Zippy character or ambience but a cheap place to live for a year
I lived in this building for about a year and a half in a 1BR sunroom. I actually found maintence to be responsive and the front desk staff to be pleasant. The noise in may apartment seemed to come from the hallway, not from my next door neighbors. I thought the leasing office was alright, but I absolutely agree with previous posters that if you stay past your initial lease, they jack up the rent way beyond the unit's value. Only inertia kept me from moving once the lease was up. I went month to month for quite some time, at a rent increase of almost $200 per month.

My primary complaint is that the apartments are really cookie-cutter, though frankly that's a problems with most neighborhood buildings. The amenities are nice and they maintain the grounds well.

Loved (and miss) the indoor parking.

OK, as long as you know what you're in for.
I have been living here for about 1 and 1/2 years now, and I have found that the experience is highly dependent on the neighbors surrounding you. I feel that if I'm willing to fork out the ridiculus rent required, I deserve a quiet, pleasant apartment. The walls are super-thin... so when my older, quiet next-door neighbor moved out and my loud, "let's-put-our-speakers-right-up-against-our-neighb neighbors moved in, I was not pleased. Also, it is fairly common to hear lots of door-slamming and people loudly running through the halls late at night.

Unlike some of the other tenants listings, I have had mostly positive experiences involving maintenance -- usually responding within 24 hours of my request. On one occasion a water pipe broke and began to flood our apartment, and emergency maintenance was there at 1am, pulling up our carpet and trying to remedy the situation as much as possible.

There are definitely both good and bad points about living here. While the rent is super-high (as is any Courthouse high-rise), the location is great for someone new to the area and wanting to be close to the metro/DC. Now that I am familiar to the area and know what else is out there, I plan to move out as soon as my lease is up.

Very poor attitude towards tenants
Please note that the building management is known to put its own comments on here to increase their rating.

This building can be quite nice looking, and does have several amenities. But the walls are like paper and you will very quickly know WAY too much about your neighbors or groups of people in the halls. With lots of college students living here it is typical to have noise at night and the occasional vomit in the lobby or elevators to greet you in the morning. Worse though is that the management of the building has a very nasty attitude towards tenants. The policy seems to be that the customer is always wrong. Also if there is a way to add new charges they find it. This includes quickly raising the rent after your first lease and raising it by a lot each time you try to renew -- so that you actually pay more to stay than a new tenant would just moving in!

I recomment it
I have lived here at the Meridian for the past two years. So far, the experience has been great. Everything I need or want is close by. After a day at the office, I look forward to coming home to my apartment. The people that live here are friendly. The staff is courteous, and the main office personnel are professional. We recently had a social event with free food and drinks. Not exactly free with the rent we pay, but this area is anything but inexpensive. I recommend this place to all my family and friends.

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND
SO FAR SO GOOD. THE LEASING AGENT MADE THE WHOLE APPLICATION AND MOVING PROCESS EASY AND HASSLE FREE. I'V ONLY LIVED HERE A SHORT PERIOD, BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO LIVE HERE AND THOUGHT THE RENT WAS TOO HIGH, BUT YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION AND THE CONVENIENCE. I HAVE HAD A FEW MINOR ISSUES IN THE APARTMENT, BUT THE STAFF TOOK CARE OF IT IMMEDIATELY. EVERYONE'S VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T CHANGE.

Don't Do It! There is NO customer service in this building
As a long-time resident of the Meridian, I am here for the location and my own laziness in moving. But I am frequently reminded of just how bad this place is in terms of providing services (just basic stuff -- like working A/C, or keeping trash from smelling up the hallways). To put it simply, the management office alternates between being hostile towards the tenants, or somewhat pleasant but incompetent. The front desk personnel are highly untrained, provide no security and often are not around to accept mail/packages or sell visitor parking passes. They, and the answering service, seem to be told that at no cost should management be called in off-hours -- tenants should fend for themselves, and call the police or fire dept. to fix any issues after about 5 p.m. And despite the stated policy that A/C will be fixed immediately if the temp. is 80 degrees or above -- this is often not followed through ...I am aware of many cases where tenants are left stranded and told its "too late in the day" to do something about repairs. Another frequent problem -- the 'fob' security keys that provide access throughout the building malfunction often -- leading to either doors propped open all day, or the opposite problem of being locked out of the building or garage with no recourse except to wait for a passerby to let you in.

I should say that the cleaning staff is exceptionally hard working and do what they can to maintain the premises. But the management, and some of the maintenance staff can have terrible attitudes towards customer service...always surprising given the high rental prices. We are 'nickel and dimed' with added costs and new rules (most recently, most of the street parking and all visitor spaces have been removed from use...and they have added pool fees and required pool passes for the first time ever!) Turnover is high here, and there are plenty of reasons why!

great for young professionals
I lived there for 1 year, it was pricey, but the location is fantastic. There are many young professionals living there, so sometimes it felt like living in a college dorm room. Lots of hot chicks if you're a single guy. Had few maintenance problems, and when we called for maintenance they were usually there same day. The best thing is definitely the location.
