NEVER STAY HERE
It is the worst place! While the apartment s are decent and nice size not bad, the management and maintenance alone will make you want to leave!!! Greta the property manager is an old miserable hag who has no customer service and all of the other lazy women in there are the worst. no one does their job! It is a joke and if you can avoid staying here at all costs I would! I wish I had moved out sooner!

Brittany Commons has a management Staff?
The staff is rude, lazy and obviously do not care about the resident's. I am still waiting, a year and a half later, to get a tear in the middle of a bedroom carpet repaired. And when I wrote a letter stating that the carpet tear could affect the safety of my family, the manager responded by telling me she would waive all early termination fees if I wanted to move. Great customer support...ask to have repairs made to your apartment but get provided with an early termination form.

Not quite luxury
While the unit it self was fine, I found the amminities to be difficult to use, the staff (with 1 or 2 excepptions) to be very rude and not easy to work with. The gated community part is a joke. The gates don't work half the time and when they do all you have to do is wait for someone to put a code in and you can follow behind. This amminitiy is a waste of time and money. When I was 9 1/2 months pregnant our oven/stove quite working on a Friday night. I called to ask them to come repair it and was told the soonest they could come was next Tuesday (so to get a warm meal I had to waddle my very uncomfortable self out to eat for 4 days in a row.) When they finally came, it turns out the oven had become unplugged and they were very annoyed with me and wanted to know why I had not crawled on the floor to see if it was plugged in. When I mentioned that I could not get off the floor by myself, they said I should have asked someone to come look. Our towl rack in the master bath was reattached at least 10 times before we gave up and just bought our own towel rack for the door. The pool was only open during business hours during the week so being able to use it was out of the question. There was a sever ant problem in the grass in front of our building that we found out about because our dogs had horrible ant bites all over their legs and tummies. I will say, however, the maintenance crew did a wonderfull job clearing snow this winter on the sidewalks. At the first of the spring when it was extremely hot our air conditioner was not working and our 7 month old son was sweating through his sheets every night. However, the most annoying part was how difficult it was to work with the person who answered the phone and some of the very annoying policy changes they like to make. On multiple occasions I would call with a question and be given a very rude and unhelpful answer. When I took time off from work and came in to speak with a manager I would get a different answer. Also, there was not a light in the spare bed room which was our nursery. We wanted to avoid lamps, so they could not be pulled over so we bought a ceiling light with our own money. When we called we were told they had to install it for insurance reasons at that time we were also told that they needed to also remove it. When we moved out we called to have it taken down and were told we were more than welcome to leave it or we could take it down our selfs. When I mentioned that the maintance man who had installed it had taken the cap for the ficture and that removing it would leave exposed wires they were not all that concerned, but I was reminded again that we were more than welcome to leave the very nice $50 light that we had purchased. We also found it very creepy that there was a tow truck hanging out in the parking lot around midnight at least 2-3 times a week and were furious when after coming home from the hospital after having our son we found a note on one of our cars that the car would be towed the next day if we did not put our new state registration stickers on the car. We didn't have them yet (they were mailed to our old address) so, we had to go wait at the DMV to get them so our car wouldn't be towed. I still don't understand how it is any of Brittany Commons business wether our registration sticker is a week past due. We chose this location because it was one of the few places that would let us do a short term lease and then go month to month (we have been trying to buy a short sale), so we didn't have a ton of options. If all you need is 4 walls and a safe place to live this location is fine, but if you want luxury and good customer services this is definately not the location!!!!! For what they charge I would expect much much more!!!

HORRIBLE Maintenance!!!!
I am a current resident here. I have been here since April 2010. Every-time I have had a maintenance emergency and call the number listed no one responds. They do not call to even say we will be out the next day. The first time they said it was an issue with the number. The second and third time they had no answer. I have a newborn and no A/C in 100 degree weather. The office has a horrible agent named Valerie who couldn't help anyone if she tried! She is rude and disrespectful, she will screen calls on the caller ID and then talk bad about you to other residents. She even tells prospects that she is the property manager. The only helpful people there are Danielle and Brandy and the Assistant Manager.

I enjoyed My Time Here
So, I read the other reports on Brittany Commons. I can say that everyone has a valid point in most cases, however, I still believe whole heartly that this is a great place to stay. I have been with Brittany Commons since April of 2007 and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I think the staff has always been very helpful and alert to my concerns or issues. I have followed the rules and regulations and actually like the structure offered. Children do play outside, but I guess I dont stay in an area that has many kids. But to be honest, if the kids are bothering people - it's not Brittany Commons that needs to step up - its the childs parents. They have worked with me on pets, issues with the gates, rent agreements, late payments, and so many more other things. If I wasnt purchasing a home, I would definitely remain at Brittany Commons. I live in the newer section of the complex near the kiddy pool and loved the convenience of using the facility if I had a neice or nephew visiting. I enjoy my quite little apartment and the ammenities they offer with an exercise room, and pool table, two pools, tennis courts. I loved my time here and would definitely recommend it to other folk.

For The Most Part...
Well...where do I start? My car was towed as well. I have a rental while my car is in the shop. Just got it last night and did not park in the guest parking. I walk out this morning and the car is gone. I don't have a problem with their rules...Rules are rules and if I would have parked in the guest parking, I wouldn't be writing this review. The problem I have is retrieving the car. Once I realized the car was towed, I tired finding out who towed it. I went through my lease and there's a nice section in there that discuss parking and towing but do not state who the tow company is. Then I tired calling the emergency maintenance number for Brittany...it just rolled back to the main number. So now I'm sitting here, at 7:12am waiting on the office to open so I can pay my fine and go to work. If you going to have a company driving around in the middle of the night towing cars, the least you can do is post their information somewhere on the property so we can retrieve our vehicle. We have been here for over 2 yrs and my wife kept telling me not to park without the sticker...I didn't believe that they would tow. Shame on me! But to not have a process in place to retrieve your vehicle other than waiting on the office to open is not acceptable. Shame on them! I will be moving out in September (God willing) and I can honest say Brittany Commons have been, for the most part, a very good place to live...but there are certain things such as towing and parking that I'm just not gonna miss. Take care!

great space, poor management
we got a great deal on a two bed, two bath - 1000/mo including water and pet fee. love the space. also, there is plenty of parking. also, the neighbors are great- friendly, lots of dogs and children. very safe neighborhood. however, the management is awful. any time we file a maintenance request, we have to re-request two or three times before anything is done.

Avoid If You Can
They are quick to get you signed up and will tell you anything they can, true or not, to get you locked into your lease. They would not work with us on a shorter term lease of 5 months and 28 days instead of the "Prorated" 6 months and 27 days. We had to pay an extra entire month! When we moved in the AC was leaking water all over the place and the molded baseboards were never replaced. When the kids are in school forget about going to the pool, it's only open for 3 hours in the late afternoon. The leasing agent told me that my carpet would be replaced when I moved out because people have allergies and I had a pet, yet when I moved out I still got a carpet cleaning charge that they rudely refused to take off. Also, expect kids to run around your building screaming at anytime.

Management Is Horrible
I have unfortunately lived in Brittany Commons for many years due to the lousy housing market in Northern Virginia. I have started to vent my feelings on my own site. Those wishing to read my experiences and contribute theirs, go to: http://www.brittanycommonssucks.com/

A Big Thank You
As we get ready to leave here for Germany, I would like to take this time to thank the personel for making this transition easier than I expected. You were more than gracious in working with my wife and I to first of all secure an apartment and then when the new orders came in you helped us get everything done. To the crews that keep our apartments in tip top shape, many kudoos to you. Like the postal service, rain, snow, sleet and hail did not stop you when you were needed. We will miss Brittany Commons, and hopefully you will have another home for us to come to in 18 months. By the way, to the property manager, thanks for a great bar-b-que last week. What great times!!

Exceptional Service!
I had looked at several apartments before looking at Britney Commons. I needed a place to get settled in quickly due to a recent separation. I came into the office met Valerie and was shown an apartment immediately. She took time to explain the facility layout, immenities, and rules of the complex. I moved in within 1 week and was happy from the moment I moved in. The unit was clean, quiet and complete with everything needed to live comfortable. To this day I am so happy I stumbled upon Britney Commons and hope to have a long term stay!

Very pleased
Over the past year my son and I had gone through a lot of changes and I needed to find a place to call home. I wanted to find a place where we could feel safe, that had a family-friendly environment, and which we would be content to stay in long-term. I am very pleased to say that Brittany Commons has met all of those needs and then some. The apartments are very clean, up-to-date, and quiet. Needed repairs have always been taken care of in a timely manner. The grounds have lots to offer from walking trails, to pools, to playgrounds. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful. They have promptly and adequately taken care of any needs or concerns. They are also very friendly and make you feel very much at home. I am very pleased to call BC my home and very content to raise my son here.

No so bad
I've lived here for two years and have been pretty happy. Parking is more than adequate, my neighbors are great and my grandchildren love to visit; pools, playgrounds, DVD lending library and lots of woods and fields to roam. This is a large place and errors are made, so what, who am I, or you, to judge.

Great Place to Raise a Family!!
I am a current resident going on 3 years in September. I moved into the 3rd phase of the complex in October of last year. When I lived in the first phase everything was steady, hardly any complaints. After moving into the third phase, which I was convinced was a good choice because of the size of the design of the apartments I soon realized how big of a mistake I made renewing a year lease with this complex. From the AC unit and Heating unit always needing repair, too the on-going rodent problem this place isn't anywhere close to what I see myself living in when my lease is set to renew. The biggest let down is the leasing representatives remark when I called the office about the mouse that dropped from the second to top shelf of my pantry and almost landed on my arm and ran under the stove. "ha ha wow, looks like you've got a little furry friend there huh?" I was then promised the manager would contact me personally since this has been on going after i requested they exterminate the whole building since they were coming from pre-existing holes in the walls and making shelter in my pantry. If you are searching for a WONDERFUL and COZY place to call home... trust me. THIS AIN'T THE PLACE FOR YOU... OR ME

The complex is getting ------. Nothing but loud music blaring from cars with 20 inch rims, and young men cruising the complex with hip-hop at ful volume. They have a gate, but it seems if the rif-raf mow lives inside the complex. Avoid.

GOING DOWN THE DRAIN!!!
I have lived at Brittany Commons for 3 years, and I have to say when my lease ends I will be moving on and out. It s really a shame; the office staff is absolutely scary. I m not sure if they know what day they are in half the time. They have gone through so many people in the office since the people I dealt with when I moved in. What they were thinking about getting rid of the polite, professional, gentleman who moved me and my family in, I have no idea he seemed to be the only one in the office who seemed to know what was going on. Hope your doing good Jason. What is really sad is the NEW Property Manager, is the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever met. The maintenance WELL read the other posts. I have had several problems in my apartment in the past 3 months. How many of them have been fixed with out having to call back and harass the staff ZERO! It s a shame at one point this was a great place to live, but it s not any longer. Please take my advice and really look elsewhere. I assure you that you will have problem after problem.

DO NOT MOVE TO BITTANY COMMONS
I DEFINITELY AGREE WITH the other review stating Brittany Commons sucks!! It seems that this is such a thuggish apt complex because the maintenance crew is always just standing around chatting with their unprofessional appearance and attitude!! The office manager is just as rude if not more!!! I could honestly not believe how rude she was on the phone when I had talked to her. Noise is very easily heard through the walls, and I had to complain about the toilet running over 4 times. The problem is still not fixed. Just giving my opinion and trying to save someone from getting into a lease and being miserable. Hope this helps! PS. THE GATES NEVER WORK!!!!!!! THEY ARE ALWAYS OPENED OR BROKEN.

Brittany Commons sucks....DO NOT MOVE THERE!!!!
I have lived at brittany commons for 6mo and I assure you it has been 6mo too long!! I have always lived in apt.s due to the fact that I am in the military and until I moved in here all my experiences were great, or at least good. In the short amount of time that I have lived here I have had 13 issues with my apt.(none have been resolved, mant. crew sucks) The office does not resolve anything and the grounds constantly look trashy. But the biggest reason I would urge anyone not to move here is their Property Manager and Mant.Supervisor. The mant.supervisor is a thug!!! He is extremely rude and encourages his team of mant. boys to be rude and dis-courteous to residence and has been know to buck up to resident's. Not to mention he and his crew have absolutely no idea what they are doing. As for the office manager, she is know to turn a blind eye to the innapropiate behavior by her staff and also when confronted with an issue by any given resident has been known to simply say "if you dont like, move" I am stuck in my lease and cant do anything about it but I urge anyone looking to rent an apt. to steer clear of Brittany Commons, they are truly a bunch of thugs over there and certainly do not care about resident's needs and concerns!!!!!!!!

The real scoop...
I m always biased when I read posts on WebPages like this. If someone has one bad experience they act like the rental staff shot their dog. People are whiny and they take things too personally. I have lived at Brittany Commons for about 6 months. I used to be in the military so I know what crappy housing is like. This place isn't so bad. Here's a list of the good and the bad.... Good Things... RENT - 1065 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom - nothing else needs to be said about that. MAINTENANCE - I've only put in 2 requests (one for a loose door lock and one for a broken bathroom fixture), but they were both fixed the day I called. I came home from work and they were fixed. KITCHEN - It has a stove and a refrigerator that work. What else to you want? PARKING - For residents (with tags) it's great. I have never had to park away from my building. STAFF - I've got no complaints with them. They haven't fu**ed up my rent. When I got a roommate they modified the lease, and had it back to me in less than a week. Everyone on here that complains about the staff is an idiot. I mean, why do you need to interact with the leasing staff anyway? COMPLEX - I've never been broken into. Sometimes I think this is like transient living though. People move in and out all the time. I could care less though. Bad Things... NOISE - My upstairs neighbor probably has 12 kids (and she's probably on welfare too, so the more kids the more money). Sometimes it sounds like horse races upstairs. I probably have to go upstairs about twice a month to tell her to give the kids some sedatives, and she yells at me. But I don't really have a problem doing that; it's quite humorous. PARKING - They towed my roommate s car. Which is pretty fu**ed up, but from Day 1 they said use visitor parking if you don't have tags. So it's really his fault, but it still sucked. GATE I think they should get rid of the gate system. It s broken sometimes, and if anyone wanted to sneak in they just have to wait for a resident to open it and drive in behind them. UTILITIES/CONSTRUCTION - I know it's not the apartment charging us for heating and electricity, but they have some pretty crappy insulation. And the bedrooms are 5 to 10 degrees colder than the living room. Neither here nor there... POOL - Never used it, but it looks nice. EXERCISE ROOM - It's okay. You won't become Mr. Universe here. COMMUNITY - I don't really interact with too many of my neighbors. I know that the staff puts on events (barbeque, Christmas, etc.). That doesn't really interest me so I don't go, but I guess they do try to build a sense of community. COPS - If you like Cops move here. There are probably 50 Cops in the entire complex. I'm guessing it helps keep out the riff-raff, but one of those pigs and I got in a shouting match because he said I was tailgating him, so he flashed his high beams on me. Then he used the "I'm a law enforcement officer" line. I told him where he could shove it and then he threatened to fight me. Just another loser on a power trip. I think people in today's world are lazy. They want everything done for them. They would rather call in a maintenance request to clean up a mold spot than take 5 minutes out of their ever-so-important life and clean it up themselves. I'm not renewing my lease here because I'm moving to Alexandria. If I was staying in the area I would renew my lease. For everyone who b**ches about the little inconveniences in life, try living in a Marine barracks for a year and then you'll realize how good you really have it.

The WORST place to live
Management does not care. Once you sign the lease, they forget what customer service is. Two days after I moved in, the apartment upstairs flooded and caused my apartment to flood as well. Management said they would change the carpet and repaint...one month...two months...three months...forget it. The walls in the bedroom were full of mold and they did not care. Another thing is that you can hear everything your neighbor does. Walls are terrible. People in the office don't care about pet policies. Poop is all over the place and they do nothing about it. I complained about it because I have a baby and it was terrible walking outside and making sure my baby did not step on poop. Management did what they do best...NOTHING! This is really the worst place I have ever lived in. PLEASE DO NOT rent at this place. I read the review that people in the office don't know their math and I totally agree. Even two months after leaving, they call me saying I owe them and then... "Oops, uh, we're sorry...uh...yeah you owe...uh oh no you don't...wait I'll have to call you back, I don't have my calculator!" Please DO NOT RENT THERE!!!!!

Renter Beware of Brittany Commons
3 month in, First had to move at last minute and was shown model due to apartment not available. Upon move date carpets were stain and notice bugs gather outside on pavement. Each day, I have to sweep them away, the only time someone else does it is when a new Rentee is comming, so they won't see how bad it can get. I'm sure this issue is only for 1st floor renters. 2nd month I was notified I had to pay water bill for first month along with second month rent and water bill charge, which I was not made aware of. Third month I notice rent check had not come from bank account and questioned this. They was notified from bank, but did not tell me that I made a mistake on check and left off the final $5 in the description column. The remedy was they can charge $35 for any returned check as it was returned for incorrect discription, and they charged an additional 10% for rent being late. So 2 months due $35 return check charge 10% late fee for second month. Can't wait for next month issue.

hot chicks at the pool
I gotta say there are some hotties at the pool. I see you all walking around in those suits.... yummy :) Just a single guy living quietly here. It's not a bad place to live. Honestly people its an apartment building with hundreds of apartments. There are bound to be stuff that goes wrong. I get PO'd from time to time but whatever. Of course I say that now because I am on Lexapro to calm my anger...lol... but I'm a teddy bear really and a tiger in the bedroom.
