Weston Lakeside Rocks!
I have a wife and a three year old and we LOVE living at Weston Lakeside. The grounds are safe, clean and there is always something to do. Lake Crabtree is awesome and the property is so convenient to HWY 40. The units are modern and open. Our guests are blown away on how charming and inviting Weston Lakeside is. The staff is professional and will attend to any of your needs or concerns. We feel 100% safe here and wish that we would have moved in years ago! Keep up the great work Weston Lakeside and congrats on your five star property!

So Much To Offer...
From the word go, or "Stay!" as is the case here- I have been very pleased with Weston Lakeside. I am a serial renter- I move so much in my career, buying a house just hasn't been on my to do list. As a result, I expect a great deal out of the apartments I chose as they are home more so than temporary housing. I read each review regarding Weston Lakeside and kept them in mind as I visited. Nearly five months have passed and I feel awful that it has taken me this long to get this posted. The apartments are beautiful and unique. The interior paint color seems to be a touch different than other apartments I've lived in- I like that, it feels more like a house. It really pops against the white door frames, etc. The wall sconces, light fixtures, crown molding, framed bathroom mirror and pretty faucets also add to the upscale home feel. I lived at a complex in Charlotte, NC for a couple of years and had a big bath tub but I'd swear this one is bigger. I have a nice balcony overlooking the lake where I am sometimes lucky enough to see deer early in the morning. I see the sunset from my living room, kitchen and dining room every day- that is a real treat. (Check out the picture from my crappy camera phone- it is all I had at the time.) For the past month or so, there has been an assortment of colorful sailboats on the lake. I could continue to rave about the apartment features but I want to make sure I cover everything. The hallways and elevators are clean. There are a lot of dogs here but that isn't a negative to me. They are extremely well behaved- none of them have jumped up on me or tried to lick me- they listen to their owners. If you want to engage with the dogs, I haven't met one that hasn't been friendly. This is an active community with the trails of Lake Crabtree right behind the complex- I would have a dog too if I wasn't allergic to everything with fur. There are no hassles to get my mountain bike to the trail- you don't have to ride on the road or put it on your car just to ride. Before I moved in I had a few requests, one being a major one and even though the staff could have easily blown me off and rented the apartment to someone else- they worked with me every step of the way. That says a lot about the caliber of people that work here. They care and they show it. My leasing consultant was Steve and he was very down to earth and a pleasure to work with. Trip, the property manager, called me back within 24 hours to let me know they could fulfill my requests. In fact, I have to give kudos to all the staff- everyone has been warm and welcoming. I read another review where another renter complained to Trip about some maintenance problems. That isn't fair- he can't be expected to remember everything people say to him while he's out on the property. That is what the computerized service request system is for. I have had only one maintenance request since I moved in and it was an emergency. I had water on my bathroom floor and I couldn t tell where it was coming from. I called the after-hours emergency number- it was around 10pm. Allen came out-he had a badge and a jacket that identified him as an employee of the complex. After I called the number- I worried about that a little being a single chick. Allen was very professional and fixed my problem quickly. As I mentioned the complex is directly connected to a park, and well-maintained sidewalks on the main road- it is the perfect place. All in all, I could not have asked for more in a complex. Spring and winter have been beautiful here- snow on the trails was just fantastic and I m looking forward to it this year. They just renovated the landscaping outside of my building and it is the prettiest of any complex I have ever lived in. I've never felt unsafe here. There is no through way street so I think that adds to the safety factor and there is no traffic noise. My parents visited during Easter weekend and my dad, who never comments about anything, said that my neighbors were the friendliest group of people of any of the 19 or so complexes I have lived at. That speaks volumes to me. In the world today, people only hear about the negative, so I strive to let people know when I'm happy and I am.

Sewage Smell, Thin Walls (Noise), Rude Staff, Too Expensive
I have been living in this complex for over a year now and I am fed up with the smell. The entire place smells like sewage. Not only do they have plumbing issues, there is also a sewage treatment facility that smells like ---- at night less than a mile away. The staff will not tell you the truth about the noise. The floors are thin and you can hear everything above and beside you. We had tenants above us that liked to walk around at 3-4am and it sounded like a herd of elephants. Also, if you like to hear sex, this might be your place. Some nights I feel like I live on a porno set due to all of the moaning and banging you hear through the walls. If you are thinking about renting here and you take a tour, have them take you to one of the buildings besides the one where the office is and ask them if you can have someone go in the apartment above and walk around where you can hear the noise. You will be amazed at how loud it is. Actually, I would imagine that they will not let you do this because they are more interested in renting to than retaining residents. Also, the manager will not meet with you if you have a problem. They do this because the assistants (pawns) have no power to actually take care of situations. There are many more issues and I am sure that you will read about them so I will leave it with my two major issues. 1. Sewage Smell 2. Thin Walls (Noise) Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.

Nice place to live
I have lived her for a year and I have a few complaints as well as a few good things to say. I'll start with the bad. Noise level is horrible. I lived in the 3rd floor and I could hear my upstairs neighbor use the toilet, his phone conversations, and other personal noises. He is quite but I could still hear. He said he heard every one of my 4 year olds tantrums and rumbling. Then I moved to the 4ths floor. Downstairs neighbors complain all the time. I can hear them as well, vacuum and running, banging doors, makes the building shake. I hear my side neighbors as well, you can hear their TV in the bedrooms and the kids crying all the time. Another complaint is their business center. I moved here depending on those services and they are worthless. It is an EVERYDAY PROBLEM, whether it be that the WIFI is not working, the fax is not working, there is never any paper, and the printer....geeze the printer....NEVER works...there has been a daily problem with these amenities. It has been very frustrating. Another problem has been with maintenance. If you make your maintenance complaint to the manager (Trip) it wont get done. He is extremely nice, but three separate occasions I requested maintenance and it was never done. Tell the assistant manager if you want it done. Maintenance staff is super nice and are always waving. Let see I think my last complaint is they don't clean out the webs in the hallways and breezeways as they claim. They say they do it every week...not true, spider season, I was afraid to go out to the elevators at night when all the crazy big spiders came out. It took them 3 weeks to clean out the webs in breezeway when I complained. I saw who did it...the problem is he is too short to reach all spots...he needs a ladder! Oh one more...summertime. The pool was great to use, barely anyone goes and it is quiet and relaxing, but many times dirty. The grills where a problem last summer. They kept breaking and they would not replace them, they would just move them around. It was annoying when everyone is trying to grill. Other than that the staff is very nice and are always kind and accommodating. The grounds look nice. The people in general are quiet and nice. Parking is good. It is a very safe place to live. I have never seen a single bug, ant, or roach inside or outside my apartment. The amenities are not abused by the tenants, so when you want to use them they are available (except bring your own pool stick, the tips are always broken). The apartments are beautiful, I have enjoyed living here and would renew my lease but I cant afford it anymore.

A beautiful place to live
I have lived here for seven months and absolutely love it here. Its quiet, clean and well-maintained. The views are incredible. I moved here from a "luxury" apartment in North Hills. While their finishes might be more expensive, this is a much better place to live. The elevator has not been out of service since I moved here - unlike that other place!

Great place for the price but are not as quiet as expected
I have lived here for almost a year and have been very pleased with the staff, except the newest assistant manager (older woman with glasses) who replaced Julie. There have been times when I have had to wait about 15 minutes to pick up a package or check out a movie because she was too busy trying to make a sale. Helping current residents was never a priority of hers, but it should be if you want recommendations. I'm thinking though that people have complained as she was much more attentive and friendly the last time I went in there. The place overall is wonderful. The amenities are awesome and I love having the walking trails nearby. The only other complaint I have had is hearing the people above me constantly stomping around and dropping what sounds like bowling balls off the kitchen counter. I know that it is not feasible to expect a noise free apartment living environment, however I can literally hear these people walk from one end of the apartment to the other. I can even hear drawers being openend and closed. I was told when I moved in here that the floors are divided by a layer of concrete, but this doesn't seem to make a difference. I've also gone to bed an night and can hear the television in the room next to mine. Again, I don't expect to never hear noise living in an apartment, but noise was a concern of mine and I expected to hear much less based on the information I mentioned above. Having listed my cons, I would still recommend this place to people and hope you have more considerate neighbors. My lease is about to run out and I am definitely going to renew here however I'm going to move to another unit in hopes that I won't have the same noise issues as I do now.

Great Place to live!
If you're looking for a place in Cary, make sure you check this place out. The staff is simply amazing, the apartments are unique and beautiful, and the setting is great. The complex is attached to miles of hiking and biking trails around a great lake. This is truly a great place to live, and the staff are the best I've ever dealt with.

Luxurious and comfortable
I lived in this complex for about 6 months and many of my friends did too. I would highly recommend this complex for its luxury, comfort and services. The complex is huge, has a new feel and overlooks the lake. Lots of parking available. The office staff are very friendly and quick in answering to complaints or repairs. The apartments look brand new with granite countertops and many cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom for storage. If I were to ever return to Cary, I would love to stay in the same complex.

Very "home-like"
My girlfriend and I moved from San Diego to these apartments, we researched for about 2 months before we made a trip out to NC to visit approximatly 10 different places. This was the first one we came to and we liked it, we continued to check into all of the others and were finally in love with this one (we were well aware that your not supposed to take the first one you look at). After we made a second trip to the 2 top apartments this was just perfect. We went back to SD and we called several times to make sure things were fixed from our initial visit before we got here (we were nervous about the move). When we arrived in December to move in everything was emaculate. This place is so comfortable, quite, and loveable. The maintenance guy is great, within 2-5 hours things are dealt with. The staff is great, we have bearly ever heard our neighbors except for the guy that likes to play basketball in his kitchen (rude), but those are the things you have to expect in apartment living. The parking is fantastic, so many open spots still. I would tell anyone that moves to this area that this is the place to be. WE LOVE IT! Anyone that has bad mouthed this place must have screwed things up themselves cause this place cant be beat unless we buy our own brand new house!

Friendly comfort by the lake
The location is great (right on Lake Crabtree with a greenway trail that connects to Umstead state park) and the apartments are very nice, with interesting architectural detail. To top it off, though, is a helpful, friendly, just plane nice staff. I hope you like this place. I certainly did!

Gorgeous Weston Lakeside Property
My family and I moved from a comfortable, large house on the West Coast to a luxurious top floor apartment at Weston Lakeside. Our apartment overlooked the 538 acre Crabtree Lake, and there was never a day that we didn't feel incredibly fortunate to have found such a lovely place. The apartment complex is very upscale, and our apartment featured granite countertops, extra high counters in the bathrooms with large framed mirrors, large bathrooms, spacious, walk-in closets and white faux wood blinds. There are fan outlets in the livingroom and bedroom ceilings, so we purchased simple white fans from Lowes and the space was always comfortable. The staff was just as pleasant and attentive after we moved in as they had been before we moved in, and I think that's extremely important. I've read the other reviews and it's true that construction went on for many months, and during that time, many renters were annoyed with the inconvenience and the related noise. We lived there for a year and a half and NEVER saw a roach, so I'd like to make it clear that this property does not have an insect problem. If it had, we would have promptly vacated our apartment.

Positive Experience Overall
When I first moved here there were a few items that needed improvement. But in the last few months management has addressed the issues and have been very responsive to requests. There is no noise issue with the apartments, our neighbors are very quiet. I never used the pool, but the public walking trails are nearby and are very nice. The gym is nice too, but it's usually kept too hot. No issues with parking, there are a lot of moving and furniture trucks coming and going each week but they tend to leave room to get past them. It gets very quiet here after 9pm and stays quiet all night. People here are tidy and good about picking up after their dogs most of the time. The rent is on the higher side here but the floorplans are laid out so well, it feels more like living in a house than an apartment. The garden tub is a nice touch, water heater is more than adequate, other kitchen appliances were new and in great working condition. I had one brief problem with ants a few months ago, but after maintenance sprayed I never saw any again. Never saw any other kind of bug. I'm moving out soon to a house, but would have happily stayed here longer in other circumstances. If you are willing to pay a little more rent than some other places, it's worth it to have the space, the newness (buildings and appliances are maybe 2 to 2.5 years old?) and the polite neighbors.

Wonderful Amenities
We lived here temporarily through corporate housing for about one month. We were impressed with the staff and how quiet the place was considering how many people and dogs live there! My kids had a great time with the pool, game room, and walking path down by the lake. The dog park is in the blazing sun so it isn't really functional if that is something you are looking for. They also had a place to wash your car for free which was hardly ever being used. The place waters all its landscaping with reclaimed water so I thought that was a plus. We had a couple of maintenance issues while we were there but the maintenance crew got there quickly and was very nice. We also met lots of very nice neighbors. We are in our house now but would definitely recommend Weston Lakeside to friends and family. Many of the people that relocated with my husband's company still live there. I think for singles or people without children who don't want any maintenance responsibilities and don't want to commit to being here by buying a house it is ideal.

A serious review. YES: beware of this place!!
Ok, so.. The ambiance of Weston Lakeside is like no other. When you pull into the complex, you will be impressed. It is gorgeous. My brother works construction and said the brick work on these apartments woulda cost a pretty penny. Setting that aside, let me tell you the pros and cons. Pros are the place is brand spanking new, like 1.5 yrs old. I'm sure some units haven't yet been lived in. The fixtures are upscale, counter tops may be granite or close to, appliances upscale. Kitchen is really pretty. Faux wood floor in kitchen looks really fake but whatever. My bathroom is huge, and the double sinks/fixtures are snazzy. Carpet really pretty, it's new. The crown molding and walls, arches, and pillars make the apartment look really upscale. People are always impressed when they come over. It sits next to Crabtree Creek and walking trails into Cary are your backyard! And some have lakeviews which are gorgeous Cons are as follows: There is a large construction site next to building two with on-going projects, some days they start as early as 6AM and work until 10PM with huge lights, and the reverse beeping as become a chorus in my head. They yell and play music, and it's horrible if you are at home during the day. I asked to be switched to a different unit, but they said I could only do so for a higher rent. Ekkk. There are some roaches around the complex, the upstairs neighbors sound like they are pounding all night long. There are no closets, ceiling fans or lights on the walls so that is kinda annoying. And the previously mentioned constant contruction with the sticky substances they keep schlacking down passing for cement, I do not know. Beyond that, rent away!

Moving when lease is up
I moved into a two bedroom with my now fiance in Sept. Since then it has been nothing but a continual construction nightmare. Whoever built these apartments should be out of business and whoever is repairing them should be fired. The balconies needed to be replaced, the floors have been painted and now the paint is coming up. A bizarre sand coating was put on the floors and balconies OVER the blue paint tape and is now coming up. When they did work on the balcony, they put a sticky coating down and then put our deck furniture back on the balcony, which STUCK to the balcony! Access is blocked to floors. Maintenance problems are not fixed (except by one guy who they didn't make supervisor), instead the maintenance supervisor cancels our work orders. We had a water leak in our laundry room that was barely fixed and still not painted. The office staff is courteous and friendly, I'll give them that. But the only action I've seen them take amidst all these construction problems is to put signs up. Maybe they can't do anything about it, but I am. I've had too many inconveniences and issues to be at all satisfied here. As soon as our lease is up, we're moving. Weston Lakeside is pretty from the outside, but once you get in it's a nightmare.

Great Place to call home
Prior to moving to NC, I had done extensive research on Cary/Raleigh's apartment communities. My husband & I chose Weston Lakeside, sight unseen, based on ratings, location, amenities, and last but not least, helpful staff. This decision has proven to be, hands down, the right choice. The setting here is serene next to Lake Crabtree, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The apartments are luxurious, and most residents are quiet and courteous. Moving into an apartment with our children after being homeowners for many years, we realistically expected some negatives. As stated in previous ratings, you can hear your neighbors. It just depends on who is living upstairs/next door as to the seriousness of the problem. The noise ranges from thumping footsteps above to hearing dogs barking, loud conversations, toilets flushing etc. We recently moved into another building for the view/amenities ( which are phenomenal, by the way ) , and elected to not get a top floor unit. If you need total quiet, I suggest renting on the top floor. Some irresponsible dog owners don't scoop their pet's waste, which is just gross. Thankfully, they are in the minority. The management sends out monthly reminders about this problem, and the maintenance staff try to keep up with the clean up. Finally, the office staff are remarkable. When my husband & I told our leasing agent that we wanted to move to another building, she heartily encouraged us while immediately looking for availabilities that would meet our family's needs. She was in almost constant contact with us during this process. Her professionalism, efficiency, and positive caring attitude made this challenging experience a success for our whole family. The manager is a fine man who takes pride in his work and this community. He is dedicated to things being done right here to correct original building flaws mentioned in previous posts. We have found the assistant manager pleasant and helpful, particularly with the financial details of our transfer. The other leasing agent is also sweet & always ready to help. The maintenance staff is quick to respond to needed repairs, and does a fine job. Weston Lakeside is not perfect, well almost, and our family is happy to call it home.

poor
When I lived here, the management staff here was below average. Trip proved himself to be the worst of the lot. Sounds like he still "works" there. I always figured he got the job from his daddy's friends owing daddy a favor. The insulation between apartments--whether between walls or between floors is the worst. If you have heavy footed neighbors above you, you can hear every footstep loud and clear, especially if they are wearing high heels. And if your neighbor has a flat screen TV mounted on the shared wall, you hear the TV as if it were in your apt. If you're going to live here, take the top floor, otherwise, pray you have considerate neighbors. HAHAHA!

NOISE NOISENOISE!!!!
I agree with some of the other postings.. The noise is terrible. I have DJ Scribble and a family of water bison that live above me. You would think that you pay that much to live there that the floors would be thicker. I was told that each apartment was on a concrete slab. WRONG... The apartment is beautiful, the view is beautiful, all that stuff.. BUT the slobs that live above me make a POINT to loud. I have had pictures fall off my wall, and when I have banged on my wall the STOMP the SAME number of times to get me back. I HAVE freakin HAD IT!! 90% of us have lived in an apartment, and you would think that the people living in this complex would have the CLASS to walk softly through their apartment, or be considerate of the people that live around them. I make a POINT to walk softly in my apartment. I know for a FACT that the person that lives below me CANNOT HEAR ME AT ALL!!!! And what's with the guy that has the freakin dirt bike parked in one of the PRIME parking spots in front of the 3rd building... it hasn't left that spot in a YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Move it to the back of the parking lot. AND another thing about the noise. I have asked the management to address the issue to my apove neighbors, and I know for a FACT they haven't done anything. If you can live without granite countertops, and a lake view, you can get more bang for your buck somewhere else!!!

Great Place
Great Place to live. The office staff is very nice and a pleasure to be around. The amentities on the property are better than any other place I have checked into. I looked at about 8 other properties when I started checking into the Cary area. This was the only one that caught my eye. The crown molding, granite counter tops, and upper scale appliances made me feel right at home. I would reccomend this place to anyone.

Shoddily built
I like this place overall, but as others have mentioned, things can get noisy. The double insulated walls, etc. is either a marketing ploy or each layer of insulation is cardboard. You hear your neighbors, and they hear you. Another issue, but probably related, they have had to do so much construction after the fact in order to fix things that were poorly done in the first place. Whoever built this place is having a good laugh, since the property was sold right after being built. The breezeways in one of the buildings had to be demolished and rebuilt. The balconies on the front of one of the buildings had to be torn down and rebuilt. In the same building, the french doors in each apartment had to be ripped out and put back in and holes had to be cut in the ceilings of all of the patios to tighten support railings (this was done during the holidays). All of this work takes time, inconvenience, and noise - though your neighbors help drown out the noise. My cable guy also told me that most cable contractors wouldn't even come to this place because whoever wired the place did such a terrible job. It took him about 4 hours to install my cable. He said it should have taken about 20 minutes. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the building is just poorly built. I understand that the same company that built this complex is also building condos. Renting is one thing, but if you're looking into buying a condo make sure that it isn't built by the same people. It would not be a good investment.

Gorgeous Apartments and beautiful lake view!
I rented the apartment after relocating and waiting for my new home to be built. After staying at the apartment for 6 months, I wanted to stay longer instead of moving into the new house ... I love the stress-free life style. Here are a list of some the positives: - interior walls are painted a nice neutral beige color (not white!) - granite kitchen counter tops - crown molding through-out - brand new apartment - beautiful location with bike/walking trail around the lake - gorgeous pool area with sand volley ball court and barbeques - great staff and very responsive. They throw little evening parties and give a way gifts. My wife won a $25 gc for Belks. - great facilities with gym, movie room, billiards, computers, fax. - location is great with a Starbucks and restaurants up the street Over all I had a very positive experience with my 6 month stay. Some of the apartments actually have a view of the lake, but I was not able to get one as they are in high demand. The tenants seem to be mostly professionals and there were a few other families similar to mine. I think there are a lot of people relocating to the Triangle area who are in a similar position. I considered 5 different apartments when looking, at this was hands-down the best choice for us.

best place to live!!
I moved here from another state and had reservations about moving into a place I had never visited; Weston ended up being the nicest and most beautiful apartments I've ever seen! The apartments themselves are spacious and the extra little touches (arched doorways, granite tops, crown molding) make them really feel tike home. The location is ideal. Weston is nessled in the woods beside a small lake surrounded by trails (both paved and unpaved). I would absolutly suggest this complex to anyone young or old, single or maried!

Nice crown molding (on those cardboard walls)
It is a beautiful property, no doubt about that. You can't beat the location, the view, and the apartments' interior is gorgeous. However, I would sacrifice my lovely granite countertops to not have to hear the herd of buffalo stampeding above me every day. I work from home, and apparently so does my upstairs neighbor. From 8 a.m. often until 11 p.m., there is stomping, running, slamming--sometimes so bad it rattles the dishes in my cabinets! I understand there is some price to pay when you live in an apartment, but considering they seemed to have spared no expense on the countertops/crown molding/theater room, I wish as much attention could have been paid to insulation. I know it's double-insulated, but that's simply not enough when I can hear my next-door neighbor snoring through the wall (or worse--I can discuss the state of his romantic life too, if you like). There have also been a couple of pesky maintenance issues--don't get me wrong, the staff is always very nice and professional--but the noise is my chief complaint. Overall, it's a very nice place to live...just don't rely on the double-insulation, and *do* get yourself a top-floor apartment.

Just Wonderful!
I have no idea who wrote that other review, but they must have been confused and had the wrong property. Weston Lakeside is wonderful, lovely, nice and quiet. There is lots and lots of parking, you can park on either side of the building. I have not had a single problem with noise, the apartments are double insulated and are very quiet. There are trails on property that go along the lake. It is all very peaceful and serine. It is the only place to live in Cary.

Weston Lakeside is Excellent
I don't know who the fellow is from the first post, but I will agree with everyone else about the quality of Weston Lakeside. The staff is very available, knowledgeable and friendly. Two of the three live right on the property. The amenities and landscaping are fabulous. The people are nice. And I have NEVER seen anyone in the parking lot who wasn't a resident. The only people in our parking lot are simply walking dogs or heading toward their apartment---there is no loitering. The walls are a bit thin. I can hear my neighbors, but nothing unusual--just walking above or maybe a soft toilet flush in the early AM. No one plays loud music or has barking dogs. I highly recommend this property. Good location, beautiful interiors and exterior. I am always proud to have people over...they gush! Stephanie Davidson
