Just Awful
Apparently they had a name change. Used to be called Renaissance Apartments. I moved in on November 1, 2008, so I'm not certain what the previous management is like, but the new management is just awful! The staff here is so bad that it borders on comical. It is quite obvious, from their attitudes, that they do not care one iota about the tenants or their jobs and are not afraid to let you know how little they think of you when you need help with something. Don't just take my word for it; read the other reviews on here! There must be a reason why all these people take time out of their days to warn you about this place. Don't make the same mistake I made. I just wish I had seen these reviews before I signed my lease here!

New Management...same old s**t
Yes indeed we have a new management and same old s**t. Two buildings were refinished outside but the the insides are the same(everything is falling apart). Just when we thought the new management will bring in better service, well...NOT AT ALL. They are very unorganized. One staff will say one thing and when you follow up with the other, she's as clueless as she can be. They make the tenants wait for a long time while they gossip about the other tenant who just came out of the office, what a group of unprofessional staffs! What's worse is they talk trash about their manager Cristine just when she is not around. And that b***h Tiffany is not only very unprofessional handling tenants, she's freaking clueless about a lot of thing...what an airhead!!! Hopefully the company who manages this apartment will hire better staff than what they have right now.

Looks Can Be Deceiving!
I am not one who writes reviews but I needed to get this one out to save others from wasting their time going to this place. The complex looks nice from a distance and the staff was very receptive. I wanted to rent and was shown two apartments in two different buildings. The hallways were somewhat dingy, filthy and smelly. The stench in one of the hallways was beyond imagination and comprehension. Seriously, I NEVER smelled anything so foul in my life! I had to hold my breath till I no longer could, just to make it through the hallway to the apartment. Either the management is utterly negligent or some of the tenants are from the deep recesses of a sewer. Incredible! Needless to say, I didn't rent at The Mercer. DON'T EVEN BOTHER TO VISIT THE PLACE. I will not live there for free. I know they are renovating the facade of the buildings but the whole place needs an overhaul.

Don't even think about coming here! It's a dead zone!
We were fooled into coming to a decent looking complex offering spacious floorplans and renovation that was to be completed in less than 6 months. It's been 10 months and they haven't even touched our building. The photos in the ads make it look much better than it really is. The outside has been remodeled on a couple of buildings but it doesn't mask the horror underneath. There are roaches in the pipings and the walls so regardless of how clean you are, they will come and they will reproduce!!! Dog feces always cover the lawn; cars get stolen, dented or broken into; management doesn't give a rats #!?! what your concerns or complaints may be; and it is noisy at night outdoors and in neighboring tenants. This is an old and ugly apartment, go somewhere else unless you want to regret a 12 month locked lease that you can't get out of. We are moving as soon as we can!

Unprofessional, Unmaintained, False Promises
I expected change with the new management - unfortunate, all's the same. The front office would not ask you to seat, they won't even care sometimes hat you are there, they won't pick up phones, even they won't be able to give you the security personnel's (onsite) number - worst security, false promises on construction. Management reluctant to take actions on people breaking lease policies of noise etc.

DESPERATE ATTEMPTS BY THE OWNERS TO RAISE THEIR SCORE
The last post is yet another post by the desperate management/owners to raise their scores to an acceptable level. The complex is nothing short of squalor. The apartment are infested. There is flooding and mold and asbestos. The grounds have feces that is hardly ever picked up. And the management and owners are pompous jerks, who sit around on their assets growing fat. The complex survives either by its high turnover rate and by preying on old people who have nowhere else to go. They are a pathetic group of arrogant, selfish boors, who deserve to go to hell. And what does hell look like. Why the Renaissance, of course! Oh, and if you live on the first floor, forget having anywhere to park. You need to park on the street, which has street cleaning and ticketing every week.

Coffee and management
Well if you have not noticed, I thought I would let my fellow bloggers know that there seems to be a new management staff in the rental office. I for one, am looking forward to the change.... Let's see what happens... The coffee has improved

Filthy place to live
We moved in beacuse of the cheap rates, and you get what you pay for. Every time it rained water poured down our walls, and it ruined a good deal of our belongings, the first time it happned. There were multiple leakes upstairs in someones pipes, leaving water to dump down our apartment that way, and it left the carpet smelling awful! It took multiple attempts to get them to replace the carpet. We lived there a year, and in the time we lived there, the leaks never stopped. There was also trash outside in the window planters constantly, and they would leave huge dumpsters infront of the apartments that people would overfill, and they would get left like that and get putrid and stink. On top of all of this there was a fantastic amout of vermin, and we constantly had problems with mold in our living room. The A/C also never worked. It would not have been so bad if the office staff cared, but their goal was to avoid, avoid, avoid. It was never their fault, or their problem that any of this occured.

You get what you pay for...
Even though rent is cheap, I definitely would NOT recommend living here. The management absolutely does not do a good job. I have had so many complaints and so many problems with my apartment.

WARNING! THEY WILL RUIN YOUR CREDIT!
I lived at this roach motel for two years. It was infested with German cockroaches. I would put food down and go to eat and there they would be. I would be at my computer and one would run across the keyboard. It was like the movie Joe's Apartment, only the roaches didn't sing or dance. Even now, two years out of there, I still have flashbacks. Plus there was toilet flooding from above that ruined all my stuff. Plus mold. Plus asbestos contamination. Dog feces outside. Female porn stars in my buidling...well, that was a plus, I guess. The management was obnoxious and gave the impression of being the Al-Qaeda of Woodland Hills. I stopped paying rent when my stuff got destroyed. Antiques, books, personal, irreplaceable items. They took me to court to evict me. But before the jury trial, they settled. We signed a 2 page agreement saying I owned them nothing if I moved out by the end of the month, which I did, and I would get my deposits back. But they never filed a satisfaction of judgment with the court and took page one, which looked… See More>anonymous

Beware!
Please do not be fooled by the exterior (a work in progress) or the customer service provided only in the beginning. Management is fixing what's on the surface...thin walls, lack of parking late at night, dog feces covering the lawn daily, unreturned phone calls from the leasing office, AND cockroaches are among a few problems we've encountered since moving here. We've only lived here a few months and we want out! I've paid the same amount of rent in Irvine and never dealt with any of these issues. Look elsewhere or you'll regret it!

soviet russia had better housing!
We were forced to move quickly and felt we'd found paradise here. Then we moved in...less than a month later they started their "renovations." The place became a third world camp complete with lots of illegals doing the "work." All they did was stir up the roaches, the dust, etc and make this place terrible beyond belief. It smelled, the stairway was filled with graffiti most of it begging for help to kill all the bugs! All and all, this was the worst experience of my adult life, actually giving money to a place where rain water poured in after even a little rain, mold, dirt, hallways that were never cleaned, I actually paid for the adventure of living there. Don't get me started on how many flat tires I had after all the nails and mess left by the "workers." It was terrible. I feel badly for the elderly people who live there, treated like crap by the management. But, I believe the lovely management team will be rewarded in their own way someday soon...you can't treat others like this and not have it affect you! We lived there only a short time and were fortunate enough to… See More>anonymous

Warning: Please, there are several apartment communities then
Please there are several apartment communities than Renaissance. Leasing office (Mayra) is playing Nicke & dime with people who come to inquire or to lease apartment. There are roaches, water shut off mostly once a week, parking problem, no patio, awful neighbors-will only find drug sellers & gangster. Rent is high compared to other communities, no scenerio, you will never find any help from leasing office. Even, more than couple of parcels were missing which has been delivered to leasing office.........can't write more, forget to lease in renaissance.

shame on the management!
i'm posting for my mother, who has lived there for over 15 years. the new management is very abusive to residents , many elderly. Linda, the Manager IS a MEAN PERSON! I won't go into detail to protect my mom, but, will join with complainers to do something about the obvious chasing out of tenants to make room for higher rent payers. this building use to be realy nice. now, there is an ugly element of new tenants moving in. the renovation project is a sham, causing chaos, broken-down elevators, stress, and some tenants to just move out, as planned by the MANAGERS/ OWNERS .

This place is a housing project for meth dealers, porn stars, pedophiles, and the elderly
If you are into the whole cockroaches the size of a doorknob in your shower and spiders the size of your palm this is the place for you! The building looks like crap.In my building they shoot porn! All of the old people here have almost taken me into to depression. The hallways smell horrible. The water is shutoff every week. Linda the manager is an idiot and never has any concern for the tenants she only cares about her stupid pathetic life. Not only are the old people smelly and annoying, they are rude and have no respect for anyone but other old people. One time my son was in the pool and they forced him to get out so they can have some old people workout club and when he gets out they use 1/4 of the pool when he gets back in they kick him out again. When he went and told Linda she told him to deal with it himself. I'm so happy to be moving soon the second i leave i will spit in Linda's stupid ignorant face and move on with my life. The one pleasant thing about this apartment was one of the… See More>anonymous

ROACH MOTEL
DO NOT MOVE IN HERE! Dont be fooled by the renovations. On the inside this place is decaying! There are roaches by the hundreds in your apartment by midnight. Make this your absolute last option before considering moving in. We have lived here for 8 months and breaking our lease to leave early. They can keep their first month free rent, we are out of there.

This place is for HOMELESS people...
Look for any apartment but this one. I have lived here for over two years now. Managment is horrible. I am a really clean freak person but my place has gets lot of roaches. Small ones but they make me sick. The apartment size is big but besides that everything is bad. The drawers, the wood everything was burnt up in the fire long time back and it's all repainted now. They usually shut off water once every week when they are doing Plumbing and it's been going on past 4-5 months. Even though I have lived there over two years, my listing is not in the directory next to the Building entrance, so I have to go downstairs and walk all the way to next building to open the gate when anyone comes to visit us. Locks at most of the gates are broken. Someone broke into my car a month back and the car next to mine got stolen, 3 months back. This is place is a Getto. Washer/Dryers are not working and filled with dirty detergents. Basically for me ROCHES and CAR THEIFT were the biggest problem, I can deal with the rest. And yes, the managment didn't give a damn, when I went to complain… See More>anonymous

Wht a joke
I've recently moved out from thr Renaissance Apartments. I managed to tolorate that place for four years. I've seen better living conditions in IRAQ. If you are thinking about moving there, please don't. Let me give you the low down of that place. 1- The roaches are no joke. They are permanent residence, you are the visitor. 2- The management sucks, to high hell. They have poor attitudes, the are very short, as to be always disturbed. 3-The maintenance never show up to fix problems. 4-Every month, the air condidtioner is out. 5-The elevator has been out of order for 10 days. 6- Did I mentioned that the management sucks, 7- The parking is bad. There is no security or police 8- There are drugs. 9 Did I mentioned that the maintnance nevers repairs anything. 10-There are suppose to have 24 hour security on site, well need t say that my car was stolen from beneth the parking structure, which is suppise to be secured,

If I had found this site sooner!
I have lived at the Renaissance for over a year. The hallways may have been vacuumed at the most 2 times. If you want to remember something for a long time, just throw it on the floor and you will be seeing it for a very long time. When we first moved in we had flashbacks from the movie Joe's apt. we were battling roaches for weeks. The hallway carpets are disgusting and old, the ventilation has not worked ever just noisy, If you need something fixed, do not bother calling the management, They will either be very short with you or be nice and do nothing about your problem. The gates are mostly open all over, although we have not had any security problems, I do not consider this place Safe! (although the neighborhood is generally nice). I feel that for the money they charge, they do not provide any service whatsoever. Management is mostly rude, incompetent and indifferent to the tenant needs. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Turn the other way!!
My boyfriend and I fell in love with the way the Renaissance looked when we viewed it online. After we actually went to view the apartment facility our feelings changed. There are only two leasing agents and they do not know how to do their job. One minute they tell you something and the next they state that they never said that. The managers are RUDE!!! I could not believe how the assistant manager as well as the actual manager spoke to myself as well as my boyfriend. Both the managers I spoke with were very rude and blattenly stated that the issue we were dealing with was not their problem. After speaking with the actual manager she was worse than the assistant. Rude, unprofessional, and disappointing. I never thought people from a leasing office could act like this. Thankfully we did not sign a lease with this property because if we were having this much problems prior to our move in then I would hate to see how they were going to be after signing the lease. Whatever you could do to stay away from this property I… See More>anonymous

No Roaches In My Apartment Quit Complaining Start Cleaning
I have lived here for a year and no roaches.......I was a bit worried about that seeing these reviews before I moved in but we all know the kind of complainers there are out here. They must be SLOBS if they are inundated with Roaches. Linda in the office is really nice and helpful. True the maintenance turnaround is not 24 hours, but it does occur within the week. The apartment is BIG and you should remember it is an older building so quit complaining and just clean your darn apartment and you wont have to worry about roaches.......

Not too many complaints here.
I've lived here for 6 months. As far as roaches go I haven't seen one yet. I guess if you take your trash out and do the dishes every day you'll be fine. I live in the B building which is on the east side of the complex. Directly across the street is a body shop that is pretty annoying sometimes. Our 2 bedroom is big but not cheap, around $1600. The pool is nice and there's a brand new bbq area but the gym is pretty weak. All and all I would recommend it

It's pretty awful.
Like the saying goes 700 Frenchman can't be wrong. Look at the reviews and decide for yourself. I am definitely in the NO! don't move here camp. 1) My car gotten broken into twice and the staff couldn't care less. Their reply "Gates are a deterrent. Not protection." I asked about having some kind of security patrol. No answer. 2) The locks on the doors don't work. Just pull and you're in. 3) It almost looks nice from the outside. But whoa the odors in the hallways are downright disgusting and embarrassing to bring friends over. 4) The Maintenance guys are nice but s l o w (takes at least a week or more to get anything done around here.) All this and actually, I happen to have one of the apts. with a good view of trees. Most don't. It's a dump. I believe they are trying. But real ACTION IS what's required here not lip service. And even that is minimal.
