Only problem I've encountered is there is very limited parking and you cannot reserve spots. The office and maintenance staff are quick to respond and very knowledgeable. I do feel safe here but they could use more lighting around the community.

Overall, living at the Retreat was an awesome experience for me and my 2yr old. It is a place that I call home. The staff really cares about the needs and concerns for the community. I felt extremely safe and would recommend this community to everyone especially a single mother with small children. I give the Retreat a 5- star rating!

It is a great place we have only been here for a week but over all it seems to be a great place to live. Looking forward to spending time at the pool this summer and using the gym facility. Staff is very friendly

I love it here at Retreat! It is convenient to everything. The staff are very nice and helpful. The open floor plan is fabulous. The only problem I had is getting maintenance fast and there needs to be guest parking.

Parking is a huge negative issue. Vehicles being broken into and vandalized is also a huge problem. There is an extra $25.00 valet trash service forced on all tenants that some of us do not need. There is a worry of any pkgs being delivered to your door being stolen. The noise is horrible. No privacy. Be prepared to have people walk into your home WITHOUT notice. Office staff and maintenance are great however. Super nice and polite and quick to respond to you.

This property is in a amazing location for the price. It's close to everything you need or don't need lol (I love shopping). Since the management change everyone in the office is extremely friendly and they will help you with anything they can. It's not like other apartment complexes, I can tell they genuinely care here. The apartments feel like your living in a custom home but without the worries of maintenance or yard work. lol I would definitely recommend The Retreat to anyone looking for a "Retreat" from everyday life. Come and see for yourself!!

After an overall walk around this is what I observed: Dog Park - Disgusting, poop all over, noticed there were rules posted, but obviously not enforced. There was no hose to clean up . The Manager was Cold, Unfriendly , definite fake smile, I deal with people all the time. She's a fake,, Have no desire to stay in a complex with unpleasant staff.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. It is noisy, the staff couldn't care less about you or your well being, gate doesn't work so they leave it open most of the time, cars get broken into right and left.

. Vehicles get BROKEN INTO on a weekly basis, one being mine. . There's NO CAMERAS on the property so if you get broken into you're SOL. . This "gated community" is NOT gated and is always open to the public because "the gates are old and have done too much opening and closing so they don't work anymore."-staff . One of the ladies at the front, Jan, is very RUDE and does not seem to care for anyone but herself. I will say that the rest of the staff are nice and helpful however. . Parking is HORRIBLE and I often finding myself having to park on the other side of the property, furthest from my apartment. There's simply not enough spots. . The apartment itself has PROBLEMS. The entire second bedroom closet flooded from bad plumbing above us, and ruined everything on the floor. Our refrigerator stoped working several times and we had to throw away lots of spoiled food before they completely replaced the entire fridge. The carpet is fraying in several spots so I always find loose pieces of carpet everywhere and the carpet frays more and more every time I vacuum. The AC has broken down in the middle of summer. . Maintenance is SLOW, no matter how persistent you are. The second bedroom closet was flooded for about a week before they came to take care of it, the fridge was broken for about 5 days before they came and replaced it, and I went without AC for 3 days in summer before someone came to take a look at it. When something breaks down, there's no use in putting in a request online or calling the office. The best thing to do is go straight up to the front office and make a big deal about it so you can have it fixed that day. . I've been FALSELY ACCUSED and fined of not picking up after my dog by someone who claims to have watched me not pick his poo up when I have baggies attached to a little container on his leash so I always pick up after him. . There's dog poo EVERYWHERE and not enough trash cans with baggies supplied to pick up after your dog. Hence, why I keep a container of baggies attached to my dog's leash. . The ceilings are THIN. I can hear every step the people above me take. . Through the vents in various parts of the apartment, I can HEAR PEOPLE'S CONVERSATIONS both outside and inside their apartments. . There's an officer who lives at the complex that is RUDE and takes it upon himself to perform a little off the clock duty around the complex. . People drive like MANIACS around the complex and I've almost been clipped several times trying to back out of a parking spot.

The first year living there was great- we had no major issues and were able to transfer from a 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom with ease. Ownership changed right as we were transferring, and office staff was changed, unfortunately (the apartment manager is fine). The old office assistant was wonderful and we missed her every day after she left for another job. Some of the newer staff members are unorganized and not helpful, some do not return calls in any kind of timely manner, yet expect you to answer your phone when they call. Maintenance requests were always completed within 24 hours. The flooring is not sufficient to block noise; we had many nights of our infant waking up due to loud banging/stomping and yelling loud enough for us to hear clearly- this would go on at all hours almost daily. Don't expect anything to be done about it. The rental price per month for the apartment is decent, but a little high considering the carpeting and materials are not high end (and BEWARE- they're going to charge you to "clean" the carpets when you leave; but they'll replace them and charge you ~$600 for damages and having to replace the carpet even if any damage is because the carpet quality is so low the threads come up on the edges and fall out- it was listed for us as pet damage, and although we paid a $600 pet deposit when we moved in and $20/month for pet fees, we were told they don't have a "pet deposit" and none of the money we paid covered "damage" and was for the grounds upkeep and flea spraying; we didn't have a dog and we re-homed the two cats two weeks after moving into the apartment due to an allergy.) The courtesy carts are great in theory, but that is all dependent on actually being able to locate one to use (when you have twenty bags of groceries and have to park at the other end of the lot away from your door with a one year old in tow). I would go to every hallway on each floor to see if I could find one- they definitely were not in the cart return area). The fees in addition to price of the rental and extra charges upon leaving make this apartment not worth the price per month. You'd be better off finding a more high end apartment complex and paying the extra $ a month since you'll end up paying for it anyway. We are just glad to be out of there, and we definitely wouldn't be back.

As a resident for a little over a year, might I say that I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the apartment complex. I have lived in complexes, in multiple states, and can say that this has been my favorite. For the price you pay, you cannot beat the location and shear size of these apartments. The staff is extraordinarily helpful and were always extremely professional. I would, without hesitation, recommend this community to anyone that is a searching for a place to call their own.

This is the WORST place I have ever lived in my entire life!!! Beware of the RUDE office ladies they are disrespectful and highly immature. And it's not just me, other people in the complex have said the same thing. Do not waste your money or your time here!!! Highly overpriced and extremely RUDE staff in the office that are not willing to help you. Wish i would have seen my own review before moving into this crappy place!!

If you are a hard worker, have small kids, make an honest living and have a slip of the mind, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I am a current tenant at the Retreat @ Schillinger and when I first moved here I was sooo excited. I worked with Danielle and Erin (no longer employed) who were absolutely the best. Well I am now at my year and when I paid my Feb. rent, on Feb. 3, I forgot to transfer money from savings to checking account (first mistake since I been here). I learned of this error on Feb. 8 via my online banking and immediately, on Feb 9, got a bank money order to cover Feb & March rent. Well here comes the problem, I received a notice on my door AFTER the payment was already submitted to the office. The letter stated I owe $810 Feb. rent + $100 late fee + $35 return check fee. I immediately called and explained the situation to Debbie, the property manager, who was to email Danielle, now regional manager, and get back with me. A week passed and NO RESPONSE. I called back to hear Debbie say she had been out and catching up on email and would check with Danielle again and contact me back. Again, NO RESPONSE. So I call about 3 days later to learn Debbie is out on family emergency and I reluctantly explained AGAIN to Jan (the nicest thus far) the situation who would discuss with Danielle who was in the office and call me back. Again, NO RESPONSE. So a 3rd explanation was called to RUDE Loren, Asst. Prop Mngr who initially told me Danielle said she can waive the $35 but I must pay the $100 late fee. ONCE AGAIN she would email Danielle and get back to me. We are now on Mar 14 and STILL NO RESPONSE but I get a very nice letter on my door Saturday advising of a past due balance of $135, several nice calls informing me of a past due balance-BUT STILL NO RETURN CALL/FOLLOWUP on my complaint on how I feel this is unfair because of a simple human error. How unprofessional is that? The rent was not late; it was in the office before the late day. However, I am told the $100 late fee automatically applies to the account on the 4th. Well, how would the late fee apply on the 9th of the month if it supposedly applies on the 4th? Late, NO IT WASN'T; returned because of a minor error, YES IT WAS. I truly understand the return item fee, but the late fee I do not. I work for a local utility company and we will never go back and charge a customer a late fee after the late date if the payment has been received. However, if the payment is returned, yes you have to cover the check and the return check fee. UNDERSTOOD. I have been in customer service over 10+ years and understand the importance of maintaining a great, healthy relationship with my customers. I would NEVER charge such ridiculous, unexplained penalty to my customers who has had an EXCELLENT payment history, pays rent/bills on time and has NEVER had a problem in such prestigious community. I think this office staff has NO COMPASSION for their tenants and their customer service skills, or lack of SUCK. I have previously recommended tenants to this community, but NEVER again will I live or recommend this property or any of their sister properties to anyone else. Needless to say, I will NOT be renewing my lease.

In the nicest way possible..... This place really sucks. We can't wait until our lease is up. Management should get a negative 5 star rating and all the "luxurious" amenities are a joke. The walls and floors are so thin we can literally here our neighbors fart under their covers. But seriously you can here them pee and flush, which is even weirder. The "billiards and pub" they speek of is ONE ripped up unlevel pool table and a counter top with a microwave. The ladies up at the office are completely MISERABLE and you will receive 50 rude notes on your door if you're a penny short on you're FORCED MONEY ORDER (no other payment options) rent. If you're 5 minutes late on rent go ahead and come up with another 100 bucks. I can not express in text how much I can't stand this place. After bills we pay around 1100 dollars a month for this hole..... Safety gets a negative rating because the cop that lives here questions residents when he should be finding out who keeps breaking into cars at night. And be sure not to EVER invite company over for the night, they will definitely wake up to their car being impounded. Everyone that I've talked to that lives here wants out just as bad as my family and I do. The washing machine only works on dark colors..... The dryer only dries when it wants..... And every time we wash dishes I have to put the dish washer back together. Dead termites appear all over the floor at times. The planes fly by every 10 minutes so close you can wave to the people in them. The "cyber lounge" is a closet with a router. My mother has a 3500 square foot home and her power bill is a fraction of ours. I could go on and on about this place. Please don't make the same horrible mistake I made for my family and move in here. And I'm just being honest. I wouldn't wish this place on my worst enemy..... As a matter of fact I'd rather live with my worst enemy than live here.

I currently live here and I would not recommend a LIVING SOUL to live here! Parking space is TERRIBLE, having to park a whole building away from your living area. But, there are only three buildings and they act like they're jumping a bridge to get ANYTHING fixed around here. Service is a STRONG 2. Then the staff is another thing. My son, who used to go to the pool almost every day, safely... after around a month or so, one of the staff members, and his WIFE (someone who had no authority what so ever, she wasn't even a staff member) YELLED at my son! Apparently nothing has been said to the man, because he still felt obligated to make my child feel uncomfortable. Parking, there was a handwritten pass for my sisters car ISSUED from the office, and it was still towed! I believe that there cant be hardly any guest parking due to their lack of building, KNOWING how many apartments were going to be in each building, that should be their problem not ours. so called "luxury living" there isn't even 2 pools! Gym is small, not to mention the pool as well! and they have the nerve to have so many rules.

Me and my partner has been here for 11 months so far and we loved it except one issue. The issue is that you have to drill them on fixing things, if not, then you will be held accountable for it. We been telling the management for over six months about carpet issues (we paying for upgraded carpet) and never cared about fixing until i emailed the owners and that same day finally Debbie came and looked at it. Our dog had an accident and we immediate cleaned it up the same day the carpet people were finally coming to patch the area, but couldn't do so due to the accident. And now since that happen they want to blame us. I made the mistake of renewing the lease so we be stuck here for another year. Also the grounds are horrible. The elevators and stairwells are disgusting. Hallways a mess and need painting as well as the floors. The grass is full of dog poo as well as the pet park. Trash bags left in hallways and stairwells.

The staff is very rude. They are very racist as well. They act disgusted when African Americans are on the property and find every excuse to get them to leave. The apartment is nice but not worth the very high prices. Not worth the unfriendly, racist, unprofessional staff. Everyone should be fired and they should hire someone with common courtesy..

I think these apartments are nice & pretty big but they are overpriced compared to other apartments in the area. In particular, the back building that's next to the dog park is always dirty. I've lived here for a good while & I haven't seen them clean the stairwell or the elevator. We started taking the stairs due to the elevator smelling like dog urine all the time but the stairwell isn't much better. The other buildings may he better but I know building 3 is like this.

I just moved out of the Retreat at Schillinger and I will never live there again nor will I rent from any LMS Real Estate Investment Management LLC properties. They unethically nickel and dime you when its time to move out - do not expect to receive all of your security deposit back. While living there in the second half of 2013 after a turnover in the management office staff, rude notes started being posted on doors in the breezeways, elevators, etc. threatening the residents of cars being towed, smoking in hallways, etc., etc. There is a more professional way of dealing with these issues without taping rude notes all over the property and leaving them to get wet in the rain and turn into trash on the ground. Don't expect the gym to be 24/7 as they use it for aerobic-type classes during peak gym hours (although there is absolutely no room for aerobics in the gym) in which there is a charge for this class. With this class going on, you cannot access any of the gym equipment. Do they have the extra insurance for aerobics classes to be held on property? I will not rent from any LMS Real Estate Investment Management LLC properties ever again.

Upon moving in at the Retreat, I found I was in for eight months of painful hospitalizations and rehabilitation. During this time, the staff and management remained supportive and transformed my place into a safe, comfortable home, but checked in regularly to see if they could be of help. Maintenance staff are invaluable always available for repair and to further customize my appliances to help my cooking and cleaning. The outside environment is kept spotless even on the weekends. I feel so safe and comfortable. The management listens to your concerns and strives to do one better. From Meredith, Dannielle and Shannon to Mike, Frank and Codell, The Retreat is not just an apartment complex, but the core of hospitality and gracious living.

I have lived at the retreat for approx 4 months and I can't think of a nicer place to live then here. The Retreat is a very nice place to live, neighbors are friendly and helpful if needed and the Office staff is wonderful, then manager is a great lady and will do whatever it takes to make sure you feel at home. Shannon is the first person you see when you enter the office/ clubhouse, she is very sweet and always has a smile on her face and she like the manager will make you feel at home. The leasing agent Danielle is very knowledgeable about the property and the area around the Retreat. So if you have a chance to talk to any of these ladies they will make you feel welcome all the time and can answer any questions that may come up. The other staff who works on any issues that arise from your apartment after you move in. They are great people also who will bend over backwards to make sure your apartment is livable and they handle all issues as fast as they can.
