Overall, the experience...
Overall, the experience is excellent. A little expensive, but welcome to the Washington DC area, I guess. The staff are truly great, though--front desk staff are friendly and responsive, and maintenance are the best I've ever dealt with. Great location too. The buildings themselves are really good as well--sounds from other apartments are rare. Some of the rules can be strange though, like not being able to keep things on the balcony. Like I said, though, overall, experience is great.

Thank god I'm out of these apartments! The location is good other than that everything is bad, the apartments are nearly 30-40 years old, and all the appliances are dated, real dated... The leasing staff is not friendly, Be careful with the security deposit, consider it is gone, and on top of that they would bill additional things some how to steal your money. I would not recommend the apartments at all to any one. Also there are all kind of cockroaches are there in some of the apartments.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. The application and leasing process was easy. I love the amount of space I have and community. I would prefer a more up to date kitchen with all of the same color appliances.

Really enjoy the apartment home and the community. I like that the parking wraps around the community and there is a common grassy area that gives a sense of community. Really Like the area.

I would rate 3/5 ...
Experience has been good. My unit had issues with water leakage in my bedroom. I had checked my renters insurance document. There are 3 or 4 reported water leakages and claims made with insurance companies. Currently also they fixed the pipe with valve rather than replace the whole pipe so that the leaks do not happen in future. I didnt had my master bedroom for 2 weeks. Landscape is not good at 2527 side of the road compared to other sides of the apartment.

I actually don't write reviews but wanted to write now because of the alertness and the responsiveness of the service team. Any complaint is taken into consideration within 24 hrs. Excellent service. The rents are very much accurate for the spacious closets they give.I never saw a big closet inside my master bed bathroom. Though it's a two bedroom apt,it can accommodate the luggage of a three bed house of course excluding the bed. Very very spacious closets for my two bed apt. I am very happy for my stay here and I will recommend it to anyone who plans to move to Herndon area.nice pool.the gym is small but ok.I just love my apt.

Beautifully kept property with a efficient and excellent staff. The best property I have had the privilege of calling home and have been here for 7 years with absolutely no regrets and would definitely recommend to family and friends. Easy access to a active night life, dining, parks, grocery stores, banks, Metro shuttle of which has made my stay here anazing.

Let me first say that I have lived in apartments most of my life so I know what a good property is and a bad one. One thing that you have to keep in mind is that you can't blame the apartment complex for how tenants behave and treat the place but you can rate the complex on the management and how they handle issues with tenants and maintenance. In my experience with apartments The Point at McNair is one of the best places I have ever lived. The apartments are clean and the neighbors are quiet and to themselves and respect the property for the most part. The management at McNair on a scale from 1-10 is a perfect 10. Any issue that I have had since the new management has been there (Panco Management) has been handled in a timely fashion. The people in the office, Phoebe, Justin & Liz are highly competent and show that they take pride in taking care of the residents and the property. I m sad to say that my situation has changed so I just moved from McNair but I have chosen to live at another property across the street managed by Panco Management because of the service I received from the office at McNair (The Point Dulles) . If you are looking for a nice apartment, in a nice neighborhood with exceptional service then I strongly recommend The Point at McNair.

When we originally moved here in 2012 we loved the complex and staff. However ongoing issues with the trash and the smells from the neighboring unit have left a lot to me desired about the community. It seems the complex does not want to resolve this trash issue that is a health issue

PRICE / SIZE. Pretty small apartments for the price without a lot of storage. I paid $1,340 for a 1-B/R. Only 9 months into my 15-month lease, I received a notice saying my lease would be expiring soon. When I called the apartment manager s office, the Asian girl acknowledged her mistake in sending the expiration notice early. I asked her what the market rate of my apartment will be when it actually does expire; and, she told me my rent would be raised $147.00 per month!!! Surely, they jest, LOL I heard elsewhere they were raising rents across the board. Soon after, I started looking around the area and found an even nicer complex (better construction) in a gated community in Herndon with a bigger apartment for less money than I was paying before the increase would have taken effect. WATER HEATER is outside in a closet on the porch. It is not insulated. In the Winter, you don t get a lot of hot water, so don t plan on long hot baths if you re sick or feeling under the weather. BALCONY DOOR LOCKS REMOVED. The complex had Maintenance put new door handles on all the balcony doors WITHOUT LOCKS! It wouldn t have been difficult for a determined person to use one of the many ladders laying all over the property to quickly climb up onto my 2nd floor balcony porch and let himself in; heck I could have done it. I arrived home from work after the office had already closed, noticed a new door handle with NO LOCK, and immediately called maintenance. Maintenance was instructed to tell tenants if they wanted locks on their doors, they were going to have to pay $50. I told him I absolutely refused to pay that; they rendered my apartment unsecure; and, they re going to get over immediately and install a lock! It turned into a 3-ring circus waiting between phone calls and him acquiring authorization to install a lock on my door for free! For FREE? Heck, I rented an apartment WITH LOCKS. Now, they re treating putting them back on as an added service! Unbelievable! How frigging greedy can they be that they try to charge you $50 to put a lock on your door (after removing it!). Not only that can you imagine the legal liability involved with removing the locks from people s doors and what would happen if something serious happened? They d get sued for everything they re worth at which time your rent would go up even more to cover the insurance premium increase. I think every court of law in the land would hold them responsible, because they SHOULD HAVE KNOWN. Not only that I came home from a long day at work and was tired already. The Maintenance guy did everything he could, but the management wasn t so willing, and I was so frigging stressed out by it all, it ruined my evening and I had trouble falling asleep that night, which made my next day at work horrible! What were they thinking?!?! What rocket scientist thought of that?!?! Never fails to amaze me at just how stupid some people actually are. This is a classic example of IDIOCRACY. If you haven t seen the movie, watch it. The person who came up with that brain storm deserves a Bozo Award! I don t think they put locks back on all the balcony doors; probably only those with tenants who complained, so check your balcony door before you sign the contract. SMELL OF INDIAN FOOD. There are many Indian folks living in the community. My apartment usually smelled like Indian food no matter how much I cleaned or what I cooked. It actually smelled like really good Indian food; but, if my apartment were going to smell like food, it d have been kewl to mix it up, like one night Italian, the next Indian, followed by Chinese. BIG SPOT LIGHTS. My apartment faced the court yard and was perpetually lit up, even at 3:00 AM. Knowing I probably wasn t staying long, I didn t bother hanging heavy black-out curtains. I don t think I had a good night s sleep since I had been there because it always seems like some shade of day. MANAGEMENT. Three people consistently stand out as outstanding in customer service and professionalism. The first is Phoebe. She makes tenants feel as if they have a home at McNair Farms, and jumps to every occasion to address tenants issues in a professional and courteous manner. It is because of Phoebe that I was able to get through the year there. She really is outstanding in professionalism, managerial skills, and customer service making the residents feel valued. The other is Justin. While I didn t know him for long, he was extremely helpful and also professional. Liz worked there too for a while, a definite asset! If I owned a complex, I d hire them in a New York minute. CLEANLINESS. The apartment complex is attractive and typically kept very clean and well groomed. Only issue is they don t pay to empty the dumpsters frequently, so garbage piles up outside the dumpsters, which attracts skunks. I think I spent half of last Summer smelling Indian food and skunk in my apartment in the evenings, so I seldom was able to enjoy the cool night air flowing thru windows into my apartment. You shut your windows tight when a skunk sprays, and those sprayed EVERY NIGHT. MAINTENANCE. Very responsive, competent, and respectful. PARKING. Not too bad, can usually find parking in one of the several surrounding lots. CHILDREN. There are many small Indian children playing in the tennis courts in warm weather when not in use by Indian men. They all seemed to have fun, so who cares if other people are enjoying themselves in the neighborhood. I d rather hear children s laughter than gang banger guns going off. NEIGHBORS. Never had any problems with any of them. People generally keep to themselves and respect one another s space. ROACHES, BEDBUGS. Haven t seen even one. APPLIANCES. Average in quality. Nothing special.

positive: good location...
positive: good location within Herndon, negative: very old kitchen appliances that need to be replaced urgently, prefer gas over electric cooking range. creaking of wooden floor in up-stair unit creates annoying sounds. not sure if above unit is carpeted or not. would prefer slightly larger unit sizes for this rent.
