don't move here

Silver Rock is in need of new management. If you ever call the office for any reason they sound like they are so annoyed for having to deal with their residents. Not only that but if you happen to be walk in and no one is at the front desk you can here them gossiping about the residents in their office. They need to take classes on being more professional. Oh yeah, the work orders take a mininum of two weeks for any follow through and that's only if you remind them. My friend also had his car broken into but this was before the cameras, not that it matters since they're just props.

Silver Rock: Rock with a silver lining

The age old saying...."Every cloud has its silver lining". While going through my dark cloud in life of a heartbreaking separation and divorce, I found my silver lining, my rock of refuge at Silver Rocks Apartments. The staff was soooo friendly, understanding, prompt to act. They have provided a clean and safe atmosphere for my family. Recently, when my Dad was in the hospital on life support, the concern and support that was offered by the staff was overwhelming.
The community activities they offer helps to build a family atmosphere; from such things as the clothing drive for hurricane Katerina victims to having holiday BBQ/parties to the Wednesday Family Movie Nights. I have met some wonderful neighbors hanging out at the well maintained pool and fitness room.
My requests for repairs have been promptly responded to and the work done with excellence and expertise.
Thank you Silver Rock for being my rock during a stormy year. You have put smiles on my children's face and have been our family.
Keep up the good work!

        Exceptional Service.

I have lived at Silver Rock for 2 years. and just signed another 15 months.I work nearby and it is very convenient. I have 2 sons and they go to a great school. Ed and Ruby are the leasing agents, and have made me and my boys feel at home. They go out of their way to find activities for the children. I love my apartment! I have recieved alot of compliments on how beautiful it is here.

We just renewed our lease here at Silver Rock. My experience here has been wonderful.
It is a great place to live in a nice area, I would recommend living here to anyone. I have not dealt with the staff much, but when i did they were great.

            Lousy maintence

The only redeeming quality about Silver Rock is the location so if you have another option I would take it. I had to ask them once or twice a month for a year to fix my air conditioner. I would travel for a couple days during the summer and come home to an 85 degree apartment. They would fix it the next day, but a couple weeks later it was broken again. At one point I told the manager that this would be the 10th time Ive reported my AC not working and her response made me believe that she heard that type of thing all the time.

              great.

I have had NO problems living here! If you are a student and want college apartments, this isn't really the place to live! It's real nice and chill and laid back for someone that isn't in a party mood all the time!

                I love it here

I have been living here nearly over a year and a half and I LOVE IT. We moved in a year this passed June with my roommate who also thinks this has to be the best place we have lived at so far. She recently got married to someone in the military and I was left in a predicament with a two bedroom by myself. As you might know the military clause protected her. We both spoke to management and they allowed me to transfer to a smaller apartment. I had to pay the transfer fees that weren't cheap but you know what it was worth it. I am a student at UTSA and I hear all the complaints students have on where they live and I have none. Infact I have referred 3 other residents here that I work with and they love it too (darn locators!! I didnt get the referral certificate).

Ed- Happens to be the best leasing agent with the greatest personality. He is always willing to help and goes out of his way to do so.

Celina- is the manager and let me say, LOVE HER! She is the one that helped me with my problem. I really appreciate all she has done for me. Great open door policy!

Crystal- she too is really nice. She always makes sure that she remembers you by name which makes you feel welcome.

Maintance- I cant speak about these guys because I have NEVER had, had them come out to fix anything in the two apartments I have lived in. I am sure they are great because I always see them working on something. I would like to say this is a compliment that they haven't had to come out to my apartment.

Yes, its true these apartments are a bit expensive if you dont catch them on a special. I know my friends got a better rate then I did when they moved in, but truely its worth it. I can't stress it enough, I would rather pay a bit more and have a safe, happy, comfortable, beautiful place to come home to.

Now I guess this wouldn't be so realistic without at least one negative thing. So if someone were to ask me what is one thing you dont like about Silver Rock? My answer would be that I don't like facing the street because of all the noise from Bandera (building 5). Especially when the Spurs win a game (you can tell I am not from here). This wasn't a problem when I lived in building 9. Its always a risk that you might get stuck with noise neighbors when living in apartments and that was my case. They were heavy set people and tended to stomp around upstairs, I could tell you exactly where they were in their apartment if you needed to know. Sorry not trying to be rude but it could be unbearable at times (such as the times when my roommate or I were sick and needed to get sleep).

I am going to leave this posting with just a few words....

I highly recommed these apartments that are in a perfect location with great staff always there willing to help out residents.

Thanks, Alexandra

BIG disappointment...do NOT consider living here!

We lived there for a year...my family of four with two small children. We were told that this was a family community, but we were rudely awakened to this disgraceful inaccuracy very quickly when the college student neighbors moved in above, and next door. Our children were very young, and the partying that kept us all up at night was torture. We had to call the police numerous times, especially the night I viewed the young man urinating outside my child's bedroom window.
I became very overprotective, especially when our cat went missing.
We pleaded with the management, and expressed our outrage at the behavior permitted there, but it apparently went to deaf ears, because this type of atmosphere continued on until our lease was up. Needless to say, we couldn't get out of there fast enough!
Oh, yes...and our furniture was stolen out of our rented garage due to an automatic opener malfunction. We were never compensated for our loss, and the apartments refused any responsibility.

I am about to move and and I can tell you the staff here does not know how to run anything. They NEVER respond to maitenance calls and when they do they don't fix it. My car got broken into here and they were not helpful in anyway. Also, nothing ever works right so our energy bill is always through the roof. DO NOT RENT

You get what you pay for!

Silver Rock prides themself on their good deals, but remember... you get what you pay for. A little advice - go somewhere else. You may pay a little more each month, but it is worth it.

I would NOT refer you to Silver Rock

I should have known Silver Rock would not be the complex I was looking to live in when I was told my carpet was brand new and when I moved in there were stains everywhere. Maybe I should have known after the "Security Gates" weren't opening or closing or almost a month, at which point we had several cars broken into. Or when besides our normal monthly rent we got another bill a couple dyas later for $1.23 which informed us that there was a computer problem on last bill and it was $1.23 short so we needed to pay this within 24 hours or be charged a "late fee".I would have thuoght simply waiting until next month to add that huge sum of $1.23 would have worked but when I failed to right a check out for $1.23 for fear my bank would just laugh. I did get nasty letters saying they "NEEDED that $1.23.
The management here at silver rock is the worst part of the whole deal. The GM needs to take some public relations courses. If you do live here HOPE and PRAY for many months that nothing breaks because it could be a long time before it gets fixed. I bought a house close to the end of my lease here ( 11 days short) and when I asked if this apartment could be rented out earlier so I would not have to pay both my house payment and rent for those 11 days I was laughed at by the staff here. At this point is when I was SO happy I never refered anyone to these apartments. There are many many many other choices here in San Antonio and I would recommend looking somewhere else.

                          Happy Resident

My living experience at Silver Rock in the 21/2 years that I´ve lived here has been nothing but pleasant. From the manager to the maintenance staff, you could not find a more professional, friendly, courteous and helpful bunch. The property is one to be proud of and definitely feel safe at. I proudly and without reservation, refer this lovely property to anyone needing a place to call home. I would have written this much sooner, but only realized that this was available. I have also read the other reviews and in response to the ex-resident who said we have 2 SAPD on property and commented so negatively about the security gates (we have 1 officer)and as far as the gates, I for one never thought of that as a 100% deterrent from theft/vandalism - you can´t presume to be 100% safe anywhere you live even if you do own a home - that is just fact! As far as the incidents that she refers to, I would think that people should be appreciative that management gives us the courtesy of taking the time to distribute notices informing the residents of such events taking place. I too have received such notices since I have been here, but I also realize that we can´t hold management totally responsible for the acts of others - I feel confident in saying that I am sure they don´t want this type of activity occurring on their property either. Keeping in mind that problems like this can occur ANYWHERE, I reiterate - Silver Rock is a very nice place to call home!

These apartments are new enough to be modern and clean, but old enough to have good shade & privacy trees. The management is professional & pleasant and things are kept in good repair. Security is good with working gates and alarm systems in each apartment. The pool is kept clean. Any information about vandalism or trouble is given to residents quickly and actions are taken immediately. A great place to live.

My wife and I moved to silver rock with our two children during our 15 month lease maintenance was a difficult thing to get. We should not have moved in when we got the keys to the apartment we found the carpet was in terrible shape we let management know and they said the carpet is new its only 4 years old. When we moved out they charged us for the damage that was there to begin. Our rent was going to increase $240.00 and thank God we found a house that is less expensive and a twice as big as their biggest apartment. We are very unhappy with the apartment and with the management we would not recommend this to anyone. If you are thinking of renting here turn the other way and run as fast as you can.

Plus a young lady was assaulted and management played it down they said it was nothing. The following morning they were making the place of the attack more visible.

My Experiences Living at Bandera Crossing & Silver Rock Apartments

I am a single female in my late twenties. I would like to share my experiences with living at both of these locations for your own knowledge so that you may make a more educated decision on whether you choose to live here. So I will get right to the point. Let me preface this with saying that regardless of my experiences, I would still recommend living at either of these locations to my friends. I had the pleasure of living at both Bandera Crossing for two years and Silver Rock for one year before I became a homeowner this past year. They are located in a quiet neighborhood off of Bandera Road near 1604, across the street from eachother on Camino Villa. I love the location of these apartments and felt very much at home there. They are close to UTSA, a new HEB and other various shopping venues, as well as the Medical Center. As a young person engaged to be married, I found Bandrea Crossing to be very economical with lower rent prices than the norm. The community consisted of a lot of military families with children and retired senior citizens. It was a relatively quiet community with friendly people, a pleasant pool area and many mature trees. I never experienced ANY crime in my two year stay there nor did I ever see a police car visiting the vicinity. I DID decide to move across the street to Silver Rock, however, due to the over-abundance of pigeons that made my third floor balconey and fireplace their home (ha!) but most importantly, because of the very poor lack of a response I received from "management" on various maintenance issues I reported that occurred in my 15 year-old apartment that desperately required attention. They simply did not want to put a lot of money into replacing worn out heating and cooling systems that were causing my electric bill to sky rocket during the hot summer months. As much as I would have loved to stay, I was fed up and wanted out. At the time of my move-out, the issues were still never fully resolved and I felt truly sorry for whomever was to be the next renter of my apartment. As for Silver Rock, they are a much newer, pricier, gated community, with security cameras, spacious floorplans, garden bathtubs, decorative crown molding and neutral decorative tones that I absolutely loved. The complex seems to attract a lot of singles, college students, young couples and military families. If you don´t mind waking up to find the occasional stash of beer cans strewn on the front lawn from somebody´s night of partying, or paying an arm and a leg to rent a garage or covered parking, then you probably will be ok here. I enjoyed my one year stay there, as my apartment was to the back of the community, which enabled a bit of privacy and a nice view. The pool area was really nice too, even though I REALLY wished it had a bigger pool and a hot tub. I was dismayed, however, with the level of crime and theft in this "gated community" that had not one, but TWO SAPD officers living ON-SITE!! In my one year stay there, we received letters from management at least five different times that I can recall, announcing auto break-ins with various items being stolen out of at least six vehicles in one night, as well as pool furniture being stolen and/or broken and just plain disregard of people trashing the area and laundry room facilities with garbage such as condoms and beer cans. Clearly, it seemed to be an inside job from some very immature (and probably drunk)young people. What was worse, management was saying that it was up to us, the residents, to use "common sense" when leaving items in plain view in our vehicles overnight. Whatever! What about THEM DOING SOMETHING to prevent additional break-ins??!!! What´s the deal with security camera and gates if this is still going to happen??? Things got too close to home when the gentleman downstairs from me had his very nice, canary yellow two-door convertible top riped off in the middle of the night and the two leather bucket seats stolen from his car. Somehow, they managed to avoid the alarm system on the car. I must say, that is what made me finally throw in the towel on aparment living. Plus, they went up $100 on my rent if I chose to renew for another year. I was flabergasted!! For the same amount I was paying for my over-priced apartment, I now live comfortably in a two-story, three bedroom home in a cul-de-sac with a fireplace and big backyard to call my own. I could not justify paying such a high amount to live in a gated apartment community (with their joke of security cameras and entry codes!) and not feel secure that my own car or apartment wouldn´t get broken into. So there you have it. Nothing too out of the ordinary, but an eye-opener just the same. Happy apartment hunting!!!
