Well where do I begin. I've lived in the Shirlington house apartments for 8 years now. My lease is up in March. Let's just say I will not be renewing it. Since bell partners took over the building it's just never been the same. Rent has skyrocketed. When I moved in to my studio I paid $1240. Now I pay close to $1600. It's not worth people are disrespectful with loud music playing and sometimes management isn't around so you can complain. If you park your car in the garage don't think it's secure because the doors are always open. I still don't understand why. There was a huge renovation however I stuck through only to know my year is almost up. The renovation is so bootleg though nothing is laid down properly and the paint job is terrible. Then you have a the mice and occasional roaches. When I first moved in there was a pest control team that would come every month. Guess that's changed cuz the building is disgusting. In the back parking lot there is an area for all of the trash to collect from the building oh yeah beautiful site to see!!! I'm not surprised if someone sees a rat somewhere. Granite the trash does get picked up everyday just don't have parents or boyfriends see it kind of an embarrassment. The tenants that live here now are definitely younger which is what is bringing the integrity of the building down as well.

Not even one star. Dont come to this place. Its the worse experience ever. The place is dirty, smelly. Management does not care. I've asked them to change the AC filters 2 months ago. When i opened the box i almost die, the filters are unacceptable nasty and dirty. Up to date they did not do a thing. My apartment is infested with roches. Two times there where mice running around the apartment. I'm sick, such bad allergies. Does somebody know some reference of the group of residents that are filing a case?

No issues so far. Leasing office is prompt in response. Interior looks great and is presenting in a way that the rent is suggested. The laundry rooms work consistently. Elevators work appropriately. Gym and gym hallway temperature could be adjusted to the appropriate temperature based on the outside temperature. Overall great experience.

The Community is awesome!!! The renovations were very much needed, still in progess...but it was worth going through what the community went through to get to this point. I love the new fitness center and for the price my apartment after the renovation looks AMAZING and is a steal!!! I would recommend you tour and live here.

My experience is skewed by the renovations by which my clothes and furniture were covered in dust. It was not the most optimal situation. And management did not make it clear how difficult the tome would be. Other than that, people are friendly. I would feel more secure here if the doors were only accessible to residents and permitted visitors and not left open regularly.

I love my apartment and the rent price is comparitvely better than surrounding places. I love the grill area (when it actually has furniture) and the mini dog park. Outside of this, everything else is pretty bad. An old, crumbling building, with mold, mice, bad management, and amenities that you cant use. I am not finding another apartment literally just because I dont want to move all of my things. If the rent price goes up at all on my next lease renewal; that will absolutely be the last straw and I will leave.

Poor customer service, poor building construction. TONS of ongoing renovations that never end and don't seem to be done correctly. Lots of noise, dirt, dust outside the apartments. Inside: nothing works, tons of maintenance issues that are never fixed. Appliances don't work, AC leaks, paint peeling off the walls, cabinets and bathtub.

I have had quite pleasant experience living at Shirlington House, especially with the management staff here. They've been very friendly, kind and helpful. I had issue using my keys some time in the first nights I was here, it was midnight but the security and front desk staff did not hesitate to come out of their way to help me, which I much appreciated. First time I felt like living in a rental community is not just about paying the money in exchange for services. Renovation process is ongoing with some inconveniences but management has shown thorough consideration in helping ease those inconveniences. Unlike what is said about the lack of parking space on one of the Yelp reviews online, additional parking spaces have been made available and I've never had trouble finding a parking spot for my car!

Great community with wonderful layout. However, the construction leaves much to be desired, albeit a bit confusing and with no end in sight. I would recommend cleaning up the staff at the front desk as many are disinterested in genuinely helping tenants with small issues in the building. It is a great start but the building does require a lot of work.

Experience has been awful. They have been going through renovations since I moved in which was not a problem for me, however the day I moved in (July) my AC unit leaked and destroyed a quarter of my flooring. Ive contacted the leasing office so many times about this issue and to have it fixed, Ive lost count. They use the renovations as an excuse to why its taken so long to get to my request, which is unacceptable. Its now been 7 WEEKS and no progress has been made to fixing these issues. They originally told me the most time is should take is 4 weeks. Ive had TWO appointments scheduled where I was told they would be fixing the AC and flooring and yet, nothing was done. My apartment hasnt been below 78 degrees since I moved in, most of the days is around 80 and forget about turning on the oven or cooking, it jumps to 85. Yes the renovations look nice but I would stay away unless you like living in a headache everyday.

I absolutely love the location and the great views we get from our apartment. The units are spacious and it is a relatively quiet community at night. When the gym, market, and parking were accessible it was pretty perfect but with all this construction it has been a drag. If you work from home it might not be the best fit for you until the work on the building ends because it is a lot louder during the work day. Here's hoping for a speedy finish to get back to our lovely way of living.

I has everything been a good experience so far, been here for only a month. My only complaint will be not having the gym open yet and the not knowing when construction will be over. It has a great location and I like the fact that shirlingotn village is steps away from the building.

The renovation process has been long and drawn out and featured no small amount of inconvenience. However, given that it is mostly done, moving into a renovated apartment is not bad. They are nice. Do note: some of the amenities listed such as the gym and the convenience store are not available at the time of writing. Also, their phone message mentions a "clubhouse" amenity which has never to my knowledge existed on the property, so, take that as you will?

Convenient apartment complex located in a growing area. Currently remodeling to provide updated amenities and services. Planned neighborhood community offers great restaurants, grocery and entertainment. Shirlington is accessible via highway and local streets to Arlington and the DC area.

I've had mold in my apartment for over 3 weeks. No one has done anything to fix the problem and I have a newborn in the house who was born with lung prematurity. I have beg for them to put a dehumidifier. I finally got one after 3 weeks of complaining. This is pure neglect. Now there needs to be more work done. After the apartment was inspected AGAIN about 1 day ago and the dehumidifier was put in . Anyone in their right knows right well it will never happen. And I was right! I am still sitting here heartbroken worrying even more about what is going to happen next with my newborn baby. And if we will have a home tomorrow

The rental rate and the location are excellent for the DC metro area. Easy access to 395 makes it ideal for commutes to work in an otherwise traffic heavy environment. Many utilities are included in the rent, including electric, making it easy to manage. The property has parking lots for car owners which are pretty secure.

The location is great, windows, etc are great! However, the building is very old and poorly maintained. Specifically, the AC/heating units break once a week and building management has failed to identify and implement a permanent solution. Overall, if you can overlook the management and maintenance shortcomings, the quality of life here is decent for the price.

I hate living here and cant wait to move out next week. The staff is very unprofessional, they have persistently refused to have the work that is necessary to repair my floor done. The building is disgusting, with stains and unknown wet spots on the carpet and trash littering the halls. The apartment I was given does not match the floor plan of the apartment I had agreed to rent, and is an apartment that I would have definitely not rented.

As previously stated Shirlington House was an ideal place to live when there was not any renovation started. However now it has become a very difficult, stressful, and unsafe place to live. I love my apartment and the look even before the renovation and wish I can take it else where with me far away from the noise and inconvenience of Shirlington house

Disappointing. Poor communications from management makes the construction and constant inconveniences such as little AC/heat and constant water shut-offs absolutely unbearable. I didn't have AC ALL SUMMER.

Pros: -The location is great - close to Shirlington Village where there is a ton to do -The renovated apartments look really nice on the inside -some apartments are getting washers and dryers (but this comes with maintenance while you are living there, sometimes they knock on my door 3-4 times per day) -residents seem to have a good sense of community and help each other out Cons: -slow response time to maintenance requests - washers often not working on multiple floors, loss of hot water on a regular basis, A/C does not pump very cold (hard to get apartment below 75 degrees) -A/C and heat cannot be on at the same time so A/C wasn't turned on until early may - my apartment got up to 88 degrees one night. -Renovations occur while you are living in the apartment (kitchen and bathroom - apparently a two week process) -deceptive leasing process and lack of communication once lease is signed

I have nothing good to say about Shirlington House. You wouldn't want a review from me, as it would not reflect favorably on you. Worst apartment renting experience that I have ever had. Poor communication and organization. Management is not responsive to concerns. Unsafe living conditions (mice, construction, renovations). Lack of parking. Huge rental increases.

I enjoy living at Shirlingtonhouse. I like the spacious apartment, large windows and great view from the 9th floor. The regular staff are very friendly and responsive. The location is wonderful - walking distance to shops, theater, library, grocery store, bank, post office and bus station. Lots of trails around for walking/skating/biking.
