The quality of the complex has degraded with the change in management. I would not recommend this community and plan to move at the end of my lease. The road noise is very pronounced inside and the building is in desperate need of upgrades.

I am totally satisfied with my living experience here. It has very low noise levels, well maintained grounds, convenient access to stores, restaurants, and entertainment. Both the office and maintenance staffs are responsive and professional.

My stay at Governor's Green has been pretty enjoyable at this time. Most of my requests have been extremely satisfied. I only had one instance where I was disappointed, but that issue was corrected and I am satisfied with the solution. I recommend Governor's Green to anyone looking for a quality place to live.

Convenient, affordable and accessable location. Located right off the highway with quick access to route 50 and route 3. Access to a variety of shops and a choice of schools to choose from for your kids. Lots of stairs but overall not too bad.

Love this community. Just having some issues that need to be resolved ASAP. I would definitely recommend this community to someone who was looking to move. The location is perfect. It is extremely convenient and accessible to major roads and highways.

My experience since Bainbridge has taken over has been abysmal. I have never had more issues with any residence I have ever lived in. I routinely have service issues, like AC being out for more than 12 days in 2 months, three different occasions without water and a slew of other issues. I understand routine maintenance but this seems excessive. Additionally, service matters are not promptly addressed and phone calls concerning these or any other matter having to do with being a resident here are never answered nor are voicemails returned.

Lovely, calm and nice neighborhood. Thus is my first apartment rental and by far has been great. I has all you need, BBQ area, self service car wash area, pool, gym and pet area. Important fact, there is always parking for you. The apartment is spacious for it being a one bedroom unit.

Community is very nice just the staff is very new and maybe needed more training. Everything eventually worked out. Hopefully things will be smooth sailing from here to end of lease. Very well kept grounds as well. Most people are very friendly.

I was very disappointed to find out that the person I first contacted was let go less than a week after I moved in because she was extremely helpful to us. We had several issues with the flame being blown out on the hot water heater and lost heat and hot water. Carpet was supposed to be replace but they tried to clean it professionally and did not get the stain up anyway. Several other minor problems were on list to be taken care of and some are still not being addressed.

The community fosters an excellent environment that is conducive to adequate living conditions. I would gladly recommend this facility to other individuals in the Maryland,Virginia, DC areas to include out of state people who are relocating.

I would not recommend this Apartment Complex (nor any equity residential apartments) to my worse enemy. We lived in the Governor's Green apartment for 2 years due to location and convenience. However, from day one service was not good. Upon signing our lease, we agreed to an apartment on ground level. On move in day, we were given keys to a basement apartment. Okay, well, we were already in the process of moving so we did not make a big deal of it. But then the entire first week we did not have hot running water, ended up traveling back home to our original place to take showers etc. The problem was not the water company, not a payment issue- after one week they finally figured out, after bringing in several different maintenance people- that they had the tubes/pipes switched around? And that set the tone for our entire 2 years, from getting a rental car towed away because we had an emergency after 6pm and couldn't get a temp parking permit, to the lack of maintenance response- needed to make it to 3 to meet our goals to finish schooling etc. The kicker is that we gave 56 days notice to vacate because I was sick, versus the 60 days notice, and were charged an additional fee of about $260 for lack of sufficient notice. But now we are happily in our house and original location- never again would I return to this place! One of the maintenance men even told us to report any of the people we see smoking weed? For any of the troubles we went through, we were not compensated in any way shape or form. So do not believe them when they make it sound easy- if it's too good to be true, it is! Save yourself the trouble as there are plenty of choices in that area of Bowie.

Governor's Green is too expensive and overrated! The staff is forgetful and a bit lazy. Fees: Water, sewer, etc. are billed by Equity (the management company) and increase dramatically without warning or reason. The property is conveniently located but the staff seems not to notice when lights are out and the maintenance crew is subpar. You are lured in with specials but expect to see a $200-300 increase if you intend to renew your lease. For the amount of money you would spend living at Governor's Green I would suggest looking at one of the newer properties in Bowie or the surrounding area.

When I lived there the only problems I enountered was the fire alarm kept dumping all the people out of my unit at 2 a.m. in the morning. luckily I still had a single family house to go back to. And also being chased across the parking lot by peoples un-leashed dogs. Trust me, rent a house or a townhouse on trulia for the same price. you will come out better. Next house I get. I want to make sure that I am directly on the main highway where every one driving by can see what's going on. I did see some of the crime potentials creeping in by those degenerates born to one night stand baby mamas who tell their rats (kids) get out there and survive on your own and do what you have to do. Say! I wonder if they are going to follow me and move in when I go to a gated community in Florida.

When you are looking for apartments with garage amenities in the Bowie area you have slim pickings. But I will say that the "value" of this Governor's Green is hidden with utility/amenity fees and I was lured in by the low rent. But please read full review. My lease for a 1 bedroom in 2013 was $1,275/mo. Then received notification that it was going up exactly 5% the next year. After I reasoned with the staff, the reduced it to only a 2% increase. Now, the interesting part is that after the rent, comes the garage fee $150/mo, then water/sewer fees (avg. $28) and the Electric (avg. $50/mo) and the Gas (avg. $60/mo) and the cable (Comcast avg. $73)... my $1,275/mo apartment averages me $1,600/mo... and that is not a value. But if you don't need a garage then it would certainly be cheaper around $1,450. You can only pay your water/sewer fees through the Equity Residential website and they charge a processing fee in addition to the normal charges that you can't get around. I'm concerned about the insulation of the apartments from a financial perspective, not a noise perspective. When I would go away for a week and turn all of my utilities down I would still be hit with an bill that didn't make sense with my usage. Great having washer/dryer units inside apartment. But outside patio area is a little small and you can't use the closet off the patio because that is where the hot water heater is. My pilot light on the hot water heater went out twice this past winter, but was fixed within 36 hours of me reporting it. Smaller repairs needed were fixed within 24 hours usually. Theories about ground floor apartments being cheaper because of security risks are a myth, they cost more because of convenience, and third floor apartments are more expensive because of higher ceilings. So to save get the middle floor here. The grounds are maintained very well and all residents I meet are very friendly and help each other out. The staff is very friendly and the maintenance is completed in my apartment very quickly. The pool and workout facilities are nice. Would like to see a basketball goal but only has a decently maintained volleyball court. Lease renewal is 60 days prior to your last day, so you really are signing a 10 month lease up front before you have to make up your mind if you're staying for another year. This apartment complex has a great location which is why I chose it. Right off of 3/301 and 50. And everything you could possibly need is around it. I'm 15 mins tops from Annapolis and 10 minute drive to the furthest Metro stop that is a 30 min train into DC. I must warn you... having Carraba's in the parking lot makes the whole complex smell like your Italian grandmother's cooking spaghetti and meatballs right outside your door all the time. Also in the backyard is the Bowie Baysox stadium. Overall, it is a great complex, with a lot of conveniences to pay for, but make sure you get an average cost report of electric/gas/water/sewer before you move in. It can be a huge game changer in comparison to other complexes nearby when looking at total cost.

My move in experience was great. The staff was very helpful in assuring that all aspects of my long distance move went smoothly. I love the ease of communicating with the staff via the community website. The fitness center and pool are properly maintained. My requests for repairs are completed in a timely manner.

This place is terrible and there is a true reason why the ratings on the site reflect what they do - not because people just feel like complaining for the heck of it. These apartments are way overpriced for what you get. I see that the office manager mentioned that their prices are based off of the market value - not sure how the value continues to go up on this place when the kitchen, lights, wash machines, etc. are from the late 90s. You could probably get more updated appliances in the ------ than what this place offers. So office manager, if you respond to this message, please answer why at least the kitchens can't get updated? White is the WORST color you could use in a kitchen as it is very hard to keep clean. Also, please answer why good quality windows aren't in the apartments? The windows are so cheap and do not provide any insulation and half the time they wouldn't lock properly and maintenance couldn't fix it - not their fault because the windows are cheap and I suffered by having higher utility bills. When you first move in, they will lure you in with a great rate but as soon as it is time to renew, your rent will go up $200 . Yes, they will negotiate a different price but don't expect them to take more than $40 off of what they're offering you. If you're going to pay the high rent that they're asking for, you might as well go down the street and look around at other places that are within 5-10 minutes of Governor's Green and get what you're paying for. The office staff changes like the weather. At least the new people answer the phone but don't expect them to call you back if they're supposed to follow-up on something. When you move out, I CAN NOT STRESS HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO SAVE YOUR PAPERWORK. These people will flat out lie about anything to keep your deposit and will even go as far as lying about when you turn your keys in so they can charge you the expensive month to month rent rate. I will say that the maintenance staff is helpful. Don't expect your fireplace to work because it is very cheap - not maintenance's fault.

I previously wrote a positive review of this place, but have since had a change of heart. There are a few people who work here who are professional and nice, but they can't make up for the fact that my move-out process was very similar to torture. These apartments are not worth more than $1000 a month since they do not come with extra storage, microwaves, Metro access, community events, a good fitness center, or excellent customer service. The new front desk chicks have attitude problems - I miss Sherman and -------. And I am still getting my statement corrected after moving out a week ago. I paid to have the carpet professionally cleaned, which is bs in and of itself, and a charge for carpet replacement still showed up. There's just too much drama and stress here. Unless you have a larger family and can't afford a house yet (the 2 bedrooms look pretty nice and it's close to the Baysox stadium and shopping), there is no reason to move here. AND the trash compactor/trash can situation started to get bad again before I left. I was wrong, and the rest of the negative reviewers were right.

Avoid this trap! They lure you in with great rental prices and then after one year they jack it up considerably. The trash compactors stay cluttered with mountains of garbage. The people that they have allowed to move in in the past two years were very suspicious. there were men smoking marijuana intthe grill area next to the pool at 6:00pm on a Thursday night - there were kids in the pool. Real Classy. The apartments need upgrades. the heater/ac unit constantly needed repairs and the fireplace never worked for more than a month. No picks up after their pets. Cars ar always getting broken into in the lot

The apartments are nice. We had the high ceilings which was very beautiful! The fireplace made it even better. Now the walls are very very thin! I could hear people walk up the stairs and down the stairs! You are able to hear people talk from downstairs with no problem and I was on the third floor! I mean the apartments are pricey, and for the money that we paid I think you could and should get something better....The kitchen appliances are not the newest but they work. The dishwasher in our apartment didn't really clean the dishes well. As far as the trash goes...ALWAYS overflowing! Its an eye sore!! When we had the chance to renew our lease they wanted us to pay around $200 more!! Maintenance addressed issues in a timely manner. The insulation is not the best. In the summer time our electric bill was horrifying! I was afraid to turn on my A/C!! I'm Not saying this was the worse place I've lived but I'm happy we left!

I will not recommend this place not even to my worse enemy. I lived here for 2 yrs. got in with a really good deals, not knowing what I was getting myself into....the following year they jacked uppp the rent by almost 200$..with some BS excuses.....I hate moving so I negotiated the renewal rate and still the rent was increased by 100$ for the 2nd year...this yr they tried to increase rent again by another 100$ ....that's just crazy...understand that the cost of living goes up every year but common....no upgrade nothing new is done to the apts and they wanna increase the rent by 100 to 200 every yr....ridiculous...they let the trash pile up for dayssssssss.....very dirty environment.....I moved out...and now they're claiming that we damaged some stuff in the apt...which is a lie and an excuse to keep the security deposit...lets see what's going to happen ..I am ready to go to court on this issue...bunch of thieves....Stay away from this place !!!!!!!!!

I agree with the previous person RUN RUN FAR AWAY AND DO NOT LOOK BACK. You will pay for an over price apt and constant noise. The apartment below mine constantly banged balls and played drums beneath my apartment. You can hear every single sound. I have even gone to the apartment myself to beg them to stop making the constant thumping noise. My apartment often feels like it is the earthquake fault line (it shakes rattles and rolls all day long). Being on the top floor, I thought that was and advantage to be free in clear of noise, but everything that runs up the steps causes a vibration in my apartment. It is horrible to hear this noise all night long and even scary when the door slam is so forceful you are jolted from your sleep or better yet everything in the closet on a shelf comes tumbling down. And get this be prepared and I mean be prepared to pay the highest rent increases ever. I was there two years and each time it was $250. For a crappy apartment with no upgrades and no upscale management. It was horrible. My building even had a cat hoarder and every day walking up to the building smelt like a swamp of urine. Yes I complained we all complained nothing was done for nearly a year and the bldg still smells like piss. I am so happy to be away from this dump. I rather live in District Heights at least I know what I am in for. Oh and before I forget, my apt even had a sink hole in the living room. Just one more thing, the drunken teenagers like to smoke weed in the courtyard.

This place is some crap. Trash dump is always broke, maintenance needs more training, neighbors that have been coming lately are questionable, leasing off is stuck up and never available, and roaches are starting to appear. These apartments are far from luxury and cost too much!

I have being living here at Governors Green a year know and so far I haven't experience any problems other than maintenance being a little slow on the repairs. I really enjoy living here and I have notice on occasions that the trash overflows quite often at the dumpster. Although I haven't encountered any problems but you often see younger males hanging out and around the pool area in the evenings but they don't seem to bother anyone.
