Our apartment started off as a great value for the size and location. However, we had a big rent increase when we renewed our lease last year, and would experience another rent increase if we renewed again. We also had to start paying for electricity. Maintenance is super responsive, but there are way too many ongoing repairs/changes in the building and I find it frustrating.

Has been a lovely experience overall. The apartment is expensive but you get what you pay for. Great amenities, awesome Lifestyles Program, newly renovated building, responsive staff. All my issues and concerns were addressed professionally and adequately. I really can't ask for more.

the convenience store nearby are a huge pros of blair apartments. Also the huge space, the metri station just at a walking distance and last but not least the safety provided by blair apartments made my experience here a very good and easy one.

...I do like my apartment...however, It is a serious concern to see the Blair management is slowly pricing out significant number of renters out of the Blair's...the rate of rental increase at an increasing rate is getting to be out of control...as a monthly employee, It has become very difficult to much the increased rate with that of cost of living adjustments in this difficult economic situations of the nation...it is time to think of the members of your renters challenges and needs...

Its clean and conveniently located, yet nothing special for the cost. I can live in a brand new building with washer and dryer in the apartment for the same price. Lots of questionable neighbors, it doesnt seem like the apartment community is that selective in screening.

I enjoyed it, however, the rent prices are way too high. I do not appreciate the high price of parking, especially when I have experienced other individuals parking in my spot, repeatedly. I wish rent would be reduced since there is no pool anymore.

theBlairs is a decent community to call home. It is located within a five minute walk from Metro Red Line/Silver Spring Bus Hub, a Giants Supermarket, CVS/Rite Aide, and Starbucks/Peets Coffee, along with a variety of restaurants and services. Maintenance requests are handled quickly and professionally. Management is very difficult to deal with and their proclaimed Lifestyles program is improving. The campus is dealing with active construction of a new tower, but so far few headaches that I have experienced. The community is clean and safe and most residents are respectable. The concierge desk is always helpful and staffed. theBlairs have increased rent every year and they abruptly changed their pet policy against the dismay of many residents, including myself. theBlairs also started implementing a $5 charge for visitor parking spot, and they seem to charge for other services like bike storage. Concerns that are brought to management are not handled well and I feel they do not listen or care.

While the Blairs has tried to upgrade their apartment complex to more modern style, the rent is still too high for the value. One glaring issue is the 40 year old windows which provide absolutely no insulation against the weather. Everyone in the business office is incompetent. That said, it is in a good location and the concierge staff are wonderful.

Great place to live. Only negative has been that laundry facilities and outdoor area (grills, fire, outdoor TVs, etc.) are often broken, and at times, for long periods. Also, pool has been closed since move-in, with no identifiable date of when it will re-open. Great place to live. Never any pest issues. Very safe and welcoming environment.

Overall, a positive experience! Very pricey and now that the pool has been closed for the summer, not entirely sure it is worth all the extra fees for amenities. Spacious lay out, though, and my experiences have generally been positive. If rent was lower, I would stay even after my roommate moves out!

I have lived in Blair East five months. These past two weeks I was on travel to Palestine, Israel and Jordan. New friends and neighbors up and down my hall wished me well with greetings, cards, and receiving some of my refrigerator left overs and upon my return are greeting me and interested in my stories. I was surprised to walk home from the last leg of my journey in snow. And this Saturday morning we had an early fire alarm evacuation. I have discovered that this affords a good time to make new friends, believe it or not. No one is going anywhere as we are in bathrobes or thrown on clothes. I shared my trip with my new friend on yet another floor and I am sure we will connect again. And much to our delight there was a young woman firefighter in the mix. We greeted her and she smiled. So you see-- fire alarms while annoying and, I'm sure expensive, afford people the time to talk with each other. Again it's the people who work here who help create the glue for the community--the folk at the front desk, morning, noon and night. The postman. And, of course, the work crew and the activities coordinator, and the rest of the staff. I have friends outside of The Blairs as I owned a home in Takoma Park for thirty one years. Then I moved away for seven years. I haven't lived here through warm weather and I look forward to spring and sun. I spied a new bench on the walkway today adjacent to the Whispers" area. That looked promising. Yesterday I experienced a neat scene. I entered the elevator on the eighth floor filled with a gaggle of grade school kids, not wearing coats and going down to the lobby. I asked what they were off to and they excitedly said "the computer room". How cool is that. I have not lived in an apartment before, but I do believe The Blairs must be exceptional. I was here once in the 90s, however. I was teaching ESOL at Blair High School and was invited to the birthday party of one of my students from Africa. I was impressed with Blair East then and I am now. Great to be here. The friends who have visited me here have been pleasantly impressed, as well. Giant, CVS, AFI, Metro, Whole Foods. Great neighbors! Noticed Caribou Coffee is gone. Sorry, as the two regular guys who worked there had the greatest smiles. Petes is good, too. I have a suggestion that we might have an open night to meet with the planner of events to brain storm and generate new ideas for evening or weekend events. A presentation by a resident of a far flung adventure or journey or important presentation they may have given. An evening of jazz or classical music. A vocal artist. (I know one on the eighth floor.) I think I have reached 200 characters! Signing off.

This place is very good, and I see they are working very hard to improve the life experience here. I like those weekly activities, it can make us feel more close to our neighbors and less lonely. But I do think leasing office can do a better job by giving out consistent and accurate information.

I have had an amazing experience living in the Blairs Community. It is convenient, accommodating and very pleasant place to live in. The staff are very helpful, the activities are fun and the stores and restaurants near by are great. It is definitely a great area to live in.

Over all it's a great community. Perfect location. Friendly staff. Decent amenities. But upgrades to our apartment do not keep pace with increases in rent. After over five years of residence, our only serious complaint remains on our initial move in. After signing a lease and moving from Ohio, we arrived to find that our apartment was not ready to move into. We were not offered temporary housing which kind of blew chunks.

We've always had great experiences with the building staff and have found it a great place to live. It's terrific to have access to 24-hour front desk concierge, and recent renovations in common areas (grills! computer room! gym!) have made it yet more pleasant. Lifestyles program has greatly expanded the programs provided to residents as well, and I appreciate that (even if I don't always participate). Our unit was newly renovated when we moved in about five years ago, and it is starting to show wear (as well as some small squeaky friends visiting). It does seem that there isn't much effort to help long-term residents upgrade or to stay. It seems that management would be just as happy for things to break down and have us move out, rather than to keep us. That way they can renovate anew and charge someone else even more to live in our choice unit.

Overall a positive experience. Apartment newly refinished with new carpets. Friendly staff; prompt response; quiet and well maintained building. Very convenient. Main dissatisfaction is from pest issue that was noted upon move in and intermittently over the past year.

We have loved our time living at the Blairs Towns. Our apartment is lovely, and we rarely have any concerns or problems. If a maintenance issue does arise, it is always handled quickly, professionally, and well. Recently our hot water heater went out, and despite it being nearly midnight when we discovered the problem, it was taken care of immediately.

I have enjoyed living here with all the amenities and the places available in the area at my fingertips. The ability to walk to Metro as well as downtown Silver Spring have been added bonuses for me and have made life most convenient.

We like the convenience to the metro and the fact that the school bus stops right in front. We liked the pool, so we are sad it will be gone this summer. We liked the book club, until lately the picks have been extremely long. The gym is great, too!
