So very VERY glad I moved. The good: 1. Cheap rent for a nice place. The apartments are built well, and are fairly cheap to cool/heat (our bill was ~$50/month for both electricity and water). In the coldest months (-17 degrees F) we paid ~$100 in electricity 2. Pets allowed, both dogs and cats, but no rodents/fish/reptiles. 3. Close to town. I could get just about anywhere in about 15 mins...very convenient 4. Live-in cop. Keeps the place "safe". Sort of. See below in "the bad" The bad: 1. Non-technical maintenance (so, toilets, oven, screen doors, everything but HVAC basically) took weeks to complete. I told them my toilet ran every night. Their response,"We didn't find anything wrong with it". I asked literally 3 times, over the course of two months to have the side door which prevents people from off the street from entering the building to be fixed. I had to finally leave a message on their voicemail (this after 2 visits in-person) requesting that this obvious security flaw be fixed. Done the next day. 2. Geese. So. Many. Geese. They honk EVERY MORNING from 7:00 am -> 8:30. So, great if you get up before then, free alarm clock, right? Oh wait, it occurs on the weekends too. These aren't quiet "Honks i can block out with a fan/radio/earplugs" honks. These woke me from deep REM through the 2x plane glass windows. 3. Be ready to hear your neighbors. You'll hear every heated argument that occurs in their living room. Bed rooms seem to be better insulated, but still, very annoying. 4. High cost of laundry. $1.50/Dry, $1.25/wash. $3.75/full cycle. Let's say it takes ~4 loads (the units are TINY) to do your laundry. That's $15/week. 15*52 = $780/year. You'd think at that rate the managers could keep the units working right? WRONG. There are only ever 2 washers/driers (out of 4) in working order. Also, 5. Staff. The staff is self-righteous, conceited, and apparently convinced that they walk on water and heal illnesses with a smile. Don't be taken in by their "warm" demeanor when you check the place out. They called out to me by name only when they were showing a prospective renter around the grounds. Any other time I made eye contact/waved I was ignored. Further, they just don't do their jobs. I asked many, many, many times for my online "renter portal" information to be added to my profile so I could pay my bills online. Never happened. We're talking 2 years, I'd ask every couple months, "Hey, have you done that yet?", "Oh, no, Sorry! We've been so busy!" There is no sense of subservience, no "Oh...You pay my salary...maybe I should listen to your desires". None of that. When I pay someone for a service, I expect that they'll treat me with a bit of respect, regardless of my age or ethnicity. The monochromatic hiring policies (spoiler alert: you won't find a single person of color on staff) are outdated and ought to be addressed (I suggest firing the manager and her office worker) 6. Live in cop. Total. Jerk. The cop gets a discount for living there, so long as he (this is in his contract) "Knocks on doors which is causing a problem until the person open the door" (this told to me, verbatim, by one of the office staff). Seems rather illegal to me, but I'm no lawyer. 7. If you rent a carport ($15/month, NOT INCLUDED with rent) be prepared to have a soviet-american-esque cold war to establish that you are now paying for and using that spot. Unpaying residents park in the carports that others pay for, and the management refuses to do anything other than put a piece of paper on their car asking them to not do it again. The sign that says, "Violators will be towed at owner's expense" is a laugh; no one was ever towed. If it were me, I'd keep *accurate* records of whose car has what license plate, and if someone parked in the premium spots that wasn't supposed to, I'd bill them for that month. 8. Internet war. Apparently one of the other residents thought it a good idea to try to DDoS my router. Meaning, they sent millions of "Disconnect" signals per second to my router to try to kick me off. So, if you plan on having wifi, be careful...there are likely cyber criminals living at fountain lake. 9. Mail. You can only get mail on the weekends from 9am-12 (noon) on saturday. That's. It. No Sunday mail pickup available at all. Ever. No matter what. The mail boxes themselves are small, meaning if you order a large magazine, be ready to have it scrunched up and torn to fit in your mailbox. All in all? I'd suggest you pay the extra money to live somewhere nice or get a smaller spot somewhere else. This community is going downhill fast. If you've got nowhere else to live, still go somewhere else. Never have I felt so objectified by a renting agency as at fountain lakes. They say you're "In Good Company", but this location doesn't properly represent IGC.

I've been at Fountain Lake for about a year and can't complain...but I can't boast either Pros: Balcony/Patios are well maintained THICK walls (RARELY hear neighbors) Paint and carpet are new Courtesy officer lives in building Management is helpful+kind; helped me scout out new apartments when I got a new job HVAC (All electric) works well, electricity is always under $80, and often $40-50 Though there are 3 buildings, each has its own key, so people from building A can't get into C etc.. Can pay bill online Cons: Since pets are allowed, dogs can be heard being taken out at all hours Courtesy officer's pretty rude, but it's nice knowing he's there if needed Not much storage space in the unit and storage area is in basement, made of 2x4's and chicken wire. There have been thefts from these, as others can clearly see all stored possessions. Breaking a lease requires 2 month's rent, as well as 30 days notice (so you'll end up paying for 3 months essentially) No month-to-month options available Car port is extra $15/month There's something weird with how the hot water's handled, as the Neutral: No on-unit laundry, and the laundry room's seen better days. The washers/dryers break down frequently, but the maintenance fixes them just as fast. $1.50 to wash, $1.25 to dry, about twice as much as I paid in college dorms ~2 years ago. Would I recommend? Yeah. For someone living on a low/mid income, or with children, this is a nice place. The pool's clean (there's a fence around it), the internet's fast, and management is very polite and helpful. For what we have, ($535, 1000 sqft, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths) it's very reasonable. People can smoke in their units, but the sealings around the door are good, so you can't smell it if you're home.

I have lived at Fountain Lake for over a year now. I chose this apartment community out of so many others because of their friendly staff and how welcome they made me feel. The property is beautiful and offers a nature like feel. It is very peaceful and I have felt like they actually care about me. I have even had staff bring a package to my door, as I wasn't going to be able to get to the office before it closed. My apartment is huge and you can't find something with this amount of space for the price anywhere! I am very happy that I chose Fountain Lake and look forward to a few years to come.

the propert manager who must think she is --------------, she is so dumb she reminds me of Humpty never addresses the goose dropings all over the property! She talks to you like you are an idiot and has a fake smile that makes me sick! my AC was out for over a week and she did not even offer a window unit or anything! the one day, it was over 90 degrees in my apartment and she was at some other property working somewhere else? What kind of company is this? Why isn't there somebody here everyday making sure to the problems and concerns of the residents here are taken care of? so glad that I am movin I feel like this lady is a complete moron. I just talked to her on monday and had to refrain from striking her. thats how mad i was getting this was on the phone and i wanted to walk up there to the office i was so mad. they cant even keep a decent team here. all the maintenance men quit or leave as well. The rest of the staff seems ok except for her lerchy bodyguard maintenance man who is always in the office. puke. makes me sick. cant wait to leave puke puke puke. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone EVER.

I secured an apartment over the phone about a year ago when I was moving out of state. Kimberly was the one and only person that gave me the time of day after I called like 25 places. Most places blew me off because I was moving from out of state. She was so helpful and engaging. I appreciated the extra time and attention she gave me and she even e-mailed me photos of the actual apartment to my e-mail. I put down a deposit over the phone that same day I was so impressed. My husband and I decided not to move in after visiting the place in person. The grounds looked nice but the parking area and external buildings looked a little scary. The laundry room was in the basement of the building and quite far from our actual apartment even with the elevator. We were looking forward to using the elevator for moving stuff in but there was no way furniture would fit in the elevator. The laundry room was also super dark and scary looking. The balconies were huge and lovely but it seriously looked like my next door neighbor could easily just step on to my balcony. I also saw a lot of smokers outside on their patios when touring. The inside of the apartment was the most spacious I have seen for the asking price. It was super huge. I was in love with the bathroom and kitchen but one of the bedrooms was super smaller then the other so much so we decided not to move-in after securing over the phone. When I asked if any of the $150 deposit was refundable I was told no. The apartment was held for one week from the date of deposit so I thought this was a little steep but did not argue. Please note I rated Parking, Noise, and Maintenance three stars since there was no way to not rate these items and I did not want to be unfair to the apartment since I never lived there. I rated grounds, safety, construction, staff and overall based on my phone experience and touring the community.

Sad
I have been a very long time resident at Fountain. I have seen many managers come and go. I have taken a peek at this site, only because the new folks in the office asked me to write something about Fountain. So here goes, As I was reading through all of these postings, I was beyond shocked. How can any of these "so called" residents be happy with themselves on how they are acting on a PUBLIC website? I was very impressed with the work ethic of the most recent past manager. She worked VERY hard to help improve our community. She was always asking our opinions, and trying to update the property as best as she could. I noticed that everytime she had a great idea, it seemed the corporate either dragged thier feet, or shot down the idea. She ALWAYS welcomed us into the office with a warm smile, and listened to any concerns, and took care of the issue as best as she could. I know that for a long period of time, she was the ONLY person in the office...I couldnt imagine trying to run the whole place by herself, with only a small maintenance crew to assiste her. And from what I could see, she and the maintenance crew did a FANTASTIC job!! Shame on all of you for picking on her and ridiculing her for working her tail off! And shame on the "new staff" for bad mouthing her...you shouldnt judge people, have you walked in that persons shoes? Do you know how difficult her job really was? I doubt you do...so next time, use better judgement! My apartment is lovley! Its quiet here, and my neigbors are great! THey have done quite a bit of updating and its looking quite nice here. I dont have many issues, so I dont have much to complain about. I just needed to voice my thoughts, that the last manager was great...and we miss her dearly, she really cared about us and how we felt. She worked her tail off and we all saw it! She didnt just hide in her office, she was out on the property taking care of everything she could!

Seems fine to me
I have lived at fountain for about 3 months. So far I haven't had any real issues. Aside from needing little fixes in my apartment, everything else is good. It's not as big as some places but I like that it's small and quiet around here.

Love the adult swim time!
We've been asking for MONTHS to have adult swim time and the new staff FINALLY put that into place! Thank you so much for finally listening to a suggestion we have! Other than that, my apartment is great and I really like my vanity in my bathroom. It's nice to get ready there while my husband uses the other part of the bathroom area to get ready. Only suggestion is to maybe get another cart or some sort of entertainment for the laundry while we fold our clothes.

Just moved in
I just moved in to fountain lake. I read some of the reviews before I decided between this place and Canterbury. I'm sure all apartments aren't perfect but this places seemed more low key and not so strict. I haven't had any issues yet.

Things are really starting to look up around here. The new staff is really nice. The only suggestion that I really have is to maybe put a tv in the laundry room.

finally a place that is quiet
I recently moved in and i finally fuond an apartment that is quiet. the road over here doesnt get too busy with traffic, so it's nice that there aren't cars going back and forth. The neighbors around here are really respectful and actually care about being quiet. I really like having the pond outside my patio so I can fish and I like the new pool rules that are set for adult swim time.

Getting Better
I have been a resident of Fountain Lake for about 6 months. When I first moved in I had some problems, but there is a new staff that I feel is really taking care of my needs. They are on top of any maintenance problems and really friendly to work with. I love my apartment and the upgrades!

Nice Staff
I have lived at Fountain for a few years now. The new staff is really nice and I've had no problems with them. You are good people. The only thing I suggest is to maybe get a second cart for the laundry rooms.

We moved into Fountain Lake fall of 2007. I like it here and will probably renew my lease. Good maintenance crew. Walks and lots kept clear in winter. lovely pond view. I enjoy watching the ducks, geese, squirrels and hummingbirds and all of nature. Nice swimming pool and have had no major issues. It is pet friendly. I have met some nice friends over the years I've lived here. Have recommended Fountain lake to my friends. I understand it is under new ownership and will be happy when they hire a manager and hope they stay on. I'm hanging on.

Should I stay or should I go now?
I have lived at Fountain Lake going on 10 years now. I liked it better when it was owned by Aimco. Since new owners I have seen several new managers. no flowers at pool or entry ways except leasing office.(used to have beautiful flowers) Hallways and laundry rooms not as well kept. We have yet to get a manager to stay. they removed the shutters ( which made it homey) Began painting balcony railings and stopped. Place is going down hill!!! May not sign a new lease if improvements aren't made. Maintenance is good. Wish the new owners would find a good manager and put money into improving the place. We have a muskrat in pond!! Water is filthy and people have grills(not allowed) lol! Management has no idea whats going on! We have a lot of vacant apartments. Wonder why so many have moved out.. poor management, deteriorating buildings!! On the upside I did appreciate the fact that the basements were finally given some fresh paint.Time will tell but owners need to get a manager and do some improvements or there will be another vacant apartment!!!

Great Apartments
I moved into Fountain Lake about a year ago now. Raychal moved me into a building that had a LOT of noise and problems. I wasn't sure if I was going to renew my lease because of all the problem people in my building. Since Raychal is gone, the new office staff has taken over they have gotten rid of a lot of those people so I'm going to stay a while longer because I love my apartment.

Fake positive reviews
Anyone notice the positive reviews have the same writing style? Doesn't matter what the staff says once you move here you'll see for yourself that its a bad place to live.

Fountain Lake Apartments
I moved in to the Fountain Lake Apartments in June of 2009. I fell in love with it immediately. I love my apartment that overlooks the pond with fountains. It's very peaceful in the summer time. I will say I've seen a lot of change in management and office staff. My maintenence issues were not being addressed and I could never get answers from the office staff. I just found out that Raychal no longer works in the office and I AM SO GLAD. The new girl has been very nice and my maintenance issues that have been neglected are finally fixed! I'm about to finish school and I hope to stay at Fountain Lake for a while. I have recommended this place to my friends and would recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment.

Nice Community w/ Nice People
I have lived at Fountain Lake for a few years and have been quite pleased. I chose this apartment complex because it is pet friendly and seemed quiet, yet convenient for my work. The grounds are well maintained and the facility has a nice pool. When we have had maintenance issues they have been resolved in a timely fashion and the office staff is friendly and helpful. There are a lot of young professionals and retired people so generally noise is not a big issue but the management is also responsive to those issues if they occur as well. Overall I would recommend this facility.

Great Location, Great Apartments
A friend and I have lived at Fountain Lake for almost a year. We wanted to renew but have both taken jobs out of the area. Maintenance always comes the same day or next day and the office staff has done great answering our questions. We really enjoyed our stay at Fountain Lake and would recommend it to anybody new in the area or looking for something quiet.

Infestation Problem
I haves lived in Fountain Lake Apartments for about 3 1/2 years now and I have never seen staff that do not care about the apartment complex. The staff is changing so much that I just care not to learn names anymore because they all leave. The washer and dryer has gone up, I use to wash four loads of clothes and dry them for $10, now I have to get two rolls of quarters, but the office never has them because they don't go get them, so don't advertise that we have quarters in the office when you don't. FALSE ADVERTISING! Now to the point, we have been having a really bad infestation problem and no one is doing anything about it.the office staff knows of the infestation but has not informed the tenants of their knowledge and is just leading the tenants on. There has been no word on when there is going to be people out spraying or where the source has came from. I am very displeased with this situation. The office staff sends all these notices out about refer a friend and get so much off of rent but not one time mention the infestation problem. The problem has got ridiculous. I am through with FOUNTAIN LAKE APARTMENTS!

Fountain Lakes
I have lived at Fountain Lakes Apartments for the better part of a year now. I have lived at other apartment complexes in two other small cities. I'm moving out soon, but because of work, not the apartment complex. When I moved in, wanted a complex a little off the main roads, but still could get to anything in the north part of Fort Wayne easily. I didn't want to be house poor paying rent every month. I wanted something close to IPFW, and its about 2 miles away. The prices were a little less/comparable than some of the other complexes in the area (Canterbury, The Grove, Stone Pointe). I previously lived right off campus in an apartment, and even though there is an occasional noise here and there, its a lot quieter here than some of the alternatives from personal experience. It is what it is. No. The place is NOT perfect, but, I'm getting exactly the what i expected. Management staff has worked with me on a couple issues i have had with rent/bills. I feel safer here than the other apartments I have lived in. Rent is affordable and I do see the maintenance people out keeping the place up a lot. I am happy with my lease here, and upon moving out, would recommend the place to people looking for the same thing I was when i moved in. Good close, but not cramped locale, affordable, decent staff. The utility bills are cheaper than my last apt.

Reviews! Hmm....Where to start!
Where to start with Fountain Lake apartments? Well lets see, first the office staff is always changing! They can not keep the leasing person in the office more than 6 months, it was Amy,Joe,Amanda and some new chick. Sylvia was the best thing that had happened to that apartment complex, she was kind, caring and knew our names. She did not sit in the office and hang out with her bofriend while we had a major issue in our building. I lived in building C, We had problems with our windows for the longest time. Everytime it would rain they would have to send someone out to fix someone in the windows, fyi people it never got fixed! Sylvia was always the one who I called then one day I called and she was gone, that is when I knew I was going to leave! And I am glad I did! The maintenance staff was good. I did not like the bald guy with the goofy eye, he made me feel very uncomfortable and he lied, but when Robert and Darren both worked there, things were done right, never had to worry about the pool being closed down. If the owner of the property would take a step back and realize that they screwed up with hiring rachael, then thing would be better and maybe people would stay? DO NOT RENT FROM FOUNTAIN LAKE! GO SOMEWHERE WITH CARING PEOPLE! TRUST ME, i got out and if you notice someone is writting good reviews right after the bad ones come out, I think that is kinda odd!
