Not too bad
Overall we were left alone & not bothered. We did have ALOT of noise from apartment above us the last couple of months. Dog constantly barking, doors slamming, etc. I made a complaint to office which said they would notify them of this & still continued to have issues. It was close to our move out date so did not bother with my time to make another complaint. The apartment got to be too small for our family & was not happy that my rent was going up!!

Very unfairly treated
I rented an apartment at Village Creek on Vance St. I notified the apartment management (in writing) that I was departing in July, 2011. Due to circumstances I departed in early may. I paid the rent for May but forgot to pay the rent for June. I was sent a notice that I owed money including a "fine" for not notifying the apt management that I was leaving. I paid the amount requested which included rent for June 2011 but did not pay the "fine" as I HAD submitted a notification. Upon contacting the assistant manager, I was told that she canceled my notification of departure and would have to pay the additional "fine". I paid the additional "fine" when I was told by the asst manager that she would turn the matter over to a collection agency and I would have to pay their fees as well as the fine". I feel that I was treated VERY unfairly bordering on fraudulently.

Village Creek was just right
Our daughter just finished a 6 month stay in the Denver/Boulder area. We chose the Village Creek Apartments and found them a great value for th money, easy to work with, and very clean. The amenities were just fine and as parents we appreciated that the area and aparment complex was safe.

Village Creek At Brook Hill
My experience was quite good. Office staff had a genuine desire to be helpful. Groundskeeper was thorough. The maintenance staff responded promptly no matter how minor an issue. Never a problem finding a parking spot.

Look anywhere else besides here!!!!
The staff is HORRIBLE!Besides the manager who tends to work with us a little better but she seems to be the only one. On the otherhand her assistant is probably the worst so called "assistant" there is. She's very unprofessional and fake. She never gets anything accomplished that she says she will and is very reluctant to help out with ANY situation you may be having. The mantience is a nighmare, and the "pool guy" is a joke! The pool is closed more than it has been open in the past few years we've lived here. On top of the laundry room always being dirty and the prices are way too high for the 1980's appliances that the don't tell you about till you move in... I would not recommend this place to anyone! We can't wait to leave!!!!!!!

Don't do it!
I don't recommend moving into Village Creek if you have any other option. My apartment itself looks nice and I've never had a maintenence problem that wasn't minor and fixed right away. However, the management/office staff doesn't seem to care much for the tenants. There are serious communication issues between office staff members as well. I've lived there almost a year now, and for most of the year, the laundry facilities were broken/unavailable. There is not a laundromat nearby. Definitely do not live here if you don't have a vehicle, because there is also not a grocery store nearby. While the laundry room was out of commission, I called the leasing office several times to find out if they had any idea when it would be working again. Every single time I called, I was told, "this week, or next week." Seriously. I would have rather been told the truth, whatever it was, be it they don't know or it would be indefinite or it would be weeks/months. Instead I was treated like an idiot. Almost every time I call or visit the leasing office, I am treated like I'm disturbing them, and given the quickest easiest response, rather than a useful, truthful, informational one. Plus, if you have a question, you'll get a different answer from every member of the staff. Once you figure out you should probably only deal with the manager, you learn she's never actually there, and when the staff says they'll "leave her a note" to call you, either they're full of it, or she doesn't care to act upon their notes. Now my lease is up for renewal, and of course they want to raise my rent after inconveniencing me all year. It's a small hike, so I wouldn't complain, except that they're making the process of getting the new lease and signing it impossible. They've set deadlines for specials and signing the lease, and then refuse to provide the lease for me to sign in time to meet the deadline. When I let the manager know I feel like I am being screwed, she just defends her staff and says they do a "great job." Yeah. Great job. So great I'm here letting others know that when I see you showing an apartment to an excited prospective tenant, I fight the urge to scream, "NO DON'T DO IT! RUN, FIND ANOTHER PLACE WHILE YOU STILL CAN!" Also, the "no soliciting" signs are B.S. - My door is often covered in solicitations. My newest neighbor was also recently jumped in the parking lot, so it's not safe here, either. Speaking of the parking lot, the tenants here are a nightmare to share it with. It's as if they don't know how to drive. I've been almost backed-into more times than I can count. By the way, I got a car specifically to be able to go to the laundromat (and now on top of car payments, my rent goes up...) And the neighbors are fairly nice, mind their own business, but I was also just bit by a dog twice the size of its owner, and some tenants don't clean up their dog's poo. Outdoor cats roam around all the time, too, which doesn't bother me, but might be good info for others.

Best ever!
Having lived in lots of apartments, this is the one to judge all others by. Staff is professional and personable, friendly and prompt. Neighbors help make this an enjoyable community to come home to. Maintainance asks us if we need anything done, we don't have to look for them! Plenty of room in our unit, adaquet storage, and parking is no problem (even with two vehicles). My wife and I recommend living here to anyone who will listen to us.

Don't move here!
I moved here about a year ago and loved it! I liked how the office staff treated you as a person not a number. And the maintenance was always making sure service requests were completed in a timely manner. Well let me tell you that is not how it is now! My first and number one complaint is the office staff. The young lady that leased to me is no longer there and I think that is a mistake on the property. I heard that she was promoted when asked which is great. (I want to say her name was Stefani) Now there is an assistant manager in there that has no idea to talk to people with respect! She is too worried about her social hour with the leasing agent. Not to mention I have seen them on property together. I think that is a bad idea for the representation that is reflecting on the company. The assistant was not willing to work with me a couple months ago when I was unable to pay rent on the 1st. I had some unforeseen costs happen. Yes I know this is my issue but just for her to work with me would have helped. Instead she was ready to give me all these late fees and attorney fees. She is rude and just not intelligent! The leasing agents are extremely fake! They will smile at you and you just feel like your interrupting their time. The manager is another issue! If you bring an issue to her she will tell you what you want to hear to get you out of her office. I have gone to her numerous times in regards to how loud my neighbor is and it has yet to stop or be addressed from what I can tell. She makes you think that you are the issue and that she has done what she can. She was here when I originally moved in but is not the same person. Personality change for sure and not for the better. The maintenance is rude! They had amazing maintenance up until a couple months ago when they all just disappeared. They took care of my service requests within a day if not hours. And when they left there was no maintenance for weeks. I had a service request sit for four weeks. It was not important, something small but it was a disappointment. I have a friend that lives in another building and they woke up to sewage throughout their entire apartment. They were released from their lease do to ignorance of the office staff. They had no way to help them. They just let them move. This was just one issue of many that they have had since they started construction. I have not been able to do laundry in our laundry facility for weeks! It went out like summer time and it was down for a couple weeks. (No control of the community, something about a pipe bursting) But this time it has everything to do with the community and you ask anyone in the office when you can use it again and they just give you a deer in the head lights look and tell you soon. Overall, maintenance and the office staff seem like they get paid for social hour. I counted down the days to moving out. I am glad to be out of there. I am sorry for those who continue to live there. But for those of you that don't, I highly recommended you not move into this community!

Save Yourself a lot of frustration!!!! Run away from this hell hole!!!!
I have been living at this apartment complex for almost a year now and I am counting down the days till I can get out of here!!! My biggest complaints: Noise level: The walls are paper thin. I got stuck living under loud inconsiderate people who like to party all night. NOT ALL THE APARTMENTS HAVE CARPETING!!! Living below someone without it makes everything 10x louder. People always race through the parking lot and you can hear people's conversations while they walk past the apartment (with the windows shut). I know apartments are community living but I have not had a moment of peace since I moved in. Office Staff: The only nice staff members have left. When I go into the office I am greeted with a bunch of fake smiles and no answers. Parking: The parking lot is horrible. The spaces are small and my car is full of door dings. It is hard to find a parking spot at night.

Ok until you try to move out. Total nightmare. DO NOT MOVE HERE
The apartment itself was great. No problems while we lived there. After having my apartment inspected for my moveout and everything checked out fine I received a bill for $250. I called FOR WEEKS to try to get someone to tell me what the charges were for and if I could get a copy of the checkout sheet. The only responses I got were "I'll do some research and get back to you". It is now 4 months later and still no resolution. I have called and emailed the office manager all this week and I still get the same response. Finally I had to contact the owners of the property. I did however receive a notice that they will be sending me to collections. Guess I'll see them in court.

There are better apartments nearby with similar pricing
Your frustration is shared by many others who rents/rented at this apartment complex. The staff can be very rude and do not communicate well. The only people they try to be nice to are people who are about to sign new contracts. Probably because of commission. More over, this place is only suitable for short term and cheap rent, if it still is cheap. They started jacking up their price by 30%-40% in the last year, while keeping the value of living there the same or worst. I rented my one room w/ den for $600 now its almost $800. And it is so true what you said about the laundry room. Barely available because it's always "under maintenance". Same with the pool. Many people compare nearby apartments and try to save $$ by living @ village creek. There are plenty of other options around the area a few miles away. Similar pricing, but much better living situations, esp the staff and security. I keep hearing people get mugged and their cars getting damaged here due to lack of security.

No closet space
These units have hardly any closet space. Avoid this apartment complex. They happily kept my deposit on an apt. when I found a much better unit elsewhere. There phone didn't appear to be working and their fax was not working. I noticed the parknig lot was nearly full and parking would be difficult there.

Walls too thin, nice staff
My son and I lived at Village Creek for two years. Pluses: Reasonable rent, location, nice staff, great maintenance response, "hardwood" floors and fireplace. Negatives: Thin walls, irresponsible dog owners not cleaning up their dog's waste, no washer/dryer hookups in unit, lack of storage. Village Creek is "nothing special" but it's a nice enough place to call home. Our one real problem came w/ our upstairs neighbor and his drum game. The staff gave minimum effort to resolving it when the neighbor and I couldn't come to an agreement ourselves. However, when we moved out, Village Creek let us skip painting for fre which normally they charge for that service. I would live there again if I didn't have a young child (laundry not being in unit was main reason we moved) and I knew the neighbors could be quiet.

Believe me, Do Not Move Here!!
I have stayed here for quite a while in a 2 bedroom apt. The apt is made of poor materials. During the winter the heater blast like crazy to keep the place warm. During the summer the air conditioner drain so much energy. We currently don't even use our heater because it sucks and our utility bill is still almost $200. My mom has a 4 bedroom house that cost less than that. Moreover, the electric wiring is bad as well. In our living room, if we have the TV, the portable heater, the light, and my laptop plugged in at the same time the circuit cuts out. Hot water is always a problem. It takes several minutes to heat up in the shower. Some of the appliances are very old. They do not replace them unless it breaks down. Old appliances use up a lot of energy. Our fridge is an example of the high cost of our bills. So if you're trying to save money because of the cheap rent, think again. Your other bills will round up another $200-300 extra, we were just as shock as you. We are learning the horrible things about this apt the hard way because we entered into the lease. There's a lot of MISC CHARGES every month. When they say Pet-Friendly, they mean pay us $300 NON-REFUNDABLE plus $25 extra per month. There's also the sewer bills for another $25. It adds up quickly. Management never mentioned some of the charges to us like the sewer bill. If you're wondering, we are not the only unlucky ones. Many of the other tenants feel the same way with their apt and their bills, even the employees here. The last note I would like to leave is that looking at the picture of the apt with the nice pool, it usually doesn't look like that. The majority of the time it looks nasty and dirty due to the lack of maintenance. If I could choose again, I wouldn't mind paying for a higher place that do not have these unbelievable extra costs. After reading my review and you still want to give this place a try. I would have to tell you that you are insane and have a lot of money to spill in this awful place. Good Luck in searching elsewhere.

2 Years and Counting...Enjoy this place!
I have lived here with my three daughters for almost 2 years and plan on continuing my lease for another year. The maintenance guys are great and quick with fixing things. I have my rent taken out automatically so it makes life even easier than dropping off a rent check. The grounds are kept up very well. Great for dogs. The pool is nice as well. Plenty of washer and dryers available. Only negative is the pet rent of $25 per month and a $300 nonrefundable fee for the pet too. Check them out. They are respectful and courteous. No, I am not an employee for them.

BEWARE OF GIVING A 30 DAY NOTICE
I have lived here for 2 years. At first I loved it here. Neighbors were nice, management was good, and maintence was with quick responce. Last year I moved from a 1st floor apt to a 3rd floor within Village Creek. When I moved out of the 1st floor, they tried to charge me for new cabinets because ONE cabinet door wasnt screwed in tightly enough. I recently received a letter on my door to request me to resign my lease, which without a doubt was going up in rent. So I looked online for other apartments and came across my exact same apartment at this complex being advertized for 150.00 cheaper than what I am currently paying. The management in the office offered to resign and not raise my rent but I didnt feel that was good enough. If they can rent this same apartment for 750.00 a month then why cant I get that same rate?? Their responce was that apparently that advertizement was for a specific apartment (which by the way was not mentioned on the online ad). They also have recently moved in new people below me, ugh what an annoyance they have become. I live on the 3rd floor for a reason, these neighbors have parties every night till 4am, and its summer so I like to sleep with my windows open, but I cant now with all the pot smokers smoke seeping into my house making my house smell like stale marajuana, they dont seem to know how to close doors without slamming them either which results in shaking my entire apartment. I have found a new apartment and wish I could move out every day to my new place. I have asked for a bill showing the break down of the charges for my last months rent, as it needs to be prorated. I have asked for this for well over a week. Teri the manager offered to POST IT ON MY DOOR, which I said I dont want things like that on my door (at least she heard that request) I came to the office that same day this week and they closed early. They dont return phone calls. I called today asking again for this, and I was told their system is down but Jeremiah assured me that he could get me a statement, so I came in today to get it. Apparently Jeremiah went home early and I am just SOL. Rent is due tomorrow, and I dont have a bill to use to pay it with. So I left the office, extremely angry, I called and talked to the nitwit Stephanie and asked her for the corporate info, which she refused to provide me with. Its cool I will just look up AIMCO PROPERTIES MYSELF. They have already told me I wont get my deposits back and we havent even done a walk out yet. And as far as the break in problem here, I personally have never had a break in but an entire motorcycle was stolen out of the parking lot just 2 months ago, which the complex graciously let us know by FYI letters on our doors. If you want to live here cool, just dont ever want to move out because they are vicious and vindictive and will financially take it out on you!!

It was pretty good.
I notice from the reviews of just about every complex that it's the angry, bitter and frustrated people who take the time to write. I was there for almost 2 years. I had some financial issues and in the end was evicted owing 2 months and with one month remaining ahead of me. The management tried to work with me and was as easygoing as I could have expected given the circumstances. True, they're not that good about shovelling sidewalks, but I was also there through one terrible winter where people couldn't DIG out of the lot for days... The maintenance crew was always respectful and did pretty well. Better about some things than others, but they were generally pretty good about fixing problems. There are issues with any apartment complex, but ultimately it's a contract. On one side is a business and the other SHOULD BE an adult. It's not your mommy's house, and they don't exist to wait on you hand and foot. You gotta take some responsibility for yourselves!

ABSOLUTELY HEINOUS LIVING EXPERIENCE!!!!
While living in Village Creek, there have been three burglaries to roomate and me alone. My motorcyle has been stolen, two attemps on my roomates motorcycle, and my friends car has been stolen while visiting. This alone was not means enough to get out of lease while talking to management of the complex. I do not recommend living or even looking at this complex to even consider living at. Absolutely heinous living experience.

No Real Problems as a Starter Apartment
I've lived here since July 2005, but I will be moving out when my lease runs out (June 30, 2007). I am a grad student at CU Boulder and figured that I could live anywhere for a year (and renewed for another year) and it'd be better to go cheap while I'm just starting out. I'm not moving out explicitly because of issues with the apartment, but more because I want to have less of a commute (10 hrs/week on the bus is a waste of time), I like to cook and the kitchen in their 1 bedroom is quite small, and I'd like a place that's nicer overall.

Rather than make this a narrative, I'll try to list pros and cons (in no particular order).

PROS -

1. The lease rate I got when I moved in pretty much couldn't be beat unless you wanted to move into a refrigerator box. $479/month was the original rate due to me signing within 24 hours of viewing and getting one with older appliances and carpet (which were fine for being old). It was raised to the normal price of $519/month when I renewed a year later.

2. Pets are generally pretty good, and most owners are considerate with leashes and cleaning up, though of course exceptions do exist.

3. Everything works. I know this might seem like a "duh" statement, but after reading lots of reviews on this site, I thought I should state that when I moved in, there were no issues with broken appliances, stuff being messy, etc. (except they forgot to clean the interior of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom). There were some vertical blinds missing that they replaced 15 minutes later.

4. On-call maintenance 24 hrs/day. I got back from classes and heard a dripping sound from within the water heater closet. Apparently, the water heater in the apartment above me had sprung a leak and it was coming into my apartment. It did take two calls, but within 45 minutes of initially calling it in, a guy came and got it fixed. It wasn't gushing, so it wasn't a huge deal that it took awhile. (Yes, this is a pro, not a con, though it reads like a con.)

5. No pest problem. There were a few roaches I saw when I first moved in, but I bought $5 traps from the grocery store and I haven't seen any roaches since. No other bugs except the occasional spider (which isn't a bug).

6. Thick walls and low noise issues. Contrary to other reviewers of this complex, I have not had any real noise issues (except a barking dog, see #2 below). The neighbors are for the most part quiet, I don't hear people outside at night when I'm trying to sleep (and I'm a light sleeper), though I do sometimes hear the bass in the afternoon through my bedroom wall. After living 4 years in a college dorm, I am very happy with the noise level here.

7. Location. Close to the mall, shopping, 4 grocery stores within a mile, Costco within a mile, banks, restaurants, etc. And close to US-36 and the Westminster Park-n-Ride. This was one of the major reasons why I chose it initially.

CONS -

1. Matched with my first pro, the current rent they charge if you sign a lease now for my floorplan is $600/month, which I must say is NOT worth it. Low-$500s, yes, $600, no.

2. DOGS BARKING. There is one little yapper that I have complained about but nothing's happened. My apartment faces a "courtyard" (for lack of a better term) and so sound resonates, especially when it's one small, white dog barking at an open window all day long.

3. The grounds are not the best. There's grass, trees, bushes, etc., but the management tends to slowly replace problem grass spots with large, smooth rocks and avoid the hassle. I generally don't care about superfluous things like that, but it is starting to annoy me that the tree outside my bedroom window never has leaves.

4. Notification of policies. Before the summer of 2006, this was fine, but since then (not sure what happened or if it's just my perception of a massive shift), notices of policies have been sent out late. Case in point: I received a flyer that was dated February 22 on March 3 stating that starting on February 28 they would begin to use humane cat traps around the property and that it's a violation of the lease to let your cat outside without a leash. While I don't have pets, I was really ticked that the notice was delivered so late. I lodged a complaint and they were quite apologetic, but it didn't change the delay of the next notice. Another example is that in May 2006, we were told that the next week they would be sweeping the parking lot over two days and that cars in each half would need to be moved before 9 AM on the scheduled day or they would be towed. I lost the map and went to the office a few days before it was to start to ask for another one and they said they cancelled it and it would be done later in the summer ... no notification. Later in the summer, I received a notice on my door THE MORNING OF the sweep, saying my car would be towed if it wasn't moved by 9 AM ... luckily my car was in the half scheduled for the next day.

5. CELL PHONE RECEPTION SUCKS. Rather than pay two $40-bills a month, I discontinued my land line and just use my cell phone ... but before using it, I have to go up to the window, tape it in a particular place, do a little handstand, and throw salt over my shoulder. Okay, a slight exaggeration, but I get one of the weakest cell phone signals and sometimes have to go out to the parking lot just to call someone.

6. Parking is a mixed bag. I ended up getting a $25/month carport around Spring 2006 and since then I've been happy about parking (except when the guy with the giant truck moved into the port next to me). But before then, I would get in maybe at 8 PM and find no parking spaces left except clear across the property. Also, even though they re-striped the lot in summer 2006 while sweeping it (see #4 above), they did not measure the spaces. They just re-painted over the old lines, which are in no way even. Across a strip of 10 spaces, they vary from accomodating a wide moving truck to barely squeezing in a compact. There also needs to be a stop sign in the parking lot at a T intersection that people in the trunk of the T never pause to look to see if people are coming.

7. Laundry is also a mixed bag. Perhaps it's from living in a dorm, but I am used to having the laundry facilities very close to my front door, and only having one location can be annoying for folks farther away. But, there are almost always empty washers and driers, even when you'd think there wouldn't be (like weekend afternoons). But, they use cards. Which requires a $3 down payment. In the leasing office is the card machine which costs $3 to get a card and then you can put whatever cash you want on it. It's $1 per wash and $1 per dry, which also seems a little high to me. They claim that you can mail your card in when you move to the laundry company and they'll send you a $3 refund. I plan on holding them to this since I think the reason they do it is they think folks won't think $3 is worth it, but hey -- that's a pound of chicken at Costco!

For my apartment, the water bill is generally $16-17/month, and electric (and gas) ranges from $40-70 depending upon the season (got up to $80 for that very cold month this past winter).

I might feel differently as I try to close the lease and get everything moved out and my money back (based on what other folks on here have said). If my opinion significantly changes, I'll probably write another little blurb.

DO NOT LIVE HERE
Village Creek is absolutely horrible. The office staff is rude and unprofessional. They do not shovel sidewalks or plow the parking lots. The parking lots are full of pot holes that will tear your car apart. All of the dumpsters have doors that swing freely and will hit your car if the wind is blowing. Most doors are just completely off the hinges and leaning against the dumpster walls. The apartment complex looks absolutely disgusting. They over charge for rent...$600/month for a ------ 530 sq ft apartment. Complaints will not be taken seriously. People allow their dogs to run freely off of their leashes and the management staff does nothing to fix this. There is dog ---- everywhere! Cats all over the place. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!!

Village Creek Apartments SUCK!
I will never resign a lease with Village Creek Apartments. They don't shovel the icy sidewalks, (lawsuit waiting to happen), people park in your assigned spots and their staff dont know what their doing. They had my rent screwed up for over three months until they finally got it right. The staff do not communicate with you until you ask the same question over and over. Too many drunk people. DO NOT GO TO VILLAGE CREEK! Save yourself the missery!
