Regardless of the problems I faced, this apartment is good and clean with perfect location and great office employers. Sport centre is good and clean, great swimming pool. The laundry room way too far from my apt.

I love my apartment home! I'm a graduate student and the environment at Vairo Village is peaceful and relaxing. My apartment is spacious and has a lovely view from my balcony. The staff are always professional and courteous. I would highly recommend Vairo Village to anyone considering moving to the State College area.

Average. The maintenance response has been extraordinary most of the time in their response and handling of issues. The community is generally clean and quiet and has great amenities especially the recent addition of internet was awesome. Would like to see washer and drier added and probably dishwasher.

This is a very quiet, clean and safe community. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Laundry and lounge area are very clean and usable. The gym may be a little crowded at times but is great! The cabinets may be a little dated in certain units but are definitely usable. Just be cautious when doing the walk through, make sure you are checking EVERYTHING! All in all this is a great place and service requests are taken care in a very speedy manor.

Overall very good. I have never had any major issues with management. The first service request I filled out to repair a kitchen drawer took more than a month though, however when the staff finally got around to it they fixed it in a few hours.

The community has been great here. Rarely noise from the neighbors except during weekends where they have party and all. It is also very convenient where the community is very near with grocery store.

Vairo Village serves as a great living community with many great services that are provided such as the swimming pool and the lounge. However, the apartments are a bit old but it's not a big issue. I would recommend it.

The office staff have been fairly unresponsive to questions or comments. The property has had some upgrades but they were done in a poor manner. For example, the maintenance crews drive their truck over our unit's primary sidewalk resulting in mud, debris, and a mess. This is compounded by the face that the parking drive repaving was stopped short of our building, and left as a muddy dirt path so it remains mud and slip during rainy days.

I live in the phase three apartments, it's very quiet. I like the improvements they are making to the buildings, such as the improved balconies. The gym is nice. I love the different paths to walk my dog on. Overall I like it for a temporary place to live.

It's very convenient to live in this community. Bus stops are close, maintenance service is prompt, staff is courteous, rent is comparable. I like everything but the neighbor. Some are just not considerate.

It's my friend recommended me to move. The rent fare is ok, but the building I live is very old. The air conditioner during winter is noisy. Since I live at first floor, the step sound at the second floor is also noisy.

Vairo Village is a good community to stay. I've been here for four years. The first year I lived on the first floor and that was 365 days of nightmare, simply because the apartment was built by woods, noises could come through easily, and the person above me was always walking in the middle of night. Thus, I moved to second floor next year and since then everything is great.

Inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. That said, a good starter apartment for students. Plenty of amenities that you have no choice but to pay for, and a maintenance staff that will get to it eventually. Often features garbage in the road

So far the community has been fine, the office staff leaves a lot to be desired. There has been a lot of construction and landscaping around the apartments. The main issue I have is my ceiling is EXTREMELY thin and I can hear my neighbors every move, that's something that needs to be changed.

Vairo Village is the pinnacle of of bad management and poor practices. Starting off with the amenities on the complex: there is an onsite gym and laundry. The gym is mediocre and small (about 3 treadmills and elliptical machines, lat pulldown, leg extension). If you are looking for a gym that is CLOSE to your apartment and has proper equipment, this is a gym that is too small and has too less equipment. The laundry room has many units - however these units are very small which usually results in having to use two washers and two dryers - total of $7 per laundry trip. Take this into account when calculating your costs - for me, it definitely isn't worth it to live here. For the apartment itself, the carpets were dirty, smelly and most of all, the kitchen was unclean when we first moved in. This of course, completely contradicting the fact that they WASHED THEIR CARPETS and charge you a $140 carpet cleaning upon move out. Completely unacceptable and just another way for them to take your money. Management was unhelpful and completely incompetent. The stove was not working upon move in and had to get the stove switched (total duration which took about 2 days). Unacceptable when appliances should have been checked and repaired before move in. Not to mention that the thermostat was improperly calibrated and had to be fixed as well. Refrigerator was also leaking water from the top of the fridge to the bottom, causing a puddle of water to constantly be at the bottom of the fridge. Should have been fixed along with the mountain of other things but again too much to ask their management for. Management also screwed up with renter's insurance. They made a huge fuss over my own renter's insurance...which clearly states that it covers ANY rental or home that I live in but Vairo wouldn't have any of that - EVEN when the insurance company contacted the management themselves. If your employees do not understand how renter's insurance policies work, I suggest that you properly educate your employees or just hire new ones. Eventually after about a month of negotiating back and forth they FINALLY accepted the renter's insurance policy. Seems a bit much to go through all of this hassle just because their employees are incompetent. The parking lot is even worse - when it snows, there is no proper clean up (even for the sidewalks). Students with morning classes have an extremely tough time getting to the bus stop and I have seen multiple people fall down just because Vairo takes an extremely long time to properly clean the sidewalks and streets (sometimes delaying their clean up by one whole day). This is unacceptable and they should be sued for even doing that. Take into consideration the snowfall stopped during the night time and in the morning it should already be taken care of. In summary, don't stay at Vairo. You'll deal with incompetent management, LONG wait time when moving in (scheduled appointment at 2:30, had to wait until 4:30 PM to get keys), and a lot of problems that honestly should never happen when renting ($140 carpet charge and dirty carpets upon move in, dirty and old gym equipment, old laundry units). Do not stay at Vairo. You will regret every second of it.

I normally don't write any kind of reviews. However, I have to warn people so they won't get screwed like I did. First of all, the building that I lived in (I bet other buildings are in the same condition as well) is old and poorly constructed. I don't understand how they even passed the inspection. Foundation is uneven. Floor is extremely sloped and uneven. Bathroom floor had water damage that never got fixed, I could feel the subfloor rotting underneath. That's a safety issue. The gap between the Front door and the threshold was so big I could see outside through it. Hence, crazy electricity bill. Our AC unit broke and didn't get fixed the entire summer. The guy said they were busy. Still, I paid insane amount of electricity bills during summer and no AC. Second of all, after our lease ended, we got our final electricity bill for 3 weeks of February. We had moved out of the place by then, and half of the time the thermostat wad set to 58 and the other half it was not even on due to the warmer weather. They charged me 66 dollars. That's how much it costs to run the refrigerator there apparently. Their explanation is vague and confusing and they flat out said they wouldn't do anything about it. Third, when we left the apartment, we left it in pristine condition. I replaced all the blinds that had even slight damage. I replaced the stove dip dishes. I spot cleaned the carpet.(even though I paid them 145 dollars for professional cleaning separately anyway) There were no holes on the walls. They charged 200 dollars for loose hinges on the kitchen cabinets saying they were falling off. No. The hinge screw holes were loose and the frame itself was cheap, glued together particle board. I kept tightening the screws when they went loose and who calls the maintenance for loose screws?? Now the manager says we have to pay them 200 dollars for repair, which is ridiculous because stripped screw holes are 5 dollar fix with mr. Grip. Not 200 dollars. And she basically said we should have reported them. Now I see I would have been completely screwed had I not addressed the rotting subfloor in the beginning of the lease because, God knows how much they would charge me for THAT? Fourth, the manager there is just rude. She has a self righteous attitude. She said, "I have had my cabinets for 5 years and they are fine" or something along the line with a tone as if she was talking to a kid. Well, that's probably because yours are not made of cheap 100 bucks particle board!! Here is my thought. They are used to screwing College kids and international students and ripping them off because most of them move out of town or country after their lease ends and some of them don't speak English well enough to argue with them. They probably know that these people won't come back to State College to fight and dispute over security deposit. So they feel free to rip them off as they please. Well, I'm fighting them over my 200 dollars. I'm not moving out of town. I got time and a lawyer. I am a reasonable person and it wouldn't have come to this point if the manager approached the issue differently but her attitude pushed me over the edge. **UPDATE** We called them this morning to demand the work order and receipt for the repair and an explanation as to how they came up with 200 dollars for fixing loose hinges. We had already talked to our lawyer and were ready to take them to court if we had to. The manager said it'd just needed a little manipulation(Ha! funny. So they weren't falling off.) and they're giving our money back. So, it wasn't a 200 dollar job, apparently. I don't know if it's the maintenance guys or the management, but somebody tried to take advantage of us. Over all, very shady people with poor attitude. I do not recommend Vairo Village.

I moved into my apartment about a month ago and have no complaints other than my upstairs neighbors walk loudly, I can't hear them do anything else, they just walk loudly at night. I am a single mother with a toddler and this community is perfect for us. There is a local park that is within walking distance, the complex has a pool, it is within walking distance to the Walmart shopping center, and is extremely close to the bus stop. I have put in two request for VERY minor maintenance and they were both resolved within the hour of sending them out. The apartment was clean from top to bottom at move in and was freshly painted. Extremely well maintained. Tawni in the office is always quick to return my emails, as well as, Candee the property manager. Everyone I have worked with from the office staff to the maintenance staff has had awesome customer service and has been extremely friendly. Overall, I am happy with my apartment and community!

Normally, I do not do these types of reviews and this is to make the general junta aware of the place for their own good. This place is a piece of s***. Be careful to not take a room next to a thermostat as you are likely to wake up in the middle of the night from the sound made by those 30 yr old machines. The heating insulation is s*** and the leasing office deploys deceptive techniques to tie you in to the lease even if you do not have any intention to do so. In our case, they tied us in for a whole year bcos we didn't give them any notice by Jan 31( though the lease ends in 8th Aug) and are now trying to squeeze out of us every penny that they can. Personally, I would advise everyone to stay away from this place, and in case someone decides to take this place, be VERY careful to scrutinize and read at least the first 5 pages of their enormous lease document.

My husband and I have lived here for several years, in separate apartments and then together. Overall, we have found both apartments to be entirely satisfactory and the community to be wonderful. I lived in their smaller one-bedroom and it was a great option for a single person. Enough space, funky storage, but spacious and well-maintained. Now we live in a larger one-bedroom and it is the perfect size for two busy students. The buildings are older but well-maintained. The second-floor apartments have steep stairs, but a nice balcony. We rarely hear our neighbors, barring the occasional boisterous party or movement up and down the stairs. The staff (maintenance and rental office) are wonderful, efficient and friendly. They respond quickly to our needs and are happy to address any issue. When we were deciding which apartment to move into, they took the time to talk us through the options and even suggested the best fit for us. The get-togethers with the community are also fun! The bus pass is a good perk, and being at the top of the route means you always catch the bus. I've always felt safe walking around the property, even late at night. We've always been happy here and it's been a lovely place to call home.

Hello, if anyone is looking for apartment for school or to live, don't go to Vario Village. I am current resident at Vario Village and I am looking towards my lease ends so I can get out of Vario Village. The management and leasing department at Vario Village is rude to their residents. Leasing department will force you sign stuff that you don't agree to and if you have any questions, you will get no answers. The leasing and management department will tell you "Deal with it". Vairo Village's laundry mat and exercise room is never cleaned and equipment is never maintenance. Vario Village's laundry recent update and new equipment is more confusing and breaks down more than old equipment. Vario Village parking lot is never cleaned out when it snows. Both Vario Village and contractors that Vario Village hires will wait two or three days to clean the apartment. If you file a complaint or suggestion about something, you will get ignored. I have filed couple complaints and several suggestions that can make area more easier to live. They will laugh or ignore you. The one good thing is Vario Village maintenance department does good job to what they can do without management and leasing department not controlling there actions. If management or leasing gets involved with maintenance tech working something, it will not get fixed due to cost. If management or leasing does not get involved, it will get fixed. I had maintenance called for couple calls and they get the job with no problems (unless management or leasing is involved). For the price to rent at Vario Village does not adjust to what you actually get. Living at Vario Village is too expensive and don't get your money worth at all. The amenities cost is also too expensive. You will be forced to pay for it, even you don't use some of amenities that come with Vario Village. At the end, don't come to Vario Village, you will regret it. I can't wait for my lease to expire so I can move it and find nice place to live or buy a house.
