not feel comfortable in our home. They are in clear violation of multiple things on the lease and nothing is being done. We would never recommend someone to this apartment at this point. We will begin leaving very bad reviews if nothing changes.

Other than the criminals hanging out in the dog park doing drugs after hours, the smell of weed in some hallways, and the occasional wild parties shaking the room with loud music, it's a pretty welcoming and friendly community.

At first, awesome. Management has since changed and it is not good. They consistently mess up but do not take accountability for it when confronted. If you have questions about something they did, they will not have an answer for you. SO other than the poor management, the apartment is a nice apt with nice amenities.

An older building with some ongoing maintenance issues, but in a very nice neighborhood (Shirlington) with easy access to MetroBus and the wider Metro transit system. The maintenance staff are quite responsive to work orders and there is an on-site gym and convenience store. On-site parking is quite expensive (roughly $100 per month). Overall, a good and relatively affordable rental option for the Shirlington area.

Overall I am satisfied with the building, this has been a nice place to live and the neighbors are friendly. However, this building does have issues. There is a serious mice infestation and we have had issues with water leaks and the floors lifting.

Overall decent location with access to multiple different food options in nearby area. Maintenance staff is very quick to address requests. It's been nice having a gym in the same building, along with laundry rooms on every floor. That being said, I live in a renovated unit, and while the unit is nice overall, has several problems (e.g. warped vinyl flooring, high humidity of unknown cause, smoke smell in bathroom due to shared exhaust vents) that the staff seem unable to help me with. The building is also slightly older, so it inevitably has some strange smells on certain floors, especially on rainy days.

Overall I have had a positive experience, but there are a few things that could be changed or bettered. 1. the rodent problem the building has, I have found a dead mouse in my apartment within a month of moving in so I think more could be done to prevent this. 2. the gym cleanliness and the state of the equipment, the wet wipes are almost always out and half of the treadmills are broken, updating the equipment would be great. 3. the flies in the hallway, it's weird and gross to walk through on the bottom floors plus there's a weird musty smell on the first floor.

Maintenance staff is terrific. I hate the fact the AC gets turned off in early October especially with climate change it is warm longer. Fairly quiet. There is no incentive for long time residents re rate increases.

Living at Shirlington House has been okay. It's certainly the best bang for your buck in the Shirlington area, hands down. However, they are completely focused on revenue over resident satisfaction, and in regards to the quality of the living space, they simply put bandaids over real problems. There was a major pipe burst this year and instead of ripping out the wet walls they simply painted over it. The pipes have not been updated since the 70s, so there is absolutely mold in these walls. But at least they're thick enough to not hear the neighbors.

I am not happy with this building nor its management. We now have mice in our new unit after moving here from a unit on the same floor. Our move in was delayed do to several issues such as front door locks not working, pantry shelves missing screws, all closet doors off tracks, unventilated bathroom and etc.

I've had the worst experience living at Shirlington House. They have roaches they do not have properly running air conditioner no matter how many times I reach out to management and upper management. I am given corporate answers without any action.

This is the worst place I lived. I had issues with the leasing people from the start. I was gaslight and the ------- did not follow up on anything she said. I felt it could be a racism thing. I would tell everyone to stay away and wish I never signed a lease here.

Good building. Would warn that this is an older building so it will have character. When I first moved in a pipe bursted above my unit so I was unable to unpack. Management did not offer to find me a new unit, and made it difficult to look into that option. No discount on rent was offered either. They did repair the leak and damage to my unit within the first 7 days upon my move in. Maintenance staff are responsive and nice folks. Management could be better. Would give overall rating a 3/5 for this property.

Shirlington house apartments are not worth the price. Sign up for the facebook group and you'll read all about the various complaints. The building is very old, air conditioning goes out frequently in summer, bldg water is frequently shut off for repairs for, this building has mice and roaches and my rent increased by $200 every year for the last 3 years, the first year it went up $80. They wont tell you but 2/5 of the elevators have been broken for at least a year and I was told it's too expensive to repair. They need to replace 3/4 treadmill because they breakdown often (probably from water damage) and it takes 3/4 months before they're fix. Management does not like you to put out of service signs on gym equipment, I guess it looks bad when they're giving a bldg tour. Residents leave trash in hall instead of the trash room. Maintenance is very friendly and promptly. I've personally seen mice in my apartment. I love the area I live in but the mice and huge rent increase every year are the reason I won't be renewing my lease.

Great location for accessibility to Shirlington, and has a very nice pool that's large enough to get in and swim some laps. Shirlington's not near a Metro station, but there's a lot of bus lines. Also not too far from the Fairlington Farmer's market.

Applying for a lease online, and applying online to pay rent by autocheck, were *much* too difficult to do, in comparison with online transactions at almost all other businesses. Once I had moved in I was pleased with the environment, although parking is a bit tight. Water shut-offs have been a nuisance.

It has not been a good experience. The building has many flaws, including pests, insects and water damage. I have had to have multiple things within my apartment repaired. It seems like the building made many cosmetic changes to the interior, but did not fix the root issues of the old building. The walls are also thin.

Management is nice and considerate, the apartment is good but it is and old building so things are going to break. The community and activities put on or arranged by the management are a great way for people to meet each other. Everything is clean the hallways and lobby clean, and smells good!

This place is okay but the constant smell of marijuana coming into my apartment from my neighbors is ridiculous. I've emailed about this multiple times but have yet to hear anything back. They don't seem to uphold their policies well here.

I have very much enjoyed my experience in the community. Most impressive being the quick turnaround of any maintenance issues. The desk team is very nice and works quickly to resolve all issues. Good value for location.
