I moved to Woodland Park a year ago and have had countless issues. The first week we moved in the toilet was leaking and both the sink and tub were clogged. Parking was awful and it sucks for those of us who get off at work at 5pm on seems like everyone got off of work around 3pm. The gym.... Hot, stinky, they would run out of water cups, and the wipes to clean the machines were almost always empty. The sidewalks had tons of dog poop. Oh and my apartment was on ground level this was a nightmare we had to kill crickets everyday in the fall (not fun and scary for me). Centipedes, silverfish, spiders, and recently ground beetles that have pincers they were small and harmless. Regardless do not move into this community!!!!! We moved because rent increased ridiculous and so not worth it. The only benefit is that we were near to the grocery store, restaurants, etc

The staff was very helpful during the leasing and move process. More importantly however I am very impressed with the service and follow up from your community captain and on-site maintenance responsiveness. Always timely, professional, and excellent follow up to ensure the service experience was good.

Welcome TO DialUp World , Premium Price The internet in these apartments has gone from bad to worse. For a simple plain webpage like google.com, we end up 5 minutes to see the page. If you are watching youtube.com, its like jokingly sauing..you got to wait until your toddler comes from daycare to College....and then the video wud turn up... Off late, the management seems to be interested in sending more email alerts than fixing the problem with the service provider The tenants are not given any other option except to go with this forced option... Here are the test results...feel feel to reply this so that I can contact you what is happening in these apartments for the past few months. One good reason to join this apartments is that your kids gets bored and cut down the internet habit... Here are the speed test results from speakeasy.net/speedtest Your Speed Result: Download Speed: 128 kbps (16 KB/sec transfer rate) (as promised 15 Mbps) Upload Speed: 2747 kbps (343.4 KB/sec transfer rate) (as promised 5 Mbps)

I lived there for two years. This place is a joke and the management is worst. The would rather put a notice on your door than do some customer service. The internet and cable go out all the time. Parking is a bigger joke. Dont move there or you will be very dissappointed

After reading every review available online, I decided to try my luck and move in anyway. I've only been here a few months and I love the complex! Because of that, I wanted to leave a review going over some of the issues I saw come up multiple times. Hot water: I shower at night and I sometimes think we run out of COLD water. The first night, I took a nice long shower (we're talking 30 min) and not once did I have to adjust the temperature. Hot water has never been an issue. Stairs: I live on the 4th floor and, yeah, it is a hike every day. The apartments are garden style and there are no elevators. When we moved in, we made an assembly line of people, passing boxes from the truck and relaying them up the stairs. Move in was rough, but the everyday walk isn't bad. Just be careful if you live with someone with mobility issues. You'll need to have a first floor apartment if you can't do the stairs. Noise: On the 4th floor, we don't have much noise. We try to be considerate of the people below us as much as possible, but we can't speak for the rest of the tenants. We have yet to hear a peep from our side neighbors. Taking out the trash: Yes, you have to walk. We fortunately live near a compactor (which is surprisingly not a noise problem) so the walk is short, but a lot of people will drive over and dump out multiple bags at a time. And trash is rarely left out by the compactor, I walk by it every day. There is a second one in the complex somewhere, I just haven't had to look yet. PARKING: This was the biggest concern for me. I get home around 7:30-8PM every night and have 3 roommates, all with cars. After talking to residents around the area, I want to set this straight. Yes, parking can get crowded at night. You might not get to park RIGHT in front of your complex, but you don't have to walk a mile, park across the street, or park in a handicapped spot. The furthest I have ever walked is halfway across the complex (so maybe 3 blocks). Even then, I rarely have to walk more than a block to my car. The later it gets, the more spots are taken. It's a fact of life that you'll probably never escape. I have to walk to my car sometimes, but nothing horrible. Management: Everyone in the leasing office has been very accommodating. The girl at the front desk is always smiling, they have community captains for each section of the complex who are easy to get a hold of, and the maintenance staff has been great. When we moved in, two of the four roommates were out of state and could not come in to sign anything. Our leasing agent (Lola) was patient and helpful, doing everything digitally until their move in. Once they were in state, they signed the lease and everything was good. Poop: I have no idea what people are talking about when they say there is dog poop everywhere. I walk around all the time and never see poop. Where are you walking your animals?! Cleanliness: Our apartment was spotless upon move in. Everything worked, the carpets were clean, and it was beautiful. Cable and Internet: I had my first bad experience here, which was handled appropriately. We were having trouble setting up our wifi. They use DirectTV, but have Hotwire as a third-party who does installations and handles the equipment. Direct TV couldn't help us (despite them being very courteous) and Hotwire gave us a multitude of answers. We told our community captain (Shantal) about the problems we were having and she made a call on our behalf. The problem was fixed by the end of the week. She even followed up to make sure everything was alright and fixed. Bugs: Have yet to see even a spider. No bug problems here. There are also some attributes I haven't seen mentioned. There are 2 pools (one a lap pool with a kiddie pool next to it, another a big relaxation pool), a grilling area, adorable community events, and a car care area including a hose to wash your car with and an air pump/vacuum station. They even gave me breakfast for the road this morning! :) Loved the juice box.

This really is a nice place to live. No complaints. Everyone is nice and friendly in the office. I have made friends with a few of my neighbors and we love to go to the happy hours they have every month. Can't wait for memorial day when the 2 pools open. I like that it is a gated community too. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a new place.

My girlfriend and I have lived here for 3 years. We like it alot. We love the fact that there are great amenities here, our favorite is the 24 hour accessible gym. We save money on having to get a gym membership, its hardly ever crowded when we go at night, and has all the equipment we like to use. The property is well kept, I always see the landscapers out working to maintain the grounds. Staff is always nice. We plan on staying at least one more year.

i love living here. i have lived all over the virginia area and this location is perfect for me. i can walk to shops and restaurants and have easy access to public transportation, which is important for me bc i do not have a car. the office staff and maintenance are nice and attentive. i would definitely reccommend this place, and not just bc they pay referral fees, but that is a nice bonus. i will defintely renew my lease this summer

My wife and I have been living at Woodland Park since 2008 and look forward being here for many more years to come. We are not people that complain at all but I can say when we have contacted the office staff regarding any issue they have responded in a timely manner each and every time. The maintenance staff does an excellent job at taking care of request we have called in. The biggest issue we have had lately is the fact that our neighbors do not clean after their pets! My wife and I love to take evening strolls and we always seem to pick up waste on our shoes regularly. I do see the grounds people picking up the waste from time to time but it is not fair to them. If you chose to have a pet it is YOUR responsibilty to clean after them. Besides the pet waste the grounds and landscaping look great. Parking was also an issue for us in the past but we have decided to rent a garage to secure spots for ourselves. When we do out eveing walks we do see cars on the property without parking stickers taking up spots that residents should have. Again, this is the responsibility of those that live here, if you followed the rules we wouldn't be forced to pay extra for garages and I speak for my neighbors as well. Overall, we love living at Woodland Park and will continue to refer our friends and family. Thank Woodland Park Staff for making our stay here a superb one.

I'm coming back after almost a yr of leaving Woodland Park. I have to say, after living there and other places, Woodland Park is still a favorite! I miss my wonderful apartment, staff and the different eventsI always attended. Management was super friendly, understanding and the best of all, always on top of every issue and or maintenance request I had. Van Metre really knows how to choose quality staff. I do wish, however that their rent prices weren't so steep, but I do understand, location is also a factor. I am now living at the end of the orange line and paying less than I was but nothing compares to good staff associates and costumer service. Hopefully, as soon as my current lease expires there will be something available for me. Thank you Woodland Park, for always having super friendly costumer service and communities.

I have lived in the herndon area for the past 6 years and I am truly happy to call Woodland Park My home. The location is perfect for my husband and I to communte to and from work. We have had some minor maintenance hicups but the staff was quick to address them. Soo, wish we had a choice to switch from the current Cable and Internet provider;last few months was tuff with my TV Freezing a lot,I have not had any internt troubles. My cable seem to be working better now since they came and fixed it. I hope it stays that way. Environment is safe, clean and the staff is simply amazing; knows the tenants by name. I have had a few neibours who complained about not having enough guess parking, this I hope can be improved. Other wise, I am a very happy Tenant and yes, we will be renewing our lease.

I have been living at Woodland Park for almost 2 years now. I find that the office and maintenance staff are courteous, professional and attentive. Yes, the cable and internet has been an issue, but my service has been working without interruption the last couple weeks. I have been told that I will get a credit this month for the time that the service was not working properly. I am a dog owner and I am responsible and pick up after my pet, but I know not all the other residents do. That is not the fault of the office. I have mentioned to office that the area near me needs attention to waste removal and they have sent someone to clean up the grounds by my apartment. I would recommend this community without hesitation. There are many features I like about the community, great amenities and they throw resident happy hours once or twice a month! Plus the location is fantastic.

Parking is a total sham. Unless you rent a garage forget finding a parking spot. They don't enforce guest rules or parking rules even though they hand out a sticker. It leads to 2 cars for every spot. They have a gate that when people don't have the code or know the access number they just run through it. Seriously, the security guy is out there every other morning putting it back together. Maintenance is spotty at best. You pay for tv and internet with your rent. And you get what you pay for. TV has been down since mid January and all we keep hearing is they have people trying to fix it. Total joke. They aren't even offering reimbursement for not providing a service you are paying them for. Insulation of the apartment is spotty also. This leads to higher ac cost in the summer and heating in the winter. Don't expect them to do much about it either. I have been here a long time and all I can say is it wasn't like this in the beginning. Service has steadily declined to the point it is now terrible. It has convinced me it is time to move and buy something for myself.

The apartment is nice but being 10 years old you do see issues. The internet and tv that is provided often goes out and you are left without. You are unable to get Verizon or Comcast so you are left to deal with sub par service from Hotwire communications. The gym is dated with most equipement worn. For example the cable pull machine doesn't have numbers, dumbbells are mismatched, machines can't be adjusted anymore. Guest parking is a pain, it's easier if they park across the street. Residents dog waste is a small issue as well. On the plus side the office and maintenance staff are friendly and try to deal with problems quickly. If you do not use amenities too much and want an apartment that is well maintained Woodland park is a good choice.

My community captain does an outstanding job of customer service. Sha takes all concerns seriously and makes every effort to resolve problems expenditiously. She is both a credit and an asset to the Van Metre WoodlandPark staff. Together with the property manager and the maintenance crew, they make living at this facility a pleasant one.

I honestly don't understand some of the negative reviews that I have seen here. I have lived at Van Metre Woodland Park for several months now and the experience has been very satisfactory. From the very beginning, our leasing executive, Kadie was very supportive and attentive to our needs and patiently worked with us to find an apartment that could meet our needs and budget. She was with us all they way from the initial visit to the signing of the lease to the actual move in day. Our community captain, Jeannie, has been great as well. She always follows up after a trouble ticket has been issued and has always responded to our inquiries in a timely manner. We couldn't ask for anything else. They even offered to touch up the scuffs left on the wall after our move in! Of course repairs could be done quicker, but to be honest the longest we have ever had to wait was a day. If there is some room for improvement it could be the trash disposal situation. The compactors are located at separate ends of the complex and it could be a bit of a hike/drive in bad weather. A trash pick up service would be great. Also, it wouldn't kill the dog owners to pick up after their dogs once in a while, but that isn't the apartment's fault, is it? Did I mention that they do monthly happy hour events? So, overall, the experience has been a good one and we are very happy with our choice of living here are Van Metre Woodland Parks.

I've lived at Woodland for six months. Overall I'm satisfied with the community but would be very satisfied with one adjustment. Here's how I would break it down: The Good Nice Floor Plans - More space and lighting the many of the other apts in the area. Price - Reasonable, it's a good value for what you pay for the area. Usually Plenty of Parking - Just resurfaced the lots so shouldn't have to deal with that mess for awhile. Management - So far has been one of the best management teams I've dealt with at over 10 communities in NOVA. Neighbors - Overall good mix of young and old, singles and families. Location - Directly across from Harris Teeter shopping plaza and up the street from Clocktower. The Bad HORRIBLE Internet - They are locked into an exclusive contract with a third party second tier provider, Hotwire Communications. Internet speed advertised is up to 20Mbs Down. Actual speed (conducted over several tests over wired connection) bursts initially to 15Mbs, then immediately drops to 5Mbs, then evens out around 10Mbs. This wrecks havoc on services like Amazon Instant Video when it tries to establish an HD streaming connection. Uploads are a consistent 3Mbs and latency is an issue so if you need to use VOIP (Skype for example) from home your going to have a lot of problems. This may seem trivial to some, but if you work from home these are major issues. Carpet - Typical crappy apartment community carpet. Kitchen Appliances - Definitely dated and subpar. I'm surprised at how many people on these ratings sites seem to hate life and want to take it out on their apartment communities. Nowhere is perfect, you need to accept that. I can accept all the flaws and appreciate all the benefits of Woodland Park, EXCEPT for Hotwire. Since I work from home and depend on a quality internet connection, it looks like I'll probably need to move again at the end of the lease unless they drop them. (fingers crossed)
