I have lived here from day one and have watched the property go through several changes. I absolutely love the new property manager she is really getting things done around here and finally enforcing the rules. Maintenance is always very helpful and takes really good care of us residents. I simply love the changes and the staff great place to live!

    The Retreat in Mobile, Alabama is absolutely terrible .Management incompetence is beyond anything you can imagine. Lived there for four months and they decided to start enforcing a parking pass policy hidden in the contract. Two vehicles towed for $500.00 in one night! One of the vehicles was wrecked on the way to the towing yard. When questioning management, their response was that I needed to call the towing company "that wasn't his responsibility". Costs $200.00 to cool the apartment and thermostat is set on 76 during the day. Animal waste isn't picked up and left there indefinitely. The pool table area, in the building (3), is barely large enough for the table alone. There is one dumpster, that is well away from most buildings. I have to leave town and cannot shower because the water has been cut off for hours. They allow on-site staff to do all of the work, I get it (budget), but ridiculous is ridiculous. No clue when it will be fixed. Floors and ceiling are incredibly thin... You can have all of this for a mere $1020.00 a month! If you are thinking about The Retreat, Think again!!!!

      I am a current resident at the Retreat and it has its ups and downs. The biggest problem to me is pest control. Lately, there has been a problem with roaches. I have lived in MUCH cheaper apartments that never had this issue. Considering the rent prices, you would think that pest control would not be a problem. There has also been a problem with fire alarms going off, this is very inconvenient and annoying. The staff is nice, however, some issues have been handled poorly. For instance, a couple of months ago, the main water line busted and residents went without water for a whole day (the day before school started), and the staff made no attempt to make this up to the residents. I know problems arise, but I had to go elsewhere to shower and use the restroom. Once again, the rent is pricey, and it was inconvenient. As noted in prior posts....the parking is not great at all. On the bright side, the maintenance staff is GREAT, and the apartment layouts are nice.

        I became a resident of the retreat right when the community opened. I lived there three years and absolutely loved it. I can not say enough good things about the management and the maintenance men. They are truly amazing. They are always friendly, they always greeted me by name and are always willing to make sure you were happy. Anytime there was a maintenance issue they were there within a few hours. Parking does suck some nights but you always get a parking spot, you just might have to walk further than the normal few feet. (Parking is the reason they started parking passes, to ensure that residents get a parking spot.... They have posted EVERYWHERE, [the elevator memo boards, the front entrance gate,as well as notes the send to your door] that if you are a visitor to park outside the gate after 6pm or you could be towed) The retreat is truly one of the GREATEST places to live in mobile.

          I have lived at the Retreat for half a year now and I can honestly say its the best apartment living you can find in Mobile. Not only is it gated with parking passes but the staff is top notch. Pace the Assistant Manager definitely takes care of the residents, he is always willing to help out and get you what you need, not only are they friendly at the Retreat they are very reliable! The only downside is the parking sometimes. The amount you are paying in comparison to what you're getting is something you can't pass up! If you are looking for an apartment complex where you will truly enjoy living, I recommend you come check out the Retreat!

            I have lived at the Retreat for 6 months now and I enjoy every aspect of living here. It is a safe and friendly community and most of all the staff is amazing. They really go out of their way to help you out any way they can, in particular Assistant Manager Pace Josey. The work out facility is very nice, and the pool is absolutely wonderful!

              I am a current resident here at The Retreat and I have loved it since day one!!! The staff members here are amazing. They are friendly, readily available, and always willing to do whatever it takes to make you happy. I have personally dealt with all of the staff members but the Assistant Manager Pace is the main person with whom I normally interact. In fact, he is the one that got me here. Since I took a job in Mobile while I was still living in Pensacola, there was an urgency in my needing to find a good place to move. The Retreat seemed too good to be true, but it was everything it had promised and more. Pace stayed late after office hours several times in order to meet with me after I got off work to ensure that I had all the information needed. My move-in process was particularly easy, especially because of the convenient freight elevators, which fit all of my furniture, and the luggage carts. Any time I have questions or need anything, the staff is almost immediate to react. I am especially thankful for the pet vacation service that is offered at The Retreat. There have been several occasions when I have had to travel and could not take my dog, and the staff has always gone to my apartment to tend to my dog. There have even been times when I know I will not get home till late at night and Pace has been more than happy to take my dog for a walk. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

                I have lived at The Retreat for almost 2 years. The biggest reason I have stayed is because of the staff. They are always friendly, willing to help, and know me by name. Any time I have had an issue, it has been fixed in a timely manner. How many apartment complexes do you know that have events and cookouts on a regular bases for their residence? The Retreat does! The staff is always coming up with events for the complex community to get together. I have read a couple of the reviews and disagree. Lets be real, stuff happens to buildings and pipes no matter where you live! The only area of improvement for me is parking around my building. Other than that it is a great place to live.

                  A few days back I went down to Mobile in order to look at apartments. I am moving down there for school and don't really know the area. I had heard that the Retreat was recommended by several students and really went there on a whim not knowing much about the place. I had already visited several places such as Stone Ridge and Cypress Cove, so I had seen some places to compare it to. And honestly to me, the Retreat gave more and at a lower cost than those two. Stone Ridge was 795 for a much smaller space and honestly not a great layout. Cypress Cove was 830 and that was just out of my price range. I was surprised to hear the price for the Retreat was much lower at 720! It was definitely a pleasant surprise for sure :) First of all, I have to say how great the staff that I met were! Pace, the assistant manager, was extremely helpful and so nice! He essentially told us that anything you needed help with at all as long as it wasnt an outrageous request, they would try to help you with. Best customer service of all the places I looked for sure! He gave us the tour around the complex. Saw the weight room, the pool, and the apartments. The apartments were in interior hallways, which honestly was quite different than the other places I had seen. I can see pluses and minuses to that.. You are separated from the outside world and whatever weather could be happening, but at the same time kind of trapped.. So that's a personal choice there. But there are also elevators, so thats a plus there. The apartments themselves were absolutely beautiful! I loved the kitchen and the open floor plan! Washer and dryer was also included in every apartment. For me, it was a tight race between the Retreat and Timber Ridge. I was dead set on the retreat until I saw the last apartment I visited, Timber Ridge. The Retreat is absolutely gorgeous, but after visiting Timber Ridge I could see that the Retreat apartments were a little smaller. And honestly for one person it could absolutely work! But being a student, I really needed more space for a desk and a bookcase for school books.. It broke my heart to turn down the Retreat, but I knew I had to be practical here because I would be spending a lot of time studying in my apartment. So I would highly recommend the Retreat to anyone that doesnt mind a little bit smaller but absolutely beautiful apartment. Definitely check it out to see if it could work for you! :)

                    I moved here from a small town 10 mins from Memphis for a job promotion. I lived in a hotel for 2wks & someone that lived in Mobile recommended this complex. When i called about it i spoke with asst mgr Pace & he's been awesome from the word hello!! I called on a Fri & came by that afternoon to view apts. Pace already had an apt picked out for me. We viewed my apt empty first then he took me by the model so i could get a feel for the space & with furniture in it. I had my lease signed by the next Fri!! I had to drive back to Memphis that Fri afternoon & come back with ALL my stuff Sat in a 16' Penske truck with my car on a trailer on the back by myself. I made it here at 3am!! I had only met a few ppl since I've been here so one other person helped me unload. I couldn't finish it all Sun & had to go in late to work Mon. I finished unloading & one of the maintenance guys, Frank, spotted for me to get the trailer back on & hooked it up for me. Then i was in a big bind...i had to return the truck but somehow get back to my car so I could go to work...as a last resort i called Pace. No one else could do it...not even ppl i work with!! Pace said no problem, ill come get u!! He even had to wait while i had to go back to fill up truk with gas & ppl at penske had few computer issues. He still had smile on his face & never once complained!! If it wasn't for him i wouldnt have been able to get to wrk at all that day!!! Thats a BIG deal to me to miss wrk!!! Forgot to mention he checked on me the entire weekend to make sure the move & trip was going well!! Pace is an awesome asst manager & evryone, especially him, sold me just by having wonderful attitudes!!! I highly recommend this apt to live in!!!! I love it in Mobile & i love it at Retreats!!

                      Our son moved to mobile from Mississippi in December for an internship. It was a last minute opportunity which landed him in a motel for the first week. On Christmas Eve we were in Mobile trying to find a safe apartment we would feel comfotable leaving him in. The staff at the Retreat was more than accommodating. The were there on Christmas Eve rushing to get something ready for us last minute. They pulled it off and we were set up to move him in that evening. Being a leasing agent in Mississippi I know how hard this is, especially on a holiday. The apartments are very well kept. We have only had a couple minor maintenance request and they were taken care of right away. As a parent it has been a great peace of mind knowing he is at the Retreat. It is a great place in a great location. Even though it is a luxury complex with all the bells and whistles the staff alone is reason enough for us to choose The Retreat.

                        Fortunately, I learned that the staff from the Regional level to the leasing speacialist will mislead you in order to try and fill an apartment or keept a dollar. I was raised to treat people the way I would want to be treated, but unfortunately not everyone had the same raising. The leasing specialist lied about what would be done to the apartment, etc. before I moved in and a couple days before time to move in, I was informed that it wouldn't be done. Guess what? The Retreat had my money by then and of course they made the decision to hide behind the 72 hours cancellation policy. However, when they were informed that policy was broken by them, I was told that it was different, policy didn't matter then. I WOULD NOT recommend anyone to stay at this site, because the staff also talked about the different characters of renters who lived in various buildings. It seems to me, proper training need to be provided before someone get sued.

                          I actually enjoyed living at The Retreat. I had a 4th floor unit so I had the vaulted ceilings, which made the apt feel more spacious. I was the first tenant to live in my unit, so when I moved in, I did notice some construcion-type dust, but that was easily cleaned. I lived at the end of the hallway, so noise was minimal, and I always took the stairs, so I can't speak for the elevators. At first the water was not very hot, but maintenance came the next day to adjust the water heater and I never had any other problems. Towards the end of my lease, the fire alarms did go off a couple times, which was a little frustrating. When it came time for me to move out, I was told that I did not have to have the carpets shampooed (first tenant, no pets) and I got most, if not all, of my deposit back. If I still worked in West Mobile, I would have most likely renewed my lease. I loved my apartment at The Retreat.

                            I moved in here in the summer of 2011. When i first moved in, my hot water would not work. It took maintenence 3 trips and it still wasnt fixed. I fixed it myself by no joke, turning on the washer. Also, i asked for shelves in my kitchen cupboards, im still waiting for those. A pipe in the wall busted and flooded the bathroom and closet not even a week after i moved in. Ive heard its happened to alot of ppl. There is always at least one machine in the gym that is broken, and they unlock the pool area at different times every day. Also the times are not enforced. The fire alarms are uncontrolled, going off at all times in the night, and it takes them forever to shut them off. They are always coming into your apartment sometimes with hardly any notice to do something. Dont expect to get your deposi back either b/c YOU have to pay for carpet cleaning regardless of the condition of your carpet and the paint on the walls is the cheapest ive seen. I tried rubbing a scuff mark off with just my hand and the paint rubbed off to the wood. Its not worth the money, there aee so many more options in mobile. Also if you are disabled, good luck because the elevators are always breaking down. And theyre never in a hurry to do their jobs around here. Cant wait until my lease is up!

                              Management lied to me, gave me false information as far as what it would cost me to move out of my month to month lease, then sent me to collections for over a thousand dollars. I had pointed out pre existing damage inside the apartment, and yet they are now forcing me to pay for it. Though we kept the apt. very clean, no shoes on carpet and cleaned the apt as it was when I moved in, they forced me to pay for a professional carpet cleaning (I told them I would shampoo the carpet myself, they said no) How can anyone hope to get their deposit back if it's required that we pay for professional shampooing?? They didn't give me an opportunity to work out what they wanted for the last months rent, they have VERY poor attitudes and DID NOT try to work with me whatsoever. I DO NOT recomment these very high priced apartments to anyone. I can only guess part of the high cost to live there was to help cover the cost of the amenities (gym, theater) that I never used. Overall, if a half star were a choice that is what I would give this complex, and more importantly the staff needs a negative. I hope I never do business with anyone else of this caliber.

                                It was so bad experience lived in this poor apartment. It is a relatively new apartment complex, however, maintenance, and staffs are very poor. Here is issue in this apartment: NO Accommodation: Water main broke from the upstairs, so furniture, clothes, baby toys were all damaged, and so we had to stay there in very messed-up condition for 3days with my lovely infant. But the leasing office did NOT care the compensation at all. The ONLY care their carpets. I had to pay power bill for drying the wet carpets (about $100). No Sleep at Night: You CANNOT SLEEP AL ALL at night because of uncontrolled fire alarm. It is so noisy lasting about 30 mins at midnight (around 1am to 3am). The leasing office DID NOT FIX for about 2 months. I guess it is still not controlled right now. Bad smell in elevators and hallways because dogs pee everywhere. DO NOT LISTEN your complaints: Finally, please ask the leasing office to fix everything before you tell them that you are going to move out. Every single stuff they will charge even if it is not your fault. They charged $150 for a very tiny hole in the face of a bath tub which was not my fault. I told them several times that the bath tub itself is defective product. If you touch it, it is broken automatically because it is very thin. There are lots of better apartments near that area. USA students don't go there.

                                  Counting down the days

                                  We are counting down the months until our lease is up. The apartments themselves are nice, but the customer service is worse than you could imagine. We went out of town on a Friday morning and took one car - leaving the other parked in a parking place in the complex. Apparently, after we left, they put notices on our doors saying our cars needed to be moved for construction. I returned home on a Monday night with my husband and realized my car had been TOWED by the apartment complex. I immediately went to the office and they told me my car was not on file, etc etc. (which it was, but they had not updated in their computer system.) The tow company had to have my dad overnight paper work from Nashville, TN to prove he is the owner and it took a WEEK to get my car back. I had to pay $250 dollars to get my car back and they reimbursed me on the next months rent but refused to pay the $54.00 fee to have my paperwork overnighted, which was absolutely necessary in order to get my car back. I was told that we were ALL at fault. It was the biggest inconvenience and I was stranded at home with a six month old baby for a week! I have never seen such poor customer service and wouldn't ever recommend this complex to anyone. It's overpriced for the care you receive. It would be nice to feel welcomed and appreciated by your office staff. I thought the customer was always right... Next time you leave your apartment for any amount of time, be sure to let someone know. Otherwise, you may be blamed for going on a simple vacation!!!!

                                    sure ther are a few problems!!I AGREE THE OWNERS NEED TO FINISH THE BUILDINGS and give what they promised. over all it's nice. The people cause most of the problems here. If they'd follow the rules it would be a great place. we're not kids SLOW DOWN _PICK UP AFTER THEIR DOGS_ PARK WHERE THEIR SUPPOSE TO_THIS WOULD BE A SUPER PLACE .I don't think it's any better any where eles. staff dose a great job with what they have.

                                      I've been living here at the Retreat for 4 months and I can't wait for my lease to be up next year. I will definitely be finding a different place to live. The staff is mediocre, the grounds are always covered in dog waste and we moved into a brand-new unit and had problems right away. Cracks in the wall borders, nails in the carpet, uneven flooring, and a new broken dishwasher. There is also a bad bug problem here. We found roaches within the first week of living here. There is also a problem with wasps that the staff wouldn't take care of. I will not be renewing my lease, that's for sure.

                                        Great Place to Live

                                        My 80 yo dad and I moved from an apartment that was not easiliy accessible into a handicapped apartment here at The Retreat. We spoke with the manager Haley Monroe all during the building process, she kept us abreast of the availability of our apartment, and was extremely helpful with all the moving details. We moved in a scant month ago, but I can tell you, being able to access our home easily, with all the handicapped additions has been a blessing. We have pets and pets have been welcomed. The apartments are beautiful, lots of extra space to store and with a very helpful maintenance staff, you can make your apartment your own. We are adding ceiling fans to one room, a pot rack to the kitchen and extra storage over our laundry area. The staff continuously is helpful and courteous, they have community areas for all residents, wifi cafe with coffee, pool table, great workout room and a wonderful media room you can reserve for your family. We like living here more than any place we have lived in quite a long time

                                          Awesome Staff

                                          While living at the Retreat the staff there was really helpful with any questions we had. Mrs. Monroe,which is the Complex manager, went far beyond the standards in providing us assistance with problems we had. The maintainence workers are really quick to clean messes that disrespectful residents leave out and fix apartments problems. The pool is really nice and while I lived there was not busy. The entertainment room is also very nice as well. It has a pool table and a cinemia room....pretty pimp. Mrs. Monroe was by far the friendliest and nicest person I havent ever dealt with in apartment leasing..... heck ill stay any business in general. My wish is to one day own a business, I would be so lucky if I had someone like Mrs. Monroe to work there. I deal with rude people all day at my job. I understand people have bad days. Mrs. Monroe doesnt. Enjoy your stay and ill bet Mrs. Monroe will take good care of you!!!!

                                            My 15 Cents Worth Upon Visiting

                                            I've been all around looking for an apt and I'm so sick of putting in the same intro to all of them I'm going to skip how awful Country Club Woods is and just get to the point. This place is beautiful like most of the higher-end places I've seen. The reason why I believe you haven't gotten anything on this place (good OR bad) is because usually no one complains unless it's something bad and all the good reviews are by management disguised as tenants who are happy. A tenant here would have nothing to complain about - literally. Now of course *I* have one small issue; the price. $850 for a one bedroom is just too much. It just is. However, here's the many things that blows my little issue clean out of the water: (And I literally don't know where to start.) Pro: Most importantly, these apartments are BRAND NEW. Let me say it again: B_R_A_N_D N_E_W. The appliances, the carpet, the paint, windows - everything: BRAND NEW. They're not even finished building the rest of the apartments! You will be the FIRST PERSON to step foot into the apartment and live there. No covered-up holes in the walls. No nasty carpet that they tried to clean and make look new when it is not. No chipping pain nothing. Con: Because of this "newness," you have to reserve a place. It's a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 fee. Now that sucks, but other apartment complexes do it. They just call them "application" fees, "administrative" fees or some other excuse. Either way, you're going to be out of $400 - $450 to sign up with some place. It might as well be someplace new. Pro: THEY HAVE FREAKIN' ELEVATORS!!!! That's right ladies and gentlemen! Unlike other companies that break the complex down in separate buildings, (making it impossible to put elevators in all of them,) they have a hotel-style connection to them so you can carry your big furniture, washer, dryer - all that - without breaking your neck on the damn stairs. This also works great when you have a ton of groceries. Otherwise, you can take the stairs like you normally would. Con: No point is using that super-cool elevator for that washer and dryer because they already have them. I can't put my own in and lower the rent - BUT AT LEAST THEY ARE NEW!!! And did I mention they are GE appliances? And they can work on them and fix them since it s a part of their property! Pro: They have a nice kitchen and billiards area that looks just like a nightclub. They have a theatre room and a fitness area. The pool is attached in the back. Con: Online it looks a LOT better. The fitness room is about one of each exercise type and any one person can totally occupy the place - though the free weights are nice. The Cinema room has a Wii in it so that means (I feel) kids are going to take the place over once they fill it up and the grown folks will never be able to enjoy it - and the same goes for the billiards table. In addition, they don't cover any utilities - not even cable. So to pay $1056 for a two bedroom is a bit much. It's still under construction and a lot of places haven't been opened yet. They charge more over things like facing the woods, being on a top floor, etc. (All the folks that work there live on the top floor so that's less for the folks that pay full price to have, but it's still a VERY nice place.) All the floor plans are the same so if you wanted a two-bedroom vs. a one, just cut off the master bed, bath and closet and there you go. Now to me, there was something missing from the one bedroom, but it could be because I saw the two bedroom first. Either way, they are very nice and I LOVE THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING IS NEW NEW NEW! Don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself. You may have an issue with the price, but that's all you'll have an issue with.
