I just moved in
I just moved in about a week ago and the staff was amazing, I was looking for a quick move and they put in the extra work and I was moved in in less then 24 hrs. I have no major issues with Sailwind. The only thing that wasn't working properly was the garbage disposal and they fixxed it right away. The grounds seem to be in good condition and well kept. The only problem I had was I got a down stairs apartment and I can hear my upstairs neighbor get up to go to the bathroom at 2 am. But its something that I can live with.

Unless you want.............
Unless you want to have your car stolen, live next door to a sex offender, live across the way from crack addicts, and get treated like crap by the office staff then don't move there. Moving to Sailwinds was the biggest mistake and waste of money ever. My apartment was a piece of crap, my appliances never worked, I got clothes stolen out of the laundry mat, and the list goes on. My friend had his car stolen right out of the parking lot and the only thing that was said to him was you should have put those rims on the trucks. ---- Sailwinds and I hope someone buys them out and demolishes them and puts new units up.

SLUM
Turning in to a SLUM. The parking lot looks like a Taco Bell drive through on weekends.

Mixed Bag/Better places out there
Clean, nice grounds. Clean pool.
HORRIBLE management, as others have noted. Bunch of young nit-wit girls working in the office, whose only response to our complaints were "oh I'm sorry" with no further action. They literally gave us the 60 day notice of lease renewal/vacating THE AFTERNOON (12 hours) before we were supposed to tell them what we were going to do, or, if we didn't, we would be charged all this money for rent BEYOND our lease if we chose not to renew. Why should I pay for rent when its beyond my lease agreement and I'm also not going to be living there? Not very reasonable.
Neighborhood is so-so, kind of sketchy. Interior of the apartment needs some updating/renovation, as some of the bathroom fixtures, etc. are falling off the wall. One of the toilets didn't work shortly after we moved in. We didn't dare walk out on our "deck." The grounds crew starts in EARLY in the morning with the lawnmowers, leaf blowers, etc. Not everybody goes to work/gets up for 7am. Overall, not that bad of a place to live, but with other complexes nearby offering more inclusive amenities (cable, washer/dryer, garage, internet, etc.) for comparable rental rates, along with very bad management, the best bet is to avoid this place.

HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE!!!
THIS PLACE SUCKS. MANAGEMENT SUCKS. THEY KEEP YOUR MONEY FOR NO REASON. THEY TRY TO EVICT FOR NO REASON. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, ARE HORRIBLE AT KEEPING RECORDS,ETC DON'T MOVE THERE...HEAD FOR THE HILLS, LOOK ELSEWHERE, RUN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION. PRICING IS RIDICULOUS FOR A APT 900SF.

Notice all the bad reviews in the last year? Dont move here. SERIOUSLY
Sailwind Management is very very unhelpful. They treat you as if you are doing something wrong. When moving they are TERRIBLE to work with. My vehicle got broken into... Do NOT ignore these ratings. Once you get in you will find out and regret it. I have since moved to somewhere that they treat you like a human.

SAILWIND=HELL
The management is horrible. We left our apt. spotless and they still kept our deposit. The maintance men came to fix something and they let my cats out (a day before a hurricane came through) Sailwind is hell on earth

Not a good experience at all. Low income projects in New York are safer.

Not horrible, but I don't highly recommend
When I moved in, there were many stains on the carpet, and even a huge bleach spot by the bathroom, so I made sure to specifically note that on the checklist they gave me before moving in so they knew I didn't do that. Other than that, the apartment was ok- on the old side, but I figured you get what you pay for.
One bad thing was that I was able to hear my neighbors listening to tv/music and vacuuming, and when I opened the cabinets in my kitchen, I could smell whatever they were cooking (I guess it was drifting through the pipes??)

Parking wasn't a problem for me, and I never really felt unsafe, although the surrounding neighborhood was definitely pretty sketchy. The grounds were kept pretty nice, and the pool was clean.

About 2 months before my lease was up, I decided I was moving back to my hometown, so I called the leasing office so they would know I was not renewing my lease. Well, the manager informs me that I'm supposed to give 60 days notice if I'm not renewing my lease, so I'm going to have to pay for an extra month! No where in my lease did it say anything about a 60 day notice- a lease is a lease! You live there until the lease is up, and when it's up, you either renew, or move out! I argued with the nasty manager forever on the phone, and finally came to a compromise.
The day I moved out, I requested for the manager to do a walk through with me to make sure there wasn't anything she was going to mark down to take off my deposit, because the apt. was exactly the way I got it. Conveniently, she wasn't available like she said she would be, so I had to leave without a walkthrough. Sure enough, when my deposit was returned to me, there was about 50 bucks taken out, when there should have been NO reason to, but I didn't even want to waste my time trying to argue with the manager about it.

It wasn't a horrible place to live, but if you can afford a bit more, I'd go somewhere else.
Place ok but bad experience with management...
I moved in because the place is not bad at all (the inside of the apt.) - the complex itself does not look nice at all. They were nice at first until I signed the lease. The first day I moved in my door would not luck, and I had to wait until the next day to get someone to fix it! Parking is really bad and it is very dark in certain places and the neighborhood is not safe or good.

I read the other reviews and I wanted to post an objective one... the inside of the apt. is not bad at all. The main problem, and a very big one indeed is maintenance and the staff. They will literally ignore your needs and the manager is outright rude. What kind of manager goes around using foul language and then telling a tenant that if they don't like it they can get a lawyer and waste their money. That is what I was told when I told them if there was anyone I could contact besides the manager (property owner, etc). I left the place clean, etc. and they kept my deposit and would not return it. They told me I could take them to court if I wanted to - that I would loose because it would be my word against theirs.

Honestly, spend a bit more and move somewhere else. You may think that it is worth saving the $, but you will really regret it. Yeah, it's cheap compared to other places but whats the point if you live there unhappy?

FIND ANOTHER PLACE.
Good Luck.

Very dissapointed
I wish I had known about this website before I signed the lease. The parking was terrible and management seemed so nice until I actually moved in. The apartment was cramped and it was just not a nice experience. I would recommend steering clear of this place.

Terrible complex and awful management
I have had an awful experience dealing with this complex. Liz Howe is one of the managers. She is rude and hard to deal with. I never felt welcomed and signed site unseen because of the price. I then regretted it for a year.

Horrible experience
I rented from this complex for the price, but you definitely get what you pay for. The property is not well managed and the property managers are very hard to get a hold of and they do not return calls. I was very upset with the apartment they rented to me and refused to move in. The complex was run down and I moved out as quick as I could.

WORST MANAGEMENT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only move to these apartments if you enjoy a flooded carpet, VERY RUDE MANAGEMENT (with the exception of one person), and absolutley no respect for the fact that you actually pay to live here. My carpet has flooded three times in the two wks i have lived here. The first two times someone from maintenance came and said both times that they had "solved" the problem. Obviously they didn't because once again two large areas in my apartment are flooded. Considering this is a weekend they will not respond to any maintanence calls (even on their so-called "emergency maintanence line" which includes flooding), leaving me no choice but to live for the next two days like this, although i've been living like this for almost two weeks now. On top of that when i moved in they left the carpets so filthy that when i walked barefoot the soles of my feet turned gray (inside!!!). I have asked for them to change the carpet and they cant because of this flooding. Yes there is more... the wall in my bedroom when I moved in was still painted in an awful design left by the former resident. ITs the job of the management to fix that and the carpet before i moved in! Even further.... a month before move-in they told us one apartment address and exact number- we even signed everything with that address. Naturally I changed my drivers liscence (a day at the DMV and $10). When we arrive to move in we are givin another apartment!!! They didnt care at all that their stupid mistakes effect my life. Then when one of the nasty managers came in to look at all the damage when the painters arrived, she had the nerve to look at my dog and say "Is that your dog? I didnt know you have a dog. Are you sure shes under 35 pounds?"!! OF course she is! And I paid $300 just to have her here! My advice is to stay far far away from this place , any respect demanding person deserves better treatment, b/c after only two wks here I'm apartment hunting for someplace I can look forward to when my lease is up!

Good Experience
I lived at Sailwind for a year and it was excellent. The management was quick to answer my questions and the leasing staff was friendly. Maintenance was quick to resolve any issues that I had. I was particularly happy with my experience leaving Sailwind. Brenda, in the front office, was extremely helpful.

WARNING: STAY WHERE YOU LIVE>>>
Sailwind Apartments are the most outpriced, outdated, dirtiest apartments in Polk. If you want a parking space within 10 miles of your apartment, ride a bike. Management is outrageously RUDE! Where do they get the managers from? DRUG ATTIC & ABUSED WOMENS ASSOCIATION! Don't move to Sailwind, remember that you were warned when your moving back out.

Now I know why move in was so cheap!
This place is a complete joke! It took a year to get a copy of our lease! The management is very confused and RUDE.
The apartments are very outdated and cramped. The master bedroom is larger than the living room area. When your neighboor showers or flushes you KNOW! The outside of the buildings are nasty this includes the entrance ways and stairs. Parking is a nightmare, if you get home after 6pm you have to park 20 miles away from your apartment!
Living in hell could be no worse.

Don't go there
Not a bad place to live UNTIL the new manager arrived- rude and unreasonable. So don't go there unless you enjoy being verbally abused
