I love living at the Hilltop but the prices are getting crazy and so are the rules of the pool. I feel the office staff should be a little more compassionate towards the residents. We pay luxury prices so we should be treated as if we are living in luxury. I have been a resident since the first phase opened and I have seen so many changes. I stay because it is safe for my 5 year old but if I find something to buy in the next year you will loss another renter.

We definitely enjoy liviing at the Highlands. Initially we had problems with the noise level which was eliminated when the maintenance team came to our apartment and fixed the wall between our apartment and our neighbors apartment. Ever since then we definitely enjoy living here.

Highlands At Hilltop is nearly brand new. Facilities are great, gym is never crowded. Nice hiking trails on the Hilltop Reservation behind the complex. Utilities are a little expensive for a one bedroom. Parking garage is climate controlled.

above average units and they keep the grounds areas clean. However, they don't offer any touch ups or service upgrades to tentant renewals. while rents still keep increasing above market vaule each year. a bit unfair with equally nice apts coming to Montclair.

I don't feel like writing two hundred words so I am just typing this so that i can hit the finish button. I was willing to take a survey but i don't feel like writing something other than it is an easy way of living. It's like living in a luxury hotel = just missing the concierge.

Excellent maintenance and attention to details by all staff. Premises kept spotless. Attractive surroundings. Nice co-tenants. Great amenities including gym, pool, golf simulator, etc. Proximity of Essex County Park system a real plus.

I would and have recommended living here. I have enjoyed all the amenities. The appliances are first rate and the landscaping is pristine. Having the underground garage this harsh winter was a gift. Overall I have enjoyed my life here since selling my house.

I love living here! It's peaceful and the amenities are wonderful. It's very pet friendly which is a huge plus! The pool is gorgeous and the Hilltop Reservation is a great back yard. It seems like coming home to a vacation after a long day at work.

I have been here for over two years and have found it very convenient, safe and well kept. The neighbors are friendly but not intrusive and the maintenance staff respond quickly and are very friendly.It is expensive to live here, however, worth it.

Over all this has been a good experience for us. Neighbors are friendly & caring but not intrusive. Staff responds well to issues & needs. I would prefer that the community was without pets - but managment has strict requirements & rules, so no big pet issues so far.

Works very well for us.. Only here part time, but it is good when we come back. Very pet friendly - only wish more prepuce picked up after their dog as we do all the time.. Hope that the community continues to keep up the quality of the area and services.

Not sure about the negative review below, but that must have been in the very early days. I have lived at the Highlands at Hilltop for the last year and it has been nothing short of amazing. The staff is attentive, responsive and knew my name from the first time I walked in the office. The few times I had minor issues in my apartment they were resolved either the same day or the next. I have never heard a peep from any of my neighbors and all of the buildings and amenities are kept in top shape. Even the flowers are changed seasonally which most people probably wouldnt notice but I think it is a great touch that shows that management cares about the condition of the property. It is a shame I cannot buy here or I would in a heartbeat.

Retreat living in New Jersey

I love living at the Highlands at Hilltop. The staff are wonderful, the apartments are beautiful and the scenery is top-notch. The amenities are amazing--I work out at the state of the art gym, I've watched movies in the theatre room and sat poolside last summer. The neighbors are nice too. The community is older, so no wild parties and very little noise. The lobby is clean and it one thing is ever out of place, it is quickly attended to. I can't speak enough about living at The Highlands at Hilltop--it is a great place to live, and as the old NJ slogan use to say: "Come see for Yourself!"

Total nightmare

This has been the absolute worst rental experience I have ever encountered. All that glitters is certainly not gold. They had to basically rebuild the majority of the shared walls due to lack of insulation and no sound proofing. Then when it came time to compensating tenants, tenants had to sign a gag agreement prohibiting them from ever talking about what happened. Staff incapable of being accountable or holding other tenants accountable for lease violations. After multiple police complaints, they just renewed the lease of a woman who literally screams at the top of her lungs all through the night at the voices in her head. Good luck to the poor sucker who moves in to this place.
