Great Experience

I leased a townhome sight unseen and was highly nervous about this. Once I got to the complex the staff made me feel welcome and helped me adjust to the area. I love the Broadlands area- I couldn't have picked a better location! The community is quite, small, and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Excellent Community

I have been a resident at the Van Metre Broadlands Apartments for four years and my experience here has been great. The staff and the residents are very friendly. Although I interact with all of the personals in the leasing office, Saliq Ali Khawar, has been very helpful and kind from day one. Anytime I may have needed some assistance he has never hesitated to lend his professional help. What an excellent community!

1st time renting - so far so good!

I recently moved back to the states from overseas and so far things are going great. As a first time renter all the people who I dealt with(Saliq, Kim, Kathy and Alisha)proved to be extremely helpful and considerate people. I really enjoy the quite community and it's location is great!

The most unhappy I've been with an Apartment... But good for families.

I lived here for about a year and couldn't wait for my lease to be up... It was highly recommended to me by multiple friends and has high ratings on this site. However, my experience here was not been ideal. First the positives... my actual apartment layout was fantastic! I definitely fell in love with the spacious floor plan and the fact that there are a lot of trees in the complex. The apartments brought in a lot of light (although I recommend dark curtains or a sleep mask if you plan on sleeping in... So bright in the place!) and I hardly ever had to turn my lights on or run my power. Even in the winter with my heat off it never got below 65 in my apartment. And the rent price is not bad at all. The location is convenient to the toll road and shopping (groceries and restaurants). Management is not bad. They tried their best to help but most of these problems are not fixable. You can't really choose who rents your apartments (or how many kids they have). They are very friendly and are easy to have a conversation with. Maintenance was good too. They did their best with the old appliances and poor building construction. They are friendly and helpful and fast to respond. Many times they were at my apartment within 20 minutes of calling them. Unfortunately I was having to call them a couple times a week it seemed. Everyone gets new carpet upon move in... I liked this because you didn't have to worry about other people's pet stains, etc. Although the apartment still wreaked of smoke when I moved in. I had to open all the windows and let it air out while I was moving in. Pets are allowed for a monthly pet rent and there are a lot of dogs in the complex. However, I hardly ever hear annoying barking other than a few here and there from the dog below me. Now... the negatives... and many of these are no fault of the complex itself but are just a reality of suburban life. The kids are a nightmare! There are a million of them and they are always running all over the place. I couldn't even get through the parking lot without having to honk my horn at these kids in the middle of the road. They have no respect and I have literally seen them crawling on people's motorcycles and cars (including my own!) They didn't get out of your way when you were trying to leave or park your car. They ran up and down the breezeways screaming and flinging sticks around like swords. I constantly heard kids trying to get their friend's attention in another apartment simply by standing outside and screaming for them! I guess if you HAVE kids, this might be a great thing because they are always out of your hair running around and will have a LOT of friends to play with. Parking was also horrible. There are very very few guest spots and resident parking was also packed all the time. They tow like crazy as well so if you have a guest and there's no guest parking left, I would have them park at the Harris Teeter and pick them up. They will get towed within 10 minutes. There have been many times I've had to park all the way around the corner because all the spots were gone (some buildings have WAY more parking than others). Noise in the apartments: I rarely ever heard my neighbors from the same floor. However, the people above me sounded like elephants! They also had kids who ran around and stomped all over the place. It was SO loud. And or course the kids running around the complex were definitely the loudest part. I got weird smells from the apartment below me seeping into mine (like moth balls). The appliances are old and didn't work very well. The dishwasher made a really loud strange sound when it was running. The smoke alarms always went off. ALL THE TIME! The oven always set them off... or a hot shower would set them off... or making toast (and not even burning anything)! The cheap laminate on the floors and cabinets was also peeling off and tacky. Some of the drawers in the kitchen didn't open and close well. The dryer was broken when I moved in. There was water damage on the walls by the windows. But overall... if you have a family and/or kids, this place is probably great for you. Very family oriented. However, if you want a nice quiet place that has nice fixtures- don't rent here! Or if you have guests visiting a lot- don't rent here. Or if you like to cook- don't rent here. Maybe it just wasn't for me and other people seem to love it. I am not going to say "Don't live here" but just be well informed of what you are getting into.

Good Apartment Living

I like it here location works for me. Apartment is great no issues in there. Parking is kind of tight in winter but I was assured it will get better. I can hear my neighbors only sometime when they have people over which I knew I would.

Location!!

We have really enjoyed our time here at Broadlands. We have been here for a few years and are definitely renewing! We love the location in the Ashburn area quite but still close to everything!! I love the fact the community is gated! We have had a few issues with maintenance but that is expected in an apartment complex- any issues we have though were resolved in a timely manner. Ted the maint. guy is great!! We have lived at other apartments across the Northern Virginia area and this is by far our top pick.

So far so good

We moved from out of state and found Broadlands online and decided we wanted to live here due to such rave reviews and being that is is located in Ashburn. We mainly chose this property due to the home rewards program Van Metre offers! It s a great thing that a company can offer 100% of your rent to go towards a Van Metre home purchase!! My husband and I have officially decided that after renting here we will be purchasing a Van Metre home once our lease is up. So far our experience at this property has been good. The leasing staff is very helpful and nice and maintenance is pretty good as well. All around our experience with Van Metre has been great and we would definitely recommend this place to others who are relocating to this area.

Loving our stay

No issues here

I've lived here since the begining, 2004, and have had no issues with maintanence or staff. Since the maint. supervisor Ted has been here my maintanence issues have been taken care of quickly, not to say i have many. I've thought I about buying a Van Metre home but then I would have to do my own maintanence as well as take care of my own yard- Why move when you have people here who are eager to help?

Awesome, Responsive Staff!

We have now lived at Broadlands for a few months. We absolutley love the community and staff. We are new to the Ashburn area but have adjusted quite nicely due to such a great responsive staff! Any issues we have had with maintanece they came out right away to fix it! The leasing office has also been very helpful with our moving experience to Ashburn- very polite and going above and beyond for us! Not only is the staff good to us our neighbors are too! Everyone seems to greet one another and are so friendly! The property is gorgeous and the property is very pet friendly. We love our new apartment and are happy to be here at Broadlands for the next few years.

Great Service

We have been living at Broadlands for 6 months now and are overall very happy except for the price. They are very, very expensive. The customer service is great, maintenance is prompt with any issues and they keep the grounds very clean. There are a lot of dogs so If your not a dog person this is not the place for you. If it wasn't so expensive we would be staying longer.

Fun Parties

We moved in last year and have been liking our stay so far. The best part of our stay is the resident parties. The cook out begining of the summer was done very well with music, food, and drinks we got to meet a lot of people living here in the comunity and we are looking forward to the next event.

Great Experience

Our move in process could not have been smoother. From the moment we began apartment shopping, Saliq was there to assist us with whatever we needed. We arrived at the leasing office with about 30mins till closing time. This didn't seem to bother Saliq, and he was willing to spend time with us walking through a very nice unit. I feel confident in saying we chose this complex because of our very positive experience that Saliq gave us.

Great Property and Superb Staff!

I have been at Broadlands now for about a month. I have been wowed since they day I walked in. I worked with a courteous leasing consultant who was diligent, honest, professional, and kind hearted. She has helped me from day one with leasing to any questions I have had. All the staff have been so helpful and kind. The maintenance staff is even great too! Ted has been courteous, responsive, and always showing a big smile! I'm so glad I choose to rent here for the next year. The property is well kept and I love the fact it is gated. I feel welcome when I walk onto the property. The property is very dog friendly which is a plus since I'm an owner of a large dog. Everything so far has been great! Broadlands and Van Metre company is definitely a community and company I d recommend to my friends and family.

crazy way to run a business

moved to area 4/11 changed our movein date three times a month apart then tryed to give us a smaller apt. as of 6/11 still no move in date had to find another place they cost us over 4000.00 dollars in hotel fees and refuse to give us back even our pet deposit. bad place bad management. they lie!!!!!!

Great Experience!

My husband and I moved to the Ashburn area due to his job relocation. The staff was so helpful with our move and transition to the area. I recommend this complex to anyone whether your lease is long or short term. We sadly have a short term lease due to building a home in the area. We are sad to leave the beautiful community and its great location- close to everything! During our stay this year we had a few maintenance issues who surprisingly came out right away to fix. They staff took care of us and we are thankful.

Don't waste your time

I have been a tenant at these apartments for going on 3 years now. At first, I loved these apartments, and would have and DID recommend these to co-workers and friends. That has all changed in the last 2 years. Current management can't seem to find the time to get back to me on any concerns I have, such as my door being left open after they painted it. E-mails go without a response, and phone calls get ignored! Don't waste your time and money, go somewhere else!

Great area to move. Everyone is very friendly all the neighbors and even people we meet in Harris Teeters. Broadlands is just a great comunity.
