Summary: It Sucks.

I am an actual tenant here, and I'm sick of the Fillmore Center's "hired gun PR" -------- postings trying to cover up the truth about this place. To put it straight--it SUCKS.

In the past few weeks there have been two fatal shootings in the neighborhood. True, this is not the Fillmore Center's fault, BUT it really sucks the way they gloss them over in the two preceding fake positive postings. C'mon FC, what idiot "tenant" would write these lame---- promotional infomercial postings? Its so obvious that they are your hired hands writing this --------.

Anyway, the truth: half the apartments are empty because people are turned off by the lies of the management here. The management had been covering up the fact that gangsters are breaking into apartments, and they did not mention a word about this until a tenant posted this fact on this site! Apparently, there have been dozens of break-ins over the past year, and all the FC told its tenants to do is leave their lights on, don't let strangers into the buildings, and don't answer knocks your doors. They open the note they left on my door with "there have been burglaries in the neighborhood" --you mean our buildings? The "courtesy patrol" are a bunch of keystone rent-a-cops who see nothing. There is no security here. Much of the problem are the subsidized thug tenants they allow to live here. They are the ones that let their gangster friends in to rob us!

So, FC, if you want to stop the exodus of tenants here, treat the existing ones better and provide real security in the property together with actually screening the people you allow to rent apartments here. This would be easier than having to constantly lie to sucker-in new ones.

Moving OUT/Theft in apt/Management does not CARE

Mt apt was broken in and I lost stuff worth thousand of dollars. A number of other apts on the same floor were broken in. Police and the security at the Fillmore center told me that there have been a number of thefts in the Fillmore apts in the last 3 weeks. The management NEVER BOTHERED about sending some notice to the residents to the careful. The SAME IRRESPONSIBLE management regularly sends pamphlets about farmer's market etc . There is no security in these apartments at all. People who are thinkg on moving in should ask one question from the leasing officer - Let me know the number of thefts in the buildings for month of May and June 2004 and what is the management doing about this. When I talked to the Property manager about this he said he was not aware of any breakin !!!!!

2 KILLINGS AND WE ARE OUT!

After the 2 fatal shootings in 2 weeks, it is obvious to me that despite the feeble efforts by property management, this will never be a safe place to live. I applaud the entrance of 2 national chains in the area, Starbucks & Footlocker (although the Starbucks does have more than its fair share of incompetents). But we can no longer ignore the gangs of unsupervised youth that roam the hallways or the grafitti that is not cleaned off the walls, after countless requests. It is also upsetting to turn the hallway corner and see someone turning all the doorknobs in the hallway (yes, we called the police, but of course, no one was caught). There are nice people who live here and work here, but I should not have to worry about my family's safety, when I go to work. I have rarely seen any on site security in the 18 months I have lived here. My wife and 9 month old son missed the Safeway shooting by 10 minutes. 10 minutes earlier and they could have been in the line of fire. The convenience of The Fillmore Center is not worth losing my family.

Well, another great day in SF. Tomorrow morning I'll take my free Fillmore Center canvas bag to the Fillmore Farmers Market across the street and load it up with goodies. Basement Betty probably won't be there: she says it's too expensive. Here's the deal. I pay 50 cents more for VB Farms Orgainic strawberries because, well, THEY TASTE LIKE STRAWBERRIES !!!! Not like the pinkish styrofoam ones she buys at Safeway. I buy green beans, zuchinni, carrots too. I prefer to be able to identify my fruits and veggies by taste rather than shape or color.

WOW !! COMCAST CABLE taking over this week. Digital and everything. It's about time. Now I'll be able to watch the Sharks games without going to one of the many great lounges within walking distance....or not.

Dates are set for the opening of the 4 new restaurants in the Fillmore Center. The 'lite jazz' supper club, just outside the front door of Tower 1 will have to have a regular table for me and the Mrs. I can crawl home. Cool !!

Needed the fart fan in one bath replaced last week. As usual, it was taken care of on the spot. Chuck is great. Always there when needed. Had a parking problen - Rental van got stuck just past the gate into the garage (2 inches too tall). Javiar came right over to help. Everyone is always there when needed.

Remember the old Queen tune "Another One Bites the Dust"? Well. it happened three blocks away a few weeks ago. A guy from Oakland with an extensive history of involvement with police chases led a group of SF's finest on a trip around the city, firing off shots at them at every opportunity. They cornered him 3 blocks from here and well, you know the rest. Could have been in any part of the city. At least no bystanders were hurt.

Stop by, take a look !! We are about to renew our lease for another year.

PENTHOUSE BOB

Harder than it has to be...

Great location. Opportunity to pay for parking. Low deposit. Seems like it should be good, but it's not.
The powers that be just couldn't make it any more difficult to live there. The office staff is unfriendly, barely competent. The woman who works the parking elicts groans from my out of town friends when they see her.
Sure, there's secure parking, but they won't let you park in the part of the garage that has access into the building. You're car's secure, but you'll get to brave the wilds of the 'hood.
Management promises improvements which never happen (like replacing defective windows).
And that rumour of killer mold? I don't know if it's killer, but it's definitely everywhere.
It's a great central location, but so inconvenient to actually live there.

Out on bail, suspect held woman, child at gunpoint, police say.

By J.K. Dineen | Staff Writer, San Francisco Examiner
Published on Friday, May 7, 2004

In the moments before he was shot and killed by police, Cammerin Boyd went on a seemingly crazed rampage, briefly holding a woman and a 4-year-old at gunpoint and later, as officers closed in on him, asking a gathered crowd to "help me kill them," police said.

Boyd, a 29-year-old amputee who lost his legs in a police chase 13 years ago, was killed Wednesday night in a Western Addition parking lot at Eddy and Buchanan streets after a car chase during which he fired at police at least twice.

The shooting attracted an angry crowd of neighbors who claimed that Boyd was attempting to surrender when he was hit with a single fatal bullet.

Police, who would not identify the officer who shot the suspect, defended the officers involved in the case on Thursday.

"All indications are that he [the officer] acted within policy," said police spokesman Dewayne Tully.

Cops began chasing Boyd at 8:05 p.m. after a woman flagged down two officers, telling them that she and a 4-year-old had been held at gunpoint while sitting in a parked car.

"The suspect used crude language and repeatedly told the woman she would be killed if she did not get into his car," Tully said.

The suspect sped off after the little girl jumped out of the car's back seat and ran, according to police. The woman said she had never seen Boyd before in her life.

After identifying Boyd as the suspect, cops chased him down Haight, Scott, Divisadero, Fell and Oak streets, and finally into the parking lot of Plaza East Apartments at Eddy and Buchanan streets, where he got out of the SUV he was driving.

A pistol was found in the driver's side door pocket of the SUV, according to police.
After Boyd stepped out of his car, he raised his hands, seemingly ready to surrender. But rather than give himself up, he sat on the running board of his car, ignored police orders, and then abruptly spun around, prompting police to fire, police said.

Boyd has had multiple gun arrests, making him a three-strikes candidate, according to police reports.

It was the second time in the past week that he had led police on a high-speed chase. At the time of Wednesday's incident, Boyd was out on $250,000 bail. Last Sunday in Oakland, police followed Boyd after spotting him driving 80 miles an hour on International Boulevard. As Boyd tore through East Oakland, police twice gave up on pursuing the Mercedes, which did not have any license plates.

"Because of the recklessness of his driving, those pursuits were canceled," said Oakland Deputy Chief Peter Dunbar.

After Oakland police caught up with Boyd and tried to arrest him, the suspect yelled, "Kill me! Kill me! You filthy white racists," according to the report. It took four officers and a 12-gauge "less than lethal" flexible baton gun to subdue him.

"I don't know what happened in San Francisco but he made it clear to our officers that he wanted the police to kill him," Dunbar said.

Boyd's mother is an attorney who has represented her son in a series of civil lawsuits against police and state prison officials, including one filed last July over a 2002 run-in with police. In that lawsuit, Boyd is alleging that Oakland police violated the Americans With Disabilities Act when they searched him, handcuffed him and left him stranded without access to his prosthetic legs.

"He said it was a violation of ADA requirement since he was disabled and police did not consider the disability in the search," said Karen Boyd, spokeswoman for the Oakland City Attorney.

At the crime scene Wednesday night, Marylon Boyd identified her son's body.
"The police have killed my son,'' Marylon Boyd said. "I want them held accountable.''

Police Association President Gary Delagnes said he was disappointed to see that community members automatically blamed police for the incident.

"To say that cops are frustrated would be an understatement," he said." When all the facts come forward, we're going to find out that this was a completely justified shooting."

Best Place to Live in the City!

We've been living at the Fillmore Center for over one and a half years now, and have lived in two different units in the complex. We LOVE it here! Each time our lease expires, and we look at other units in the City to move to, we realize how hard it is to find a clean, new, safe apartment with such amazing views in the City that takes dogs at the $1000-$1400 price range. To date, we have not been able to find any other apartment community for the price and quality of the Fillmore Center that 1) takes dogs, 2) provides a private, community "dog park" in courtyard, 3) has such amazing panoramic views of Pacific Heights, 4) has such responsive, caring and accomodating staff, 5) provides a jr. 1-bdrm apartment for only $1000 a month, 6) has a Starbucks one block away!, 7) has new appliances and high ceilings, and 8) has such easy and available street parking.

Our lease is about to expire again, and after 3 weeks of looking at about 40 other 1 bdrm units in the City, we've decided to stay at the Fillmore Center, and move into a 1 bdrm here. We love it here, and plan on living here for the foreseeable future.

The only complaint we have is that the elevators in the Tower buildings can be slow during the morning and evening commute hours, and a few times a month, only one elevator is available, because the other is being serviced or used to move in new tenants. When the elevators are taking a while to arrive, we usually just take the stairs.
Yo !! Basement Betty!! I can assure you that Bob is an actual resident here. We are nearing the end of our 2nd lease and will be renewing for another year.

Great staff, always willing to help. Any repairs or maitainence always done right away. I use the laundry room and no one has ever stolen my stuff. Maybe you should just take a book with you and RELAX while your waiting. Just like all laundry facilities I've ever seen, the signs say "don't leave your laundry unattended'

Got my utility bill 2 days ago. My electric was $61 so my total was less than $100 - again. Of course if I set around on my butt all day and watched TV and ate bon bons it would probably be higher.

As to kicking our dog to Safeway's roof, be careful. Bob is a retired hockey player and won't get physical, but I have no such reservation.

I'm glad that Giancarlo chump doesn't work there anymore.

The old renewal agent for the Fillmore Center was utterly useless. Here's a person who continuosly gave the Fillmore Center a bad name such as never following up on carpet cleanings after lease renewal and mailing out renewal notices 5 months in advance. Please note that not all Fillmore Center employees are worthless like him.

Anyway, the positives include free shuttle service to downtown (Willy's cool driver), concrete walls that keep the apartments warm, and proximity to Safeway/Blockbuster/Japantown. High-rise living is rare in San Francisco.

However, you must take into account that your rent is actually $25-$75 more per month than the sticker price since trash, water and sewer fees are not included. Also, a 60-day notice is required if you decide to move out of apartments here. The purpose of the extended notice period is to make it harder for you to move out. The elevators in the towers are always being serviced. And, of course, you're in a low-income neighborhood. You'll see what I'm talking about if you hang out in the neighborhood on Friday and Saturday nights. It's sad to say I am no longer affected by the sound of gunshots.

I´ll be looking for Penthouse Bob and probably place kick his mutt onto Safeway´s roof! He is obviously a product of the Fillmore Center´s PR campaign to hide the ugly truth about this place. As an actual resident who has lived here for nearly a year - I have to say it SUCKS!!

So I checked out the "Farmer´s Market" and saw mostly crummy produce that is priced higher than the Safeway next door. One booth told me their produce is organic, but did not have a certificate posted. The booth across from them told me they are lying! Nothing was being sold cheap, except for the free coffee and cake from the Fillmore Cafe that is now having to compete with the Starbucks they recently hammered in.

The things that will make your live miserable here include: no security, drug dealers living with legitimate "cousins", dog ---- everywhere, lousy cable service, people stealing laundry form the machines, dirty, noise at all hours form the "guest" tenants, $170 parking, indifferent management, constant fire alarms being pulled, high rents, high utility bills ("guests" add a lot of water/sewage to your bill), nasty nasty neighborhood full of gangsters.

I´m out of here as soon as my lease ends.

Oh well, the anonymity of the internet you know.

Went to the Jazz District neighborhood meeting the other nite. Met the new Mayor. He was there with a bunch of neighborhood dignitaries. No he doesn´t live at the Fillmore Center but not far away. He grew up in the neighborhood and is comiited to the rejuvination thats going on, as it has been for the past few years.

The Starbucks is opened!!!! Makes no sense to me to stand in a long line for the privelege of paying $3 for a yuppie cup-o-joe but I´m obviously alone in that thought. My wife loves the White Chocolate Mocha!! It can officially be declared a success since the pan handler that hangs out in front of Popeye´s Chiken and Biscuits opens his day on the Starbucks patio each morn. So we even have upscale beggers here!!

I was drawn to the Fillmore because of the revival that was to come. I´m a gracefully aging child of the 60´s who understands the significance of ´the hood´. The Fillmore Auditorium still stands and brings tomorrows big names in along with a few of today´s and yesterdays. John Lee Hookers soul still hangs around The Boom Boom Room on the corner. The remaining Greatful Dead contribute thier time and knowledge at a few local schools and churches, enriching us all.

Ressales Jazz Club across the street is opening a ´lite jazz´ piano bar and restaurant IN the Fillmore Center. Three others are opening in The Center as well: a Japanese eatery, an upscale Pastry shop - YUM- and Powells Place, a soul food kitchen (got to cater to the ´ethnic diversity´ of the area ya know) LUV true soul food. I miss Ms. Whites Soul Food Kitchen in Phoenix. I only get back there once a month these days. Yoshi´s IS comitted to the new Jazz Center when it gets built.

OH - more sirens (fire truck this time). Can´t do much about that: they are on the next corner, as is the SFPD. I would ask them to please not blast the sirens until they are a few blocks away but I don´t think they will find that reasonable. Oh well, it is city life. After all, this ain´t the ´burbs.

Took the pooch for a walk earlier. Didn´t see any crack dealers; no gun shots; wasn´t assaulted. Must be my lucky day. The young lady who was on her hands and knees dusting the moldings in the lobby did say hello, as did all the other Center employees I saw.

If you´re in the Center to look at the property, ask the leasing staff to find me. I had to laugh when I read the few glowing reviews about the dump called The Fillmore Center. Read those reviews for a good laugh yourself, as they were probably written by management desperately trying to keep the truth from unsuspecting renters.

The reviews look like they were transcribed from old Fillmore Center brochures. Can you imagine any renter actually saying "business is booming!"? Also, the clown who wrote about the Lion King was good for a hearty laugh. Oh, the Lion King! Hurray, members of the Lion King are living here! Whoop-de---------do! Now that the Lion King members are staying here, I can overlook that bum sleeping in his own filth right outside my front door! I can overlook the bullet holes in the lobby of 1510 Eddy! I can ignore the fire and police sirens that compete for attention round-the-clock! I can ignore the vandalism to my car in my overpriced garage space, the surly leasing agents, the dangerous neighborhood, the mailbox theft, the unhelpful maintenance department, and the surcharges for every little thing! The Lion King blinds me to the pain of living here! Hooray!

Let me tell you, when you announce at work "oh, I live in the Fillmore Center", everyone will cough politely and turn away. This place is a joke. The management only care about one thing: the allmighty dollar, and everything else, including your peace of mind, can go to Hell. The management´s worship of the dollar is almost comical as they jump through hoops to get you to sign the lease, then ignore you after you move in. Everything they do revolves around just how much money they can suck out of you. I´ve never seen such a bunch of self-involved, self-important, pompous, pretentious twits.

Don´t live here, you´ll regret it. It´s as bad as all the negative reviews say it is. What are ya, stupid?

STAY AWAY FROM FILLMORE CENTER!!!

There are four new restraunts/music venues coming into the Fillmore Center in the next few months. Also, it looks like they´re building a big multi-use complex at the corner of Eddy that will include condos and a San Francisco location of Yoshi´s Jazz Club. I´ll even go so far as to post my e-mail address: suetu@yahoo.com. If you´re sincere in your desire for apartment hunting info, I´ll be happy to share what I know. I don´t work here, I just rent here. (Oh, and if you´re just some crackpot who wants to flame me, I´ll block your e-mail address.)

Best of luck to apartment hunters!

Suetu

                                Hey kids!

Today we´re going to learn about corporate shills. Can you say "shill"? Good for you!

Let´s start with this statement:

"I’m one of those residents so suprised by these negative reviews."

If you liked the fillmore center, why would you bother coming to this site to defend it?

"I’ve lived at the Fillmore Center for a little over two years. I moved from another city, and I think finding this apartment was the single best thing that happened to me."

Really? The single best thing that happened to you was moving into an overpriced dump? How pathetic her life must be.

"First, they accepted my cat, which was a big thing to me."

Most apartments accept cats.

"Each one had a different layout. These apartments aren’t cut with the same cookie cutter."

Complete and utter --------.

"The unit I eventually chose has a huge, lovely balcony overlooking Fillmore Street. It’s especially wonderful during the Jazz Festival!"

And for hearing sirens, screaming people, buses, and getting clouds and clouds of dirt and exhaust in your apartment.

"And aside from how much I like my apartment, I LOVE this neighborhood! Firstly, I´m a white, female yuppie type, but I really value the cultural diversity of the neighborhood."

Notice the pathetic attempt to curry favor by "demonstrating" how "safe" it is for a single white woman to live here. By the way, "cultural diversity" means people screaming all night in the streets, urine in the elevators, funky low-riders cruising up and down Fillmore street blasting their rap music, filthy sidewalks, and, across the street, the scariest Safeway you´ve ever seen in your life. Here´s a tip, kids: any time someone mentions "cultural diversity", turn and run the other way as fast as you can.

"I have NEVER felt threatened or endangered in this neighborhood."

Obviously she never leaves her apartment.

"I have never witnessed a crime."

I never witnessed the rape in the garage. I guess that means it didn´t happen. The victim, the detective, and all those cops must have lied about it, I guess. Remember kids, if you don´t see it, it doesn´t exist!

"I don’t own a car, so parking isn’t a problem."

Duh!

"Visitors have managed to find street parking, and building management once hooked me up with a temporary garage space for a few days for a guest staying me."

BFD.

"(Management has always been friendly and helpful.)"

See kids, this is what a bald-faced lie looks like. You can hear lies like this coming from the lips of politicans, car salesmen, and the management of the Fillmore Center.

"I love the convenience of all the shops, and being the pretentious young yuppie I am, I love being able to walk up the street to the beautiful neighborhoods, restaurants, and window shopping of Pacific Heights, Cow Hollow, and the Marina--all of which I consider to be a part of my extended neighborhood."

Then why doesn´t she claim to live in the Marina? Hey, I live in New Orleans, because I consider it to be a part of my extended neighborhood. Really kids, this is priceless!!!

"Lastly, I love the different cool things that are just a part of being in the Fillmore neighborhood. The Jazz Fest and other street fairs, the free concerts, the farmers market, film screenings, etc."

Just be sure to wear your bulletproof vest and never, ever go through the neighborhood unaccompanied.

"I hope I don’t sound like some kind of corporate shill."

DING! DING! DING! DING! DING! Kids, here´s an example of the worst kind of reverse psychology, by saying that something isn´t what it really is. That´s like saying "George Bush isn´t the worst president in recent history."

So there you have it kids, a lesson in how a certain management company is so desperate to defend its tarnished image that they check this site every day and try to undo the damage the truthful renters have posted here.
To understand this review (and in turn understand this apartment complex) you must first read Bend Over... posted 3/11/04 and To the Moron who Posted the Review Below:, posted 11/01/03. Then ask yourselves three questions-

1.) Is there a correlation between these two reviews

2.) How can a retort be made to a review before the fact?

3.) What sort of person would make a retort to a review, try and hide it, and mask it with vulgar language as if it were a tenants?

Answer: The Fillmore Center Management Isnt Too Bright.

Perhaps they were too embarrassed to confront the comment straight on fearing its wittiness, Perhaps they thought the average apartment hunter would overlook any correlation, merely take the word of a nonexistant, "proud and agrravated" resident in their own review. Perhaps they got the date wrong,-- in an earily similar fashion when it comes to maintainence issues.

Whatever the case you can now see the caliber of organization you can expect to deal with at the Fillmore Center. Oh Yeah, by the way, you guys will have to lose a point under office staff rating for that one. (Lets all see if they erase their phony review to confuse everyone)

P.S. To the writer of that review... while I deeply admire your strong attention to mimetic deatil in your second to last paragraph plagerizing me, and ultimately Mastercard, there are people on your staff that I have met and respect.YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT ONE OF THEM (to recipricate). If you are truly concerned about the improvement of the complex and neighboorhood as you purport in your phony review perhaps you should quit.

That posting was totally by managment and I lived at the fillmore for 1 year and worked in Marin County. I am an attorney and my friend and I had our purse snatched on the first night we moved in. If you are with a big name company you wont like it here, luxury apartments cost more and there is a reason for that! Western Addition, that´s all I have to say, even the police will tell you that it is a ------!

                                        City living....

Beautiful apartment setting, they offer alot of amenities to the residents, and the area is in a rapid progressive state. I have to admit I was a little intimidated by the area, it was a little over whelming. However, I think that was due to the fact that I was new to the city and city living (very urban).

I love shopping here in the city and it only takes one bus ride to get downtown (ALL THE SHOPPING). There is a grocery store, panda express, subway, and blockbuster cross the stree (which I love). I don´t have to travel or get on ANY buses with groceries. There is also a starbucks opening across the street. I really like having all of these things at my disposal.

The only problem is parking, my car is not the greatest so I do not pay for the parking garage here (I would if I had a better car). There is a fair amount of parking around on the streets (you just have to look). As with parking anywhere in the city DO NOT leave anything in your car over night.

I have lived in the city for 4 years now, and it took me 2years to finally settle in. I am very settled at the fillmore center.

You Dont want to live here

I have lived here for over a year and I have to agree this place is a slum, and the surrounding area is the projects where we regularly hear gunshots and see cars getting broken into, even with the Police station 2 blocks from our unit.

Parking is ok if you want to pay an extra $150 or you can take your chances getting broken into on the street.(love those choices)

It is an expensive slum too. There are crack addicts, who smoke and deal in the stairwells and garages, you can smell thier foulness.

Some one even tried to break in one night while we were home. After getting security involved and talking to a manager here, nothing happened, leaving me to feel very insecure.

The apartments in themselves are not well cared for, the grounds are though - making me wonder why they are spending all our money on landscaping, security cameras and the ever revolving security team and not new apartment appliances, painting, carpeting or security that works.

If I had known then what I know now, I wouldnt be here. The few nice things are it is centrally located and easy to go shopping or catch the bus.

I checked out these apartments when I first moved to San Fran about 6 months ago. The apartments were clean and nice looking, but the staff was a mess. I was promised 12 months free parking, but after I signed my lease I was told I could only have 6 months free parking. The leasing agent acted as if he didn´t know what I was talking about. Be careful, sounds a little shady to me. I had to rip up my lease right in front of them. Also, make sure you check out the area at night before you jump to any decisions, it can be a little shady. I am glad they screwed up and I found a better apartment in pacific heights.

The Fillmore Center is an extremely nice place to live. My company is considering renting some corporate apartments here for our out of town clients and employees who are here often on business. I called last week to check out their availability and found that they have no available studios, one bedrooms or three bedrooms right now. They have 2 two bedrooms available only and that astonished me! When I inquired about the market and how they´re being affected by it, the agent informed me that this is supposed to be a slow time of year for most properties but that they´re bustling with activity. Members of the famous Cirque du Soleil used to live next door to me while their show was in town, but now that they´ve moved on, my new neighbors are dancers in the popular broadway Lion King show! It´s so exciting to have them as neighbors and they even comped me 2 opening night tickets!
How can you argue with the truth? The Fillmore Center is full for a reason. Even Broadway shows know it!
Keep up the good work! I love this place! :)

                                                I just don´t get it....

Before moving into the Fillmore Center I read all the negative comments here and figured it had to be just a few bad apples spoiling the whole bunch (I guess this is pretty common when it comes to a complex with over 1000 apts like the Fillmore Center) So My husband and I being the ever curious people that we are decided to see what all the fuss was about for ourselves. We went to the property unannounced and looked at several of the available apts. We found the leasing agent Darlene to be very helpful and friendly. I saw no evidence of urine in the elevators, out of control kids running about, or gangs in the area (I know the area is not the uppity Pac Heights or yuppie-like Marina, but we are just normal professionals who wanted a decent place to live that accepted our dog and us without putting us in the poorhouse or making us work more that one job to do it) I have to say we both love it here and intend on staying for a long long time. The location is convenient to shopping, dining, many good clubs and transportation, the apartment is really nice (we have an upper floor apartment with a fireplace and a nice view in Tower 2 for $1400 a month which is pretty good for San Francisco) We have many nice neighbors who say hello and hold the door or elevators for us, I haven´t heard any noise from any of my neighbors (with the exception of some repair work one evening which required drilling, and even that I barely heard) They even accepted our dog which was a huge selling point for me as nice apts that accept pets are tough to find in the city. I can´t speak for the parking lot issues as this is SF and we aren´t dumb enough to own a car with awesome public transportation and access to a city share car is available right here on the property. The only complaint I CAN agree with is the crummy cable they have here. The cable co. expects you to pay a fortune for only 40 channels which I think is a total ripoff. So we are surviving fine without it since the reception in our building is good for all the networks and upn, fox, WB etc (I think we get like 12 channels in all) and Blockbuster is right across the street and they have this freedom pass thing which is unlimited rentals for only $25 a month which is much less than the cable people want for those few channels! I decided to post this here since the place was getting such a bad rap on this site and I am very happy here....I just don´t get it!!

How will I ever live without it????

I guess I´ll just have to frequent one of the 3 REAL pizza places within a block of here. The Pizza Hut (their pizza sucks) was a delivery only store and never busy. Maybe that had to do with the Extreme Pizza, Pizza Inferno or Mozzarella de Buffalo just down the street. All 3 are full service places with primo pizza and cold adult beverages. All 3 deliver. Oh, almost forgot the Pasta Pomodoro around the corner.

So I won´t miss Pizza Hut!!! The space is now being remodeled for a new restaurant. Panda Express just opened at the other end of the building. They obviously didn´t consult the 1-7 Pizza Hut fan. Nor did Starbucks!!!! The Happy Donuts store accross the street from Panda closed (dry, stale donuts) and that space is being remodeled for a new Starbucks. Yeah, they have built an empire on opening in ´crime infested ------´s´.

So my "in-the-know friends" enjoy visiting my place, a 17th floor penthouse with great views and 2 balconies. My out of town guests appreciate the 2 br furnished condo available on a daily basis just below me. And all appreciate the neighborhood restaurants, jazz and blues clubs, theaters and small businesses.

I will agree with one thing he/she said: the cable sucks.
