I HATE IT HERE!

I HATE it here. I lived at Calavera Point and for thirteen months there I never had a problem. Within the first two weeks of living here I woke up to find vomit all over my balcony from my upstairs neighbors who NEVER stop partying. I've called the cops three times and complained to the office at least TEN TIMES! They say they will do something about it and never do. Actually as I'm writing this they are partying. My neighbor was actually vacuuming at 11:45 one night. So if you like peace and quiet and actually want to sleep do NOT live here.
There are always dogs without leashes running around outside, so if you have children do NOT live here. If you want a staff that knows what is going on here and actually wants to help you do NOT live here. If you want to keep the stereo in your car do NOT live here.
If you're not a college student do NOT live here.
Good Experience for a Great Price

Apartments are well kept up with. Staff is friendly and helpful but there has been a high turnover rate - which is really no different from any other leasing office at other apartments. Only real problem is parking - not enough parking so sometimes have to park far away from apartment building. Overall it's been a good experience for a great price. Convenient location too! I would recommend it. :)

Terrible experience... I can't wait to move out!

Pay a little extra so you don't get totally screwed in the long run. This place is a mess...mostly, the management of the company can't keep things straight. I'm surprised they're still in business. Bad attitudes... always giving me the run-arounds. Repairs are never completed on time, and calls to the AIMCO corporate office go unresolved. They just give you the same line of BS. It is ridiculous. Don't fall for this one...Trust me, you'll be glad you heeded this advice!

Sincerely,
Wiser Village Creek Tenant

Be careful they will withhold your deposit due to their own error.

I lived at Village Creek for 4 years. There were some little things about the apartment such as the lack of windows, dark grey carpet and grey walls which made it feel like a dungeon, and the noise issues which were never dealt with until I started calling the police on a nightly basis for the parties at 3 or 4 in the morning.

I could have standed living there another year or two but had to move for work. When I got my detailed report of my move out they withheld money for rent that they say I was deliquent on. I always paid my rent on time and actually usually paid over so I ended up with a credit. I went in at the begining of the month and they told me what my rent would be minus the credits. I gladly paid that and even checked when I checked out to make sure I was paid in full. There was no problem or so I thought. I have called them 3 or 4 times a day and am always told they had to review my account and would call me back. They never did. I finally got a response and they told me that they didn't quote me the right price when I paid at the beginning of the month and that I owed them that money. I disagreed and had them go through each detail and the manager quickly through out some numbers and when I said I agree with one of the charges she said alright and hung up on me. I am not going to continue to waste my time for $40 but it is the principal that I am steamed about.

If you move here I would recommend you keep detailed records of all money paid and credits owed to you. I also recommend you get some earplugs and lots of lamps or you will feel like you are in a mental institution from the lack of light.

          Absolutely terrible!!

This place was a complete joke to live in. The "fun" started when my roommate moved in (2 weeks before me) to find find when she got there with her moving van and friends to help, that the new carpet had yet to be installed. So they had to wait another day to actually move in. (No credit on the rent for that day.) The we moved in to find a hole in a kitchen cabinet, all but one smoke detector broken (which were never fixed and our apt failed the city's inspection), a missing towel rack and toilet paper holder in one of the bathrooms, that same bathroom door was falling off the hinges, toilet not working in, again, that same bathroom, a bedroom closet door broken, a leaking refrigerator, and a missing kickplate under the kitchen sink. (Perfect place for the cat to try to play!) And that was all just the day we moved in!!! They said to us "oops - we moved you into the wrong apartment." Ya think?!?!?

Then there were a wide variety of maintenance issues over the one year we lived there that never seemed to be taken care of in a timely manner.

But the BEST part was when I put down my pet deposit, and the former manager never credited it to my account. (She was fired for embezzeling from the company - my money included!) So when I went to move out, they told me they never received my pet deposit. I had to prove to them that I did, and it took 5 months for me to do that and get my money back from them. Unacceptable!!

I had 2 cars broken into in the parking lot there - one mine, the other my sister's. Both were parked in the same spot - under a street light! And the management did nothing about it - just said "yeah, that's been happening a lot lately." Would have been nice for them to warn the residents!

This was THE WORST place I've ever lived. DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!

            This place wasn't too bad.

During my stay here from 2003-2004, my wife and had a pretty enjoyable time at Village Creek. There were very few problems over the course of our stay.

Pros:

Being originally from New England, we chose this apartment complex because it had trees, and it would let us keep our cats. However, the big draw was the trees.

Since Vance Street is right off 92nd, there is a mostly direct shot to I-36 which is the road to take to get to Denver or Boulder. You can walk to the mall or the downtown city plaza markets if you feel inclined. I used to work at Interlocken in Broomfield, so this was a quick ride too.

We had a 2BR/2BA model, so we could open windows on both sides of the apartment and get a cool breeze through the place, which was nice. The apartment was in excellent shape when we moved in, and maintenance was always quick to respond w/ anything we had wrong.

Laundry is located in a separate area in the back of the office, and there are always washers and dryers free. They take a card system which frees you from lugging around a bag of quarters.

The pool was very nice...and the hot tub was toasty. The young crowd was mostly friendly and there weren't a ton of kids running around.

The walls were thick enough 'cos I never heard so much of a peep from either side of the walls from my neighbors.

Cons:

Parking layout left something to be desired, but ample parking was never too far away. I just had to come home before it got too late.

The train coming through at night is loud...and I mean wake-you-up-eyes-wide-as-saucers loud. You get used to it after a week or two, but it's loud.

Lots of college students. Lots. It didn't bother me most of the time, but they sometimes attract a rowdy crowd. If you don't like the noise, this isn't for you.

Overall, I'd recommend it...

I'm still having trouble getting my initial deposit back from Aimco though...so don't drop your guard on this when you move out.

              NO WAY

I have lived in these apartments for 5 months and I have had nothing problems, maintance can't do anything in a timly manner and the office was suppose to setup the Xcel bill and they weren't able to do that right so my heat was almost turn off in the middle of winter. And now I am stuck with a 500.00 bill for it. If you do move in make sure that they setup your Xcel correctly.

I would not recommand these apartments to anyone.

                DON'T LIVE HERE!!!!!!!!

When we toured the property it was great! Daniel was very attentive in locking his leasing commission on our move-in, after that the staff just pretty much took a CRAP on us as residents.
If you are a partying college student this is the place to live! There are keg parties all the time. To make it even better, people will puke in the bushes outside of your bedroom window and you'll have a lovely smell in the morning. I promise you it is a fantastic selling point!
If it is a hot summer day and your AC isn't working call the maintenace staff...it may take a call to Jeff Kimes or Jackie Ricketts to get the job done properly, but it will get done EVENTUALLY! As for the maintenace staff, they are not certified for HVAC and are usually hung over.
As for safe, it is pretty much NOT!!! There are light poles that have been broken since the beginning of the summer still not repaired. Trees covering light poles, lights out.
Pets are a huge thing here too. We are supposed to keep our dogs on leashes, if you suck up to them in the office you don't have to. But beware of the Rottweiler and Pit Bulls on the property if you have a little dog, they are just chew toys to them. Also you may have to pick up your dog to step over the broken beer bottles on a Saturday morning after a good night of partying.
When you make a payment by check make sure they don't post it on your door with all of your account information on it like they did to me. They may as well have posted my credit card statement for someome to steal and buy a car with it.
There is a new manager on the property and I feel badly for her. She is a nice woman, but she has a ton of garbage to deal with from her so called assistant, Tina. If this woman does not like you she'll play the victim and say you attacked her. Let me warn you she is one evil ----- and loves to bad mouth residents in front of the others.
Should you be a smart person you would not rent at Village Creek, go to Cascade Village, Remington West, or Calavera Point. More than likely they will treat like a human being unlike the mangement and staff they have here.
What a joke!!

Let just start with the maintenance people. They're what you call full service. Whether it is alcohol, drug or sex you are looking for, they can & will provide it. Of course, if it is a broken stove or if you have no heat for 8 days, they could give a ----!

As for the office people, Tina is about as rude as they come. And, as soon as they hired a manager who seemed to give a ----, (I think her name was Carrie) they fire her.

I would definitely look elsewhere, before ever setting foot in this place. Trust me, as soon as my lease is up, I'm outta here!!!

                    Somehow made it through...

Well, I've endured poor service calls, horrible neighbors, dog ----, parties, bass kickers, and an office staff that just points the finger of blame at each other. I'll be out of here soon. I actually almost broke lease several times this year due to horrible service problems and terrible neighbors, but I've managed to stick it out. Thank goodness my lease is up soon as we now have Yellowjacket bees swarming the bedroom and the office staff doesn't seem to be above telling me "I'm sorry you have to sleep in the living room, but our exterminator doesn't come out until Wednesdays" then I get "I'm also sorry if you have to sleep at a Hotel, but we don't have enough money to help with that." Emergency anything doesn't exist at this apartment complex. What they will do is say that it's an emergency and someone will be right out on Tuesday, but then blow you off until the regular scheduled Wednesday so they can save a buck. As far as my ratings listed, I'm not being hateful - Parking - spaces are ALL made for compact cars. Expect MANY dents in your doors. Noise level - up many nights, and have had to call the Police just to get some sleep. Grounds - see puke and ---- problems, and bees too. Saftey - bees aside, I've never had my car broken into here, but did have some drunken nut smash into the back of several cars including mine. Construction - bees coming out of my light fixtures. Porch falling apart. Screen door on porch smashed while they painted earlier this year (of course not fixed). ALL STAFF - see above. No low rent is worth this, I'd recommend staying at home with parents/ ex-wives/ prison.

                      DO NOT RENT HERE

We have lived in this apartment for 4 years. For the first few years it was great. For the past 6 months, our lives have been hell. It started out with the neighbor upstairs who moved in with a dog who barked all night long. She also has a habit of leaving her trash outside her door and turning her TV up so loud it rumbles the building. We notified the apartment complex numerous times and for 3 months they said they would take care of it and never fully did. Now that it's semi taken care of, we have not had working air conditioning for 3 months. We call in about twice a week and they keep coming in and doing a quick fix so the repair only lasts a couple of days at most. Everytime we call in they act as if this was the first time we reported the incident. Aimco has a policy that if a mantainance call is placed they have 24 hours to get back to you or you get a credit on your rent for those days. We haven't recieved any credit so far. During this year we have had to stay at another place atleast 15 days. Do not rent here if you actually want to sleep at home. Rent at Remington West. That is where we am going as soon as our lease is up.

I really liked my apartment at first, but things have come to my attention that just have begun to bother me over time! I don´t think anyone in the office really knows what is going on, because there is someone new every month. The grounds are really not first priority either. I have had good and bad experiences with the maintance dept, but they usually show up...it´s just if they will REALLY fix it or just use a quick fix!

I give it B-, could be worse, could be a whole lot better. I wouldn´t pay more than 600 for a small one bedroom in this place...i´m going next door to Remington West next year :)

                          Don´t want to live hwre!!!!!

I have lived in Village Creek for about 1 and a half years now. When I moved in the application process was very pleasant, and Tracy, the old manager was very friendly. After I moved in we ahd mold under our sink that took months to remove. Our sink was leaking along with our dishwasher. It took about 4 or five months for this to be fixed. Our carpets were NOT cleaned EVER, and our walls were never painted until we got on their last nerve because of complaining. After we received a letter on our door stating that if we renue for 12 months we would get our next month free. My wife and I decided to move into a bigger and cleaner place. Since then we have had the same problems. Loud neighbors, no maintenance being completed, Sidewalks always icy, and now they are trying to make us pay for what was supposed to be our free month from 4 months ago. Why they waited to wait 4 months only they know. They know that they are having a hard time bringing people in to the complex and keeping them there so they will try to get as much money from you as they can. Tina, is the rudest person in management that I have ever met, and AIMCO´s Corporate Office is no help as well. Take it from me. GO NEXT DOOR TO CALEVERA or REMINGTON WEST!!!!!!!!!!

Going on my 6th year living here and I still love it!

I am about to renew for my 6th (yes, 6th!) year, and I still love living here.
I moved here right after college, so this has been the only place I´ve lived, besides with Mom and Dad! :) Every time my lease is up for renewal, yes, I do some searching, maybe thinking I could use a change. But after visiting other properties, and especially after reading reviews on this site for apartments in my area, there´s nowhere else I´d want to live but here! Some of the negative comments about other communities in my area...wow!...I feel very fortunate to say that I have never experienced those kinds of things at Village Creek. Sure, things aren´t always 100% perfect, but nothing ever is. But I renewed again, without hesitation!

* The office staff: Living here for as long as I have, there has been turnover, and I can honestly say that I´ve had good experiences with all of the staff, past and present. Always a friendly voice answering the phone. Always a friendly welcome when visiting the office. They are always willing to work with you with any specific issues or problems, too.

* The maintenance staff: They are great. When I´ve had (rare!) maintenance emergencies, they have always responded promptly, even if it was late at night. And very friendly also, even just passing by out on the property, they´ll always say hello.
And with cold and snowy weather, I can always hear them at the crack of dawn, shoveling and salting the walkways.

All in all, I´ve had a great experience living there, especially reading the negative reviews of neighboring communities! I feel pretty lucky!

(And no, I don´t work for Village Creek, I´m just a resident!)

                              Very Very Poor Living Experience

I lived there for 5 months and there were many parties keeping me up at night. Fights as well, requiring police calls for disturbing the peace. The community atmosphere was that of a college dorm without the requirements of academia and no resident assistants. Also many juveniles visiting various apartments. Our car was dented and parking restrictions were not enforced. Pet waste was such that grass could not grow. Oh, and the smell of the horse farm next door was atrocious.

Our air conditioner broke down and we had to live without AC for over 2 weeks.

We thought it was kind of the manager to let us out of our lease early without penalty. However, she never returned our deposit and we have had to seek legal proceedings. We tried several times to contact her in person but were redirected to the parent company AIMCO. This company was also divertive. I highly recommend staying away from this community.
She was really great and we could always count on her to help with anything. Now I go into the office and Tina, our new assistant manager, is ready to bite heads off. I never see a smile and sometimes she is plain rude. To top it off the last of the good staff was Vince, now he is no longer there. I no longer feel that Village Creek is home. If it was not for the wonderful maintenance staff, I would move now!!!!

I would like to compliment the staff at Village Creek. I have lived in many different complexes over the years, and I can honestly say Village Creek is the best.
Whenever there is a storm, the maintenace guys are out there bright and early, shoveling and plowing. When there are icy paths, they are salted promptly. During the big blizzard in March, when we were snowed in for 3 days, the staff was wonderful. The maintenance guys were out there helping, and assisting with towing cars out if they were stuck or if we just plain wanted to get out for a while! They even had an impromptu "Blizzard of 2003" party in the clubhouse during the storm.
Whenever I have had a maintenance problem, the staff fixes it promptly. Even after hours, leaving a message on the after-hours emergency maintance line, the maintenance guy was at my door within minutes! It´s very reassuring to know that when and if I have a maintenance emergency (or non-emergency), that it will be handled promptly and in a very friendly manner.
Tracey and Tina are awesome, as well. This staff is the best!

                                        Great home!

The management is very friendly here. I only had one mechanical problem during my stay and the crew had it repaired within one day of reporting the issue. I lived on the first floor and never had any problems with noise from the above apartments. The community seems very friendly and I plan on renewing my lease and staying here for an additional year. Great home!

                                          DEFINITELY rent here!

I have lived at Village Creek for 5 years now, and I can honestly say I am very happy here!(And no, I don´t work for Village Creek!)

I´m not sure which building the previous reviewer lives in ("Do not rent here!"). But I´ve never gotten sick from any "mold."

And I leave for work at 6:30 a.m. and I happily find that the stairs and walkways are always shoveled and salted. And the maintenance staff is the friendliest I´ve encountered, and I love their quick turnaround with repairing problems when they occur (which is quite rare!)

As for the office staff: In my opinion they are very caring, friendly and professional. I´ve lived here 5 years and yes there´s been some turnover which is natural, but the current staff, headed by Tracey, is probably the nicest and most helpful!

It´s beautifully landscaped and well-maintained. As for cars getting broken into: In my five years here I have never been the victim of that. I always feel comfortable parking my car in the lot.

As for the laundry room: If it´s filthy, that is the fault of the residents who left it that way, not the staff!! They are not babysitters! Often I´ve seen flyers hung up, with gentle, friendly reminders to pick up after ourselves. And the laundry card machine was moved to the office because of repeated abuse and vandalism of the machine.

Again, I love living at Village Creek, and we plan to continue to do so!!

                                            Do not rent here

The management and staff are useless, stupid, unsusally rude, and completely lack sincerity. Two years ago, this was a nice place to live. Then, there was a staff promotion and the whole place went down hill fast ever since. Thanks a lot Tracy.

There is something here making many people and even thier pets very sick. There was recently an addendum to the lease about the complex not being liable for people getting sick from mold; so they know about it. They also don´t have the decency to point out the new mold clause to anyone. They don´t care if the people here get sick, spend more money on medical care and lose time off their jobs - as long as the rent money keeps coming.

There is more turnover here than on the griddle at the IHOP, so no one knows if thier future neighbor 6 months from now will be a noisy pain in the a**, or a decent one. The caliber of people allowed to move in went down after the management change too. It used to be quiet, and everybody was nice - a good place for a family. By contrast, there is a significant and regular use of marijuana now, and in the last 2 weeks alone the police have been here twice with dogs. Last month the S.W.A.T. team was here and busted down someone´s door. The month before that someone´s car window was bashed in, and thier dash torn up when the stereo was stolen. Just a couple of nights ago I came home to see a car with the door open, the dome light was on, no one was around in sight, there was part of the contents of a women´s purse on the passenger seat, and the purse was spilled open on the sidewalk 15 feet away. I waited 10 minutes to see if anyone would come back, and no one ever did. I hope the woman is all right. I guess I will never know.

The complex used to be quite nice; now it is a dump with trash everywhere. The laundry room is plain gross. And, the only way to get the required laundry money card "refilled" is to go into the office (which is seperate from the laundry room). The office hours keep changing, and they are closed on Sundays, so forget about filling you laundry card after 7pm or on Sundays. Funny - I though most people did their laundry on Sunday.

The walkways leading up to the apartments are never shoveled, and the ice builds up making the walk up to the door dangerous.

And then there´s towing residents cars simply for not looking new, and not bothering to tell residents their car was towed.

They´re all smiles and "welcome to Village Creek", until you sign on the bottom line. Then - you get to learn what living here is REALLY like. A lot changes in 2 years...

                                              Management is GREAT!

All the management and mantanence guys are great!! The apartments are kept in good shape and the property is well mantained. (but there are alot of dogs on the property with lazy owner who don´t pick up after them) If you have kids or dogs, put them on a leash, FAST & CRAZY drivers around here. Other than that, VERY NICE and would definently come back!
