UM, I think NOT.
DONT RENT HERE!!!!! I have the largest 1 bedroom apartment, after a few weeks at being here I noticed that the ceilings are very low, making the apartment seem pretty small, you can barely play your music without having someone call the cops on you. The neiborhood is not all that either, you constantly hear sirens and people having arguements on the streets.(Even though we are located near a great cherry creek community, the couple of blocks we are near are real big for drugs!!!) I see transactions all the time!!! I recommend you look around alittle more, I guarantee you can find something cheaper and nicer then The Lodge at Aspen Grove.

You get what you pay for
The rent at this complex is low so you can't expect much. Nonetheless, do not rent an apartment here. The maintenance is truly awful. The stairways and hallways were always disgusting. Windows and lights broken and missing. A door off its hinges. My complaints only resulted in the most superficial of fixes. At one point my power went out. The maintenance people said it was the power company, the power company said it was the apartment complex. After looking into it, I discovered that maintenance had accidently shut off my power rather than the one next to me which they had intended to shut off. It took me bitching and complaining for hours to get my power back on. The tennis courts were cracked, there was no net and the residents just put there dogs in the enclosure and let them crap on the court. If you can get the rent for less than $300, go for it, otherwise stay away.

Fairly nice but some problems
I've lived there for about 2 years and would have to agree with the maintenance issues mentioned throughout this discussion. In the past 3 months, I've had no water, no hot water, no AC on a 90 degree day (due to deferred maintenance on the broiler) and currently have AC that doesn't cool below 80. It took 2-3 weeks for carpet to be replaced down the hallway, so we were left walking on the bare wood. They take forever to switch over from heat to air, which means you are paying for gas even though your windows are wide open during April and May to keep from suffocating in the heat that constantly is bubbling from the heater. I would avoid living in Building A (where I live) because of these issues.

The apartment itself is decent in size. The large kitchen is great for a party, but difficult for cooking in because there isn't any storage space for utensils or pots & pans. The rental price isn't bad, but there are probably some cheaper places with better maintenance. I wouldn't want to live on the street/parking side of the buildings either, since many of the tenants are really loud. Also, the quality of people moving in over the past year has gone way down - which is apparent by the quantity of late rent and eviction notices posted on doors at the beginning of the month. Also, the parking lot is a fairly sketchy place. My car was stolen in March 2004 and there have been several other car break-ins since then. I'd suggest investing in a Club if you live here (or upping your car insurance to have a lower deductable).

Walls are thin, so you can hear your neighbors barking dog or loud music like it's coming from your own apartment.

Overall, its not bad compared to some other places I've lived. The green space between the buildings in nice to look out on from my balcony. Indoor & outdoor pools are ok, but the outdoor pool doesn't have very long hours which means I rarely get to use it. The basketball court doesn't have hoops.

If you have problems, call the manager!
I have lived at the Lodge for a little over a year now, and I must say I am concerned about the types of people that live here. I mean, if you are having a problem with maintenance or anything, you should call the office! Everyone in the office is always respectful and courteous as long as you show them the same. Am I surrounded by people that can not form words except to down those around them? I mean, we are all human and sometimes make mistakes. But over all, the Lodge is a good place to live.
I hope that those that read this message will give them a chance.
Terrible
When I first moved there back in Feb of 99, the management was great, the about a year after that, the property manager left & one of the lease agents was promoted, she was bossy rude, power hungry & did not try to work with her tenants, they do things for themselves to make money but don't do anything for the tenants. My last 6 months there, they started remodeling apartments, but mine was not done, but they raised my rent & wanted me to pay the same rent as the remodeled apartments, even though mine was NOT remodeled & the tile flooring was terrible. I have also checked since then with other apartment complexes with make you pay water & sewer like they do, & for an apartment which I lived in, which was almost double the size, my most expensive water bill was 25.00 & that was more recent, at Aspen Grove they were charging me up to 85.00 a month for the same thing, they were ripping people off, considering I live here by myself & I live in the other place which was double the size & there were 2 of us & that 25.00 was total, 12.50/ea.

better than other places, but not the best
overall this isn't the worst place you could live, but it could be better with a little help.

i agree that the switch in management has been both good and bad -- they have responded to our problems quickly and courteously, however, there's been a bit more "less desirable" people moving in.

the security doors are a joke -- they don't close properly, and when someone does latch them, someone comes right behind and props them open. this lets in all the freakies and solicitors, so i feel i have to keep my door locked and latched at all times, even though were are "secure" building. i am so tired of the newspaper people knocking on my door every weekend.

i like the area for the most part -- being a bus rider it's quite convenient to several routes, and you're in walking distance to a few others. the grounds are nice, i love the trees. off-street parking is excellent. there's both the indoor and outdoor pools, but i don't feel the safest going in the outsoor pool after seeing the poeple that are in there -- i don't even think half those people live in our complex.

i wish the weight room was in better condition; you can't open any doors or windows in it to get air circulating, only one ceiling fan, and the a/c isn't very good, so you can't work out for more than 20 minutes without feeling like you're dying of heat stroke. and the machines are in need of some repair -- i stick to the bike.

one thing i absolutely despise is the sharing of amenities bills -- this splitting up of heat/ac/water amongst the entire complex is pretty crappy. we barely use our heat in the winter yet our bills are sky high, and when we want
a/c, it turns itself off all the time. also, the switch from winter to summer, when they turn off heat and turn on a/c is horrid -- it always gets cold right after they turn off the heat, so you spend the next few weeks freezing.

Counting down the days...
I posted a previous review about this apartment complex. I stand by my previous judgements, and now have a few more to add to the list.
A couple of weeks ago we received a notice from "management" (think money-grubbing liars), that we still owed back rent from our prorated amount when we moved in. It was "only" $13, but they said in the notice that if we did not include it with that month´s upcoming rent, that month´s rent wouldn´t be accepted. We did not get a receipt of any kind when we PAID PRORATED RENT WHEN WE MOVED IN, so we had to no proof to dispute.
Also, we have not had our heater and/or AC on for OVER A MONTH, yet last month´s gas bill was a charge of $64, because they add all gas usage up and divide it by the number of tenants total. This means we´re paying for OTHER PEOPLE´S GAS USAGE, which is TOTAL CRAP.
Believe me, I cannot *wait* until the lease is up and I can get out of this place. I suggest whoever is considering the Liars at Aspen Grove keep SEARCHING!!

It´s up to you. . .
The Lodge was a nice place when we first moved here. The staff was nice and helpful and there were a few good maintenance men. There were times when there was a lot of noise in the parking lots and hallways. (We recommend that you don´t rent the apartments at the ends of the buildings!) When the new management took over things began to change for the worse. The new manager is very nice, but I don´t think the "management" screens new tenants very well now. We´ve noticed that A LOT more trashier people have moved in next to us that don´t pay their rent (we´ve seen their legal notices posted on their doors!) and they roam the hallways asking for money or cigarettes. There is A LOT more noise in the parking lots, people parking in handicap parking, the doors to the buildings are no longer are locked and secure, and the new maintenance people don´t have a clue as to what they are doing! Building A has been having problems with the hot water for about 2 months now and NO ONE is fixing the PROBLEM. They have just turned the heat up so now you either get scorched or you freeze to death. I would not recommend this place to anyone in the conditiion that it´s in now.

Yep, it still sucks...
So after three different "notices" about balcony storage, tenants still insist their balconies are a dumping ground for their trash--including the standard bags of it, but also furniture, toys, rugs, boxes, etc. I thought this was an apartment complex, not a trailer park.

If you do make the unfortunate decision of moving into the LIARS at Aspen Grove, make sure you read over very carefully the lease, as a six month lease turns into almost a seven month lease because they will not let you move out until the very end of the month.

This place sucks. Office staff is a complete joke; grounds are skanky. Overall I would not recommend this place--grant I'm sure it's better than some of the other reviews I've read about, but in all seriousness I know there are better deals out there. Keep searching and if you do end up at this money-sucking CRAPHOLE, god's speed.

Problem Apartments
Many problems with the apartment that were not fixed in a timely manner. They left a hole in the wall for over 2 weeks. The shower needed new tiles and they started the project and took 3 weeks to finish leaving us without a shower for 3 weeks. The maintenance manager came into the apartment and turned all of the water on full blast and never came back to turn it off which left huge puddles of water on the floor and was disgusted that I asked him to clean it up. Also, when we moved in the apartment had bugs all over the place. One toilet has not flushed for over a month now and is yet to be fixed. The walls are extremely thin so you are able to hear you neighbors very easily and this also causes the apartment to get very cold when it is cold outside.

Much better with the new management!
I moved in this past summer and was shocked at the lack of consideration or thought was extended me in day to day operations. Maintenance repairs took an act of congress and the office staff was rude and uncooperative. In October they brought in new management, and I must say, I was counting the minutes until my lease was up - but now I am considering renewing my lease. Mary seems kind and caring, the maintenance staff have been able and helpful - like a whole different apartment complex! Not exactly the Ritz Carlton, but life is definetly better here now!

Probably Best to Keep Shopping
Though my comments are not as scathing as some people here, overall I can´t recommend this place. I find that it is overpriced for what you get and you can find better deals in the neighborhood if you´re dead set on that neighborhood or elsewhere if you´re more flexible on location.

We have been very disappointed with maintenance, we have had two major problems, both involving issues with water and both times it took over a month for someone to even come look at the problem even though we gave written notice to the office and followed up.

We have had numerous problems with water and electricity. Over this summer of 2003 we were without water for at least on day each week WITHOUT NOTICE. Our airconditioner did not work through most of July. The electricty goes off in half of our apartment (really weird) for no apparent reason. Don´t even get me started on the cable company, the owner of the complex has locked into a deal with this terrible company called TVMAX. They are just awful, so if you like TV, don´t live here unless you face south and can get a dish.

My husband had his license plate stolen which were weren´t very happy about and we don´t appreciate that derelect cars are left for long periods of time in spots next to the building that those of us who actually use our vehicles would appreciate more.

We find some of our neighbors very nice. We have no noise complaints, I´ve nver heard my neighbors except for the odd argument that´s spilled into the hall but that´s apartment dwelling. Unfortunatly some people who live here like to leave the garbage in the halls or other inappropriate public areas, which I don´t blame on the apartment staff BUT when it´s there for a week and the cleaning staff STILL hasn´t picked it up I do blame that on the apartment staff.

I have found the staff to be really nice, I know pretty much all of them and I have never had a problem with their attitude towards me (and I am under 28) but I do find that they don´t communicate properly with tenants and lose things like my notices of maintenance problems or my rent renewal far to frequently. Not to mention the lack of notice when utilities are scheduled to go out.

Like I said, not a scathing review but still can´t give it the thumbs up. There are better deals around, my advice is keep looking.

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!!
I have lived here for nearly a year and must say I agree with the odors and the maintenance. The management however is horrible, they like to bully their tennant´s, and could care less about your problems and maintenance problems. I personally have still been waiting for my mail keys for over two months. I call the office, stop by the office yet they cant seem to get that I cant get my mail unless I stay home from work and catch the mailman.
Not to mention, you lose your house keys they make you pay $25 cash to the maintenance man and then another $25 cash for them to change the locks. Oh, and one of the "managers" said it would be $25 cash just to get another set of mail keys. When I asked politely for documentation of all of the fee´s she couldn´t help me. Then the main property management woman told me their wasn´t a fee. Hmmm, seems like the staff isnt paid enough so they need to charge $25 for anything. Next thing you know it´s gonna start costing to go the pool and gym. The sauna has been broken and doesn´t seem to be a priority on their list. If your below the age of 28, prepare for the maintenance man Rich to try and bully you around, get your car towed at your expense, bang on your door at 8 in the morning until you come to the door. The management will talk to you like you are a child and talk very disrespectful to you.
They are interested in getting people into leasing agreements and that´s it, they do not care and like to throw all accusations at their younger tennants. Well this young tennant doesn´t plan to renew any type of lease and I encourage all to STAY AWAY FROM THE LODGE AT ASPEN GROVE!! I guarantee you can find a better apt in the neighborhood that will appreciate and value your money and business. Take it from me, do not suffer through even a 6 month lease.

Numerous problems
The Lodge at Aspen Grove is an ok place to live, but has some definite problems. My primary concerns were the noise level, safety, uncleanliness of the building, and inconsistent experiences with the management. We were kept awake numerouse times by the people next to us due to rather thin walls, as well as the people outside, either honking their horns, playing their music all night, or having very loud discussions. Twice we saw neighbors walking around with guns, accompanied by conversations with their friends about who they were about to use them on. The door to the building was rarely kept closed. There is indeed urine in the elevators on a weekly basis and one of the other reviewers is 100% right about the pot smoke and other strange odors. As to the management, they are sometimes nice and accomodating and sometimes rude. One thing that particularly angered me was when they repaved and painted the parking lot without any notice. I parked my car the night before and came out the next morning to find the area roped off and my car nowhere in sight. They had towed my car w/o notice or permission and could have damaged it had the parking break been on. On the plus side, our studio apartment was rather large and there was always hot water. For $545 a month, however, there were far to many problems for me to recommend this apartment complex.

Avoid the Lodge!
I am writing this to hopefully keep one person from making the same mistake we did. On a rush decision we decided on the Lodge at Aspen Grove. They lied many times about when the new office/pool was going to be open, often I have come home to trash in the hallways, urine in the elevators, vomit smell in the hallways, pot smoke at all hours of the day, not to mention a lack of concern by the magagement. The elvators are not a good idea, as I have been stuck in the four separate times, my girlfriend was stuck in them twice and another neighbor said she has been stuck in them several times also. Do not expect maintanence to fix them though, as they take forever to respond to your request. We had a leaking toilet that we called about several times before they finally came. When they did come, they also left another apartment´s set of keys in our apartment- not the safest thing to do! I do not think this apartment complex is safe or desirable. I would hope you make another decision, but if you do live here, be prepared for these things and be prepared to regret your stay.

Great place
This place is really quiet. The ladies and matience crew are really nice. Matience orders get done really quickly and the ladies in the office are really friendly and helpful. The nice thing about this place is I have NEVER heard my neighbors. The courtyard area is beautiful although it would be nice is some of the grass would grow back but with the drought who knows. I would recommend this place.

WOW
I just happened to be thinking of moving, and was looking at some other property ratings.
I have lived here for 18 months, and haven´t had any problems except for a leak under my kitchen sink. My building is great and I even talk to my neighbors which is something different for Denver apartment living. I have always been treated like a human being and not a number, The girls in the office know be by name and are always sweet as pie.
After reading the reviews on the other apartments and this one I can tell you, I am afraid to move thats number 1, and number 2 whom ever wrote the mixed reviews on Aspen Grove had issues long before they moved here.
Okey Dokey

Nasty, Nasty and nastier
When I first moved into the apartment I was really excited about certain features (ie: the size of the kitchen, the new clubhouse, balcony, closet space, etc). I was fooled- really fooled. Yes the kitchen is big- especially for when your dishwasher is not hooked up right and it floods you kitchen- there is a lot of space for all the water. Also the kitchen area is big-yes- but there is no cabinet space let alone counter space so I hope you don´t plan on doing anything in your kitchen!! I was also really excited about the new clubhouse but I had to live there for almost a year for it to be opened. It did finally open and it is great but honestly don´t let the clubhouse fool you- it is decieving!!! The Balcony size is also great but don´t plan on putting anything out there because it will just be eaten by squirrels. The closet space looks great at the beginning but I still think it would be great with walk-in closets but still it is decent!!

The other main problem is the manangement staff in there new clubhouse which apparently makes them snotty!!! The old management staff was nice to me but I am fully aware that they were not nice to anyone else. The old matience guy did do my matience repairs right away but he also took those opportunities to ask me out!!! YUCK!!! The new management staff are rude and disrespectful and I don´t know why because they have no right they should be nice to everyone just because the apartments are awful so something needs to be nice. I had several problems and the management was so rude and at times I found them yelling at me therefore causing me to angier that needed!! I have called the big guy- the boss of management and he is not helpful either at all- if he returns your phone call. The matience is nice and they try but I had to get angry to get them to come!! I won´t even begin describing all of the problems that I had- I want to live in an apartment where I hardly if at all know the matience staff!! The fact that every review said something about them tells you this place is falling apart and quick!!!! Overall- do yourself a favor and don´t even stop to look at this place- there are better deals and nicer apartments!!!

This apartment complex is not worth half the money we pay
This place sucks. The new fitness center/clubhouse/hot tubs were supposed to be finished 8 months ago. The current swimming pool is cold and filthy. The elevators are scary, and the office staff keeps your deliveries (i.e. flowers) with out telling you. We feel like we are paying way too much money.

The most expensive ------ you´ll ever live in!
I have had to file 2 police reports regarding indecent exposure. I have had a hubcap and my registration stolen off my car. There have been multiple instances of urine, smoke, graphiti and other nasties in public areas of the buildings. I have had an exterminator out b/c of cockroaches going on 5 times now. I have recentely been waking with bug bites from who-knows-what. This weekend there was a "domestic dispute" in which a patio on the ground floor was ran into with a car. The indoor swimming pool is so filthy a person would not trust to swim in it, while the outdoor pool, jacuzzi and clubhouse have yet to be finished (after a year ago I was promised this to be one of their ammenities). I have lived there 10 months and the security system has never worked properly. My complaints were never addressed with any sort of an apology and any attempts to better these situations were always negated soon afterwards.
