HORRIBLE!!
For the love of God, if you value your happiness, do NOT move here. The staff is decent, but the buildings and maintence are horrible. We had two break in's on our floor right after we moved in because the doors downstairs do NOT lock. Anyone can get into your building. The management is constantly turning on and off water, and they can't keep up with your rent payment. I've been to the office several times because they say our rent is late when it actually wasn't. They will try to get money out of you any way possible.<br><br>I've lived here since December, and if I could go back and do it all over again, I'd run far away from Renaissance Apartments. It's a disgusting building, bad management, and horrible, horrible security. Get away!!

Don't do it!
I lived here during the summer of '05 and ended up having to break my lease because it was so depressing.<br>I was fine for about a month, then all of a sudden the roaches came out of nowhere! Their excuse was that they sprayed the apartment above mine, so they all ran down to mine. I got mine sprayed, but nobody cared to tell me I had to move any dishes or anything, so I had to move it all while the technician glared at me, and repeatedly had to promise I'd wash everything before I used it. Hooray! Well, the roaches came back like a week later. It was disgusting. I killed one that was the size of silver dollar. It was disgusting.<br>When I told the management (AJ at the time) it was like one big joke. I was so upset. <br>I paid them the correct fee for breaking the lease (2 months rent) and then one day I was told through the grapevine that AJ was going around and telling people I didn't even really know that I had insufficiant funds and it bounced, even though it didn't. Such a jerk. <br><br>Don't move in here, you'll just be… See More>anonymous

Bad, bad, bad, bad
I live in the E building, and let me tell you that this place is awful. My husband and I have lived here since September 2006 (six months). The gates do not lock. The pool, which is supposedly heated, has not been heated for more than a week total since we moved in. Neither of the hot tubs has been heated consistently for the entirety of our living here. The management consistently gives us only two-three days warning when they need to do such meanial tasks as measuring windows and spraying for pests. When they sprayed for pests, not only did the bugs return within a week, but they required us to completely empty the kitchen cupboards and drawers, but only gave us five days to do so. They consistently require that pets be moved to various rooms, and the hot water is shut off at least once a week "for repairs". The windows are filthy, with no way to clean the outside of them. The workers--who do not speak English--consistently drop heavy materials from the roof to the ground. One day, they were dropping items right in front of the main doors, and they did not indicate they were… See More>gotgruvs

Stop Bitching!
I have been living here for 3 years and have been through serveral managers. For the past year I've seen alot of changes for the better. I have spoken to the manager and she is stern and to the point. Not the most friendly person, but her office staff (Vicky)compensates for that, SMART LADY! Get over it people the building was built in the 60's. Now I'm told we are going to go through a big renovation and my neighbors are BITCHING about that! WHAT'S UP? First they were bitching about things not getting fixed and now that they are complaining about the renovation. There are to many other places to live so if you don't like it here then MOVE! I'm tired of hearing the neighbors ----- and complain. If this is what the office people have to go through, they deserve a BIG BONUS!!!!!!

Form your own opinion
I have lived at the Renaissance for about 6 months now and as I was reading through the comments posted, I felt compelled to express my thoughts. I realize that this property is an older building and every property has its issues but there have been many changes in just a short amount of time. The on-site management has been very responsive to my complaints and saw that they were addressed in a timely fashion. I have had my water shut off I felt that the situation was handled as quickly as possible.<br><br>My unit is very spacious and personally I have not had problems with roaches in my unit like other comments suggest. Call me blessed if you want but I belive it is clean hygene. <br><br>I am in the middle of my lease and when it is time to renew, I will most certainly do so. I believe that all of those who read some of these outlandish comments should go to the property and check it out for yourself and then form your own opinion.

The Worst!
Lived there for three years. The first year was okay, but isn't everything just peachy when you first live in a place. Before I moved, I found out how wrong I could be. Like everyone else has been saying...<br><br>Roaches, cracked walls, terrible parking situation, common grounds unusable, laundry rooms discusting, water leaks from the ceiling, asbestos, mold, dryrot, fungus, smells like someone died! <br><br>I will say one thing, the new management is trying to make things better. I would stay away for a little while

IF THERE IS A HELL THIS MUST BE IT
I lived at the Renaissance almost a year ago. I was there for a little over a year, which was a little over a year too long. Imagine dying and going to hell. It would have to be soooo much better than this place. You see, in the beginning, when God had His problem with -----, He would have rented him an apartment at the Renaissance, but it hadn't been built yet. Blame it on old plumbing. Blame it on cockroaches that were used on the X-Files. Blame it on the half dozen or so porn stars (forgive me, adult film actresses) who live there. Blame it on sewer water (pardon me, "toilet overflow") that pours down from your ceiling ever couple of months. Or the mold or the asbestos. Blame it on dirty hallways that haven't learned how to become self-cleaning. Or a lackof parking if you are on the first floor. But most of all, blame it on management that doesn't give a flying frack about anything. And, by the way, NEVER MOVE INTO A PLACE THAT OFFERS A MOVE-IN SPECIAL!<br><br>So, anyway, after getting most… See More>anonymous

Absolutely Disgusting
I have nothing positive to say about these apartments. This place belongs in the ------, not in Woodland Hills, what a disgrace to the community. The management skills are poor and they are very unfriendly, sit on their buts all day and eat. Roaches like I have never seen before. Please stay away.

It's not BAD or WORSE. It's WORST.
Roaches, cracks, elevator problem, dirty laundry rooms and the list keeps going. The apartment size is good and that's the only plus point. Rest everything sucks.

what a fabulous look! i really dig the plastic wrapped building! lol
what a pile of ----. like bricking the planters is really going to stop the walls from seeping water into the units. keep kidding yourself. not to mention the smell of garbage in the hallways. what an embarrassment. who would want to admit they even live here? not to mention the elder abuse. you should be turned into the health department and fair housing. oh and linda, the manager is a b*itch and doesn't give a ---- about the residents.

RENTERS BEWARE!
Where do i begin. Lets start with cockroach infestation, every building is permeated with roaches, ants, fruit flies, spiders, silverfish, its absolutely terrible! Do they spray for insects you ask, yes! Every Week! what does that tell you. Next Lets move on to the Mildew problems; black mold, holes in the ceilings, many bad leaks. Broken air conditioners every week it seems. And what does Management say about all this? Well when they're not out of town, on vacation, or out to lunch (oh and they cant be reached on weekends; so hopefully your living room ceiling doesnt cave in on a saturday)<br>When they can be seen in the office its always behind closed doors, you want to leave a message go ahead, they will never return it. <br>I feel so sorry for all the many seniors living here at Renaissance with broken AC units roasting in their apartments unable to move to a cooler location because they cannot walk down all of the stairs due to non-functioning elevators. Does any one have contacts at the local health department?<br>And lastly dear renters, I hope your family doesn't have more than ONE compact size car because covered parking here is… See More>anonymous

bugs bugs bugs roach
The apartment itself is actually pretty nice.Nice big kitchen.. but the major problem is the bugs.. they are all over the nice big kitchen.. but the apartment is pretty big and i have no complaints with the management.<br>Also the bathrooms are so close to the fire alarm that if you shower with the door open it sets it off every time.. plus no window in the shower so it gets quite stuffy..<br>All and all its an ok place to live.. does have a nice pool and staff. the biggest problem is the bugs.. if they bother you dont live there.

Upsetting AC Experience
The recent heat wave that hit the San Fernando Valley over the weekend had temperatures nearing 118 degrees. Saturday afternoon, the AC shut down around 3:00 ish. The property manager and assistant manager were out of town and the problem did not get resolved till late Monday night. Tenants in my building were complaining about the heat on the top floor expressing their concern about the apartments being hotter than it was outside. <br><br>I work with property management companies and have experienced many different approaches to apartment managing. In my professional opinion, the slow response time to fix the AC problem during the record-breaking heat waves was totally unprofessional. The girls in the leasing office were in the center of hell dealing with complaints from tenants and unable to provide sufficient answers to solve the problem. The maintenance crew was doing what they could to fix the problem, but it was clear that a professional AC company needed to come to the property as soon as possible to resolve the problem.<br><br>On Monday, I had called the leasing office to get an update. After a frustrating conversation with a lady in the office, I walked down to the leasing office… See More>barbarabarbara

Oh My God!
If your things is cockroaches crawling on your food every meal. If you love flooding. If the thought of competent management makes you ill. Well then you'll love the Renaissance. The place is so filthy, hallways, elevators, grounds, it makes you just want to take a shower at Auchwitz to end it all. What a vile place run by an even viler bunch of people!

don't you have any better to do? apparently not..
i have been living at this property for the last year and i don't have too many complaints. i realize that i am not the only resident and the world does not revolve around me. if i have a problem and they can't get to it that day, well then it's ok. as for the roaches, i haven't personally had any, but i can understand why SOME people would have them... if you can't clean and practice personal hygiene.. well.. you have your answer.

Poor Construction - do your research
I have lived here for 10 months and will be moving out shortly. Reasons:<br><br>1.Poor Construction - you can hear everything your neighboors do..walking, showering, talking - horrible walls.<br> *Pipes are horrible-They are rusted so most the time you water is anywhere from a light yellow shade to a rusty orange shade<br><br>2.Maintenence - It is hard to get anything fixed unless it is an emergency. Even that might take a couple of days.<br><br>3.Parking- If they promise you a covered parking spot dont believe it - you want get one and if you get a spot it will be in a different buildings parking area.<br><br>4.Cleanlines - Beware of roaches...all different species and the constant smell of mold. I had to buy a hepa filter for each room to be able to breathe.<br><br>ADVICE- If you cant get something on the 3rd floor and your neighboors arent quite...SAVE YOUR MONEY<br>

Nightmare - Stay Away
Roof is falling apart. Air Condition is broken for the last three month. Repeated requests have been answered with a "we know of the problem we are working on it and it will take two weeks". I was asked to leave my windows open when I last complained. Leasing office staff extremely unproffessional and rude. Maintenance workers are good but severely understaffed. Maintenance requests are never met immediately. Stay away at all costs. I won't stay here beyong my lease.

Not too happy
Unprofessional Staff.<br><br>Cockroaches and strange looking bugs (no clue what they are.)<br><br>Old buildings; walls are not as solid as new construction and you can hear people above you about 75% of the time when they are just walking.<br><br>Outside property well maintained (looks nice) - the buildings (stairways, hallways, elevators, laundry facilities) are not.<br><br>Always get the office answering machine and they do not return messages; you have to walk into the office or get lucky to catch someone on the phone to get help.<br><br>Stange people have started to hang out around the property at night, and I do not feel safe; in addition, you can often find "secured" gates open or broken, some car gates open on own without an opener.<br><br>There are often fire engines and police at one of the many buildings.<br><br>They have a 72 hour policy on repairs but do not adhear to it; often have to call on the 3 day to find out where they are with the request.<br><br>I've lived here about a year and WILL be moving at the end of my lease.<br>Too bad all the other apartment ratings for the area are just as bad. :(<br>

Be ready to be condemned if you move here
The lady in the leasing office shows no respect to any tenant. Often ridicules tenants with geniune complaints! She is rude, pathetic and incorrigible. She will smile only till new customers put in their very last signature in the lease paper<br>Welcome to Hell after that. Atleast you have a nice ----- in Hell!

Worst place ever!
This has got to be the worst place you could ever possibly move to. For one, the management is completely unprofessional and rude. If they're not busy arguing with tenants, chances are they're probably lying to you about the qualifications necessary to move in. And when the managers arent causing you grief, you can bet that the cockroaches crawling in your apartment are. Any person with common sense would know better than to move in here. Don't be fooled by the free first month's rent and cheap security deposit. They just want to suck you in to a 12 month lease so you're screwed!!

Don't be deceived by the three good reviews
They were written by the managment. The place needs to be condemned. Horrible odors. Roaches everwhere. Flooding all the time. Better move to Rangoon. It would be a far better experience. And why is my rating showing as a 3 when I gave it a 1?

I guess I am lucky
I read all the horrible posts on here and am glad I got one of the not so bad apartments here. We do have roaches, but are able to control them with stuff from Home Depot, and it leaves only a few here and there. When my ceiling leaked, I had a maintenance person here within minutes, and they did a spectacular job of cleaning up after themselves and were very nice. The people in the office seemed helpful the few times I've needed them. I am sure there are apartments here that are terrible, it is a very old building. I guess I got lucky with my unit.
