Location!!!!
This community has the best location of any apartments in the area. I moved to Fairfax from DC about a year ago and have been extrememly happy with my apartment. I can choose between atleast 3 different grocery stores within 2 miles, Best Buy, Marshalls, and DSW are within walking distance. Fair Oaks Mall is right down 50 and ramps to 66 and 495 take less than 10 minutes to reach. The location was my main reason for choosing Fairfax Square, but i am happy to say it's been almost a year and i still have nothing to complain about.

Fairfax Square is the best!
Fairfax Square Apartments is the best we have stayed in over 36 years. I have rented in about 24 different places and know. From the first day we walked in, we knew we were family. The maintenace staff is the best and responds instanteously to almost every dilemma. It is quiet; safe (at lease we feel that way as does UPS); and a hidden oasis in the trees. If we weren't building a home, I would stay here.

Pleasurable and wonderful!!!
What can I say but the title should say it all!! Wonderful! Great place to live especially if you have children. It took me by surprise to find such a wonderful community to move in to, and the perks are pretty good.... Club House and pool, lovely grounds that are well maintained, safe area that is adjacent to just about everything. Started out in an apartment and moved to a townhome; can't say anything but ALL GOOD!!! Leasing process was such a breeze I couldn't believe it. The staff is outstanding from the office personnel to the maintenance techs with who are very kind, concerned, courteous and respectful; truly such wonderful people to deal with WHICH is also a plus if you are a SERIOUS tenant. You have a question or a complaint, taken care of immediately--that's rare! I would highly recommend Fairfax Square to any SERIOUS individual looking for an outstanding community oriented place to call home.

Great Place to Call Home!
We've been extremely happy with the customer service not only from the leasing staff but also from the maintenance staff. The professionality of the employees, yet the friendly atmosphere really drew us in when we first started our lease. Anytime a problem has come up we've had an immediate answer from maintenance (and we've submitted requests by both phone and email at different times). We like the property, the proximity to all of the shops and restaurants as well as 495 and Virginia Route 50, we enjoy the workout facilities and pool (in the warmer months), and love that the leasing office provides community activities for both kids and adults. Our apartment is great for our "first place". Depending on where we are as far as our job locations, we would potentially be interested in purchasing a new home with Van Metre.

Great Location! Happy Living Here!
I don't really have to much to say about Fairfax Square except for my family and I have been here going on 4 years and this is the best community we have lived at in NOVA. Parking is great, beautiful pool and 24 hour fitness center on site. We will definetly be renewing for another year. Cheers.

Good at first but things got bad
I lived in the apartments for a year and had very few issues. We had bugs, but we were ground level and backed up to the woods so that can be expected. The unit was decently nice, with the few complaints being a small kitchen, a small washer/dryer (half size), and crappy closets where the doors keep falling off the tracks. This was fixed by having them put in sliding doors instead. THEN we moved to a bigger unit on the other side of the complex. Almost immediately we had issues of noise complaints. We could hear every foot step the people above us made, but we couldn't do anything about it (I mean, be real... it's an apartment, you will hear some noise, and there isn't much you can do about walking). In return we got complained on many times for anything from loud music, loud tv, and playing musical instruments. I'm sorry but when you're wathcing HOUSE and you get complained about that the show is too loud, that's just crazy! Anyway the big issue when we moved in was also that this unit, unlike the one before, wasn't like the model at all. The kitchen was much bigger (which is nice) but the appliances, cabinets, and counters were not as nice. We couldn't see the unit ahead of time becuase it was occupied, and they charged us a fee to 'transfer' to the other unit. Now our lease is up in a few months. We want to stay becuase of the nice grounds (aside from the people who don't clean up after their dogs... jerks), nice pool, a great gym (especially for an apartment complex), GREAT maintenance crew (as in, all hours of the night and always willing to help), and mostly friendly staff (I'd say about half of them are nice). That said, we will be moving becuase we are constantly being harassed by the people above us even at reasonable hours. This past weekend someone called the police on us. Why? We were playing a board game and were LAUGHING TOO LOUDLY (at 8:30pm!!). The police said we were doing nothing wrong, so it was fine, but the point is that you hear a lot of noise and people don't understand that the noise goes both ways. This place is a good value, but don't have a lot of people over (or even just a few), and don't plan on listening to music or watching TV, especially if you have anything in the form of a sound system (even cheap computer speakers!!).

LOVE IT!!
I have been living here for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. I am a Mason student and the commute is not bad at all, just a quick drive down Roberts Rd. I have an age range of neighbors but they are all so nice and welcoming. There is always a good amount of parking right near my building. The office staff is great and were very helpful during my move and lease signing. The mainenance staff is amazing and they fix things right away. They even call after everything is fixed to make sure you are satisfied and that there are no more problems. The grounds are very pretty especially in the fall because there are so many trees around the neighborhood. The pool is huge and beautiful. The fitness center is great since it is open all night! I've made a lot of friends here because there's so many people that are my age. I am so happy I found Fairfax Square. Everyone in the community is so friendly. I hope to be here for a few more years while I finish out the rest of college.

I Highly Recommend
The first time my friends and I visited Fairfax Square we knew this was the place we wanted to live. Matthew Christopher was the leasing consultant that assisted us if finding our new home. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with our new place and that the whole moving process went smoothly. We love how close our apartment is to George Mason University. If you are looking for a quality apartment that is in a central location then we highly recommend Fairfax Square Apartments!

very happy here!
I was very satisfied with how my introduction to and eventually move in took place. Matthew Christopher was the leasing consultant I went through and he always kept me well informed and has called several times to make sure I'm still happy with my decision to move. He's helped with the few minor maintenance problems I needed taken care of as well. I would highly recommend Fairfax square apartments to any of my friends and co-workers who were looking at moving to the Fairfax/Burke area.

The place for you!
I really enjoy living here at FFx Square. The staff was very helpful during my moving process. I was very impressed with how quick and efficient the maintenance team is here. They are always willing to go above and beyond to help you out. The supervisor Rick was up at 5am plowing snow to make sure that the roads and sidewalks here were clear. Thank you Rick! The property is in a central location that is close to the main highways and shopping malls. If you are looking for a quality living experience then FFx Square is the place for you!

Good place to call home!
I moved to this area about five years and I have to admit this is the best place I have lived at since moving to Northern Virginia area. I work in tysons and the location has made my commute much easier than I had before. This place is very pet friendly, and there is plenty of areas to walk my dog. Open parking is always good a great feature also.

Lived here 3 years and still happy!
Living at Fairfax Square has been an great experience for me and I really like this community. The grounds are in great shape and I feel safe walking the community at all times. Over the past 3 years I have had a couple maint issues and the problems were fixed right away. The 24 hour hotline is a great program! Thanks for keeping me happy Fairfax Square!

This Place Is A JOKE
From the outside Van Metre's Fairfax Square Apartments look really nice...live there for a week and you will learn that you are being ripped off, taken advantage of, screwed over and the wool has been pulled over your eyes! Cheap everything! Cheap doors that break or split apart, cheap paint job, and low grade flooring. The microwave will crack and split as will your countertops in the kitchen. The plumbing is awful. You can hear everything your neighbors do. Cracks will form in your ceiling if you have someone who is a heavy walker living above you. The office staff could care less what happens to you or what grievances you have. They don't listen, don't care and no matter what happens will not take any money off of anything! Stay away. Oh and unless you enjoy tracking dog poop into your house I wouldn't live here. No one cleans up after their dogs, they let them poo on the sidewalk! And even if they do get the mess into a black plastic bag, people just throw those bags under bushes or leave them around so you can step on them too! YAY!

My experience good and bad
We love living at Fairfax Square. The scenery is beautiful and the commnity is safe and quiet. I agree 100% that the walls are VERY thin. We use the second bedroom as an office and it's difficult to get anything done because the family below us are always fighting and slamming doors. We are woken up every night from their baby crying. We just dealt with all of that as part of apartent living but after a month I could't take the guitar hero blasting at 9 am. I called management and within 5 mins. of my call it stopped and they have not done it since. The people above us also have a small child and when he would play on the kitchen floor it sounded like our ceiling was going to cave in. I simply went upstairs and told them how loud it was and they were very respectful. I think you either get lucky with nice neighbors here or you will be unhappy. After living here for a few months we started seeing bugs. Living in apartments for almost 9 years and never having a bug problem we weren't sure what they were. So I sent management an e-mail at 10 PM asking them to inspect the problem. The manager was at our door at 9am the next morning and told us they were roaches coming from another apartment that was not kept clean. They stayed on the problem until it was gone. We had numerous check-ups and both my husband and I were SHOCKED at the wonderful customer service. They have taken every maintence issue serious and responded within a day or two at the most. I would recommend this complex to anyone I know! Just be aware that the walls are very thin. You will hear others conversations in your apartment especially in the bathroom for some reason and also in the building hallways. Management is wonderful and very friendly. They will work with you on any issue. Wish you well!

My favorite place!!
I've been living here for a little over a year now and haven't come across any problems. The management here is amazing! Whenever I stopped by there main office, they treated me like family. I'm currently taking some part time classes in Mason and very pleased with the commute. People in this community are really nice as well. I give these guys a 5 star rating!

Love it here!
My family and I have lived at Fairfax Square since February of 2008. We absolutely love it here. The neighbors are fantastic and it has a community atmosphere about it. Everyone is kind and helpful. The manager, Asma along with her assistant Sheila are always helpful, professional and courteous. They've assisted me with issues that don't even pertain to the apartment, and they have done so with an attitude which makes one feel as if they're friends and not just property managers. The maintenance supervisor Rick Dvorak, along with the maintenance technicians George and Speedy are really "on point" when it comes to any issues that may arise. The grounds are well maintained, and the gym and swimming pool are a very attractive attribute to this wonderful complex. The place is just great, and we truly love living here.

BE HONEST
Good at first but things got bad...., TELL THE TRUTH AND BE HONEST! I think you are bitter and hopefully will not retaliate against myself or others who have complained. Treat people the way you want to be treated yourself. Lastly, to make it clear, what happened prior to the police showing up that prompted you to be READY for them?? Fairfax Square is a great place! Office, Maintenance, etc. ALL GOOD!! My review is not anonymous. Wish nothing but the best for you.. Good at frst but things got bad!

Of the 12 townhomes i've rented this is the worst
I travel alot for work and have lived in a number of states and locations. These apartments were slapped together and are of terribly poor quality materials. The walls are so thin you can hear conversations of the people who live below you and next door to you. The applicances will work for about a week at a time and then its a two week wait to get anything you need repaired. I am a bit of a neat freak and yet there were still insect and rodent problems as well. I have seen roaches that come from the cracks in the walls and had small field mice come through the gap in the door. The maintance staff is extreamly rude and arn't able to actually fix any problems that you WILL have. All "fixes" are duct tape type patches to much larger problems. If you must live here TAKE PICTURES WHEN YOU MOVE IN!!! I've spoke with some of my neighbors and it seems that every time some one moves out they find "damage" (aka staines that were there during move in ect.) to thier units and they charge for everything. The office staff is extreamly argumentative and not very good at thier jobs. If you are going to check an apt. or townhouse out ask to see the one you are going to live in not a model. They say these places are pet friendly but have lead paint in the walls (Yes, you do have to sign a form acknowledging that you know thier is lead paint). If you have to go to the main office for any reason prepair to wait forever for an answer. I don't think there is a single person in that office who is qualified for thier position. Nobody seems to know where any thing is dont be suprised if when you go to check out an apt. or townhome if they realize some one still lives there as they get to the door. For the price you pay here you can get a MUCH nicer place a few miles down the road. Save your sanity, save your money, and save your nights sleep find another place to live. Trust me you do NOT want to live here. The only plus of the whole place is the grounds are fair and location is pretty good.

Supper Management and Maintenance Staff
I am new here at Fairfax Square. Been here for about 1.5 years and have loved it from the beginning. From the Property Manager Asmad, to the Maintenance staff Speedy and George. Last night I got locked inside my apartment and called the 800 help line. George showed up in about 15 minutes to fix the problem and get me out. Way to Go George! There are so many more people here at Fairfax Square that make this a very friendly plance to live. Not only does this have great people on the property, but stores are all over the place. Even within walking distance. Schools and Colleges are in the area and medical facilities are close by. I love this place and the management! Way to go Asmand and staff! Keep up the great work! Oh did I say that they have a great pool too? The gym is supper also they have cardio machines and weights and I use them all!! Such a great and quiet place to live you got to check it out!!!

Insane!
If you truly value your own sanity you will not move here. The office staff turnover rate is high. I lived here for five years and have recently moved out....FINALLY!! The office staff, and maintenance are fine, but people do not move into apartments because the office staff is friendly! If you read reviews stating that the office staff are happy, friendly people, then they are the ones who probably wrote the review! The noise level here is extremely high with very thin walls. If you do decide to move here then be prepared to move out when your lease is up. The walls are thin and you can even hear your neighbor in the bathroom...yuck! Be careful of your conversations in your own apartment because the neighbors can hear them. This place is like living in a hotel/motel. It never really felt like a home. Very high Asian population so be prepared for the cooking smells....they are vented into the bathroom. If you choose a middle apartment you will have to deal with neighbors above, below and on both sides, so be prepared for a very noisy living experience. Our main issue was with the paino and violin lessons. The lease policy states that noise is not allowed between the hours of 11pm and 7am, but also if it can be heard in other apartments, then it is too loud....the leasing office DOES NOT CARE and does not adhere to this part of the lease. If Van Metre company would just spend a few dollars on the inside soundproofing then this would be a great place to live. The size is adequate, the location is great and I had no issues with safety or the grounds. The appliances in the kithen were new and nice. Maintenance did come in a timely manner, but you will probably have to ask them back to fix the same problem a couple months later. The toilet runs about every 30 minutes on its own. Maintenance rarely replaces parts, they just "duct tape" them. But I guess that is job security. Parking is fine, but late at night it can get kinda hairy. Again, lighting and safety were no issues. Out of the five years we lived at Fairfax Square, only one vehicle was broken into, that I know of. If you do decide to move in, ask the staff to show you a real apartment and not the model....BIG difference. Also, choose a place away from the office....more parking. All I can say is.....GOOD LUCK!!!

One of the most important things I look for when selecting a community to rent at is the people managing the community since they are the ones to turn to when you are having a problem. The team here is the friendliest and responsive I have experienced. Our AC broke down toward the end of the summer in the evening and maintenance came to resolve the issue within one hour of my phone call. This is truly remarkable since this is a fairly large community with probably well over 500 units. The following day Dan H. from the office called to verify that our unit was in working order and if there was anything else we needed. Dan has been most helpful and even went out of his way to call Verizon for me to help get a question I had answered. This is a great community that is very safe, has a nice gym and pool and is close to the CUE bus line. Definitely the best choice in Fairfax.
