1st Apt/ Great Place To Live
I moved in in November 2001 and have been completely satisfied. Before I moved in, my apt received a new Washer/Dryer, remodeled bathroom, and a new kitchen floor. Any maintenance requests were taken care of w/in 24 hours. Others before stated they hated the towing but as long as you follow the rules given to you before you move in, you won´t get towed. I have a dog and the complex provides adequate pet walking areas and little baggies to clean up the waste.

The staff has been wonderful to me, especially Nikki. Whenever I have a problem, Judi, the Asst Mananger´s door is always open. I don´t know what else to say , oh, they have a free shuttle that goes to the metro so I don´t even have to drive to work all the way in Maryland.

"keep looking......"
I have lived here twice, once in the early 90s and now. When they changed management companies, the place went downhill fast! Makes you wonder if the owner realizes what the management company he/she hired is doing to break tenant ties and get them running. Towing cars in the middle of the night then playing dumb, mine being towed in the snow, maintenance issues that are NEVER resolved (and believe me, these apartments need maintenance), managment employees lacking customer service skills, and if that weren´t enough, the buidings have EXTREMELY THIN CEILINGS (suprised i haven´t gone insane with all the upstairs noise)....etc. etc. etc. And now, the management team dares to raise rents 16%. Hmmmmmmmmmm, sure seems this should be illegal! All I can say is when I leave, which will be as soon as possible, I will breathe a heavy sigh of relief!!!!

Third Reich inside the Beltway
Disclaimer: this was my first time renting from an apartment complex, not a private owner, but Tysons Glen:

1. seems terribly inflexible and bureaucratic.

2. hires tow trucks to come in the middle of the night and tow away any cars without a resident or visitors permit. Forget to warn your visiting friends about this and you will quickly lose some friends.

3. imposes stiff "non-refundable deposits" - an oxymoron - as a precondition to (a) moving in and (b) owning a pet on the premises.

4. increased our rent by 16% after only one year, in the middle of a looming recession and right after my wife´s company filed for Chapter 11. How charitable of them!

5. leaves repair and maintenance requests unanswered for days and weeks, and when they do come to do repairs, they do so unannounced, despite a contractual requirement to notify the tenant 24 hours ahead of time.

6. office staff, each and every one - I kid you not - have multiple personality disorder. They are so polite and accomodating and helpful when you start talking to them, but if you make an unusual or troublesome request, or complain about anything, they turn into complete Nazis. Suddenly, nothing is negotiable, rules are rules, and the tenant is threatened and issued ultimatums until all opposition ceases. Resistance is futile.
Not really worth the price
Overall this place is ok if you have no where else to go, and absolutely NOT worth $1100 for one bed room. Maintenance takes a long time to respond to problems. Can´t recieve packages either. If you are paying that much, you want your package when you get back home from work instead of driving to the post office. Extremely small bathrooms. Very spacious bedroom. The walls are so thin that you can actually hear your neighbour - maybe mine is just a loud one!! Good thing I was keeping up with the monthly rate, it suddenly incresed by $155, i.e 16% higher. Not sure about everyone else, but that´s a really high increase.
