Better places out there for sure
I don't have many positive things to say about this place. I've lived there for two years and the following happened to me: Had my car towed twice, both times it had the proper sticker / tag. Had my assigned parking space moved without being notified, which resulted in me towing my neighbors car and bad blood. I thought he was parked in my spot, when it was just the opposite, thanks management! Had a loud family of four move into the one bedroom, hardwood floor unit next to mine. Sure this is breaking some sort of occupancy code. They stink and do not miss them. Dog owners who neglect to clean up after their pets. Snow removal here is non existant. Fitness room is small, outdated, and smells terrible. The management has been pretty rude in the past, lately things have gotten slightly better. They increased the reserved parking price for no apparent reason. Same with the rent. The positives about this place, has a nice self serve car wash and the maintenance guys are on top of things. Bottom line: Find a different place or be ready to regret your decision.

Personally, I like it a lot.
My boyfriend and I have lived here more than a year. If we weren't moving out of the area, we would definitely stay. Here are some of the good points: I almost never hear a peep from the neighbors; the walls and floors are well constructed. The area is green and well-landscaped, plenty of trees, lots of areas to walk the dog. Many more pleasant chirping birds than where we used to live (downtown DC.) It's very close to lots of shopping options, close to the beltway, close to I-66 and with a shuttle to the West Falls Church metro. But even being centrally located, it's very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of parking. The pool is nice. The fitness room is open 24 hours, you get in with a key card. It is very small however. The management and maintenence personnel are okay - just about as friendly and responsive to problems as you could expect. I have never seen a roach or any other bug. Many many tenants here have dogs - most are nice and friendly to meet. One bad thing... quite a few tenants don't pick up their dog's poo, but there's not much the management can do about that.

Perennial plumbing problems
We've had kitchen plumbing problems, primarily because our neighbors are "smart" enough to dump large chunks of food in their trash disposal. Since we live in a townhouse, our pipes are connected with another townhouse. Our kitchen pipes have been clogged for almost a week now, and suffice to say, it still has not been fixed by the revered Maintenance crew. They never arrive at the time they say they would (said they'd get here at 9:30 a.m., but didn't arrive until 3:30 p.m., and of course had to leave a note on our door advising us to re-schedule for the nth time). For the obscene amount of rent that we pay, we definitely deserve much better service than this. Unfortunately, we can't do much about our "beloved" neighbors' ignorance. Can't wait to move out of here.

Not Too Bad
I had no problems with Tyson's Glen in the two years that I lived here with my wife. I think a lot of the roach/bug issues mentioned in other reviews depend on which apartment style you get. We live in the Iris, which is a 1 bedroom apartment, and had no insect problems. I would not be surpised that if you live in one of the Arrow style 1 bedrooms on the ground floor you would get some insect trouble or the like.<br><br>One thing I really appreciate about Tyson's Glen is the excellent maintenance crew. On one occasion I had a leaky faucet in the bathroom, and on another a broken garbage disposal in the kitchen. On both occasions the service guys showed up the same day to take care of the problems.<br><br>My biggest complaint with these apartments is the thickness of the ceilings. Not only can I hear every step the neighbor upstairs makes, I can also hear the neighbors below snoring at night! We were blessed with some quiet neighbors, but if you are not as lucky, I would anticipate some serious noise concerns.<br><br>Overall, Tyson's Glen is not a bad place to live. I certainly think it is above average. <br><br>As a final note, some of my co-workers are also living at Tyson's Glen, and none of them had problems that are as serious as other reviewers mentioned.

Staff of incompetence / Apartments fall apart
- "brand new" dishwasher, pretty much useless. It was good at falling out of the cabnetry and streaming water out of it. <br>- Front door bolt doesn't work 50% of the time. <br>- Several occassions I've asked for things to be fixed / put in work orders, and they were ignored.<br>- Cabinet doors fall off.<br>- 75% of the outlet covers were off the walls when we moved in.<br>- Loss of electicity constantly.<br>- Electrical issue that we had to have fixed three times, even know we knew what was wrong and told them, they failed to fix it.<br>- Failure to follow up on service appointments that required more than one visit<br>- Bathroom doorknob missing screws. Always loose.<br>- <br>- Trash cans in lawns smell terribly, and float into the apartments.<br>- Staff is incompetent. Several times we would call to ask questions and get wrong or partial answers. Then only the correct answers would come from management after the fact. Constant turn over too. Rarely have I see the same person in there for more than a month or two.<br><br>Don't move here unless you have no choice with your dog. The location isn't worth the money or the place falling apart.

Non-Friendly Staff/ Tons of Fine Print/Poor Renter Focus
My wife and I have lived in this community for 2 years in a one bedroom apartment. Thank God we're moving!!! These people have not only raised our already ridiculous rent once, but have decided to raise it again signficantly this year, AND raise the parking reservation monthly by 200%.<br>In addition they refused to give us our "early bird renewal" discount because we paid our rent for the month on the 2nd of the month and not the first of the month. The lease agreement states that rent is not considered late until after the 5th day of the month. There was also nothing in the agreement saying our early bird discount would be revoked if rent was paid within the 5 day period. Their pool sucks, their gym is even worse. God forbid it snows, they'll plow your car in, then take two days to get it out.<br><br>Our apartment cabinets, drawers, and other "amenities" have fallen apart or have started to. There wasn't even a toilet paper roller. The shower is busted, and service has been called numerous times to fix things including consistent circuit outages in the apartment bathroom, shower curtain holders, garbage disposal breaking down twice in one week, etc.<br><br>My car AND my wife's car have been towed a few times costing us about $100 each time- Management refused to refund us, despite having ample information posted inside the car such as Name, Date, Apt #, and Phone Number.<br><br>The staff is generally unpleasant, negative, and unhelpful (I once waited ten minutes in an empty office before someone noticed me waiting for a package).<br><br>This place sucks. Stay clear.

Could be worse, trust me...
I have lived in a townhouse, NOT an apartment, for about 3 years now. We get ants coming in through the kitchen window in the summer but not too bad. I haven't ever seen a roach, thank god! Anyway, neighbors are ok, parking on my street is fine and since they allow dogs, it really works for me. I don't have a renovated apartment, so I guess I miss out on that. The only complaints that I have ever had have been dealt with as long as you follow-up with them.

Stop complaining, it's a good place.
People complain a lot on this site. Its not perfect but definitely the best deal for the price we were able to find. Good size place, nice neighbors. You can hear through the walls, but only if they are screaming. Free shuttle bus, free car-wash station, nice staff that has always responded politely. You can't get DSL (the phone wire's are old), but with Cox's staggered Cable internet plans, you can get cheap access. Really no complaints whatsoever. Oh, and parking is only an issue if you arrive home after 9 PM any evening. And they only tow your car/friends car if you are foolish enough to not leave a simple note in their car.

management ignores many horrible neighbors
We have lived with a ridiculous upstairs neighbor who does nothing all night long but blast his video games to the point where it rattles our apartment. Management has done nothing to deal with the situation. The common hallways stink of cigarette smoke and the quality of people make this more like a noisy college apartment than anything else... Also, our building is infested with roaches!

Overrated
Overall, the apartments are OK, but management is inept and rude. The interior and appliances of the apartments could really use and upgrade. Parking is horrible. Maintenance is OK. It took me two months to get a new drier installed. Their first recommendation was to "put less clothes in the dryer." Ridiculous. It was just broken.

This apartaments are so expensives, in relation whit the ugly installations. the apartments have the tubs in so bad conditions. (if you wants one apartament in a basic good condition, need selecte one renovated, and are even more expensives). The floor are the more cheap, and are peeling all time. Exist "presents" of dogs in all the exteriors. The walking closet dont has to much problems, but the other closets, are no designed for put nothing inside, if you have the bad idea of put one hanger inside, whit a normal blouse only, the doors dont will close, is ridiculous, who was the animal than designer this? In generall, the spaces are so bad distributed. the sound of the drier and the wash machine are unbelieble. Now them decide to elevate the price of the parking area from 15 dollars, to 30 dollars, whitouth reason.

TERRIBLE- CONSTANT CONSTUCTION!
Do not move in here- they are constantly renovating apartments, which is great for new tenants but terrible for existing! The walls are paper thin so even construction 2 floors up shakes the walls of your apartment. They do not even notify you beforehand of pending construction. Look somewhere else. <br>

Scary Rough Dirty
There apartments are gross. They have all kinds of bugs and issues. This is not a complex that you get your moneys worth. RUN RUN RUN! You will regret the choice to live here. <br><br>The balconies have peeling paint, the sinks and tubs clug up. The a/c works only sometimes. And you can forget about peacefulness. <br><br>The only good thing about this complex was that there is no pet rent. But because of this expect lots of dogs and dog presents.

Review of Townhouses, please!
I am interested in the Tysons Glen Townhouses and have read some really terrible reviews of the apartments. Can anyone currently living in (or has recently lived in) a Townhouse give me an updated review? Thanks!

Tysons Glen rated superior in resident survey!
Each year, A.J. Dwoskin & Associates contracts with an independent research firm to randomly survey the residents at each of our apartment communities. I am thrilled to announce that in the 2006 survey, residents at Tysons Glen rated the community as superior! <br><br>I know this website can be a bulletin board for disgruntled residents who are few and far between. Not often does a resident satisfied with their apartment seek out a website to post a positive comment or compliment. When reading this website, please consider that the best indicator of the professional management of an apartment community is the overall opinion of its residents. The results of the 2006 annual resident survey speak volumes about how satisfied the residents are at Tysons Glen. <br><br>Thank you for taking the time to read this posting.<br><br>Julie Contos<br>Marketing Director, A.J. Be Careful
They will try to rip you off on your 60 days notice. Get it in writting that you turned it in or they will Claim they didn't get it and try to charge you an extra two months rent.

Still Loving It
I've been here now for three years now, and I'm still enjoying it. It's even better now that they've found new management.<br><br>All of my maintenance calls have been dealt with quickly. I've had no bug problems. I've always found maintenance and other staff to be very nice and professional.<br><br>I plan on staying here for as long as I'm in the area or until I decide to buy a house.

Overall good, towing bad
We had a rental car for a day while ours was being repaired-forgot to get a visitor permit, and got towed. $150 to get it out! Why they are such tow-Nazis isbeyond me- it's not like this place is near any venue, bar, etc.<br><br>Good stuff: Pool is nice, maintenance prompt, pretty area. Lots of trees, green space, and a stream at the back. Pet friendly. Overall not a bad place at all. Good location too.

you should know
I've been at Tysons Glen for 18 months & been counting the days for the last 15 of them. I've never been towed but if you come home after 9pm don't expect to park near your apartment. The noise is what drives me crazy. I could sell my tv and just listen to my neighbors through the wall. And if you live below 1 of the townhomes you will hear them walking around and closing cupboards and vacuuming. When I moved in they didn't even prepare the apartment for me. The floors were pretty gross and the tub too. My kitchen light has been flickering for the past 4 months, I've actually given up on it. While I think the maintainance folks are some of the nicest people, they come in and out of your apartment with no notice or warning.

Mixed Review
I've had some good experienes here and some bad experiences. 1. Bad: I was overseas, needed someone to go by my apartment to reboot my server, called front office from Rome and was told I they would let repairperson in, but when my person arrived they were turned away because I hadn't provided SIGNED release! Good: Jason went by and rebooted server for me! 2. Good: they have repaired leaks, blinds, sliding doors, even the whole bath tub! 3. Bad: nasty letters; viscious towing practices; exercise room in disrepair.

Nice Apartments
I have been here for a while. I must say that parking is a little tight here but other than that I love my apartment. It is in a great location close to everything. The maintanence and the Office Staff are all very polite and helpful. Overall i find that it is a great place to live.

Why Complain
hey, I live here! it was quite a shock to see those nasty reviews about the place where I live! I've moved here in 2002 and believe me, now I see better changes than before. Why are you complaining about parking and the "threatening" letters that the office sends out, I see it from a different angle: letters are not threatening, they are informative (if you actually read them!).Hey, would you rather have space available for you than your guests? they dont live here! plus, you can always get a reserved space if you want! I really do no like when someone is bad-mouthing the place where I live and will continue to live as long as I can. the maintenance and the staff are great & pleasant!I will recommend this place for anyone! If you are not happy here, will you be happy anywhere?

Management out to rip off tenants
The management of Tyson's Glen does not care about the tenants and is actively trying to rip them off. Despite being slightly over priced for the area, they try to sneak in extra expenses, especially for parking, and they have a sweetheart contract with a towing company that will make you jump through hoops or see your friends and relatives get towed, even when in open parking areas. My in-laws got towed on Christmas Eve and the management treated me rudely when I came in to complain! My apartment also had very poor electrical wiring requiring multiple requests from maintainence to repair light switches and the garbage disposal. A somewhat pleasant outside hides a loathesome reality, especially when you're stuck dealing with the management.

Roaches and Shoddy Craftsmanship
I'm shocked that the Marketing Director for AJ Dwoskin, who gets paid to do so, wrote a favorable review about Tyson's Glen.<br><br>My apartment/townhouse has cockroaches, as well as numerous plumbing problems with drains, garbage disposal, dishwasher, etc.<br><br>Everything in the apartment seems to have been put together in about 10 minutes by someone with little to no knowledge of carpentry, wiring, plumbing, etc. There are even stickers and pieces of tape that were left on the walls from previous tenants and simply painted over. Ridiculous.
