Great community to live in!
Overall great staff support and maintenance issues addressed with appropriate urgency. We looked at all of the apartment communities in this area and take our word for it, you'll be glad you went with Fairfax Square. They really go the extra mile, from the leasing experience but also the living experience as well!

Customer care seems to be really important to them
Our stay was very pleasurable, we were not happy we had to move to the west coast. We wish Van Metre communities were there!!! The apartment facilities are very good and though they are an older, established community, you can see the maintenance team really takes pride in their community!

Amazing quality of service
This is ideally an amazing place to live. Everyone from maintenance is truly professional and hardworking. There have been issues with my apartment and they have attended them very promptly. I love the resident events. The front desk in the leasing office to the manager everyone is very friendly and warm. I have never felt ignored or mislead by the management. They are very open and honest in every way. I have lived in different properties and have dealt with some major rude management who dont give a damn about the resident satisfaction. This management goes out of their way to satisfy and follow up with all the residents. I Love living here and will love to recommend this place to all who wants to be treated with respect and care. This will be truly my home for a long time.

I just got a bonus for referring my friend to live here!
I am very happy here at Fairfax Square. I told my friend to come live here and when she moved in, I got a referral bonus! I was excited because I was merely sharing my love of this place with a friend and got paid for it!

For me a place to call home
Despite this is an old property, it is very well managed, very well maintained. Every one in leasing office is very personable and professional. I moved here recently, but every time i had an issue, it was resolved in a very prompt manners. The Management team always went out there way to resolve issues. The resident events are very well planned and managed. The recent pool party was one of the best parties i have ever been to. The property manager Asma Mahmud is doing a great job in running the show. i have an issue in regards to my apartment, I sat down with her. She was extremely professional, Courteous, genuinely concerned about the matter. she had the right maintenance guys come in and fix the issue with in 16 hours. I was a bit rude to her in regards to my issue, but she was extremely polite to me.

Couldn't ask for better place to live--my kids love the place!
I was given a short period to find a place to live that would accommodate my wife, our furniture and centrally located for the places I might work. After looking at over 50 places, I called Fairfax Square after receiving a positive response to my email query. I talked with Stephanie on the phone. She politely and professionally told me that they had no 3 BDRs but would I be interested in a 2 BDR w/a den. Not thinking, I declined. She realized my situation and probably heard the frustration in my voice. She quickly offered several other alternatives some to include other apartment complexes that were sure to be competitors. I was so impressed how she was more concerned about our needs than trying to get a "sale." Well, her compassion stayed with me and I remembered her offer of a 2 BDR w/a den. So we came and viola, got the place. During our course of getting approved and looking at the apartment, I was so impressed with everyone's professionalism and making us feel a part of the Van Meter family. Mohammed and Sara really were great and having Johncie as our rep really sets the tone. I can say without the personal touch of your employees, we would have never thought twice about Fairfax Square.

So happy! Awesome Maintenance team
Our experience with the head maintenance supervisor Rick has been totally satisfactory! He has been on top of every situation that may have come about, he removes his shoes upon entry of the Townhouse to not soil the carpet without being asked, and most impotant upon notification of the said problem, he get things done in a timely fashion. He is very professional and assuring. Fairfax Square Apts is blessed to have him, as i have heard raving reviews from other tenants as to the same in direct result to Rick.

Excellent Maintenance Team
I want to commend and thank Rick for the wonderful job that he and his service team has done! They are extremely efficient as well as friendly. They truly go the extra mile for the residents making sure that the job is thoroughly completed before leaving. Yesterday, while doing a routine filter change they noticed that there was a problem with my AC and it was fixed before I was even aware of the issue! It was greatly appreciated! Thanks service team!

If you like to be ignored, move in!
Fairfax Square is an OK place to live, as long as you don't ever have to deal with the leasing office. Once you do, you will be surprised at every visit with a new policy change that someone forgot to mention beforehand. Renewing your lease will be the biggest hassle in the world, mainly because of the incompetent leasing agents. They sure seem nice, but once you sit down with them, they are often rude. They have a way of making any issue your fault, regardless of the fact its the office's screw up. Also, don't waste your time trying to talk to someone in charge, they will give you the run around and you never get to speak to someone with any authority to address any complaints. Will be moving out once the lease is up.

BEST apt. complex I have ever lived in!
Never in my entire life have I been more impressed by the service and customer care as I have been since living in the Fairfax Square townhouses. On the RARE occasion that I have a problem, maintenance has tended to the issue in not only a timely fashion but a friendly one as well. Rick, the service manager at Fairfax square clearly understands the value of a happy resident. On one occasion my AC broke (after office hours) and within the hour Mark, who was on call for the night, showed up with a smile on his face and had my AC working again. When the water temperature in my shower was off, Mark and Rick stopped at nothing to fix it and not once made me feel that I was an inconvenience. Everyone who works for the company is extremely friendly greeting each resident either in the leasing office or around the development. The complex is always kept in impeccable condition which is again a compliment to Rick s strong service team. I have lived all over the east coast in 10 different apts. and never have I been so satisfied! The townhouses are spacious, cozy and quiet and parking is easily accessible! I would recommend Fairfax square to ANYONE Thank you Rick and Mark for making me life easier!

Very happy here!
I moved in a little over a month ago and have been 100% pleased with both the quality of the property and the quality of the service I've received. My apartment had only extremely minor maintenance issues when I moved in (like slightly lumpy caulking in the bathroom), but they were fixed within 24 hours of my reporting them. Every person I've dealt with in the leasing office has been unfailingly accessible, friendly and helpful. The first time I had a "real" maintenance issue - saw a few bugs in the kitchen - I sent an email to the leasing office on a Saturday afternoon, and got a response in THREE MINUTES. I was told an exterminator would be out the following Tuesday. He came when expected - but also a second, earlier time, on the first business day following my email. The problem was totally wiped out after one email from me. The second time I had a maintenance issue - the closet door was loose - it was fixed the same day I reported it, and about 2 weeks later someone called to make sure I was satisfied with the repairs and that everything was still in good shape. I've lived in apartments all over the DC area for 15 years, and I have NEVER had such quick and conscientious maintenance service! General communications - about property-wide maintenance issues, etc. - come from management regularly and via multiple routes (i.e. hard copy and e-mail). I feel informed, comfortable, and certain that the property management is constantly working to improve the property. I love my apartment too - it's a comfortable and peaceful place to be. I'm very happy here! I've been recommending Fairfax Square to anyone who will listen.

Depends on what you're looking for
I moved here this year and i dont find this place that appealing. We have had problems with this place since the first day we moved in literally. We had an apartment reserved, we looked inside it had baby roaches. We asked for another apartment, we moved into another unit. The stove was broken, a few weeks later we had to get the microwave replaced. Our toilet is leaking now very slowly. And to add on top of it all they keep asking for a deposit we were told we did not have to pay when we first moved in and then that amount keeps changing itself. The only good aspect is that it is an animal community and the staff is generally nice. But the complex itself is about a D . I would not recommend this to anyone who takes the full advantage out of where they live or stays home alot. Maybe to someone who isnt home much or looking for a quiet cheaper residence.

Good place to call home
I've been living at Fairfax Sq for 2 years now and I'm happy to call this place home. Though, it was a bumpy start because a woman in the leasing office was very rude, mislead me on more than one occasion, but was thankfully removed. The leasing staff now is great, strong and reliable. Some pros are the grounds- they're landscapers here frequently (which can be annoying on a Saturday morning lol) but it always looks nice, the buildings well kept, the floorplans are charming, the leasing team/maintenance staff, neighbors/tenants are quiet for the most part, and the club house/gym are great. Just a few Cons...The Rent isn't cheap and in my opinion a little over-priced- even though the 1950's/60's buildings have been renovated/vamped, they're still old buildings. The Gas bill situation is very unfortunate. It's very expensive and I would really suggest that Van Metre look into a different system. I think my highest bill was in January, $180 for a 1BDRM...My parent's town house's bill was cheaper by $70...I don't see how that's fair...Also, in the summer/spring time last year, I had several bees and hornets enter my apt. through the windows, which I'm not look forward to again. And a few new people have moved into my building recently who are a little obnoxious when they have parties, like leaving red plastic cups behind our building, being very loud and parking in the parking lot, when their guests should be parking in the public lot (I hardly ever see anyone get towed, even though you need a sticker to park and have towing hours). I'm in my 20's so I respect the right to have a good time, but it's been a little annoying- that's apartment living. Over-all, this has been a very good experience. I hope to be able to stay here for at least a few more years, depending on rent increases.

SUMMER ANTS.....WINTER ROACHES!
I have lived in Fairfax Sqaure going on 2 years now, im only 20 so you know my standards for a house arent that high and Fairfax sqaure does a great job masking its problems. beautiful buildings, pool, shrubs, but step inside one of the apartments and it goes down hill. Appliances are old, there was a stain on the carpet they had covered up, the doors to multiple closets fell off within the 1st week of me moving in, i called to have them reset and they fell off again when he left.my laundry machine broke and it took them almost a month to fix it Now for the pest problems,I can almost guarntee from the multiple tenants I talked to, that you will have a swarm of ants like I did during the summer, and Tons of roaches during the winter. It is disgusting. all the while im paying 1600 a month. NOT WORTH IT, im moving out ASAP!

Moved here a few weeks ago
I have lived in several communities in No. Va, and I can say after nearly 3 weeks here, that I believe this one may be my favorite. The rental office and maintenance staff are very friendly and professional, and truly seem to be concerned about your happiness at this complex. The maintenance staff has been very prompt in responding to my requests, and the rental office always seems happy to see me when I drop in to pay rent, or indulge in one of their wonderful, free cookies which they bake daily. The apartment itself (I have a 1 BR) is very nice, and the grounds are beautiful. So far, I have found all of my neighbors to be friendly and respectful of the others near them. Grant it, I have only been here less than 3 weeks, but so far, I am very impressed with the community, my apartment, and the location of this complex is great (Trader Joe's near by!). No apartment complex is perfect; yes, sometimes I can hear my neighbors for a little while talking, or I can hear the pipes when someone is taking a shower. But this is such a minor "issue," and in my opinion (after owning 2 homes), you need to be flexible with apartment life -- you will at times hear the neighbors, but don't sweat the small stuff, as they say. I would definitely recommend this complex; I really think you'll be pleased.

NOISY
Doesn't matter if you live on the bottom or the top floors here. You will have to deal with noisy neighbors. On the one hand, the walls and ceilings are paper-thin so some amount of noise is absolutely unavoidable. But that won't stop people from blasting their music up to unimaginable volumes, and I'm not only complaining about college-age students. I dealt with a professional couple who ignored complaints from the office, the police, and directly from me and continued to the volume on their stereo and television. Don't expect the leasing office to be much of a help. Try to find an apartment complex that's built a little better and has a better office-renter relationship rating.

Still Satisfied after 5 years!!!
My husband and I have lived in Fairfax Square for the last five years, and could not find a better place to live. Fortunately, we are purchasing our first home on Thursday, but its with a heavy hart that we leave Fairfax Square Apartments. The last five years have been great years. The community at Fairfax Square cannot be beat and the maintenance, specifically Speedy and George, have been phenomenal. Whenever we've had issues and concerns they've been addressed right away, and I feel like I am leaving a very special community. Having lived in small towns my entire life, I as a little concerned about the anonymity and crime that a big city has. Within a week of living at Fairfax Square all my concerns were alleviated. I've felt very comfortable walking at 3 in the morning, gotten to create lasting friendships with neighbors and frequently participated in improptu neighborhood parties, largely instigated by the monthly apartment complex parties that bring neighbors together. Your part of a community here at Fairfax Square, not just a rent check, but a community participant. I will miss the Fairfax community and appreciate the friendly office staff. Natasha our community leader genuinely cares about you, and Sheila Ehsan the assistant manager works her tale off to make sure the rules are followed but renters are happy. Like any place, there will be some annoyances living in community houses (after 10 years of living in community housing, my husband and I are ready to take the next step) but I will miss the community I'm leaving behind and would recommend this apartment complex to anyone who wants a quiet, sage, friendly place to live.

Lived here for 5 years and renewing!
I have been staying at this apartment complex for 5 years. Natasha Kasuri and Johanna Salazar have been extremely helpful dealing with my concerns. They send me emails quite frequently to enquire on our stay. This year I have had the best management experience in all my five years here. They are very helpful and timely in response in fixing any maintenance issues. The maintenance staff is very friendly and act immediately to any types of issues. New management is very friendly and have frequent resident functions at the clubhouse to interact with the community.

Humble Stay
I love living here. The management is great, friendly, and fast to respond to my inquiries. The maintenance team is on time with every issue. I have only had one and that was been resolved within an hour of my call. One thing I know so far is that I will be renewing my lease once it is up. A great thing that Van Metre has is that you have the option to turn your money rent into money toward the purchase price to a new home. That was the key thing that I love about here. Overall my experience has been wonderful and I have referred a couple of friends.

Hmm, Some days Good, others not so much
Well, I guess I would have to say I will be looking for somewhere else to live once my lease is up, but for a number of different reasons. Lets go with negatives first. As alot of reviews have said, the management team is sometimes wonderful, other times, they act like they have better things to do. The parking situation is kind of lame, being that if you ever had relatives drive in, and lets say they brought two cars, you would only have one pass, and the other car would have to go drive down the road somewhere outside the grounds and park. I think it wouldnt be thaaat hard to assign, in some of the less packed parking lots, visitor parking spots or something like that, maybe you should be able to obtain another parking pass in those type of situations. Another thing people have said is BUGS. I would have to agree, we have to kill a spider or centipede or some other type of bug at least twice a week. its not the end of the world, but it just becomes a hassle. Now with the colder weather, we have seen a cockroach in our kitchen on two different occasions. Maybe they are moving into the house for the warmth? We keep our kitchen very clean to avoid this type of thing. My last complaint is'nt really FFS's fault, but my appt happens to be in a low lying area, so the ground outside is always very wet and the sun never actually drys it up, the mosquitoes were horrible this past summer, and the wet, puddly ground just made it worse. The apt next door would always flood, i dont know how bad it was on the inside, but i would always see them pumping water out from around his front door. So I guess i would say for potential residents, make sure your appt isnt at the bottom of a slope, or in a place that looks like it stays very wet all the time. The one positive thing I would have to say is the clubhouse is very nice looking, the pool is great, and the grounds are quite well maintained.

Honest Review (pros & cons)
My experience with the Fairfax Square Apartments has had both ups & downs. The move in process is very easy, they worked with us on credit issues and we ended up having to pay no deposit which was a nice expense to not have to worry about. It only took a day or two to do the application and sign a lease. They were able to answer all of our questions up front. The leasing office/clubhouse is very nice as is the 24 hour gym and the pool. The only thing with the gym is that the secure entrance at night is never on. You are given a little electronic pass to wave in front of the door. However the gym is never locked. Also the pool, while fairly large and pretty clean is only 3 feet across the whole pool. There is a mix of families, college students, young professionals, and older couples. While this is nice it also creates some problems. For example, there is a townhouse that consistently has parties every weekend. Where as we had 1 party (it was a going away party)and were hit with 4 noise violations. The reason why, beacause we are surrounded by 2 elderly couples and a family. It was a weekend, there were 15 total people in the apartment and it was over by 1 am on a Saturday night. The raging parties in the townhouses go til all hours and the kids leave drunk. Example: My friend's car was backed into, the driver left of course, and there was a drunken mess of throw up all over the parking lot area. Also once you are hit with a noise violation, the policy is extremely strict mainly due to Fabian. You will be evicted if you receive more than one. This is dumb because you could easily give many people noise violations. Younger adults tend to be more understanding of noise. It is a very close APARTMENT complex. If these people need peace and quiet they need to live by themselves, not surrounded on all sides. We have had the family above us stomp early in the morning 6-7 am. The kids can be heard yelling in the hallway. We would never give them a noise violation for this because we understand the close living situation. The leasing people are half very nice and half snobby and rude. I'm not sure how they can act so snobby and look down upon you when you are half their age and affording such a nice area. I come from a very well to family and have never been treated with such disrespect. I expected more from the manager Fabian. I may be a young adult, but I certainly do not look down upon others despite age, race, sex or anything else. I hope he reads this and reconsiders how he handles residents. The grounds are pretty well kept the only thing I wish was that the trash pick up had different locations as it is not at all attractive to see a pile of trash bags on corners and curbs. They do try to keep up their overall appearance, which shows in my opinion. There are always lawn people out in the morning and they just repainted the doors and parking lines. The apartments are a little more pricey in my opinion, but I am from the Great Falls area, so I do not know Fairfax as well. I think that it is pretty spacious overall, but I do think that if you do not have the master bedroom (14 x 14) you are paying way too much. The other rooms are only 10 x 10. The master is very spacious with a walk in closet and a private bathroom. It also has 2 large windows. My only cons regarding the master bedroom is that it is always 5-10 degrees warmer than the rest of the apartment. Also we had an ant issue with one of the windows upon moving in, the leasing office offered no help. We took care of it ourself, setting traps and spraying the windows. As for the appliances it is nice having a washer & dryer in the unit, however they are the stacked ones, so they are very small. They should update them as they do not work very well and you cannot fit a queen size comforter or sheets in there. I take them to my parents house instead. The kitchen is fairly nice, with white cabinets and white appliances. The fan in the apartment is in the dumbest place to be honest. It is in the "dining room" area where it does not circulate any air. It should be in the living room area instead. Lastly, the balcony is a lot bigger than I expected. They have also enforced new rules, such as you cannot keep a bike on the balcony or to a tree. There are no bike racks to put your bike on, so our roommate keeps his in our dining room against a wall. It is quite a nusiance and eyesore. All in all, it is worth living here through out the hassles. I believe the biggest issue is the top management.
