DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I can't imagine anyone willing moving into this apartment any longer. Nothing works, it is infested with rats and cockroaches. The staff does not care at all and actually hide from residents to avoid problems like sewage leaking. The management is fully aware of a variety of illegal activities that go on here and they do nothing about them. Their "on site" security is a patrolman who used to drive through once a night on his cell phone. If I did not have a lease there is no way I would live here, I am embarassed to tell people where I live! Perhaps you think I am a resident with a grudge, which I am, but if you have any doubts that what I am saying is the truth you can see for yourself by checking the Channel Four news broadcast from 12/6. That should give you a pretty good idea of who lives here. Don't be fooled!

Worst Management EVER!!!!! No heat/hot water in winter, no AC in summer!!
I am currently a resident here and the apt is nice, but the mgmt is HORRIBLE!!! Every single time it snows, the hot water and heat goes out, and in the summer the AC doesn't work. It takes them days to fix the heat and weeks to fix the AC!!! I kid you not!! We've had 3 snowstorms so far this season and this has happened 3 times!!!! Its 18 degrees out and no hot water or heat!!! There are elderly people and babies who live here!!! This is like a slum tenement! The mgmt is completely unresponsive!! DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! I can't wait for my lease to be up to get the Hell out of this nightmare!!!! I just wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I moved in!!!

Nasty and Horrible!
Absoutley do not move here! This place is so horrible! It is beyond dirty and disqusting! There is trash everywhere, the elevators are trashed and full of grafitti, the lobby and hallways smell like urine and trash, and not mention the management is a whole other story. They never fix anything, we have put in service requests for over a year and nothing has ever been done. We have sent more than several requests and everytime we call to talk to the apartment manager she is not available and we are told she will call us back, which she never does. The carpet has had gross stains seeping up through it in our apartment, there was a rat in our wall and we have cockroaches!!! They only care about money and are quick to charge you if your rent it late, which is very conveinent for them as there is no rent drop box and you can only drop it by when they are there during the day. Not really conveinent when most of us work all day long. We lived in one building and the hot water went out so they moved us to another and told us our lease would remain the same, but come to find out they screwed us over and our now trying to say we signed up for another two years here! We are trying to get out, and it's hard to even come home at night knowing we live in such a horrible disqusting place. We are even looking into legal help. Whatever you do, do not move here!!

this place is a dump....keep looking.
Before you consider moving here....I've been here for 10 years and it has gone downhill ever since Mary, the cool manager, left. The bldg I live in is dirty, the elevators are disgusting..when they work, the laundry room is always dirty and things always seem to be broken, the lobby is dirty and always has someone's old clothes and trash laying in the corner, the carpets in the hallways are disgusting and they never clean them, they've recently nailed shut the windows in the stairwells so now I feel like I'm in prison, the air conditioning is broken every other day, the hot water goes out all the time, the doors to the bldg are always broken and they never fix them, but they claim to have "secure" bldgs. The parking lot always has broken glass, dirty diapers and trash laying around because no one cleans it. The tennis court is a joke.. too many weeds on the court to even play. Their "courtesy patrol" never responds to the calls..so you'd better hope you never need them with all of the pot smoking, stereo blasters they move in and don't do anything about when you're trying to sleep at midnight. You will never hear from the mgmnt folks (we had a manager years ago that used to check on her tenants every now and then to see if everything was going ok and to see what needed to be done in the bldg...I miss her!)unless they are missing money from you. I had high hopes when the new mgnt took over this year but so far they are the same as the old losers if not worse. This place is a dump and I can't wait until my lease it up! They will overcharge you for rent considering what you get in return is trash, dirt, bugs, broken equipment and a bldg that needs to be condemned. You might as well move to a better neighborhood for the amount they will charge you. OHHH and make copies of everything you send to them,, service requests, termination notices, any communication you make with them. They screwed my mom out of $600 because they said they never got a termination letter from her and I was with her when she walked in and handed it to them!!! They are money hungry, and lazy and could care less about their tenants..

New Management is not understanding
My husband and I have lived here since September 2008. Unfortunately we lost our jobs in May 2009. The new management were not willing to work with us concerning the rental agreement. We had to move out and relocate to another state. We were told we had to pay 1,200 rent for two months plus another 1,500 for breaking the lease!! (Or it could go to court) Mind you we have seen many notices on peoples doors who are being evicted!! I am so upset that some of the fees could not be waived due to the situation. I hope this company goes under because being money hungry will get you nowhere!!!!

Keep looking but not here!!!!!
Seriously, this place is the biggest dump. Bugs, mice, BIG DOGS with big mess's too. The elevators are embaressing if you have guests coming over. Since I moved in here I quit having friends over except in the summer when we can just stay at the pool which was always kept up at least last year anyway... The management in the office is a joke extremly unprofessional and last friday night I had a water leak called the emergency # and was never responded to until hours later. I've seen a "new" maintenance person in the office but never working like the other guys are. The only reason I know this person is a maintenance worker is because she is yelling at the maintenance staff so all the residents can hear... All I know is that we use to have 3 guys that were always running around getting things done now I have'nt seen one of them for a couple of weeks and this one yelling at the other guys very unprofessional..... Just keep looking elsewhere I'm just counting the months to get the H out of here.Oh plan on going elsewhere to do your laundry too they are constantly broke down..

I too hate this place!!
I thought that this would be a great place to live....it's not. There are a lot of questionable characters here and I have had several run ins with people trashing our porch because we live on the bottom and managment does nothing about it. Also, the maintance people take at least 3 days to show up to fix anything. People are stomping up and down the stairs all hours of the night. There are some gangbangers that hang out in one of the workout rooms. And to top it all off I was here for the bed bugs as well and got the less than 48 hours notice to basically move practically everything. My parents thankfully helped me. Between me and my husband having to work in order to pay the rent here, aparently they thought that was enough notice for people to take time off to rearange their entire aparments. And put my dog somewhere else in the middle of the day! I hate it here and I can't wait to move. A lot of the people who live here really don't seem that bad. It's the few and far between that make it horrible for the rest of us. And they have never fixed the dryers in our building for over a year now only two dryers actually heat up. So get in line folks cause it'll be awhile.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible!!!
I just received a notice on my door when I got home Tonight about BEDBUGS and COCKROACHES and how by Thursday (tonight being Tuesday, actually early Wednesday morning) at 11 am I need to: *Remove all bedding materials, slip covers, pillows and throws from mattresses as well as upholstered furniture (couches and chairs). Seal in a plastic bag until you reach the laundry facility to prevent spreading. *Wash in hot soapy water. If items can not be cleaned right away, keep in plastic bag until such time to prevent infestation from spreading. *Remove and Wash any bedding or clothes stored beneath beds, or in dressers where bed bugs are discovered. *Clear all floors of loose items (toys, books, trash, etc) including closets and interior storage areas. Debris will interfere with the inspection and treatment * Vacuum upholstered furniture and entire carpet, especially the edges and baseboards where bed bugs prefer to hide. Seal the vacuum bag in a plastic and immediately DISCARD in an outside trash bin. For bag less uprights, dump contents into a plastic bag and discard in an outside trash bin. Vacuum daily for one week after treatment! * MOVE all furniture and bed frames 18" from the wall and LEAN mattresses and box springs against the wall (Obviously they don't know I am a single young female who lives alone!!!) *Remove all items from cabinets and counter tops. Place these items either on a table or on the floor and cover with a plastic or cloth sheet.. Food items that are open should be placed in the refrigerator if possible. *Empty all cabinets from bathroom and cover as you did in kitchen. Vacate residence for 4-6 hours after treatment and leave windows open for at least a half hour after returning. ****There is a $45 fee for apartments not prepared for treatment. *** I have one day to prepare and I work 2 jobs and will only be home in the wee hours of the night to prepare... this seems like a ton of work for such short notice!!!!! And I know I don't even have the bugs in my unit!!! I ended up walking through all floors and all the hallways of my building tonight and found the notice on many doors still...either they haven't been home yet or just ignored it for the time being. I eventually wandered on to the other buildings in the complex and found notes from Tenants about how the problem hasn't been fixed and how little time they had to prepare as well. I also found a notice on a door, in another building, that is obviously vacant, from over 2 weeks ago about them spraying there. So that means the complex has been dealing with this problem for OVER 2 WEEKS in other buildings and is only giving my building a not even 2 days notice!!!! I live alone and have a lot of clothes, dishes, furniture, etc., etc. So I now have about 30 hours, including working both my jobs all day an night tomorrow, to try to basically pack myself up and move my furniture around when some one in the complex has bugs, not me, or I will be charged for it. I may as well just move out if I have to pack everything up any ways!!! Oh but then they get you on breaking a lease, that's right. I am so happy I renewed my lease here, so I wouldn't have to pack up and move, oh wait, I have to PACK UP and STAY now! The management sucks here....I would never recommend living here, plus there is only a half a drawer (if you'd even call it that) in the kitchen that can't even fit silverware in it!! So is the management going to supply me with plastic bags to bag every thing up in and plastic sheets for me to cover up all the rest? I don't think so! Are they going to give me all the quarters I need to wash my ENTIRE wardrobe including sheets and bedding after they spray harsh chemicals into my apartment because someone in one/all 6 buildings has had bed bugs? I don't think so!!! Believe me I don't want the bugs and will do everything I can to prevent them, but who's to say that when they come in to inspect my apartment, they won't carry the little beasts on them selves from walking from one unit to the next??? Maybe that's why all the buildings are being affected...all the inspectors are carrying them on their clothes from the infested apartments into the non-infested. It seems they rent to any one here, as I see eviction notices monthly on apartments all around me.. I have never lived in a place like this and hopefully will never again. I absolutely do not recommend it!!!!

Hurrible
When we moved in 2004, management was awasome!!! Mary was taking care of everyone. She did everything to make customer happy. Summer, when we had very hot weather and A/C was down, she brought Fan herself for my wife (my wife was pregnant). NOW it is HORRIBLE!!!! Management changed and customer treatment went down to 0 zero! I would'nt recommend to anyone move here. Bed bugs, cucaracha, worms.... etc.! and no treatment for it. they once tried to do it, when we came home, we saw that they DID NOT do anything, although they asked RUDELY out of appartment with kids who had to have lunch and nap! They put note that they will come at 11am but came 1:30 pm! very very mean management! will leave this appartmant as soon as possible! People have parties at night, management dont care about it! And out property is not safety anymore!

Cant wait to leave even though I hate to move.
Mary was the Manager when I moved in 2 years ago, Awesome! Great Manager. NOW it is horrible. After the property sold to the new owner and management company things spiraled down and out of control. The property had just renovated common areas and they were beautiful. New management rented to any warm body that showed up. Residents now have ruined the renovation, "gang graffiti and Tagging" all over in the common areas, elevators. Trash is left in the lobby all the time for days on end. I have requested a trashcan for the lobby 4 times.... no trash can yet. One of two elevators has been broken for weeks now. Loud music all night long, rude neighbors, 2 people move in 10 more relatives follow, nothing is done. Resident let their kids scream and run up and down the common halls. Dirty diapers beer bottles and broken furniture left in the halls and parking lots. There are many broken down vehicles and people working on them even though it s against the policies. Security doors are not working most of the time. Laundry room is filthy all the time. The grounds are covered with trash and Dog "mess and trash. Residents swim in the pool in their dirty construction working clothes or just strip down to underwear. The Rent is high and with the water, sewer, trash charges and Public service they are not in the Market value, Look further you will be happier.

I am so shocked to read this review, because right at about the same time, I discovered bed bugs in my apartment too!!! I do not know if they are gone yet, since it has only been two weeks, but my advice is, do not move here...It is bad and only getting worse. The rains caused a leak in my apartment. I called 3 times to have them send somebody. When he eventually came, he brought me a bucket (yes, that is right) and told me that there was nothing they could do, because all the repairmen were busy. That was Saturday. It is now Tuesday night and despite two more calls, one to the apartment manager, nothing has been done. I still have a gaping hole in my ceiling. And to make matters worse, when the repair guy brought me a bucket, he said to be careful with ceiling stuff because it contained asbestos!!!! There is trash everywhere, the hallways are dirty and smell, they let people play music and fight all night long. These despite having a 10pm silence rule and having security on site. There is dog poop all over because they do not enforce the pick up after your dog rule. All I can say is, this is not the place you want to be. If you would like to move here, please do not. I do not usually give such negative feedback, but I thought others should know. If you come to see the apartments, ask to see other buildings besides the one model that they are showing you. Then you will see the real Lodge at Aspen Grove. Bottom line: Dog poop, bedbugs, management that does not care about residents. Please do not move here.

BED BUGS!
When I first moved in last summer it was a great place in a perfect location. Huge balcony with an even bigger kitchen. But after a few months I had a neighbor blasting Celine Dion at 1 in the morning. When my boyfriend told her to quiet down she came to my apartment the next week (after playing more Celine Dion and another neighbor banged on her door to quiet down) and told me she would call the cops on me if I told her to be quiet. So she was a crazy neighbor and she got evicted YAH! But then right after I signed a 9 month lease and payed the rent increase I got bed bugs. After 4 (count em 4!) months of these little vampires biting me I told the managment that I was calling a REAL exterminator. My exterminator (on my dollar!) fixed the problem in one spray. Their exterminator took 3 sprays and did nothing...instead I had to throw away my bed and couch. And he harassed me when he saw that I had a new exterminator, and told me I would have to leave the apartment naked in order to get rid of them. Completely rude and unprofessional. The bugs were so bad I couldn't sleep in the apartment I slept on the balcony. On top of the bed bugs were cock roaches and worms. GROSS! I can not wait to move far far away from this place and never have to deal with bugs like that again!

Last resort
When I first moved in, I couldn't believe how lucky I was! Mary was great! She was friendly, always acknowledged the tenants, and would even come and hang out with her kids sometimes, which made you feel like she had pride in her complex. Now, NOT SO MUCH! The complex has gone downhill quickly. I will agree that maintenance is fairly responsive when you have a problem, but if a big problem arises, don't expect to see results quickly. We have lived without hot water (during the winter), no air conditioning (in 90 plus weather), and a beautiful courtyard that is now composed of brown grass. Because of the age of the building, different systems go down, which is expected, and the tenants sometimes wait days for them to be fixed. The buildings are junky and tend to smell often. The location is nice because the complex is close to downtown, Cherry Creek, Lowry, and not more than 30 minutes from other areas which makes it convenient. The size of the apartment is adequate with decent closets, however keep in mind there is no storage space in the apartments or on site.

There are nicer places for the same money
I've lived at The Lodge for a few years, and I liked it okay at first. But I'm getting tired of things not working properly and the junky environment. Maintenance does come pretty quickly when you call for repair (in my experience), and they are pleasant. But it's an old building, with an old heating and air conditioning system, old electrical, old plumbing. There's only so much they can do. Every apartment community has its good points and bad. This apartment complex is definitely not the worst place I've lived, nor is it the nicest. I'm listing the best and worst aspects, in my experience. Hope you find it useful. The Worst: 1. Old and junky HVAC system. It's usually a pleasant temperature inside my apartment, but on days when it's over 90 degrees, the air conditioner will only take it down to about 75 degrees, and that's if I let it run constantly. (And no matter where you put your bed, the air conditioning blows straight at your head.) In the spring, you can't use the air conditioning until the manager turns the heat off in the building. That means in the spring (and fall), when it's cold at night but 80 degrees in the daytime, only heat is available, not the A/C. (This probably won't bother people who love hot weather.) Your heating bill is a portion of all the heat used in the building. So even if you don't use a lot of heat, you still pay for it. 2. The insides of the elevators have been under construction for about 6 months, and the new management seems uninterested in repairing them. Bare construction materials cover the walls, and people have written graffitti. Sometimes the lights are half out, and they flicker. It's an eyesore, and it's embarrassing to have friends over. My friend said the elevator is "really scary, like you're in a horror movie." 3. Laundry room. The washers and dryers are not being maintained as well as they used to be, especially on weekends. The washers are often dirty (pet hair, detergent spills, crud). A year ago, I could dry a load of clothes in 45 minutes; now it can take up to 1 hour and 20 minutes (which costs twice as much). There aren't that many washers and dryers for the building, so about 40% of the time, you have to wait for machines to become available. 4. All the light fixtures in the apartment are wired to take only 40-watt bulbs. Combine that with the very low ceilings, and you've got a dark, cave-like atmosphere. (The model apartment they show prospective tenants has much higher ceilings.) 5. The kitchens seem large because of the generous floor space, but there is not nearly enough cabinet space. There is only one cabinet for pots and pans, and one drawer for utensils. If you cook a lot, my advice is to take a close look in the kitchen and plan where you will put your stuff before you move in here. The Best: 1. Wood-burning fireplaces are really nice, and the stone mantle is charming. 2. The balconies are gigantic! 3. My apartment is really quiet. Others have written about noise problems, but I've been lucky and haven't had that problem (except the occasional balcony party, which you'll get in any apartment that has balconies). 4. Ethnic diversity in the apartment complex and the neighborhood. If you like ethnic diversity, you are likely to enjoy that aspect of this community. If you prefer to live among mostly American white people, then this community is not for you. 5. Plenty of closet space. 6. Close to many stores, restaurants, and a movie theater. Everything you need is within about 10 blocks of this complex, which makes it really easy to run errands and shop. Plus it's close to I-25. And it's close to the Cherry Creek bike path. 7. Large, pretty courtyard. You can sit out on your balcony after work and get a little dose of the outdoors.

Breaking the Law
We moved from this place on March 30, 2009. According to Colorado State Law, the complex is required to provide a written statement showing what repairs our security deposit was spent on, and the remainder of our deposit should be returned to us within 60 days of moving out. We've been out for over 80 days now, and have heard nothing from them. We've contacted them, but have had no response and will probably have to pursue legal action to get our deposit back.

what a great apartment
I'm one of the resident who lives on this property. I have lived here for about 2 months and recieved the most respect from this property. I love the staff. When I ask something to be fixed it is done right away. The manager is the most nicest person I ever met in my life. She is always treating me with respect. The whole staff is great Jerry is the BOMB and the new leasing girl Samantha is learning fast and good. One time I asked them to repair my blinds it was completed in 1 hour. I NEVER had any apartment community do this for me before. I love the staff for there hard work and effort to please the community and make sure things are on the top of top!! So if you ask me I would recommend everyone I know to live here. They will take good care of you!!

Well I'm Quite Pleased Myself...
I moved into the Lodge in Feb. of this year. I have honestly been very impressed with Mary and the other Lodge/A.G. staffers. I'm just gonna keep it real here. You have to be careful with these reviews because a disgruntled tenant (who didn't do what they were supposed to do) can write anything. And then people who are happy and satisfied aren't as quick to stop in to comment on their experience. Furthermore, everybody's expectations are different based on their background, past experiences, personal needs, etc., etc. If you've lived in the suburbs all your life, you might not be able to adapt to urban dwellings, but that doesn't make a complex bad because there are the occasional "city" noises. If you're accustomed to an all-white neighborhood, well, then you may not be able to adapt where there are all different races here. But I must say that all the people I've met seem really cool. It seems to be mostly working-class people, young professionals, students, young families and also some older folk.

Now! Having said all that, I must say that I initially came to the Lodge with a raised eyebrow. I tend to prefer newer buildings, so I knew I was gonna have to get past that. I was also initially bothered by seeing furniture lingering behind the dumpsters for a few days. It was clearly not a Country Club environment, but I figured I'd give it a chance. The complex is really close to work for me, and many of the other options in the area were too pricey or waaaay dumpy. I'm also used to having a W/D in my home, but at the price they were offering, I quickly got over that too! The laundry facility is right down on the bottom floor and it's always clean with working machines.

Right from the get-go, the staff was very warm. Jerry helped me and he was very friendly, knowledgeable and competent in answering all my questions. I looooove the spacious units, the huge eat-in kitchens, the unique wood-burning fireplaces, and the abundance of closet space is awesome! I hate hearing people trampling overhead, so I was concerned about not being on the top floor. But he let me know that there's a layer of concrete between the floors...and this has been a God-send! This is the point where I've learned to appreciate having moved into an older building! I can get off the elevator to go into my apartment and hear music while I'm in the hallway, but the minute I shut my apt. door, I don't hear a thing. Newer buildings tend to have much thinner walls and flooring, and I would no doubt have been unnerved by now.

As I customarily do, I stopped a few residents and asking them how they liked it there. One girl told me she really liked it and has just renewed her lease. An older lady across the hall from me told me she'd been there for years. A good word straight from the horses mouth always works for me! The office/clubhouse area is newly remodeled and VERY nice, the fitness centers and adjoining bathrooms are also newly done and always clean. And the equipment actually works! They've just done some upgrades to the buildings in the common areas (halls/entryways), like new lighting, new tile and carpeting and it's very nice! These kinds of things tell me that they're conscientious about the upkeep of the place and that says a lot. Many complexes wouldn't have bothered to make those extra upgrades. And I see the landscapers out there on a regular basis, maintaining the grounds.

Every time I've had to call with maintenance requests, they've come the same day or the next day. And even the furniture at the dumpsters seems to get moved a lot quicker now. Most of the things that I don't like have nothing to do with the staff and their management. It's stuff like um, residents who insist on bringing shopping carts home from surrounding stores and leaving them in the building foyers and in the hallways. But then again, the carts have come in handy when I've moved something heavy into my apartment. (Shhhhh...) LOL! Besides, I've noticed that the maintenance guys are pretty efficient and quick about moving those off the property. The one thing I would change if I were managing is to improve the lighting on the grounds. If I walking from the fitness center to my apartment at dusk or dark, the path is not as well lit as it could be. The parking lot lighting is sufficient, I guess, but some additional, brighter lighting would certainly improve things.

So overall, I've been extremely pleased. The staff has far exceeded my expectations, and well, I still keep putting off sending them a thank you note to say so. Unless you're looking for an elite, Chateau Elan-type environment, I think you'd be more than satisfied here. And of course, the most important thing, is the price. I just didn't think I'd beat the price for everything they offer and the proximity to work, expressways, dining, shopping, etc. Feel free to email with any questions: cielle72@yahoo.com.

It's a fair place to live
While not the ritz I believe the lodge at aspen grove is a good place to live for single people or small familys. the one bedroom apt is small at best but adiquate for a single or married tennant. Our maintance has been taken care of in a timey manner. The office staff has been curtious and friendly to work with. For the price its a nice community and good place to live. I would and have recomended the lodge for friends and family.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!
in the 4 months i lived there myself, my boyfriend, and my friends have gotten stuck in the elevator over 6 times. one time i was stuck in there for 45min. they are constantly doing construction and there is ALWAYS noise from them doing so. there were a number of cars broken into and looted. one of which was a friend of mines. if you do happen to NOT listen to the advice of those of us who have lived there. make sure you check that everything in your apartment is intact and working...oh and most the apartments only have one drawer in the kitchen.

Great place to live
I moved in to the Lodge at Aspen Grove in January of this year and just renewed my lease. I have really enjoyed living here and encourage those of you that are reading this web site to give this place a chance. I have been impressed with the office and maintenance people. They work hard.

HELL NO
I lived on the bottom floor, ground level, and there were bugs-spiders, weird bugs, etc. i never stayed there. they sprayed. i complained so much, but the bugs would be under my couch, etc. It made my skin crawl, so i had to bounce.

If i lived on a higher floor, i don't think i would have had that problem. Also, the ceiling leaked- water just start pouring down. They always shut off the water, the air-which trust me doesn't work, the electricity, somehting always was shut off for a day or two while they were fixing things. I just stayed elsewhere.

A suspenseful journey of horror
In all honesty I've never felt such of feeling of unease in any place i've ever resided. Drug dealers, police and fire deptartment vehicles constant passing by, sirens blazing, and break-in attempts. This is not a complex for the faint of heart. The inside of the buildings smells like stale marijuana resin, and the cleanup before move-in is appalling. I found cigarette butts in my heater of a brand no longer manufactured, and that was just the first day. Maintenance opted to paint the doors while they were closed, so my first task while moving in the to kick in every entry in the apartment. The grout in the shower was also not cleaned, retaining a nice dark-brown color. MY guess is that it was never cleaned due the fact i;ve tried every industrial strength product manufactured, to no avail. Various species of insects occupy the water faucets. The residency is generally loud and inconsiderate of other tenants. I personally had experience a failed break-in attempt. If you live here, I recommend buying a good flashlight and the best weapon you can afford... be prepared...
