great for the price and good management

I've lived here for about 14 months and have been happy. we rent in a 3-br townhouse. parking has never been an issue, but those with motorcycles may want to look elsewhere; mine was stolen from here, but it wasn't chained or locked to anything. motorcycle and auto-theft is more of a problem with northern va in general, so i'm not complaining about the complex. the management have replaced the washer/dryer unit, fixed our dishwasher and have addressed any problems we had quickly. no hidden fees of any sort and utilities have been reasonable. the walls are a bit thin, but nothing too ridiculous; the noise really depends on the neighbor. they are very pet-friendly.

    Like living at Tysons Glen

I moved here last year and so far I liked it. Parking has never been an issue here. Management makes sures that the apartment complex is kept clean and so far I see that regular maintenance and upgrades are keeping abreast. These are good size apartments and the best thing is that washer and dryer is in the unit so you do not have to worry about the laundry.

      best apartments in this area

I have been living here for almost a year and I am so happy be here. The management is awesome. Elisa and others in the leasing office are very helpful. They answer all your concerns and have a helping attitude.I had to call maintenance around 3 times and they were prompt. Even after hours maintenance is very responsive. The grounds are very clean. I live in a first floor apartment and have no bugs problem at all. I do not have roaches in my apartment. But still the pest control people come to check on things. When I occupied the apartment it was very clean. Since the building has access control it is very safe. I never had any safety issues here. I don't have noisy neighbors, also the building is strong and doesn't have creaky floors, so even if you have noisy neighbors there is a very less chance of this bothering you. Parking is ok, sometimes its a problem that I don't get it in front of my building. But thats ok becoz once I come home I don't go out much late in the night. The windows are very good..no leaking air from here so I doā€¦Ā See More>

RENTER BEWARE: HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE

Renter beware, you're better off living in a paper box then living here. I should have known better when we arrived to move in, signed all the paperwork and was given keys to our new place, only to find 10 maintenance workers when we opened the door and the apartment in shambels. Needless to say with their frequent vacancy, they were able to give us another apartment which valued just as disappointing. With no other options we decided to stay and ran into a flurry of issues: cement clogging our sinks and shower drains, constant bugs, and cracks throughout all of the rooms that slowly appeared once the wet paint dryed. Every appliance in our apartment broke at least one time in the few months we were there. The crew is horrible, the neighbors are awful and thanks to their winter "treatments" I had to buy a new bumper. Don't make the same mistake I did!!!

Looks like management has been writing reviews again...a year ago this place was rated in the 20's due to everyon'e complaints about bedbugs, mice, noise, parking and poor staff. Trust me, they haven't made some miraculous recovery. Read the people who say no. It's all the same. Don't believe the "yes" as they're likely staff masquarading as tenents. Stay away!

if you like cockroaches, then it is a perfect place

First two months was ok, and then started cockroaches coming from somewhere, and its hard to get rid of them. i wanted to leave this apt. so bad, but i could not, because of lease. Not lot of parking. if you come in the night, very late, you'll not find any parking unless you've reserved parking. good thing : service was ok.

                Don't live 2230 Iroquois!

I've lived in Tyson's Glen since October 2005. First in a two bedroom townhouse, then a three bedroom townhouse, and now in a one bedroom. The location of the apartment is great. It's right the end unit on the corner of the pool. The sun only hits it directly for a short time in the morning, so in the summer my A/C bills are real low. I've come to like Tysons' Glen, that's why I lived here for so long. However, I've had a horrible time dealing with the upstairs neighbor in 2228 Iroquois. It's not so much him, but his dog. It barks at all hours, day and night, waking me up or making studying difficult. Since February 2008 I left a note for him, put in three noise complaints, and one noise complaint to Fairfax County Police. Has this changed anything? Nope. This bothers me as the leasing office occasionally puts out reminders about the pet policy, and how they can have you remove your pet if it becomes nuisance, etc. Well, I'd say that four formal complaints over the course of a year is aā€¦Ā See More>

Don't make same mistake I did

The place is situated in a nice area that is convenient to Tysons Corner. It's off the road and there are trees on the property etc etc. There is a 30 day guarantee but once you have spent the time moving in and setting up moving all over again is both expensive and time-consuming...that and I hate moving is why I stayed. A big mistake. What are the issues - Well, noise carries easily between floors...really annoying when the baby downstairs starts crying at three in the morning, any music or movie is watched etc etc. Vibration carries from apartments on the same floor. When my neighbors walk around my floor shakes. Not so annoying but also speaks to the poor quality of the apartments themsleves. Poor water pressure, insects getting into the apartment, horrible parking such that one has to pay for a reserved spot or risk parking buildings away...the list goes on and on. Being able to have a dog there is a nice perk, but not for those who do not have one...the noise from barking carries straight through into apartments on the same floor. You will be enticed with nice specials to move in, don't be lulled. Once there management doesā€¦Ā See More>

Renovations can't fix the biggest problems (long)

The management has posted their own reviews touting their extensive renovation program and reminding us that most of the reviews on this site come from disgruntled residents who "are few and far between." I would urge you who are reading this review to remember that the management is also biased! I will try to give as fair a review as I can. Be warned; it's a long review. General comments: --The location is fantastic. Convenient to shopping, eating, car care; there's even a public library, a dentist and an eye doctor within walking distance. --Even though the apartments are so close to 495, 66, and 7, the complex AS A WHOLE is quiet. --The grounds are beautiful with many large, shady trees and well-kept flower beds, and the management encourages residents to beautify their patios (IF your apartment receives enough sunlight for anything to actually grow and thrive). --The buildings are old. I think they were built in the 60s or 70s. As a result, the plumbing and electrical systems, which were probably adequate at the time, are now hopelessly out-of-date (keep reading for more details--look for the passages in all caps). THE RENOVATIONS THE MANAGMENT IS INVESTING IN ARE MERELY COSMETIC AND DO NOT/CANNOTā€¦Ā See More>

                      People's terraces

I must say up front I decided not to rent at Tysons Glen and perhaps if management reads this review they will correct what put me off. People's terraces...a large percentage of the residents seem to use their patios, front yards, and patios as either rubbish bins or storage for junk. I liked the apt I was shown. Grounds were well-tended. Management seemed nice. Price was right and location good. But when I walked around the property after talking with the agent I was very turned off by how residents were allowed to keep these areas. I expected to see people putting their cars on blocks. It's a shame residents give such a shabby image to a property that is well maintained otherwise.

Not worth it! VERY LONG REVIEW, beware :)

I agree with many of the "NO" opinions listed here. This was my very first apartment as I am a recent college grad, and when I first saw the rent (1430 for a renovated 760 sq ft 1 bedroom--60 sq ft is a "den" that is the size of a small storage closet!) I almost didn't sign the lease. I convinced myself it was worth it for the convenience to my office (near Tysons II) and 495 and 66. I figured I was paying for the convenience. But seriously, this place is not worth it. I would rather pay a little more out in a nice, new high rise in Ballston or Arlington AND deal with a longer commute than renew this lease. I have 2 cats... I was told there was simply a 1-time deposit of $300 TOTAL for pets when I first started thinking about this apartment. What helped make my decision was no monthly pet rent. HOWEVER, the day I moved in and signed my lease, I was informed they changed the policy to $300 PLUS $30 a month PER PET. Ridiculous. RIP OFF. The noise level is atrociuos. I am on the 2nd floor, with neighborsā€¦Ā See More>

Tyson's has it's good and bad points. Parking is not too bad. For 30.00 a month you can get a reserved spot. The maintenance is terriffic. Well the personnel anyways. They do thier best to keep it up to date. The management is hit or miss depending on who is in charge at the paticular time. No break ins that I am aware of. I have a top floor apartment so i do not have a noise problem at all. The grounds are well maintained although I would like to see them a little more eco friendly. The contruction is dated and from what I hear from my nieghbors, it can be loud downstairs. To be fair I am a cranky individual so the fact that they keep me here i significant!

                            not leaving soon enough

I have lived here for about a year and a half and would not recommend it to anyone except maybe someone with a large dog who can't find anywhere else that will take it. The pipes in my bathroom exploded while I was at work and caused water to leak through the ceiling onto the first floor of my townhouse. Be extremely careful about where you park, and how well your visitor's pass is filled out because the towing is EXTREMELY enforced, even for residents. Parking is an absolute nightmare. The staff is unappreciative of their residents, and try to make up for it with a cheap barbecue in the summer. The rent is also outrageous and I have found many places closer to the metro for less money and the same amenities. Right now I believe the complex has over 40 vacancies available now, and I am not surprised.

I would avoid living in a Tysons Glen one-bedroom with a townhouse above it. There is little "padding" between apartment floors, and should you get a noisy upstairs neighbor you are seriously burned. Try as management may, they cannot prevent neighbors from yelling, crashing, pounding, stomping, screaming, springing and making all manner of racket. Local county law gives them no power to control noisy tenents. A multi-generational family live above me, and each day I am subjected to noise abuse that gets worse with each complaint. For me, the situation begins at 6A and continues until 1:30A. Even police visits to calm them down between 10A and 6A is meaningless because management can't kick them out. They can only refuse to give them another lease when its up for renewal. By then, their neighbors will have lost the will to live. I'll be out long before them. For me, the noise conditions make an otherwise fine complex an impossible place to live.

Greast job, guys! Maintenance is decent - fix things pretty fast, not always but in general pretty fast. leasing people are nice, always greet with a smile - makes such a difference. Also, even my dog is enjoying dog park, running around with dog-friends. I would recommend this complex - we're happy. Hope you are or will be also!

Tysons Glen receives resident recommendation in 2007 resident survey!

Each year, A.J. Dwoskin & Associates hires an independent firm, SatisFacts Research, to randomly survey a percentage of the residents at each apartment community. I am thrilled to announce that in the 2007 survey, 90% of the residents surveyed stated they would recommend Tysons Glen to a friend. This year, Tysons Glen has commenced a multi-year renovation project to update apartment interiors with new maple cabinets, countertops with a breakfast bar, designer light fixtures, brushed nickel hardware, ceramic tile in the kitchen and bath, and wood moldings in the living room and dining room. The management team is constantly striving to make improvements to the community. Not often does a resident satisfied with their apartment seek out a website to post a positive comment or compliment. This website can be a bulletin board for disgruntled residents who are few and far between. When reading this website, please consider that the best indicator of the professional management of an apartment community is the overall opinion of its residents. The results of the 2007 annual resident survey speak volumes about how satisfied the residents are at Tysons Glen. Thank you for taking the timeā€¦Ā See More>

Tysons Glen is actually not that bad as many write here. Yes, there is always room for improvement, but it's definitely better than the ones i lived in before, right around the corner even. I really appreciate that the management is organizing some activities - they are fun! at least gives a chance to meet new neighbors. about the roaches - never seen one in the years that i lived here. I guess it just depends on how clean you keep your home. Noise.. yeah i hear my neighbors sometimes, but it's just like in any apartment complex. i guess, if you dont want to hear anyone, be annoyed by anyone, and if you're lucky - not being surrounded by others - then buy a house in West Virginia or somewhere remote.

This place is horrible. The buildings are crummy, the rents are over-priced, and the assistant manager is a nut job. I'm mean seriously, she has the intelligence of a 5 year old. She doesn't know policies, she has continuously made mistakes in my rent payments and even told me I owed money when I over paid. I'm so glad I'm leaving this dump. Rules and guidelines only apply to some people, not all people. I had my car towed and I have no idea why. I had a current sticker and I was parked in a regular parking spot and I had to pay to have my car returned. My neighbors , who are of a different ethnic background, had a friend over and he was parked out front with no sticker; clearly in violation and got his car back at no charge!!!! I'm glad to hear that racism is alive and well at Tyson's Glen, and I'm glad I've moved on to a roach free property!!!!

Better places out there for sure

I don't have many positive things to say about this place. I've lived there for two years and the following happened to me: Had my car towed twice, both times it had the proper sticker / tag. Had my assigned parking space moved without being notified, which resulted in me towing my neighbors car and bad blood. I thought he was parked in my spot, when it was just the opposite, thanks management! Had a loud family of four move into the one bedroom, hardwood floor unit next to mine. Sure this is breaking some sort of occupancy code. They stink and do not miss them. Dog owners who neglect to clean up after their pets. Snow removal here is non existant. Fitness room is small, outdated, and smells terrible. The management has been pretty rude in the past, lately things have gotten slightly better. They increased the reserved parking price for no apparent reason. Same with the rent. The positives about this place, has a nice self serve car wash and the maintenance guys are on top of things. Bottom line: Find a different place or be ready to regret your decision.

The area is green and well-landscaped, plenty of trees, lots of areas to walk the dog. Many more pleasant chirping birds than where we used to live (downtown DC.) It's very close to lots of shopping options, close to the beltway, close to I-66 and with a shuttle to the West Falls Church metro. But even being centrally located, it's very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of parking. The pool is nice. The fitness room is open 24 hours, you get in with a key card. It is very small however. The management and maintenence personnel are okay - just about as friendly and responsive to problems as you could expect. I have never seen a roach or any other bug. Many many tenants here have dogs - most are nice and friendly to meet. One bad thing... quite a few tenants don't pick up their dog's poo, but there's not much the management canā€¦Ā See More>

                                              Perennial plumbing problems

We've had kitchen plumbing problems, primarily because our neighbors are "smart" enough to dump large chunks of food in their trash disposal. Since we live in a townhouse, our pipes are connected with another townhouse. Our kitchen pipes have been clogged for almost a week now, and suffice to say, it still has not been fixed by the revered Maintenance crew. They never arrive at the time they say they would (said they'd get here at 9:30 a.m., but didn't arrive until 3:30 p.m., and of course had to leave a note on our door advising us to re-schedule for the nth time). For the obscene amount of rent that we pay, we definitely deserve much better service than this. Unfortunately, we can't do much about our "beloved" neighbors' ignorance. Can't wait to move out of here.

                                                Not Too Bad

I had no problems with Tyson's Glen in the two years that I lived here with my wife. I think a lot of the roach/bug issues mentioned in other reviews depend on which apartment style you get. We live in the Iris, which is a 1 bedroom apartment, and had no insect problems. I would not be surpised that if you live in one of the Arrow style 1 bedrooms on the ground floor you would get some insect trouble or the like.<br><br>One thing I really appreciate about Tyson's Glen is the excellent maintenance crew. On one occasion I had a leaky faucet in the bathroom, and on another a broken garbage disposal in the kitchen. On both occasions the service guys showed up the same day to take care of the problems.<br><br>My biggest complaint with these apartments is the thickness of the ceilings. Not only can I hear every step the neighbor upstairs makes, I can also hear the neighbors below snoring at night! We were blessed with some quiet neighbors, but if you are not as lucky, I would anticipate some serious noise concerns.<br><br>Overall, Tyson's Glen is not a bad place to live. I certainly think itā€¦Ā See More>

                                                  - "brand new" dishwasher, pretty much useless. It was good at falling out of the cabnetry and streaming water out of it. <br>- Front door bolt doesn't work 50% of the time. <br>- Several occassions I've asked for things to be fixed / put in work orders, and they were ignored.<br>- Cabinet doors fall off.<br>- 75% of the outlet covers were off the walls when we moved in.<br>- Loss of electicity constantly.<br>- Electrical issue that we had to have fixed three times, even know we knew what was wrong and told them, they failed to fix it.<br>- Failure to follow up on service appointments that required more than one visit<br>- Bathroom doorknob missing screws. Then only the correct answers would come from management after the fact. Constant turn over too.
